I get this problem a LOT. Not the majority of attempts, but a pretty big chunk. I always want to think it's a server connection issue, but then I see it's got a bunch of people in it and a good ping. What gives?

Just going to leave this here... http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Unnamed_Town

There's definitely a pump there unless they recently removed it. It's right near one of the houses that make up the little village on the southwestern side of the map. I haven't been to the island since 0.43 or 0.44 so can't say that with 100% certainty. It's never been marked on any map I've ever seen for some reason. I guess the island receives so little attention that even the people in charge of making the maps for the fan websites don't realize it's there.

Don't eat anything for a good while before you set off, you need the stomach space for water. Fill up at the water pump near Kamyshovo (it takes 40 drinks empty to full) then get to Skalisty ASAP. Bring three or more canteens, only drink them once ready to leave the island. Water time: To get there you will want to go to the southeasternmost corner of Skalisty island and set your compass to 106 degrees. Consider bringing two compasses in case one gets ruined before you get there (happened to me). Double-tap ALT so you don't alter your course by nudging the mouse. Swim time from Skalisty is 2 hrs 8 minutes, keep track of it and watch for server restarts, you don't want to overshoot the island if you walk away and lose track of where you are (I assume anyone swimming for two hours is not holding the key the entire time). Thanks so much for all the detailed information, it's incredibly helpful and I know it was a good bit of effort on your part to figure all of this out. I had actually meant to ask you and forgot: are you saying server resets/disconnects won't affect your inventory or location (since you're in the water) when you rejoin? That was my primary concern with making the journey. Also, I'm not sure if you knew or not but there is actually a water pump on Skalisty Island :) Haha. Excellent!

As somebody who didn't play the mod, this is completely new to me. I've never even heard of this. This is blowing my mind right now. OP: thanks for being so detailed with your post. It was both interesting and informative! I guess I know what I'm doing with an afternoon during my vacation :)

Was this something in the mod? I haven't a clue what you folks are talking about.

NWAF study - Redesigning Skalitsy island travelling
Tatanko replied to Pokerguy12's topic in General Discussion
I wish I could journey to Skalisty more often, but I'm always afraid of losing or ruining my gear in the process. It's really quite a nice place to spend time even without the motivation of loot. It's insanely quiet and I've never once encountered another player there other than my own friends. -
.46 coming to stable this wednesday 2 July
Tatanko replied to alferret's topic in General Discussion
This is good news, and leaves me wondering what will occur with experimental once this is pushed to stable. For those who have been asking, 0.46 is mostly additional map changes in the northeast, a few additional small items, etc. Since the lead map designer is going on vacation for a month, my guess is 0.47 will be entirely items and game mechanics. -
Those little known and well known tourist spots..the nine raging boners of the apoc
Tatanko replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
The "chalk giant" is definitely there and always has been. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Hill_Figure As for the golf course, I should have been more specific: I intended for you to keep your eye on it for the future :p -

Tatanko replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
The golf course isn't totally obvious other than where you can see it on the map, unfortunately. My hope is that they'll do some terrain alterations and add a few buildings there to make it more "real" like they are doing with the quarry north of Gvozdno. -
Senchi's Last Map Addition Before Month Vacation
Tatanko replied to Etherious's topic in General Discussion
That's a fair guess. There are a few other pre-developed spots available as well: -141 003 -094 015 -092 007 -079 028 -066 008 -049 002 The area you're referring to is (014 033). My guess is that Smirnovo (http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Smirnovo) will be at either (094 015) or (092 007) based on the road sign, so it's likely one of the other ones. The farther west the better, I say :) According to the map there are three water pumps there now, but I didn't see any the last time I was there about a week ago on 0.45 except for the one that's always been there. It's very empty, but being nestled up against the woods, it's actually a very serene and beautiful place to relax. (Below is one of my screenshots from that trip that I uploaded to the wiki): -

I take it you're referring to my post (see that "Quote" button? use it next time). If that's the case, you should direct your attention to that little world "memorial" I put next to the words "Grass Pyramid". -
...and yet somehow, in the year 2014, someone is "discovering" this despite the existence of forum search and the always-reliable Google. It's mind-blowing.

Other places you didn't mention: -A second dry lake at (047 020) -Grass Pyramid memorial -Graveyard at Gvozdno -The golf course (040 023) -
Why do you insist on putting in large cities?
Tatanko replied to FrostDMG's topic in General Discussion
I really like Novodmitrovsk, particularly the effort that went into the industrial area, the new town hall, and the river/canal on the southern side. That said, we don't need any more cities. I would like a few more small villages and maybe another medium town, then call it done. Give us more unique locations and cool things to find out in the wild. Places that will be difficult to find but rewarding in their coolness, their view, or whatever. -
U.N Peacekeepers journey to...THE FORGOTTEN ISLAND
Tatanko replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in Gallery
The difficult part about this island is what swimming does to your clothing and equipment. I'm always afraid of losing or ruining my stuff when I swim across. The last time I explored over there, I had two of my buddies watch my equipment on the Cap while I swam across the bay with nothing but an ax and my boots :P All of the screenshots on the wiki page are from said naked journey: http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Skalisty_Island -
I voted AKM. I currently have both as well, and I'll hold onto both until the M4 runs out of ammo. Once it's out of ammo, I'm ditching it. Simply put, maintaining and supplying a fully-kitted AKM is going to be easier right now than an M4 thanks to the spawns. The AKM may not be easy to find, but once you find it you're set -- you can't say the same about the M4.
-
I found tons of stuff for the AKM, including clips, until I found an actual AKM. Now that I have the gun itself, I can't find anything for it -_- I did manage to find a handguard rail at least.
-
Are you playing on 0.45 or 0.46 in the video? Just curious.
-
I agree with this 100%. There's no real reason they couldn't add it back, even if they had to modify it a bit. Cap'n, great read. How much of that is truly official? If it's legitimate based on ArmA backstory, I would love to add some of this to the wiki.
-
Better or not, it's probably at least marginally easier to find.
-
Not sure how much you'll be able to collect. In the Mod, tents were ~50 slots if I am remembering correctly which isn't a whole lot more than a Mountain Backpack. You'd need multiple tents just to maintain a small collection of primary weapons.

It's a tie between Kamenka and Kumyrna for me. I love Kamenka for it's quaintness and the extreme quiet that comes with being out-of-the-way. It simply isn't visited by anyone ever. I have never run into another person (except my own friends) in that town. Nearby Bay Tikhaya is gorgeous, too -- as are the fields to the north of the town. Kumyrna is likable for it's mystery. It just exudes this sense of conflict, tragedy, and complete emptiness all at once. I want to know what happened here!
-
74 possible locations?! Holy crap. No wonder I couldn't find one when I was looking around the other day. These really are rare.
-
The thread title is a bit misleading. "Confirmed" means just that: it's certain, it has been verified. Then you go on to list all this stuff that probably isn't even in the game and hasn't been confirmed  Sooooo as per the OP, are there now two new towns? I'm confused. He circled two places on the map, but I only see parts of one town and the language being used doesn't make any sense.
