    Wait, is that the one behind the prison building? From my viewpoint up top, it didn't look like the ladder went down nearly far enough to allow you to get back out. The one I just posted pictures of was on the western end of the base, closer to where the brown brick garage buildings are. Where is this "big one" you've posted? I was also under the impression that there was a third, one that you couldn't enter (it may have a grate you can look through?).

    So I mistakenly believed that there was only one underground area in this new base. I visited another area on the outskirts of the base, and this one you're actually able to exit once you're in. Be warned though, the ladder does not go the whole way down and you will drop a few feet when you reach the bottom. It will likely ruin your pants and boots (and anything inside them), so you'll need to decide whether it's worth it or not. Instead, you can just enjoy these shots I took:

    No sir, haven't played much in the Arma-verse. I actually own the entire Arma 2 collection (and Arma X, etc.) as well as Arma 3, but they were all purchased after tons of playing DayZ Standalone. I've only got like 8 hours in on the Mod. There's a lot I could learn about this series that would dramatically improve my understanding of Chernarus+.

    There are only two of them as far as I know, and they're fairly nearby to each other. When I saw this one outside Mogilevka to the north the other day, I kind of did a double-take... like, huh? I've never seen this before!

    I'm thinking it will probably just be removed until it's ready, perhaps for 0.50 Stable or 0.51 Experimental. Either way, I am going back there this evening to take some more shots of the underground areas before it disappears. I fully expect it to be gone next Wednesday with the Experimental update ;)

    any updates for ETA of release?

    Every time we see initial implementation of some new feature (like horticulture/barricading yesterday), the beta gets farther and farther away in my mind. I said to my friend yesterday, "Will this game ever be finished? It doesn't seem like they will ever be done adding things. No one will be satisfied until we have the first true reality simulator." I mean really... look how far we've come since December of last year, then look at how much there is left to do. It's overwhelming to say the least :p Exactly. It's not like you're unable to play the game until then. Sooooo you're calling them incompetent while choosing to play their game? Okay then... Not sure why you wouldn't just spend your time on something else. It's not worth stressing about, it's just a game.
  10. This. Perhaps it's just coincidence, but the few times I've run into people who are "talking to themselves", they are almost always a recently-respawned character and almost always friendly for some reason.

    I initially thought so as well, but actually it isn't. This is north of Severograd at 077 005. I had no idea a military base would end up in this location.

    Excellent as always, Mr. Yutani. You should do a collective one of these for the all the new little towns that have popped up in 0.49/0.50: Mamino, Troitskoe, Berezhki, and Svergino (and the castle). I would love to have a better look at the castle especially.

    Exactly. I always understood "bandits" to have the primary motivation of trying to acquire somebody else's stuff. That's what a bandit is, by definition: someone who steals things. As you said, if you kill someone, you're probably going to ruin at least half their stuff.
  15. So I've been doing more and more hunting in this game as time goes on, but there are still a few animals that I have yet to get a kill from. Primarily I'm talking about chickens and rabbits, but also the pig (domesticated, not the boar). I guess with the pig, I have to ask: is it actually in the game and spawning? As for rabbits and chickens, I have a vague idea of where to find them. However, I have not ever seen a rabbit since they became hunt-able in the Standalone. I have seen chickens once ever, in Msta, and for some reason harvesting them resulted in nothing (and yes, I killed them personally, not a zombie... and yes I looked all over the ground for the meat and feathers). Can anyone give me some tips on where to look for these critters? I think that's my biggest obstacle: knowing where to look. I'm hoping for some exact locations and not just "they're in fields, duh."

    I see goats about 90% of the time when I go to Msta. Nice. Thanks! I only rarely see them at Msta.

    Now that I think about it, a name change does kind of make sense. "Private" in the sense of the Standalone will not be the same as "private" was in the Mod, so it makes sense that you would call it something different in order to distinguish that fact.

    Announcements about new features and content should be filed into two categories in your mind: "near future" and "sometime down the road". Anyone trying to give an exact timeline is wasting their breath, and trying to hold anyone to a deadline is rather pointless. It is what it is. Nothing should be assumed. Ever. I gave the Mod a try a few months back and didn't like it for this very reason. I didn't really have any bad experiences with admins, I just quickly grew tired of all the hoops you had to jump through to even find and play on a decent server. I played an "Overpoch" variant specifically and didn't care for how anything worked compared to the Standalone. The admins should still have some power, but I'm undecided yet as to what I want them to be capable of. Agreed. Few will be able to afford to waste RL money for their own gain in-game. You just completely changed what I understood "shards" to be. Your definition matches what all of us have been referring to as "hives" up to this point.

    That would make sense. It would be similar to how chickens spawn in Msta next to (what looks like) bird cages on the northwest side and then wander all around the area.

    I'll definitely be giving that a shot this evening if there are sufficient Experimental servers active for me to play on. Any idea where you placed one (near what town)? What I meant to say, Shrub, is that I would like to find a pig and "make friends with it" :) Perhaps ask him to be my travelling companion?

    Really? I find DayZDB to be less cluttered, but I also turn off pretty much everything but town names. Izurvive is functionally superior due to the tools available, but I find DayZDB to be easier on the eyes. Either way, most of my time spent looking at a map is done using the DayZ Central app for Android on my tablet. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.skunkfu.dzcsa&hl=en I agree with you about the "information is power" part. You can be a hardass and claim you don't use maps, but you're really just putting yourself at a disadvantage if you don't use them. Use it when you need it, and don't use it when you don't need it :)
