Next up, we have further changes to the quarry at Severograd. There is now a processing plant, construction equipment, and a pond in the middle.

It took a lot longer than I expected due to Thursday's patch being nighttime only for the most part and all of the issues yesterday with the launch of 0.52 on Stable yesterday, but here are the rest of the changes from the update! First up are the "new" (really just "improved") mountains of Grozovye Doly, Lysaya Gora, and Lysina. The first is next to Novodmitrovsk, the second is nearby to Kamensk, and the third is all the way out west near Sinistok.

My point was that what he said was confusing/misleading if you aren't used to reading it in that context.

Yeah, really. That's not been the only time, either. Let's not forget similar outages for Xbox Live, too... nothing like the really long PSN one, but it has still had its outages.
-
Gorgeous! This is exactly the kind of work I hope to be producing soon myself. I need to completely relearn how to use Photoshop or something similar again though. Thanks for sharing.

That's what he's talking about. They are slowly reestablishing connections. It's not the most user-friendly language so I can understand that you didn't get that.

It's like you didn't even read the post :|

This. You basically got a huge discount on a finished product in exchange for assistance in testing the work-in-progress as it is developed. You've invested your time and energy in a very vague sense, but you have not invested in the financial/corporate way that you're thinking. The game would still be made through funding from Bohemia Interactive without Early Access, which is the whole point behind a major publisher purchasing the development team and fostering its progress with its own resources.
-
You know nothing about the update process, you've made that abundantly clear.
-
I don't think you have any idea how much work that would entail, particularly at a time when all available resources (read: very limited) need to be dedicated to getting things up and running properly.
-
It's all good!

Most of the attacks I see are coming from eastern China, not the Korean peninsula. Interesting. A "buggy patch"? Isn't that every single update for whiners like you?
-
Thanks! Hopefully I'll have some time to get back out there and explore the rest tonight. All the servers were nighttime when I had a chance to play last night, so screenshots weren't happening.

See, the thing is, it's not anywhere near that easy. Neither is creating a new town, which requires countless hours of placing items and buildings, then adjusting, then adjusting some more to make sure everything is correct and that objects don't clip through each other, the terrain doesn't clip through buildings, etc. It's way, way more work than you're making it out to be. Building Chernarus is not like playing with Legos or Minecraft. The map team also has plenty of ideas for unique locations, buildings, etc. once their principle map-building is complete. They've very nearly finished adding all the new areas to the map, and they aren't simply going to quit their jobs when that's done. Have patience.

Those same people are too busy concerning themselves with loot they'll eventually lose (and cry about losing) to explore other aspects of the game and find out what about the experience is really compelling to them.
-
The goal is to eventually have quite a few more people per server than the current limit of 50. Don't forget we've already worked our way up from 40.

Was that a pun or did you mistakenly misspell sleigh? :p

This. A truly peaceful situation in DayZ is tenuous at best and will always have an air of tension about it even when nothing bad is happening or likely to happen. You could see this as bad, but I just see it as "the way that DayZ is." Really the only way to create even uneasy peace is for the people in attendance to be heavily screened, heavily restricted, and have something hanging over their heads as a consequence for violating said peace. http://gawker.com/christmas-is-a-wonderful-secular-holiday-1665427426 For what it's worth: rather than following a broad goal of getting the whole world to agree to a ceasefire, I'm throwing a small holiday gathering of my own in-game for a few friends :)

Now that we've got a variety of seeds coming into the game (with presumably more on the way eventually), I feel like we should be able to throw some of these on the fire after we have harvested the plants to act as an additional source of nutrition. This would be a subtle addition but it would have a great impact on immersion for all the simpler it is, at least in my opinion. While we're at it, how about making it possible to harvest seeds from the sunflower plants all over Chernarus. We could eat their seeds too!

I'm ready for it! It'll be the perfect hunting tool to carry around with me when I eventually become a hermit somewhere. Unless more weapons are planned, this will also be the closest thing in the game to the gun I use most frequently in real life: my .257 :)
-
Who knows. It is in the game files, at least.

0.52 - Pile of Guts/Intestines! - What do you think it will be used for?
Tatanko replied to Nonapona2's topic in Gallery
Wait, so you CAN eat the guts though? Can they be cooked? -
This is precisely why I hoped they would put out the original build for a week or so on Experimental, so I could go back and get a direct comparison of "empty" versus "full" in the last year. I spent a lot of time exploring that empty, street-covered north when I first started playing the Standalone enjoying it's openness, so I feel your pain OP. It was a nice challenge too, because water sources were few and far between along with not having anywhere to pick up more food (and no hunting yet to get food either!). I love some of the new towns they've added, but I do kind of wish they had added maybe a few less.

Thanks guys. Can't wait to get back out there tonight and see the rest of it :)
