Heating items on the fire currently ruins them almost instantly, so I don't recommend that at all. It's also not long enough of a swim to warrant a personal heat source, just take matches with you to the island and dry off/warm up once you're there.

I already did that, sort of, and I'll link to it below. It was impromptu though and involved total strangers. I'd like to coordinate something among my friends to light up Elektro or Cherno :) I've been thinking of doing that since 0.53 hit Experimental, good to know it would be of interest. I'm quite sneaky however, and people often walk right next to me without knowing it, so I generally avoid harm when I'm trying to do something. Experimental is particularly difficult to take good shots on due to the lack of resources and fully populated servers, plus I have no control over the time of day usually.

Have you been up that way yet? This is a whole string of wrecked military vehicles outside Krasnoe. It's like a "light" version of a military base (kind of like Turovo, but better).

I promised I would share some better pictures of the map changes in 0.53 whenever I got a chance. I drove all over the map tonight and got to see everything but the islands. Those will come tomorrow. I'm of the opinion that everything should be enter-able, but I worry how that would affect the performance of the game as well.

Finally made it back to Skalisty Island this evening. The island is gorgeous, though I am disappointed that you are still unable to trap rabbits or harvest red berries and apples. I didn't take notice to whether or not there were any Ashwood trees, but I'll be there again soon enough. I have one last place to check for changes as yet undocumented in the northwest..... Anyway, enjoy :)

Empty cans are easily my favorite out-of-civilization method of cooking and eating. If the first two things you did for yourself when spawning into the game were to make an improvised knife and pick up (and clean) an empty can, you could do quite a lot towards surviving out of "nothing".

I... need to do this...

Wandered through Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk this evening on my way east to see Skalisty Island again...

The canoe paddle can be found at the boats on the coast. The Field Jacket may or may not actually be in despite being on the list. Can anyone confirm that? The bayonet and mace I'm 99% sure are not in. They were merely leaked.

You always get the best dusk/nighttime shots of the sky. Kudos. Nice! Now I understand your comment about netting and burlap ;)

At least there's material to start a fire when you're freezing from the swim over ;) Those words probably wouldn't have come from me a few months ago, but I agree. Not big ones like Skalisty and the prison island, but smaller ones like Drakon and Otmel would be cool (as long as they've got something interesting). Improvised stone knife!

How are you going about using them? I'd be interested to see how you're utilizing the space.

If you're interested in WWII history don't forget about the other memorials. The tank statue in Berezino, the statue of soldiers in Chernogorsk, the memorial obelisk in Severograd, etc. They're about the size of a one-bedroom apartment in NYC so I can see how that would be possible :P They do spawn loot too, so it's not like they're just shelter. Odd that they chose one of the tiny churches for that particular graveyard, the other 4 use a large church (but none are enterable so this is arguably better).
