    I don't know why, but I found this part especially amusing :p The sad part is, you're probably right! Friends of mine that don't play as often will jump into the game several versions after the fact and complain that the zombies are too hard... while those of us who play regularly are like, "What? They're difficult? Since when?"

    [Virtual Tour] Islands of Debuggery I

    These islands were fun to explore! I think my buddy and I made it to about #15 that night before we turned back. Sure enough, though, we made it all the way back to Svetlo without starving or running out of water. I, too, am curious about persistence in these areas. If Debug Island is able to store loot, I may just be crazy enough to take advantage of it ;)
  3. I don't think it needs to be completely stripped (leave the hangars, obviously, and keep the prison building as well), but they should move the entirety of the tent camp itself in my opinion. I'd like to see it somewhere other than the West, as I feel there is enough out that way already. I also think it's too close to the base near Pavlovo currently. Could be! I check that location every time a new build is released.

    Looking for your best cinematic DayZ screenshots

    I have a "portfolio" of my favorites among thousands of screenshots I've taken in the Standalone. I'm very proud of some of those captures. I definitely have my hesitations about submitting anything for this, but I can also understand needing some assistance for a truly great compilation -- that takes a looooot of time. I dunno.

    There are times where I wish post-zombie Chernarus were a bit more gritty. Then there are other times when the weather in the server is absolutely *perfect* and I just run around marveling at how beautiful the countryside is. It's a double-edged sword.
  6. Are you talking about the one next to the shipwreck at Rify? I would hardly call that "just as you come into Berezino." Anyway... there are three of those crash sites (Rify, Balota, and Kumyrna) and currently they do not spawn anything. They are supposed to spawn things in the future, including the SMERSH vest. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Helicopter_Crash_Sites#Fixed

    New Towns in 0.48.124737

    Hello everyone! Three new towns (at least) were added in today's experimental update for 0.48. They are Severograd (a city, and a work-in-progress), as well as Vavilovo and Sinistok. Unfortunately, Vavilovo and Sinistok have no town signs as of yet and there are no other clues to tell which is which at the moment. Enjoy the following pictures of the new towns...     Excellent advice all around; very similar to my thinking. I haven't tried to stash loot yet. I want to set up a camp with a tent or two, but I can never find any :(

    I'm definitely aware of that. It's been in and out of the game on a number of occasions since the alpha was released, but only now has it been included in its entirety and in working form. What was there (a few buildings) pales in comparison to the complete overhaul the area got with this update.

    Excellent observation; I've noted the same. For me, in general, it seems like I run into other players more frequently when the population number is low. Thanks for the much-needed reminder!

    In-game Currency

    As everyone has already been saying, I see bartering being prevalent, not any kind of currency. It makes the most sense in this sort of scenario, and I think it will be the most productive for players.

    I've lost three 75 round drums already thanks to the damn scroll wheel. The real issue is actually that the drum disappears when it's dropped. I could learn to deal with accidentally reloading, but at least allow me to pick the thing back up when I drop it.

    I have been saved from a bullet to the head by a ballistic helmet on at least one occasion, possibly two. Everyone in my unit would probably tell you the same.

    Except there's one issue with simplifying it as much as you have: in the case of DayZ SA, a lot of activity takes place on the server itself and is then sent to the player... meaning game performance is affected significantly by connection speed (both at the server and at the client PC) and not just by the player's hardware. The game behaves VERY differently for me depending on where I play it and what kind of connection I have at those places. As for the laptop comment: just stop. I'm not going to argue with you, but if you're looking to start an argument then I'll just report you. Making anti-laptop comments will accomplish nothing except starting a flame war, and I'll leave it at that.

    Not true! I think roleplaying as one is currently pointless (as the OP has demonstrated, unfortunately); but medics are definitely needed. Trusted Medics of the Wasteland and the Reddit Rescue Force are two great examples of how medical knowledge and a willingness to help can be very appreciated and useful in Chernarus. I've enlisted the help of the RRF on one occasion and was definitely thankful for it, even if it was just a broken leg (prior to the implementation of splints). When it's organized the way these two groups handle their business, it's actually quite safe for the medics too... they rarely travel alone and they're very good at what they do. They're all veteran players who know how to handle anything that is thrown at them. I wish more people like yourself would learn negotiation tactics. I almost never run into another player and come out on the other side by using violence. Nearly every encounter I've had lately was able to be diffused in one way or another, and I've been helped by others nearly as much as I've helped other people.
  23. I'm starting a campaign to start referring to it as the Veresnik military base. I've always referred to it that way and I don't understand why so many seem to use Vybor. Not saying you're "wrong", Veresnik just seems more accurate to me since that's where it actually is :p

    A person's behavior matters way more to me than what they're wearing or what they're carrying.
  25. New town? Are you referring to Novodmitrovsk? That was added in 0.46, which began testing in experimental like two months ago. Not trying to rain on your parade, but it's hardly a "new" town at this point. Either way, I liked the video! Sorry if I'm being picky haha.
