    Polaroid Cameras

I would imagine the photo would just look generic until you equip it (similar to what the above poster mentioned about writing notes, or the way ingame maps work)

    Zippos and Lighter Fluid

I like the OPs suggestion and this one, perhaps we could also craft a torch (I would say out of rags and a stick but that already makes a splint) maybe out of a splint and lighter fluid?

    Polaroid Cameras

I'd love this, and it shouldn't be to hard to implement (guessing) as it's basically just a screen shot. But being able to find/leave these behind could tell a great story.

    Honey and beehives

And getting stung could require a epipin if your character happens to be allergic (someone else suggested somewhere but i can't find it) I support this, I'd love to chow down on a pb&honey sandwich in the apocalypse!

Firearm lock up cages in police station

I like this ideal ! I think the idea of pad locks/door locks should be implemented into other parts of the game as well, i'd love to find random doors/houses locked up. (This could also be a part of the planned barricades where you could lock up a building your self) There should be 3 ways of dealing with locks imo 1) finesse. Using something like a lock pick (or even a credit card or knife for easy door locks) 2) brute force. Such as using a bat, axe, crowbar, etc. (This should make lots of noise as stated, and also do a lot of damage to the weapon) 3) a key or combination (there could be a genetic key for locks, sorta like hand cuff keys, but it would be real cool if you could find combination that had a "default" code to start but could be changed once unlocked)

    Moveable furniture

I was just thinking the same thing earlier, I mean they got knocked over by zombies but now seem to be glued to the floor? I'm assuming you mean knocked over/ knocked around when you bump them, not actually carrying them around (which while cool would probably be hard to implement), tho I wouldn't mind having folding "camp" chairs we could set in once we can have camp fires!

    Poison Arrows

yeah a .22 is fun to shoot (irl) and great for small game (rabbits, squirrels etc.) and while I don't doubt you could kill a dear/person your shot would HAVE to hit a vital organ. where as a .45 or even a 9mm is tearing a lot more up and even if it doesn't hit a major organ your talking a lot of blood loss and tissue/muscle damage. but yeah I don't know what if any effect poisons that you can make out of supplies in that region of the world would be. of course there are poisons that are sure death for man or beast in a very small dose (such as ricin) but they take so long they really would be useless for anything other than griefing others which adds no value to the game at all (unless you want this to be a true psychopath simulator), I would not be in favor of such a addition.

    Poison Arrows

my personal use would be hunting as I am more interested in the survival and co-op aspect of the game, however I don't think it can or should be made to work on animals and not people. poison doesn't cease being poison but because your target is human, if the poison is capable of killing (or even just speeding up ) the death of a animal, it should have a effect on a person as well (weight should be a factor as you pointed out) I am not a fan of KoS (in fact I no longer loot weapons as I have no intention of shooting people) but that doesn't mean I will try to make this a PvE game, this is a game about choices.

    Poison Arrows

I can respect that and I would say in most cases (in a firefight) a gun would and should win over a arrow (even if the person with the bow got the first shot and the gunman eventually died to poison/infection/bleeding) BUT we are getting bows and arrows, and I can see how they would be advantageous at times, manly since they don't make much noise and shouldn't draw as much attention from zombies or players. I am suggesting poisons merely as a addon to the system already being put in place (tho again I'm in favor of blowguns too if they wanted to add them) as to going back to the stone age, in the theoretical "apocalyptic" disaster, I would (myself) chose to use firearms as a last resort. it's a lot easier to find materials to make a arrow than to reload a cartrage/shell, also again there is the unwanted attention gunfire would bring. oh and I hope you can find some "modern" bows and arrows, crossbows etc. people do hunt with these nowdays and they should be much more accurate than what a novice would be able to craft with scavenged materials and tools (maybe they will make it where the more bows/arrows you make the better quality you are able to craft)

    guitar case backpack

only if they add in a functional guitar, hey we're getting camp fires we gotta have some music right? if you ain't living a little what's the point in surviving?! *edit* oh and SMORES, we must have SMORES!!!!

    Poison Arrows

good point, I have watch some documentaries but not recently and can not recall the time it takes but I'll take your word for it. and as you say moneys are not really "big game" or human size. (tho I assume we will have mid size game to? like pigs etc.) I had also thought of making a improvised "poison arrow" using a syringe as a arrowhead which would deliver a lager dose (at the cost of accuracy and range) also the poison doesn't have to do all the work as the arrow should have cause some damage it's self (other wise how are we going to hunt with them). like I said a couple of post up you could perhaps use something like a blood thinner to cause greater blood loss. maybe it would be for the best if poisons were not to fast acting or powerful but they could add some effect to your arrows, the down side being if it would be worth it to collect and craft poisons to use on arrows, but that would be up to the person I think.

    Poison Arrows

Forgive me for shrinking your text a bit to fit my message here You voice a very real danger with using poisons to hunt with, but there are some plant and animal based poisons that are safe to eat the cooked meat of the animal that was killed by it, and I would imagine you could improvise something out of medical supplies (such as using blood thinners to cause more rapid bleeding) again you can make a crude poison as simply as dipping a projectile in excrement (crap) it wouldn't kill quickly and would be pretty worthless for hunting (or even self defense) but untreated it would very likely cause a pretty good infection that would lead to death with out medical attention.

How many have you killed and why ?

I don't think I have actually killed anyone, I did KO a guy who was insistent on picking a fist fight, we were both newspawns but I had a moto helmet (that he wanted) - 57 hours I've been killed (by players) 3 times and shot at a few times, I will admit I'm not the best at combat in this game (tho I've only really pulled the trigger on one guy who was already beating me with a axe), I am pretty fair in most shooters (never played arma tho) but the real issue is I don't count this a "shooter" so I don't take the first shot. I'm playing for survival/exploration so FOR ME it's not K/D that matters it's trying to survive and making memories/stories along the way. to those who do play it as TDM that's cool. it's a sand box, build a castle or dig a pit !

    Non-lethal weapons

In DayZ I have decided to try and get along with out killing anyone, now I have no problem with violence in video games (in fact I play a lot of FPS and Doom is what got me started with PC's back in the Day) but to me the beauty of DayZ is diversity and choice. so Unlike a Slayer/Deathmatch, there is no "sides" everyone maybe a friend or a foe. now when encountering other players you really only have a few options (right now). 1) avoid them 2) shoot them 3) talk to them now a encounter may combine some mix of those 3 but there is really no good non-lethal means of self defense. my suggestion is to add a few (or maybe a number of) non-lethal weapons, such as tranquilizer darts, smoke and tear gas (maybe give a reason for gas mask), tasers, blackjacks (with a higher chance to knock out from behind than a bat maybe?). now how these items are used are up to the person, I would just like them so I can defend myself with out killing fellow "survivors" however I can see bandits using these for some very different uses BUT I'm Ok with that. as a side effect I think it would reduce the number of KoS, for two reasons 1) bandits would/might use it if it didn't ruin gear like shooting someone does. 2) people who are just trying to defend themselves might use it to escape with out bloodshed.I could see this opening up several interesting playstyle options. so what do you all think, any draw backs to having non-lethal weapons? benefits ? if there were non-lethal weapons in-game would you use them, and if so how?

    Non-lethal weapons

makes sense, I wouldn't see why it couldn't be tied to the health system, from my understanding they want it to be pretty robust. perhaps some people might even be allergic to some chemical (such as tranq darts) which would require you to use a epipen on them or they would die (maybe you need to check there pulse before you leave them to make sure you didn't do any lasting damage? )

    Hardcore gasmask

cool idea, though if gas mask have a feature like this I hope they also have a function (such as protecting from gas! haha). in game tear gas, or maybe even some bio chem weapon would be cool and make gas mask more than a vanity item. also if gas mask and other mask effect your view in first person mode I hope sunglasses do to, maybe then walking into the sun wouldn't be such a pain.

    Non-lethal weapons

Cool info, personally I think in this game a short knock out would be best anyway (and as your video pointed out, more realistic) I'm also fine with "less lethal" weapons having a chances to kill some one (though it should be pretty low). as for dosage of things like tranquilizer darts.... since there is little character customization and every one is basically the same weight (well maybe women and men differ ) I would say a one dose fits all would be "realistic" as the customization allows for.

Premium loot -- A balanced proposal to "gearing up"

I had thought about locked doors (and lock picks) before, but not for the reason you mentioned it (though it is a good reason). I would definitely like to see locked doors/containers which "potentially" have good loot. It'd also be cool if some locked/barricaded rooms were infested with the "infected"

    Non-lethal weapons

hmmm I guess I used the wrong search term as non-lethal turned up nothing, could you point me in the direction of one of these topics. I truthfully have not seen them, but yeah I figured I wasn't the first to think it would be a neat thing to have.

Did you get KoS a lot?

I've really only been KoS'd twice, and I was accidently shot once (i'm assuming it was a accident since the guy patched me up after knowing me out) and cuffed and feed somethings harmfull once. I've played about 50 hours so not to bad IMO, tho right now I play mostly low pop as i'm trying to learn the map/explore. I also try to see the other guy before he sees me (and decide whither to make contact or not)

    My ultimate friendly outfit

this is my working theory as well, though I think not wearing a mask (even gas mask or resporators) makes you seem more friendly. what I mean is I think you can make some choices with clothing that allow you to be seen as less threating, with out looking like a Christmas Tree.
  22. I try to treat others how I'd like to be treated, so I don't KoS but I would defend myself (so far I haven't been shot or shot at while I had a gun). mostly right now I'm learning/exploring the map so I play on low pop servers, but for the most part my interaction with people have mostly ended with us parting ways un harmed (I've been killed/shot a few times but I think most of those were people being startled because we nearly ran into each other, or the couple times I lacked a mic ) I guess my "playstyle" would be, a survivor/explorer
  23. That would be cool, tho what about riding on the handle bars? there should be some draw back to this of course, like reduced speed and handling (and at lest on hardcore the fact that they block your view)

    Accidental shootings

I was reading the topic "I haven't slept in 2 days" (which I am quite sure is a bit of harmless trolling) but it made me think about the flight or flight reaction which is inevitable when you unexpectedly encounter another person in Dayz. this happened to me a few days back while showing my nephews dayz (they where watching me play) so I'm wondering around town looting and trying to avoid zombies, I thought I had zombie agro while I was in this house, so I was looking out the window (which seemed to be where the sound was coming from) and all the sudden I hear something to my left. now I'm at the end of the hall and the only exit is back where I heard the sound, I spin and to my shock it's not a zombie but a "survivor" with a gun pointed right at me.... I didn't have a mic, and since I thought there was a zombie near by I had my axe drawn (I did not have a gun). well seeing this guy with a gun up and aimed at me there was a lot going through my mind, but in that moment instinct took over and I bolted. so now I'm running right at a guy with a gun, axe drawn. naturally he shoots, luckily it didn't kill me out right but only made me bleed and knocked me unconscious. now my first reaction was shock and was wondering "why did he shoot me" which was the same sentiment my nephews expressed. but as soon as my brain started working I considered what must have been going through HIS mind, what would I (or anyone) have done, he couldn't have known what I was thinking what was going on in my mind or determine what my intentions was, all he could do is act based on what he saw. which was a man running at him with a AXE. the final twist here is that after I considered his motives I thought "hmmm maybe he isn't a heartless killer and only trying to survive just like me". at this point laying on the ground bleeding out I had 2 choices, 1 respawn and start over or 2 try to make contact and hope he helps me (or at lest doesn't kill me). so I typed in chat and told him I wasn't trying to kill him and ask if he could help me. to my shock I woke up only a few seconds later, now I'm not sure if he had a hand in that (as he never spoke) but there he was, gun drawn but not shooting... I thanked him several times bandaged my self (this time making sure I didn't draw a weapon or look like a threat) and as soon as I gathered my self I said goodbye and ran off. I know there is a lot of KOS and bandits in Dayz but I really think part of this is not because people want to kill each other but because they are afraid. please share your own stories either of those you killed because you were afraid (only to later think they may not have been as big of a threat as you thought) or of times you have been killed or at lest shot at that you look back and think "I totally brought that on myself"
