I *think* what you're seeing is the forum software auto-shrinking them. It does that for me, so I assume it does for anyone else as well. They are full-size (1440p) if you click on them, but they are automatically squeezed down so that they don't take up a huge chunk of your screen. The auto-size seems a bit small in the age of 1080p being the standard, but you do what you can ;) Thanks for the feedback, I wish it was something I could control :p

Dayz: the Road to Beta - PAX Aus Presentation
Tatanko replied to edwin3's topic in General Discussion
I thought it was funny. Watched it for a bit waiting for Hicks' presentation to begin last night :) -
What were you expecting that you didn't get? If you don't tell them, they can't know, and they'll probably continue to fail at meeting your expectations as they go on their merry way. Do yourself a favor and elaborate ;) Great Status Report, Brian. I'm super tired today from getting up in the middle of the night to watch the presentation -- but I don't regret it. It was informative. Good on you for getting this out while being completely zombified yourself!

Taking a convincing selfie while holding a gun always ends up a little "off" :p

It's almost certainly a financial matter. Bohemia is one of the best publishers out there in terms of supporting the freedom of its communities (especially post-release), so I don't think they would impose such restrictions without the motivation of some concern for themselves as a company.

Where there is history to be told, I will tell it. Where there is none, I will make it up :P

Switching things up a bit this week. Today we examine the legacy of Duke Ivan Kozlov, the unofficial founder of Chernarus, who left behind Devil's Castle, Kozlovka, and Pik Kozlova: http://imgur.com/a/rk2tM

Noticed a sign in Kozlovka tonight warning of... I'm not sure, actually:

Agreed. There is still some variety within what you listed, too: dirtbike vs bicycle, variants of truck, etc. In other words, every necessary niche is covered. It's unnecessary niches, game-breakers, and vanity (variety for the sake of variety) that they probably won't bother with. An example of unnecessary, in my opinion, would be large boats. Without a long-distance water destination, there's just no need for such a vehicle to exist. For game-breakers, think something along the lines of a tank -- it would ruin power balance, and adds nothing to the game really. Vanity would be having two vehicles that do the exact same job... like two different hatchbacks, for example.

Last night I had an adventure with Skyren22, and I decided to make a little album out of it and share the story. Enjoy! :) http://imgur.com/a/bE0SS Click below to see all of the pictures and captions:

I'm glad you picked up on that, because that is definitely a factor. I also forgot to mention that we switched servers at one point, going from a private hive to a public hive (meaning a totally different character). When I play for the social aspect (versus my normal PvE-focused playstyle), I'm willing to cut corners a little to make things work. That said, I'd be totally okay with them making it impossible to do and just dealing with the cards I'm dealt in all situations :P

Thanks! It was a fun adventure :) The encounter at the end was nerve-wracking, though!

Recognize any of the names in the video from around the forum? ;)

There are tickets for at least some of them in the feedback tracker, but I filed them like... a year ago and they're still not fixed. Pretty low on the priority list I imagine :P Probably something that will be addressed in beta as a fine detail. It is kind of funny that it very rarely gets talked about; I guess not many people pay attention to those signs, or just don't care enough to bring it up in conversation since it's kind of minor. It's also amusing that these incorrect signs stuck around for so long... wouldn't the older ones (the ones you posted) be from Arma 2? Example: https://feedback.dayz.com/view.php?id=17210

This week we have yet another variety pack in the form of the Witch Ring, the Stain, the Standing Stones, Topolka Dam, and Drakon island: http://imgur.com/a/w0LBG

That's pretty neat :p

Damn good screenshot, sir :) Haha the curse of the shipwreck! I got a few good shots out of that trip before I died, at least.

Care to elaborate on what "hardcore" might mean in the future? In the past, it simply locked you into 1PP. Personally, I would like to see "hardcore" include harsher environmental conditions and scarcer resources -- will this be an option for server owners at some point? If so, would they be able to configure server conditions by individual variables, or would it be an all-or-nothing flip of the switch to "hardcore" mode?

If you don't get an answer this time, make sure you speak up at the next opportunity ;) Crossing my fingers that this Q&A thing becomes a regular occurrence.

Excellent questions, Gary. I'm not sure of Hicks is planning on answering any more questions here, so I'll do what I can to bring attention to it :) For anyone who isn't sure what Gary is referring to, a couple of servers during the pre-hotfix 0.58 Experimental were running a slightly different build than the others for a few days. We specifically sought out those servers for their extreme conditions and it was one of the most entertaining adventures I've ever had in DayZ. For an idea of what it was like: http://imgur.com/a/feGuA

Your ignorance and self-interest are astounding. I'll leave it at that.

That would completely defeat the point. Instead, how about bettering yourself as a person by learning to identify things written in Cyrillic? I can't read or speak Russian to save my life, but I can look at any street sign in the game and know exactly what it says. By the time you got done translating everything (as you have volunteered to do), I'm betting you would have picked up enough to do the same.

The top speed of the V3S varies between the two models, by the way. The chassis cab has a *slightly* higher top speed than the cargo variant :) I'm still undecided about the changes as well, but I trust Senchi to handle it. He and his team do good work. There's always time to make adjustments, and they wouldn't make drastic changes to the city without some sort of gameplay-related need behind it. DaNiC, it looks like the old City Hall is gone. I was under the impression they were going to make it enterable, but I see they opted to put the much taller and already-complete building from Novo in its place. That's just smart use of resources, even if we all wish for a ton of unique buildings. There is no possible way you ACTUALLY read the Status Report:
