Ding, ding, ding! :)

Still working on 12 All correct except for #11. I really doubt anyone will get that one because the picture has little to no context to go on. I'll give you a hint: it's in the southeast in the shadow of a mountain.

It's not quite that simple though. The fact that it's in the game at all means that it affects everyone. Choosing not to eat other people doesn't stop it from happening to you. I think people are more worried about being eaten than eating other people. Agreed. I'm okay with it being in the game, but there should be consequences that steer you towards other means of sustenance.

Excellent as always. One of my favorite additions in 0.50!

Looks to be Mogilevka judging by the "odd" yellow house in the background! :P http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/212909-lets-talk-about-this-yellow-house/

I've watched several of my friends fall through the spiral staircase in the police station. It almost always seems to kill them. I've personally fallen through as well, but it didn't kill me. Generally I just die instantly, but the last time I was affected by this bug this is exactly how it happened to me as well. It actually kind of weirded me out because I wasn't expecting it to be a drawn-out process of suffering and then dying since all of my experience up to that point has been insta-death. Definitely not it. I've been on an SSD since back in April and it didn't change anything for me in that regard.

I'm usually either trying to avoid people or the exact opposite, and which one I am doing at the moment determines where I spend my time. If I'm trying to avoid contact with strangers, I tend to stick to the smaller, out-of-the-way towns and locations that I think will have loot or something of interest to me. Example: I spent half an hour last night hanging out in Guglovo. Love that little village!

How do I not panic/shake when I get in a gunfight?
Tatanko replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
Interesting that you put it that way. It is an adrenaline rush, isn't it? I still get the shakes from time to time if I find myself in a particularly crazy situation, but after 600 hours they are farther and farther between. -
How To Find Secret Military Base w/ Map | DayZ Standalone Tips
Tatanko replied to BlueCollarhero's topic in Gallery
Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean to come across as a jerk (though I certainly tried to, huh?). It's actually a very well-done video on the topic, so I'm sure it will be useful to plenty of people who don't already know. -
SoulFirez, what kind of islands are you referring to? If you mean something like Debug Island, I don't think those would be a viable solution even with boats. The amount of time you'd waste wouldn't be worth it, in my opinion... not without something really, really rare to hide from people. As for the smaller islands closer to the mainland: those don't really offer any cover. Right now no one has any real reason to look there, but they would definitely notice anything bigger than a backpack being stashed there. It would be pretty easy to get to as well.
-
Some people swear they're fairly common, but I've come across only two since they were added to the game a little while ago. I don't know if I would call them "rare".

how has the dry wells affected your gameplay
Tatanko replied to kermo50's topic in General Discussion
I was very careful to say "for the purposes of this game" because I 100% agree with you :) -
how has the dry wells affected your gameplay
Tatanko replied to kermo50's topic in General Discussion
You should always prioritize peaches over bacon; they provide a greater number of calories for a given amount of stomach space AND they provide much more hydration than bacon does (bacon provides essentially zilch). They are, for the purposes of this game, a better food in every way. Not entirely true. Dry foods (rice, powdered milk, cereal) actually remove water when they are consumed and many other foods add a negligible, almost non-existent amount of water when consumed (berries, bacon, and kiwi to name a few). Granted, everything but the dry food at least contributes something, only about half of the consumables in Chernarus will actually give you a worthwhile amount of water. BUT, as you pointed out, maintaining an existing health status is pretty easy right now, so once you're set you can rely on less-water-saturated foods to maintain your levels. Agreed. My only knowledge pertaining to pond locations up to this point was to do with fishing. Now, my travel plans have to include stops at ponds. It has definitely affected my migration for sure. -
[DayZ Colony] Medic Colony Demonstration (Private Shard Role-Play)
Tatanko replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Great demonstration. Looking forward to seeing what else your colonies can do! -
Love the Origins series! Glad your health has improved :)

I think weapons in general should be uncommon, and magazines should be rare. Arming yourself is something I would like to see made difficult. Having a gun should be an earned privilege in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly. I don't want to discredit the guy entirely, but a big part of his success in this instance was the complete carelessness of the people he was playing against.

This little "issue" with guns spawning like crazy in City Hall in Novodmitrovsk has an unintended but fantastic side effect: conflict. Throughout the Experimental period of 0.50, my friends and I would trek there with the sole intent of running in to people. It's an awesome place to get into a fight, unless you're "on top" because there's only one way out. I'm not normally a PvP kind of person, but fights here feel far more realistic than the random violent encounters I have elsewhere which are usually over in two seconds and very one-sided.

Bean King isn't anyone's name, by the way. It's one of the post-number-based user titles of the forum :p

We exchanged fire, unfortunately I had no ammo. He waited for me to get back up and offered me friendship. True Hero. I love you man.
Tatanko replied to twig (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Something similar happened to me about a month ago on 0.50 Experimental: I was rummaging around Vavilovo and an Aussie fellow and I spooked each other. He shot me in the leg, but we quickly made peace and he even trusted me enough afterwards to give me bandages and some ammo for my Repeater :) Unfortunately, like most of my friendly encounters in the last six months or so, he and I parted ways afterwards. There's an uneasiness that lingers after these sorts of events, even if you were willing to help each other out. That makes it difficult to continue travelling together even if you don't immediately kill one another. -
Here we go again! Stable branch was updated to 0.50 today, and with that came a number of new map changes that were not included at any point during Experimental. For the previous changes in 0.50 Experimental, see my other thread here. First up in today's update is a town I've personally been waiting for since July: Belaya Polana. Located in the far northeast.

This roughly translates to what I have in the title of the thread ("Kamensk Inspired by Kadykchan"). This town has not yet been added, but this gives me a lot of hope that it will be an interesting and unique location when it is implemented. Perhaps in the next Experimental? We already have the awesome mine facility nearby and the associated military base as well, so this area should be pretty awesome when it's all said and done. Have a look at the real-life Kadykchan to get a feel for what he's talking about in the tweet. This is an area that is abandoned in real life, and very decayed looking. Given that this was a coal mining town, it is very fitting that there's a huge mine nearby. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kadykchan This place is creepy! :o
