  1. Grab a Bible from the big church southish of the NWAF or NEAF, those are the ones I grab and I have had good luck. Well, bad luck, but survivable if barely. ;)

This game needs a lever-action rifle!

Classic. My mare's leg I believe is actually compatible with that rifle's stock. It's only one screw, too. They could have a sawn-off lever action "Mare's Leg" and make the buttstock an interchangeable item. You could have the 12" barrel with sawn-off buttstock that you can toss in a bucket holster or in a bag or throw on a full-sized buttstock for a little extra stability.
  3. Are there any other Old Testament books? Job is a relatively short book by Biblical standards. It doesn't really warrant its own "volume."

Medic Helmet and other forms of visual ID

The thing is, most defibrillators are designed so that the average Joe can operate it, complete with pretty pictures. I was gonna make a thread on it, but might as well chirp in here. There definitely needs to be more forms of identification. A couple sources for such IDs already exist in game. Main one I want to see is the bandana. You should be able to "craft" the bandana into not only a head wrap, but also a face mask, an arm band, a neck tie, or even a visible bandage. Once you factor in the different colors, you now have a couple dozen combinations from one class of item. Your group could all wear one color of bandana on their arm or neck (or face if you wanna be a pr0 1337 bandit) to help with IFF.

This game needs a lever-action rifle!

I own 2 lever actions. A mare's leg in .45LC and a "Tactical" Mossberg 464SPX. Both of which I love. Both can be unloaded in a few seconds and both (especially the .30-.30) will put a nice hole through you and your buddy.

  11. I always grab a new testament and keep one on me Current character has been alive for over a month of constant playing (minus the last few days that I have been gone and likely the next few months since this internet over here can barely load a page of this forum...) A lot of bad things have happened to my char, but he has made it out alive every time. This is actually a very valid point. For those of you not in the know, it is a very good story. Lucifer claimed that he could make any believer of God curse His name. Essentially, God said here is my faithful servant Job, he shall persevere. Satan cursed Job with the loss of his property, the loss of his family, and the loss of his health. After all this, Job's wife told him that he, better than any other, has the right to curse God. Job said "Get away from me" and proceeded to Praise God. You may say "what a horrible story!" It is quite miserable sounding, but because of his faithfulness Job was rewarded with even more property, even more children, and happiness. Essentially, he lost it all and gained even more due to his faith. I didn't know that the book of Job could be found separate in the game and not in some compilation like the Old Testament. It could very well be that it was a nasty trick the Devs planted. Should test this "feature" on clothing, too.

    New Walkie-Talkie uses?

Because every radio has a built in directional compass that points to other users and allows you to GPS track targets. Oh, and it has a can opener. Keep the radio a radio. It has a purpose and it functions for that purpose. Somebody a while back suggested connecting a radio to radio towers for boosted range. That doesn't modify the radio, but allows it to do something new. Think along those lines... please.

    AKM

Finally, people that recognize the mosin as garbage. When I found out that the Mosin Nagant was the only sniper rifle in the game at the present, I didn't know what to say. A weapon that can be used as a club more efficiently than a rifle being probably the most casualty producing weapon? I got used to it over time, but still didn't like it. Mosin Nagants are garbage. You could buy one for ~$50. It is the ultimate poor man's weapon. M4s are really accurate. M16s are even more accurate. They are garbage in DayZ, though, while the real garbage is praised. I don't mean to rant all this hate, but it is the sad truth. A lot of guys in my platoon are gun enthusiasts and NONE of us take the Mosin seriously. An SVD would have been a MUCH better first sniper in the game, and even that rifle is garbage! Unless the Mosin was machined in the past 10 years and updated with modern ballistic science, you are not getting a good weapon. The fact that my mosin in-game ALWAYS shoots left and down is probably the only bit of realism to the gun: It doesn't shoot straight.

    RAIN!

Once they implement proper protective measures (clothes like wellies, jungle boots, raincoats, ponchos, etc.) that function realistically, it shouldn't be that hard. Also, I think they should mix it up and make different intensities of rain. A light sprinkle is nothing to worry about. Rag off your gun so it doesn't rust, and you're good. A constant downpour should drench you within seconds. With visibly different rates, it would add a little bit of choice on "do I go now that it is lighter, or wait for it to lessen a little more" versus "nope, it's raining and all rain is the same."

    [Concept] DayZ UI

I think the battery icon should stay, but only to indicate that there is no battery in the device or for a for sure, single-use item like a defibrillator.

    Playable Guitars

In the F2PMMORPG I play, Mabinogi, music is a good-sized chunk of material. It could be an alternative, but you could just have it so you copy+paste some MML (Musical markup language, what MIDI records into and is really easy to find for all sorts of songs on the internet) It provides the ability to play whatever songs you want in a basic form while not being too complicated. Plus, if you have teh patience, you can learn how to write MML (it's not too bad) and compose your own music! It's really popular to play music in Mabinogi and if you don't have a song, you can get a "score scroll" or in DayZ's instance, "Sheet music" from a friend and play a song they had.

Bush-Plane on pontoons and guide gear.

Most "Jet fuel" is actually really common. In the Army, HMMWVs, generators, and mostly every other engine we have runs off of JP-8, or "Jet Propellant 8." Just so happens, that JP-8 can be used as a diesel alternative. You could just centralize military/air vehicles around diesel and civilian vehicles (cars, trucks, boats, etc.) around normal gasoline (unleaded, of course. Wouldn't want any brain tumors!) Occasionally, you run into stuff that doesn't use JP-8 in the military. I work on a UAV system (drones, if you don't know the acronym...) that requires AVGAS (100LL or 100 Low-lead) which is a high-octane leaded fuel. It's not the airframe that I work on, but that's what the Predator uses, too. maybe, if they do want to add in diesel and JP-8, they could make it where diesel simply runs rougher than JP-8 (since it isn't as refined) and causes faster deterioration. Maybe you could run a mix of diesel with a little JP-8 thrown into it in diesel vehicles. They would run a little hotter, but would crank out a little more power. I, personally, am a big fan of adding in a bush plane. I had been thinking about it for a long time, but never thought to make a thread on it. Fun fact: most pontoon systems also have wheels. Would be an awesome addition. Maybe have it where they have a low top speed so that they are scaled to the environment. Not sluggish, just low enough where you don't traverse Chernarus in thirty seconds and so that you stay in an on-ground player's FOV for a good while. Also, it would require some dynamic sound generation if you wanna go for real realism. Sounds would fill valleys at levels much louder than a plain. Also, sound would sound like it was coming somewhere behind the aircraft at higher speeds and altitudes. Thirdthorpe made an excellent point on the required maintenance of military vehicles. HMMWVs are NOTORIOUS for breaking without ever being used. Military equipment is so chock-full of "features" that they are actually really fragile instruments. Like he said, no than one functional military helicopter. Preferably, no military airplanes. Maybe have it so that there are a lot of broken down helicopters that could potentially be repaired, but only enough parts to get one going and to maintain it a little.puddle jumpers could have 2 on map that are functional. Maybe add a diving feature to swim down to crashed planes/boats to retrieve gear? Puddle jumpers should also come loot spawns for first aid kits, flare guns, map fragments (or GPSes), survival kits (knives, MREs, fire starting gear, pocket saw, etc.) For weapons, I feel they should be fairly limited. Maybe a revolver or a hunting rifle (could be a perfect place to spawn in a lever-action rifle! Such an aircraft attracts a certain kind of person, after all). Also, shark teeth would be phenomenal. It's kind of a staple of aviation. I painted one on one of our birds my last deployment. I would upload a pic, but the local internet is no seshu...

How many honorable KoSers are there?

Know what sucks? When you wake up from being unconscious with somebody leaning over you. My first response? "Hey, dude. Thanks for picking me up!" His response: *Unloads FNX45 mag* "Get back down so I can finish looting you." >.>"

How many honorable KoSers are there?

My group has a fairly strict KoS policy at airfields and big cities. We tend to go easy on Bambies and if we find a potential threat we watch them for a while to see what they do. Occasionally we give hte benefit of the doubt and global chat or something to let them know that we see them and that they should be careful. Funniest story, though: We were in electro one day and in a desperate cry for action we jumped in a high-pop server. After an hour of watching people come and go,one of our guys effectively said "Screw it, I'm gonna kill someone." He opened fire on a pair that were running along the harbor and in his hastiness he missed and proceeded to run around, unable to reload. I, who was in one of the cranes by the harbor and saw the whole event, popped a mosin shot at the more armed of the two. I hit him and he went down, but was still on global voice. His buddy wasn't armed and ran around punching my buddy probably upwards of twenty times in the back of his motorcycle helmet. A truly humorous moment as most of us watched him run all the way out to the end of the peninsula and back screaming on ventrillo "SHOOT HIM SHOOT HIM!" The guy on the ground told his buddy where I was, so the boxer vigorously took to a serpentine movement that proved adequate enough for me to dump upwards of twenty rounds and no more than graze him and make him poop a little. The whole time we had a member of our group en route from cherno. As the boxer and his victim, our friend, made their way to the west along the coast, our friend who was heading east finally arrived. Over global, all I heard was "Shoot this guy, he's a bandit! No! NO! Not me, him! HE'S THE--" As this happened I announce over global "He's one of us" and finish of the guy who was downed earlier. Good thing I hit him, too, because he was as fully kitted as you could get, modded M4 to boot xD. I felt really bad for the deception in the end, but man... what an encounter. I realize this doesn't really paint me as an honorable, KoSer, but understand that it was in the defense of one of our hasty friends xD Karma came round and we ended up getting wiped out by a couple of sneaky KoSers. After getting picked up by another in my party, only myself and him managed to escape from the half-dozen or so members that entered electro. In the chaos, I actually ended up killing a friendly, one of our guys was picked off by an unseen assailant, and another was executed by the guy who downed me. Pure chaos. Normally, we try to verify threat level and go from there. If you show that you are friendly, we will react accordingly. We're not big on handcuffing/bagging players and have yet to do so. Worst we ever attempted was to try to loot a guy, but he ended up combat logging. We sound pretty soulless, but as of now this is mostly the only thing to do in DayZ. There is no rewards system. We have given beans and medical aid, as well as advice to new players. We all anticipate the day when it is honorable and respected to be noble, unlike the current time when heroes are looked upon as foolish and naive.

The ACOG needs a 2nd optics mode.

I vote realism above all. I have sitting six inches from my right foot an M4 with an ACOG, a BIS, and a grippod. There is no variable zoom on an ACOG. Also, 4x is the perfect magnification for moderate-ranged engagements and accurately hitting targets up to ~400m. CQB you don't aim down sight, you instinct fire by aiming down your barrel. With a RDS, you can have both eyes open and simply have to put the dot on target to hit it. Also, ACOG have a chevron (^) reticule that works phenomenally for gauging where to aim at closer ranges. The top of the chevron is your 150m target (if zeroed to 300m) and the bottom of the chevron/top of the vertical post is your 25m/300m (same zero). Bullets are lobbed, not shot straight, after all. All they need in the game is reliable bullet trajectory and increased sway to balance shooting. If you add realistic arcing of bullets, zeroing becomes much more vital. Real life, the bullet will hit roughly the same spot if you aim at the same spot every time (same sight picture, same trigger squeeze, steady position, steady breathing, no environmental factors). If you add more barrel sway, it becomes much harder to hit a target and it eliminates the need to have spread as it currently exists. You should be able to have a BIS and an ACOG on the same rifle. I have both on my service weapon. The thing is, you would have to physically remove the ACOG in order to use the BIS. If you remove an optic, you just lost the zero. Even the most precise optics mounts still do not have exact return to zero. If you want a VERY accurate rifle, I cannot recommend enough the Blaze. You put that gold front sight post on a target, you're 99/100 gonna hit it. I was knocking down zeds that I could barely tell that they weren't trees. It needs some form of optic, but until that comes, this thing is the most accurate rifle I have found. My hardcore character had one and an entire tactical vest filled with snap loaders. That was... until he got sniped in a low-pop electro xD Man, I hate that city...
  23. Sounds like one heck of a party! Wish I could participate. I definitely wouldn't try to fight against you guys. Not because I'm scared, but because my character has been alive and through more crap than I could possible explain. I would be willing to utilize my role as a medic/CLS to assist you guys, but my odds of being able to log in are pretty slim :/

In-Game Books: What are you reading?

Found it eventually. Same thing happened with my complete Chernarus map xD Thought I would learn... Also, I never thought I would ever have a complete map. Now if only you could have a visual indicator of a waypoint set on the map. I.E., if you have a map and a compass you can have a simple arrow pointing to one destination. Would have to keep compass in hand in order to have waypoint marker, too. Maybe have a little drift in the waypoint to replicate the player naturally going off course as their azimuth changes so that you have to stop to refocus your waypoint marker... Random cool ideas ftw. EDIT: You should be able to post pieces of paper onto walls/trees/fences/other surfaces. Would make players more inclined to check for notes than just another piece of paper on the ground...

In-Game Books: What are you reading?

I normally keep a New Testament on my character for luck. I opened it once to see if it was what it said it was and didn't know how to exit out. I then proceeded to arrow through every. Single. Page. With the notion that maybe if I reached the end, it would close with the next arrow press. Nope. several good minutes of standing in a chapel with my face in a Bible, lol. It's a fantastic addition that doesn't need to be there, but is because why not? I've seen some really interesting titles that have certainly piqued my interest, but haven't had the dedication to sit down and read any of the ones upwards of a few pages. Going on a tangent, I have left a few notes on paper laying around in airfields and hospitals and the likes. Mostly stuff like "I can see you" and "I lost the game." By the way, I just lost the game :/ Also, my character that I first started carrying a Bible on (dubbed Dr. Grant) hasn't died in nearly a month. Been downed four times, broken legs at least four times as well, but haven't died. Heck of a streak.
