Cooking fish over the fire again! I bet it feels gooood :)
-
Anything can happen I suppose! ;) I'm a (former) Eagle Scout myself, so it's possible that's an influence :)
-
Don't skip out on real life activities for our little video game gathering :p Meh. Last month's gathering had zero violence and went off without a hitch.
-
We look forward to you attending :) Based on the current vote, looks like the event will be taking place at Summer Camp Friendship!

The third installment is one near and dear to many of you: Elektrozavodsk. As always, click through to the album if you'd like the additional text. Enjoy! http://imgur.com/a/FZ1nR

SMoss is on the money. Here's the best way I know how to explain it... As pointed out above, there are three parts to the "version number". Let's use last week's Experimental build as an example: 0.56.127666 "0" in this case denotes that we are not yet at final release, 1 would indicate final release and later versions, and 2 would indicate a whole new game probably, etc. The .56 part denotes a major update release at this point in their scale of version numbers. Each of these updates includes new tech, new features, map updates, and that kind of thing. The .127666 part is the build number. These are a sub-version of sorts. These numbers are assigned to each and every single release, major or minor, and they give you a way of distinguishing between different releases of the same update. When we get hotfixes to an existing version of the game, these are simply a new build rather than a full update and you will notice that change in the build number. Trying to explain what each of the six numbers in the build number means would be pure speculation on my part, so I won't comment on that. This post wasn't directed at anyone in particular, I just felt like taking the time to explain so that everyone reading the thread is on the same page :)

Looking good :)

So because they enjoy a feature in a game that has almost nothing in common with DayZ, that same feature should be ported over to DayZ? Why not just play the other game that already has it, where it actually kind of makes sense for it to exist? That way you get your feature, and DayZ can continue to be something else entirely. Don't just take my word for it, though:

So, next year then... maybe? Why even bother talking about it yet?

Books and its future uses by Jorn von Veen

Soooo... kind of like skill books in the Elder Scrolls games? -
Guide is now up to version 1.6. A few new pictures and many small updates to the guide itself :)

Cooking with a stick is... fun:

Methinks you've got a strange obsession with using the ocean as a garbage disposal

I think this would be a fun item to have in as a SUPER rare find. Like one per map, and basically impossible to locate. It adds nothing to the game really, but it would be a fun way of rewarding people who spend a lot of time looting. Just don't make it OP.

looks like .56 will be a character wipe..saw msg in server earlier
Tatanko replied to thewire's topic in General Discussion
Everything is going to be wiped. Everything. This. I have several well-geared characters on public/private, 1PP/3PP, half a dozen camps, etc. I'm not even normally someone who stockpiles, either. And that's all there is to say! My best guess is Wednesday the 20th. It's possible it will make it out on the 13th, but it seems doubtful. -
It's amazing how few people know this. I blame the less-than-obvious method of opening a book, otherwise I think more people would stumble upon this feature. Though it seems almost unbelievable, there are 100+ books in the game that are readable cover-to-cover. That's some Skyrim or GTA level of depth right there.

I had never seen it before. Gorgeous view from up there.

It's time for another round of map changes! 0.56 brings us mostly enhancements and destruction to the North. We see the return of an old fan favorite in the form of the military camp at Stary Sobor, major changes to the town of Gorka, the addition of a hillside village near Kamensk, and minor changes elsewhere in addition to general store buildings being included in many towns now. First, the Evacuation Camp at Stary Sobor: Next, the overhauled town of Gorka: A new village on a hillside clearing near Kamensk: One of the prison buildings (the one farthest from the tents) was removed at the NWAF: Similarly, the prison building in Turovo is now rubble: Finally, we have a change from a one-story orange brick building to a piano house in the town of Kabanino: If more is discovered, I'll be sure to document it here.

0.56 Experimental glam shots:
-
I know, I just think it would come across that way if it were invite-only. They would definitely want to avoid anything resembling an exclusive club. The basic idea you've got is good though in my opinion.
-
So let me make sure I have this right: you're suggesting an invite-only, whitelisted, private hive server for Experimental? While I do understand that your intention is to test things specific to private hives, it comes across sounding like a VIP Club. I know you're not suggesting it for personal gain (you made that clear), but it does kind of come out sounding like a good ol' boys club. Even though your intentions are pure, I think it would do more harm than good were it to operate in the way that you're suggesting. As an alternative, there could be private hive servers that simply run the Experimental build just like the official servers do now. I can see how the dev team would be opposed to that idea too though, given the volatile and sporadic nature of Experimental. It would likely cause some big issues with the server providers in terms of agreements and finances.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll check those areas out. EDIT:

She was gone once before if you recall. This time I see it being permanent, though.

Surprisingly enough, it looks like Summer Camp Friendship may be our party location based on the vote!

It has not been announced yet. It will occur when 0.56 goes to Stable, which would be next Wednesday at the earliest I would think.
