Next up, the finished Graveyard at Gvozdno:
-
A few more things today. We will start with my own pictures of the finished Quarry at Severograd:
-
Nice! I need to give that and the graveyard a look.

I think a dedicated thread for this sort of thing might be interesting, but as ChainReactor pointed out, 0.49 has been "exposed" to the public for the better part of a month... other than the map changes (which I have a thread for already), there isn't a whole lot of unseen material in this patch.

Ahh, the Gvozdno Graveyard? I've been keeping a eye on that as it's developed but I didn't get a chance to check it out last night. Your picture isn't loading at the moment, but that's okay, I'll just go see it for myself :) I also need to go see if any progress was made on the quarry by Severograd... I completely skipped over it by accident on my way east last night. I don't know whether this is sarcasm or not :p Thank you, I think. I play on a 2011 Macbook Pro (Windows 7 via Boot Camp) so the game could certainly look miles better on some superior hardware. I usually crank the settings up when I take screenshots; it's not that high all the time when I play or my framerate would be terrible. Agreed! They are definitely taking their time and doing it right.

Found two new towns north of the now-finished Severograd this evening, Mamino and Troitskoe: ...and a beautiful view of the finished Severograd:

Yup! If you visit the NEAF, they have prototype civilian airfield buildings in place already. I'm guessing they'll use the same ones for the Balota Airstrip.

Balota Military Camp Moving to New Location! [SenChi Tweet]
Tatanko replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
If you look at the map, it appears as though the Pavlovo base will be removed as well. It's not labeled explicitly the way that the Tisy base and the NWAF are. Then again, neither is Zelenogorsk (and Green Mountain has never been labeled). We know for sure that spawns are changing with 0.49 coming to stable. They've already changed on the current experimental build. As of now, they are set to spawn you anywhere from Novodmitrovsk all the way down the coast to Chernogorsk. -
How does everyone here break up the DayZ monotony?
Tatanko replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
I contribute to the wiki. A lot. Chances are if you're using the wiki you're looking at something I've created/edited/uploaded at one point or another. There's never a time when there isn't something that needs added to or improved on the wiki, especially with the game in alpha. -
I had never seen any since they had been implemented, then last week I saw 4 in 3 days and all of them were very close to (or at) the NWAF.

A couple new things from this weeks Status Report
Tatanko replied to Forrelist's topic in General Discussion
I was hoping to hear more specifics about the military base being relocated from Balota, but they only just barely mentioned it. I'd also like to hear more about this "long-abandoned prison complex" they referred to. -
It wasn't when he posted it ;) I looked after seeing this topic as well, because I had been checking the Dev Tracker frequently.

Well I've officially teamed up with a weed smoker.
Tatanko replied to OptimumVision's topic in General Discussion
This. Not everyone who smokes is a stereotype. -
I don't have the titular bipod-equipped Mosin, but my character has been around for 100+ hours. It's been a long journey.

Once DayZ is complete; Will it require studying?
Tatanko replied to Act III's topic in General Discussion
Exactly! I think that with anything, you should be able to at least get started and "function" as a player. To be truly good at the game, you'll need to invest time into learning either through experience or study (or both). If you want an advantage over me in the game, you better be prepared to match my commitment -- that's all I'm really saying :) -
You don't need additional software. Check your Steam settings and see if the screenshot action was unassigned somehow. You're looking for a complicated solution to what is probably a very simple problem. I don't know if FRAPS creates assignment conflicts with keys, but that's worth looking into as well (or just don't run it if you don't have much of a use for it).

Definitely true. I don't think that staying in one place all the time is going to be possible.

One weird trick to avoid upcoming character wipe
Tatanko replied to kakysas666's topic in General Discussion
It really won't take long, and thanks to the changes being made server-side for loot spawns, you'll see a lot less military gear and more civilian equipment. The definition of "geared" is going to change, and being a fully-kitted soldier type is going to require more effort. I, too, am quite loaded out at the moment. Nothing rare like your bipod-equipped Mosin, but I do have a fully-kitted AKM with several drum mags and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. This is in addition to full TTsKO clothing, green tac vest, lots of ready-to-eat food (rice, sardines, powdered milk, etc.), cantines, medical supplies, you name it. I am quite excited! So are all of my friends that play. We all recognize this for what it is: a moment, however long, of equality on the battlefield. -
Very informative (to the forum-at-large). Most people forget that there is in fact a water pump on the island. They never removed anything. What gave you that idea? :p I've given the same thought to barricading myself on Skalisty, but it seems like it would be one of the first places somebody would look for a camp once that is implemented in the game. If you never planned on leaving, it would be great.

No offense taken B)

I agree that people need to be less jumpy, but the character wipe is more or less a done deal. They didn't explicitly say "We're wiping your characters!!!", but they did announce that they'll be starting everyone over with a clean slate very soon for various reasons. Isn't that basically saying the same thing?
-
I'm not out to kill my character, but I'm definitely going to up my risk level a LOT from now until 0.49 is released. Why not, right?
-
Thank you for your excellent contribution to the thread

My current stable character has been alive for over 100 hours of gameplay now, through many builds of the game. He's been shot, pummeled, bandaged, injected, made sick, held up, climbed many ladders, and been forced to do a number of unscrupulous things. It's been a wonderful journey and I never imagined him lasting this long. Every time I log in is the time I might lose that character -- I never dreamed he would succumb to a reset. This character has also been to Debug Island and back, and explored the islands to the north of Svetlo and made it back. That's in addition to making it to every town several times over, running all the major routes countless times, going many places most people have never been (including said islands), and just generally traveling a hell of a lot of distance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmFN9C9PVpg
