Need to talk to a DEV. Or someone like that.
Tatanko replied to srgt.scales's topic in General Discussion
Are you serious right now? Wow. That's what you needed a dev to answer? Your questions could very well be answered by common sense. -

Get over yourself. You're not important. -
I've taken to calling this the "Gvozdno Graveyard" because you can literally see Gvozdno in the background. I even made a little wiki page for it :) I need to take some better screenshots though, I didn't realize until after I was done playing just how washed-out the pictures look. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Graveyard_(Gvozdno)

Well, eventually there won't be a public hive from what I understand, so switching servers will result in you having to start from scratch anyway If I'm not mistaken, that already happens. At least it seems to, perhaps it's just desync.
-
Same! Something dark and creepy buried in the woods of the Black Forest, perhaps? :)
-
This is one thing I have never, ever done on the standalone. I had kind of forgotten you could even do it. I'm at work and I can't really watch the video so I'll ask: does anyone know how many bullets it takes to make this occur? The only video I ever watched of a gas station explosion was a game between two people hitting the pumps with an ax :|

So would I. By "above" I don't think Senchi meant straight north, more like northeast. There are a couple little places for a verrrryy small town to be added. To be fair, the game is in alpha... they aren't really marketing it -- to anyone
-
This is very true. I really do hope they put all of that to good use and make the north feel as "complete" as the southern coast does.
-
Oops, you're correct. I'm forgetting the proper "name" then; the town I'm referring to never had any road signs or anything. What I meant was the town in the extreme northwest :)
-
My post went relatively unnoticed then, so I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it. So that means there are potentially THREE towns we know of still to be added to the game: Dobroe, Smirnovo, and Black Meadow (which was less than half finished and got pulled from the game again in 0.45). I'm hoping they add more cool areas in the north besides just towns. They're already off to a good start with the new quarry.

^ What he said. I originally posted about it 2 months ago before Novodmitrovsk had even been announced: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/187059-novodmitrovsk-smirnovo/ I think the sign I'm referencing was added in 0.43.
-
I went into a server with about 20 other people playing last night and didn't see a single person in Novodmitrovsk. Then I decided to check out Karmanovka, and wouldn't you know it: the second I stop to pick up an item I hear someone yelling "HELLO?" over the mic. Thankfully it was a friendly encounter.
-
I'm surprised they're adding another new town already. I'm still waiting to hear about Smirnovo.
-
How come you only took pictures of the inside of the tower? A little context via surroundings would go a long way in helping figure out where it was.
-
I created that particular page and man am I glad I ever did. So much easier to just link people to a full explanation with pictures :p

What do you think is more of a cluster fuck? Balota vs NEAF
Tatanko replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
It's to the point where I basically avoid the NEAF entirely. There's just no point in going there. There's hardly any loot compared to Balota or the NWAF and probably 1/2 of all of my deaths via other players have been random KOS encounters at NEAF. -
I see what you mean. Like I said, I don't use an out-of-game map much -- just when it makes my life easier. I don't NEED it at all, especially if I have a compass.
-
If there's one thing I've learned in my 250+ hours, it's that taking risks and interacting with other players is all we've got. As such, I don't grow too attached to characters because I value player interaction over gear that is quickly and easily replaced. The only reason you should ever choose to preserve your character above all else is when you don't have the time to regear should something happen. That said, I am a cautious and skeptical player as well. Just don't take character preservation too seriously is all I'm saying -- characters are replaceable, but opportunities can be missed forever.

I usually have a map open on my tablet while I play, but mostly to help others I'm playing with who aren't nearby to me. I'll also use it to pre-plan a longer trip across the map if I intend to go somewhere specific, just because it's easier to look at a map than completely dream it up in my head.' To anyone with the "Real players don't need a map" mentality I have this to say: I pity the man who doesn't use every resource available to him. If I can find a use for it, it's useful to me and improves my experience.

The scary truth about the firestaton...
Tatanko replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I'm still going to call it the Firehouse/Fire Station same as I always have. It's the "medical building" habit I need to break since the 1-story orange buildings no longer occupy that role. I've translated every billboard and many, many, many other signs in Chernarus in my time playing. If there are any you're curious about, I've probably already translated them and could save you the work. Some are really quite interesting. Example: You know the soda machines and billboard ads you see all over the place? The name of that soda essentially translates to "phlegm" or "spit" :P -
Yeah really, I'm surprised they didn't just immediately open fire.
-
We will always remember you, oh pointy hill of stary.
Tatanko replied to Mark Darkers's topic in General Discussion
This was posted on here the day that 0.45 was pushed to experimental, and it was more or less translated by the next day. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Grass_Pyramid -
That mechanic doesn't work yet, either. Other interesting medical things to note: morphine will fix broken, fractured, and painful limbs entirely and the same goes for the splint (yes, the splint fixes a painful limb). Painkillers don't work yet, I don't think.
-
I really doubt it. I myself am hoping for some expansion, but a map that size is an unrealistic expectation.

I've had people help me when I was fresh. It can go 2 ways: either they see you as a threat because you have nothing to lose, or they see you as not a threat because they are better equipped than you. Other than people specifically hunting for fresh spawns, I'd say I generally encounter more of the latter.
