Well in that case, I will suffer through... Respawning loot has been one of my most anticipated features.

So the MP5K is in the files, so...

There are still fixed stock variants out there but your probably right. You NEVER see these things in video games with fixed stocks. -

I wouldn't mind finding a stock that makes it take up more space when packed into a backpack. IF it can be packed away... -
I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!

To be fair, a lot of the cans of food you find are rusted out as well. Also, you don't have to play on regular servers. I play on hardcore almost exclusively. -

This would be the best way to implement it. I don't think they would go as far as to make players unable to JOG. and certainly not walk, indefinitely. -
It's not. I've played over 300 hours now and I STILL enjoy going onto a nearly loot depraved server and finding that one can of beans that everybody else missed. They obviously don't want inconsequential murder to be the main attraction of the game because EVERY other shooter does that. If I wanted to pvp in a realistic military sim, I'll go play one of the Arma's. When I want to have a difficult time surviving the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, I'll play DayZ. That's what sets this game apart from the rest. If they truly wanted it to be centered around pvp, they wouldn't be adding hunting or more survival elements and there DEFINITELY wouldn't be any zombies in the game.

It doesn't fit with the games hyper-realistic tone. The human body, no matter what prior conditioning, cannot sustain a full sprint for very long and is usually saved for the most dire of situations. It would be a nice little feature if they put it in but I just can't imagine it seeing much use when you can't sprint indefinitely. They are probably better off spending resources on the serious problems with the game. -
The many performance issues and other bugs (character wipes, invisible players, hacked weapons, you name it) affect gameplay a lot more directly than how fast one can run. Most of the time when you're shooting, you're standing still ANYWAY so being able to run fast doesn't do much. I agree with you that they need to fix the ballistics too but even that shouldn't take precedence over making the game work first because the guns work well enough for now. Otherwise, players wouldn't pose as much a threat as they already do. Adding hunting and more survival elements is also a smart decision IMO. The LAST thing they need to is encourage players to murder each other even more than they already do. This IS still a survival simulator... not a pvp centered slug fest.

How many of you find a handgun before ever finding a rifle?
darth_vaizard replied to jubeidok's topic in General Discussion
Almost never happens... Primary weapons are too common. -
There's people out there who left when ghosting was a problem, others when combat logging became more prevalent. IMHO, they TRIED to fix that but now its just annoying to switch servers. Without a way to camp out for the night to save your gear and no way to get from A to B faster, running slower will make playing the game tiresome and a chore even more than it is now. That and there's no way it would take them more than a few hours, IF that, to find a more appropriate speed and change it. There's more pressing issues right now.
-
You wouldn't want to drive away the player base by limiting how fast they can travel without vehicles being in the game... We are part of the testing too.
-
Simple solution to this problem. I normally minimize my backpack window in my inventory screen as if I have it zipped up and cannot access it. A zipper icon on the bags bar would trigger a small animation where your character kneels down and unzips the bag (ala The Last Of Us). To get out of the animation, all you would have to do is simply click the zipper again. I can't imagine anything that complicated being implemented though... not when we can't pull weapons off our backs without mashing the hotkey for it 20 times...

What will become of this function when you can only manage to run 100m with 40kg of gear? There doesn't need to be an auto-run key, this isn't Skyrim. -
Everything except the GPU would work. You're going to need something a bit beefier than that. If your willing to spend almost double that, I use a Sager np8150 and it runs DayZ mod and SA on basically the highest settings with a few turned down a bit.
-
You're exactly right. Surviving a zombie apocalypse needs to be exactly that... not trying to not get shot all the time.
-
First we need to establish what kind of zombies they are and go from there. Right now, they are like a weird cross between retro and modern zombies. I honestly think that a very large number of retro zombies and maybe dead player zombies that are just as fast as the player was at death, and many times more difficult to kill, would be adequate in terms of threat level. The player zombies would definitely cut down on the random street murders on the coast :P Also, if they ever come out and say that these are rotting corpses running around, headshots only to kill them. That's one change they could make RIGHT now and the game would benefit from it I think.

Even MORE reason to wear a helmet. Even if its just a motorbike helmet because that DOES save you from .22 rounds. Also, not trying to promote my own video but just skip to the end if you want to see what I mean.

If you could change one thing about SA right now....
darth_vaizard replied to DMack's topic in General Discussion
Less guns, more melee or improvised weaponry. There, 10 words. I think there's too many armed people running around... Give a guy a virtual gun and he will want to shoot it. Ammo should also be MUCH more scarce. This would make people want to save their bullets instead of unloading 40 into the nearest newspawn. -
Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
darth_vaizard replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure one of the reasons the US military still uses the 5.56 round over anything more powerful is because they don't always need or want to kill their targets but the stopping power IS there if put in the right place. If it were up to me, obviously I would rather have neither, a small metal projectile that has a fairly high chance to pass right through me causing a flesh wound and maybe some internal bleeding sounds a lot better of an option to a few ounces of fiberglass with a barbed metal tip that rips whatever it goes through. That, and the crossbow wouldn't really be useful if it took more than one shot to kill... Reload time is too long for that to be an option. -
What exactly is the guaranteed server messaging?
-
I'm sorry but if a guy runs up to you and barrel stuffs you with two pistols, you die. I honestly wouldn't mind dual wielding pistols as long as they don't let u aim both pistols at the same time (however that would work) and make it about as inaccurate as the cone on the sawn-off shotgun maybe even less. Two hand slots is a great idea.
-
I wish they would change the attack animation itself. A well placed thrust (tf2 medic style) to the neck with the hacksaws forward facing serrations would shred soft tissue...
-
I think it should be based on random chance based on where the bullet hits. Get shot in the backpack, all of your items have a slight chance to fall a rank or two (worn to damaged, etc), get completely ruined, or just simply have nothing at all happen to them. Right now, getting shot and not being able to salvage ANYTHING off of a person is lunacy.
-
Only if the Vegemite makes my character gag...
-
It's frustrating when you aim the sight properly and still miss. I think what he meant is that the gun itself should have more sway with crappy parts so it's more inaccurate in THAT sense.
