Now that they are adding bows and arrows, I think it would be really cool if you could apply poisons to the arrow heads and maybe even bullets (there is also a post suggesting blowguns which would be cool to use with poisons) people all around the world have used poisons with projectile weapons such as arrows and darts both for hunting and in warfare, many house hold chemicals can be used to make a basic poison (Though depending on whats used you risk tainting the meat if used for hunting). also there are various plants and some animals that can be used to make poison out of (not sure if there are any in this region) and I would think many medical drugs could be used to make either poisons or some sort of anesthetic. what do you all think? it could be a way to make bows a silent deadly weapon in short/mid range, of course the poisons should not be super easy to make. but it could be interesting to use as both a aid to taking down big game (like dear or bear if they have them) as well as a great self-defense/assassination weapon. thoughts? comments? please share

that is cool, don't tell me where it's at though (that's half the fun). I'll have to find that place Cool pic, very ominous looking clouds/lighting. it fits dayz's setting quite well (though I am glad to see a fair share of sunny days. yeah there maybe zombies, but it's not the end of the world, right?)

good tip, I find people are more receptive/believing to you being "friendly" when you make first contact. it's always best to see before being seen, making contact or not is a judgment call. also running blindly into someone is a recipe for some KoS just due to nerves.

What music hits you when you play?
Ramzzzeee replied to IReadTheAgreement's topic in General Discussion
If i still had a working music player I'd definitely be rocking out to this, you know after skinning and eating the cat i just killed, fending of cannibals and hordes of zombies. Yep this would be my "chill" song, half the time i already alternate between singing "affected" and "infected" -
We NEED Buffalo in this game ! /thread

zombies are a bit better on experimental how ever there is a couple of things I think need fixed (and maybe it will be soon), right now the best way to deal with zombies is to run, they basically can't catch you and you never get tired, so you can easily kite them around (even looting while they chase you) this needs fixed (and maybe player stamina will help to fix this) however right now being able to run from zombies is kind of the only thing that balances the fact that zombies see you from miles away (it just really depends, if your on the slightest rise they will see you when they are just a spec), as well as zombies pathing through the walls/floors I do like the ideal of harder zombies that you either need to sneak around or have some way to get them out of the picture as a full on confrontation should be very risky with any big number of zeds, I like the idea of noise attracting them and using tactics rather than fight "fair" ( and needing/ being helpful to work with others as a team). like your bell idea, if zombies where a true threat and you could attracted them in some way, you could have one person be the "bait" while the other person looted

Good story, but in my opinion he didn't rob you. He forcibly traded with you. It does make me wonder.... why didn't he talk? Maybe he didn't know the language and just really needed the food? Maybe he didn't want to risk typing, or alert others of his location.

if you want to be a "Hero" or "bandit hunter" or what ever I think you should accept death as part of that, but don't take death as losing (tho you should learn from it) I think the biggest thing is defining (or redefining) what you consider winning, if K/D (killing more than you die) is what you define as "Winning" than yes KoS would be the most logical way, if it's surviving than just avoid everyone (you'll live longer than even those KoS people, but it IMO would be pretty boring), if helping others is what you count as winning forget about the deaths (not saying don't learn from it) and count helping others as winning. myself I have a kind of mixed playstyle, my current goal is to explore (I'm new to the map), survive, and have a good time and try to add to the enjoyment of others. I make contact with players (I don't go looking for them at "hot spots") when I feel it's safe, normally when I do I offer them what ever they want of my gear (no need to have the feel they need to rob or kill me, I have nothing that's worth starting over back at the coast for). I guess what I'm getting at is play how you want to, be the change you want to see. don't like KoS? don't KoS. don't like bandits? don't steal. don't like boring people? don't be boring. don't like "white knights" don't be one.

If it's been suggested before it must be a good idea, I like it! With duct tape in the game there's really a lot of things like this you could do, i know they can't implement them all but i think this would be a good one. Along that same idea what about combining your flashlight, helmet/hat etc. And duct tape to make a improvised head lamp? (And while we're at it make the head lamps already in game wearable with hats/helmets)

Some really great ideals, I would also like independent "slots" for hands which i think go's along with your suggestion very well, what i mean by that is being able to hold multiple small items (one in each hand , or maybe more than one if they are small enough like bullets or pills) while larger items would require two hands And as you said very large items should require multiple people or mechanical advantage (like hand trucks, dollys or what ever you want to call them) I think this would also encourage team work, i mean even if you had a car you would have to have a buddy (or group of buddies) to help load very big objects.

I haven't seen any actual time line, so I don't see why you wouldn't? it seems more likely than finding fresh fruit (as some posted here) and about or more likely then finding any food at all. and on high pop servers you probably wouldn't find many locked doors (unless some one was camping behind the door) as most would likely be looted already. you maybe right about the time consuming part, I don't know as I'm not a dev... btw it's hard to get my tone across here. I am in no way attacking you, and you maybe right (I really wish there was some sort of official time frame that all this had went down in) thanks for your input!

I have noticed it seems very directional, which is good and bad.... any improvement would be welcome but it does work fairly well IMO. now with my real life friends/family I'm going to use vent/steam or what ever for a few reasons. 1) unlimited range, most the time we have to hike a ways to meet up and we need to figure out where each other are and where to meet, also if we get out of "shouting" distance we can still talk and meet up again. a few in game solutions that have been brought up before is to make in game walkie talkies common (I am not even sure if they are in SA? I've never seen them) maybe even have you spawn with one 2) as you pointed out you can (even now) be over heard, while this can be "fun".BUT so long as you can use outside programs most people will do that if they are with a established group so they can't be overheard and are more stealthy. while 3rd party programs will probably stay the main way for groups to communicate, one thing that might work in conjunction with 2way radios is to have a "whisper mode" (maybe even a attachment like the swat throat mics). what I mean is you would be whispering into the 2way so your voice would be barely audible in "vicinity chat" but loud and clear over the 2way. 3) the directional nature of it, while it's nice for being able to tell where the person talking to you is in relation to yourself, it makes talking to people almost require you be facing one another (this is some what realistic tho I think the game may dampen the sound to much when your not facing one another) this may need tweeked some and maybe part of what your talking about? again for grouping purposes having two way radios should alleviate this as the "source" would be clipped to you (and maybe even in a ear bud, another possible attachment)

First off I know this has been posted before (infact this will be a copy and past of a reply I made to a old topic), but since many only read the OP I figured I'd start a "fresh" topic. TL:DR when they put in barricades I think locks should be implemented, and here are some of my suggestions. P.S. along the lines of Combination locks maybe have safes as "persistent" storage, depending on the grade of safe they should be very hard to impossible to "brute force" (maybe you have to use explosives or some sort of cutting torch if they add such things to the game) and require special tools to lock pick (if that should even be possible)

How I Appear as Friendly as Possible
Ramzzzeee replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
a question for you Irish, since I've read a few of your post and gather that you have a bit of a KoS playstyle (not saying your wrong, in fact you seem fairly chill) what factors into your decision to pull the trigger? since you said you would not shoot the OP. is it the full outfit, lack of visible weapons, the yellow raincoat or the sexy eyewear? also what effect does in game chat/voice have on lightening your trigger finger? would you consider talking to you/declaring themselves a sign of good faith (or maybe consider it a ruse, which it very well could be) sorry if I'm getting slightly OT but I wanted to pick the brain of "the other side" particularly be cause I would like to interact with all "sides" and while I'm ok with dying I'd like to avoid it if I can -
How I Appear as Friendly as Possible
Ramzzzeee replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
lately I have ditched weapons as well (melee and guns), I wont KoS (just not the playstyle I want ) and chances are if they shoot first I'm dead anyways. so I might as well show them I'm clearly not a threat. I do however where camo and creep around because I find it better to see before being seen. -
Operation "Sanctuary" safe zone calling all heroes (Event Ended)
Ramzzzeee replied to thelonewarrior's topic in General Discussion
I'd be interested, more as a observer/helper. I actually layed my weapons down on experimental and probably will on the normal servers (maybe I'll just donate my guns to you guys) as far as those saying this is a bad idea because "there's nothing to do in this game"..... I think you missed the point, because "there's nothing to do in this game" is why this is perfect ! it's something to do :-P but then again I used to unwind after raids (yeah I used to play WoW ) by spinning in circles jumping from post to post on top of Ogrimmar bank, I guess I'm easily entertained. -
What music hits you when you play?
Ramzzzeee replied to IReadTheAgreement's topic in General Discussion
this song is very fitting a apocalyptic setting, I think you could make a great dayz music video out of it. ("The Man" could be dressed in black with a cowboy hat for extra effect) -
on that topic I believe there already are apple trees (they sure look like some sort of fruit trees) and there are definitely pumpkins, it really annoys me to be starving and not take advantage of these obvious food sources.

and really who wouldn't.... lol indeed and thanks for that pic. love that movie btw that and patriot are two of his best IMO, or maybe I just like epic war movies....

I was about to post something similar, but I'm sure I'd get the "search 1st" post so I'll necro this one! I think this should be one of the basic forms of "barricading" IMO there should be 3 was to open locks. 1) force : (such as bashing it with a axe, crowbar, bat etc. ), this should make a good bit of noise and attract infected if they are near by and should take a fair amount of time (not to long but there should be effort involved) this should also damage the weapon quite a bit and make the lock unusable after wards. 2) finesse : lock picking (it could be actual lock picks or for more basic locks even things like credit cards, screwdrivers, knives etc.) the picks could either be consumed on use or work sorta like other games and be a meta game with a chance to break based on how well you used them. picked locks could be relocked (with a key) 3) a key : pretty self explanatory, there could be generic "master keys" that would open doors/locks similar to how hand cuff keys work, depending on how in depth they wanted to go you could have several types of locks that would require there own type of key (pad locks, standard door locks, deadbolts combination locks etc.) more on that below... types of locks I'd like to see different kinds of locks, with different durability and uses, below I'll list a few ideas (feel free to expound on these). Basic (door) locks. these should be on most/all outward facing doors on houses etc. basic "door handle" locks. they should be one of the easiest to deal with using just about any tool to "lock pick" or melee weapon to destroy, also the key to fit them should be common or at most uncommon (not to rare) *note: I am not suggesting that all doors should be locked by default, most should not but some should and all should be lockable if you have a key* dead bolts. these should be more in industrial/commercial/military buildings. they should be much tougher than "basic" locks. Picking them should either be imposable or require actual "lock picks", breaking them should take a great deal longer and pretty much ruin (or badly damage) most melee weapons (maybe make a crowbar work a bit better than say a bat). keys should be RARE. Pad locks : pad locks could be removable locks that could (maybe require a chain ) lock any open-able object, like gates, doors and maybe even containers (like fridges). there could be different quality of pad locks (ranging in difficulty from easy to hard. much like the difference between common locks and deadbolts ) Combination locks! : basically a lock that you have to enter and certain number combination to open (it could be like a spin dial or individual numbers), you couldn't really "pick" it but given time I guess you could "crack" it by trying combinations over and over, breaking it could be the same as a pad lock, as for what the "key" is there could be several (or just one ) default PIN (this maybe hard to implement, but I'd love to be able to reset the PIN once you open it to what ever you want) there's really a unlimited number of "types" of locks you could make (like jail cell locks, car door locks) and maybe some of those would be good, I guess it would just be resource dependent, these are just some suggestions I have. please share your suggestions, and constructive criticism ;-)

yeah by default it made me a woman my first go around, I prefer to stick to my own gender. but then again while I'll sorta "roleplay" mostly I play my character as a digital representation of myself. but all in all if you want to have character of a different gender that's fine, I do think with build in voice chat it is strange hearing a mans voice from a female character

this is not a game..... *in Spartan voice* THIS IS DAYZZZEEEE for better or worse, I myself enjoy it (i'm weird ) but I do look forward to it being a more complete ga.... errr... what ever THIS is.

I think it's cool your taking a different path than most. I'm sorta like you (tho not using the forums to give stuff away), but i have layed down my arms so there's isn't even the option to return fire. If i die i die, but if anyone wants what i have i would gladly give it to them so really shooting me just insures most of what i have will be ruined, its there loss. I can't be robbed, as i will willingly give it up, just ask (i do try to avoid getting kos'd as that is just boring)

I agree, I mean how else can we get that "Unabomber" look?

I have started closing doors behind myself for two. Reasons 1 so I'm not as easily tracked and 2 it is a great warning system ( if you come out find open doors you know someone is there with you)
