You're referring to this: ...which was "revealed" here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/210614-status-report-week-of-08-sept-14/

Go for it! It's here to be informative :)

That's how I took it as well. They've previously said they want a higher capacity (remember, 40 used to be the max) and his comments don't go against that in my opinion. I think what he was really trying to say was, "We'll see what performance looks like and set a limit from there." I imagine that server admins (or GSPs) will eventually have more control over that as well.

Authenticity: Time Acceleration vs Night Lights
Tatanko replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Indeed the lighthouses "work" now (as of 0.53 I believe). I don't think you can see them from a distance, but I've definitely seen one dimly lit with my own eyes. I distinctly remember it catching me off guard, like "Whoa those work now?" -
Not sure, honestly. Maybe someone else knows more about it than I do...?

I do miss street lights... -
Given that a lot of things are waiting on a new core system to be implemented (i.e. player controller, inventory matrix, renderer), I think we'll see a lot of good visible progress in a very short period of time... but it will seem like we waited forever for it ;)

Without knowing how the forum software works, I would venture a guess that it only previews a certain number of tweets per page or per post. The whole post is formatted identically, so I can only guess that something like that is going on. Sorry, you'll have to click the link :(

Does someone know why the rain has disappeared since 0.55?
Tatanko replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Same here. There have been times where it was difficult to find a server that wasn't raining :| -
Good observation!

I just recently updated the guide to screenshots that I originally posted back in September, and many of the new screenshots that I used to update the guide were simply re-shoots of the "classic" screenshots I originally used back in September. When I wrote that guide, I thought I was pretty okay at taking screenshots, but fully admitted that the more you do the better you'll get. In the 7 months since I originally posted the guide, not only has my technique improved but I have also switched from playing on a Macbook to a dedicated powerhouse desktop PC. You'll notice a slight change in settings as well as a difference in image resolution. All pairs of pictures will be posted with the OLD one on the first and the NEW one second. Enjoy the comparison! :) "The Barns at Sinistok" ------------------- "The Fields of Novy Sobor" ------------------- "The Scarecrow" ------------------- "The Water Pump at Pik Kozlova" ------------------- "The Fields of Chernogorsk" ------------------- "The Bridge at Cap Golova" ------------------- "The Barn at Chernogorsk"

Version 1.5 is now up with all-new screenshots for the guide.

Glad you were able to make it! Sorry you lost some of your stuff... I don't know anything about that

After the simultaneous success and failure that was my Spring BBQ, many who attended were left wanting more. This is understandable given how abruptly and tragically things ended. I personally wish things had been able to go on longer and I think everyone who showed up did enjoy themselves for the hour or so things remained "calm". With that said, I'm happy to announce that starting in April, I will be holding monthly social events! Past gatherings have proven that people are willing to gather peacefully and engage in social interaction, and the feedback I get tells me that they wish the opportunity to do so would come up more often. I feel the same way, and I am more than happy to make it happen. The community needs more of this, if only to give everyone a break from the constant bloodshed. The last event that I held was a test of sorts -- to see just how "public" I could make an event without things going sour. The answer surprised me: for over an hour, not one person at the gathering caused any issues. The violence that ended the party was the result of outside forces, including a grenade-spamming hacker. Compound that with an understaffed and underequipped security force, and it's really a miracle that things were able to go on as long as they did. Lessons have been learned however, and the circumstances of this event will be quite a bit different. All future events will have much more security, but not at the expense of everyone being able to show up and have fun. With April's event, the server situation will be a little different as well: still a private hive with multiple servers, but the server being used for the event will be specific to the event and nothing else. You'll be able to gather what you need on two other servers and bring it with you at the time of the party. I'm proud to say that Musty Gaming will be hosting this month's event. After the success of the last event, I asked if they would be so kind to host the next one and they obliged. They were nothing but great the last time, and I am happy to be working with them once again to provide a gathering for the community. As we are going with a private hive again, I highly recommend spending some time prior to the party playing on that hive to collect your items. This time around, I would like potential attendees to have more say in the setting of the event. No matter what, the next event will be Saturday, April 18th. I want to find out what time works best for the most number of people, and I want the community to help pick the location this time. Please vote in the polls above! (Polls now closed.) I'll post details here as they are finalized. I look forward to seeing everyone on the 18th :) Date, Time, and Server -Saturday, April 18th, 2015 -6:00 PM EST (22:00 GMT) -Server info TBA (Musty Gaming private hive) Location -Black Lake Planned Activities -Flare Gun Fireworks -Campfire Stories -Music -Cooking -Chem Light Dance Party (!) -Hide & Seek (?)

Any info on the 24 hour cycle bug?

I don't know. I didn't start the thread. I'm just informing you of what's going on. -

Tatanko replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The discussion in this thread is about a particular server provider not allowing that option (seemingly despite the fact that they are supposed to). -
I love grilled Spam! Straight up, too, with nothing on it.

It's not that black-and-white. The "vision" for the game is that you'll play at all times of the day; but, because of real-world constraints in the form of adult responsibilities, there has to be some give and take in order to make that possible. If you don't allow at least a minor amount of manipulation, what you end up with is what many of us face: constant nighttime. Playing in the dark 100% of the time is not fun -- you need a balance. -
Event is tomorrow! Stay tuned (or PM me) for server details. To anyone attending: bring as many flare rounds, road flares, and chem lights as you can :)
