It was certainly interesting. I think I have another idea up my sleeve for 0.58 as well ;)

For any long-range task, the Winchester with a hunting scope is my new go-to. It's easily my favorite rifle in the whole game now, and combined with a potent secondary (sawed-off shotgun, SMG, etc.) it is hard to beat for all-around utility.

Thanks! A comprehensive map will probably have to wait a version or two. With animal spawns being as sparse and inconsistent as they are right now, I don't think it would be possible for a map to be all that accurate. There are a few places, as you mentioned, where it's possible to find animals consistently (but mostly the domestic ones).

how long does it take to walk from balota airstrip to the airstrip near lopatino?

I think the best answer is, "Go do it and find out" ;) -
Start a suggestions thread! This deserves to be discussed further ;)

I hate to say it, but given how uncommon that resolution is, you may need to make your own :( This probably isn't much help, but someone posted a small gallery of 21:9 pictures to Reddit yesterday. At the very least, it may be helpful to get some tips from them or something? http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/3az3wg/219_really_brings_the_best_out_of_dayz_scenery/ http://i.imgur.com/U3x3sJl.png

I seem to have a lot of luck with this. I've long since lost count of how many times in the Standalone I've been shot and should have died but didn't because I was able to get away and recover. Being brought within an inch of dying makes you terribly ineffective in a firefight though, so I've never been able to recover from wounds like that and still manage to kill my attackers (but I have also been saved by friends who were able to kill them). Come to think of it, other than random glitches (running too fast down a hill) or character wipes, I haven't had a character die in months. What horrible tragedy will befall me soon? :|

Preparing for something big tomorrow night...

Not totally true. There's a cost to keeping a stick on your back: you can't keep another melee item there ;) Unless of course you're trying to say, "Why carry one at all when you can just cut one down wherever you are?" which is absolutely true. OP: You'll need a stronger argument for this to be included I think (given the alternatives), but it is very interesting. I applaud you for going the extra mile and modeling it for us! :)

It's tough out there in 0.57 :( Right now, I can roam the fields for several hours without seeing a single animal. They're very sparse. Glad to see other people are having success with the rabbit snare. Mine have yet to yield any rabbits in 0.57... I've probably used up 5 or 6 snares by now (and they're re-usable at least once).

Now that you mention it, we need squirrels. Yes, we need them ;)

Your entire argument in this post is that I don't know English. Oh okay. Let me school you on what a contradiction is, since I have such a poor command of the English language. A contradiction is defined as such: In the same post, you tirade about other people imposing their playstyle on you and then proceed to insult a particular playstyle. How is that not contradictory speech?

This :D

EDIT: Never mind :)

I agree with your speculation entirely :)

Liking that last shot especially. I think it's because it is rare to see a whole area of a town lit up at night like that -- it's neat :)

I'm hearing a lot of good things about the northwest in 0.57. This is good. I'll probably spend some time there this evening to see what I can find. Hoping for a fox!

As it is, anyone can steal from any tent at any time. "Ownership" of that tent would be a needless complication that doesn't seem to have any obvious benefit.

My opinion of achievements is the same as Handgun_Hero. I spent countless hours doing stupid crap to earn achievements on the Xbox 360 and finally came to the realization (after YEARS of doing this) that achievements should serve to enhance the game, not act as a pathetic attempt to keep doing the same mindless tasks over and over again. Achievements should reward players for their hard work, and pointless grinding should never be something you strive to be rewarded for in my opinion. These should be badges of honor or rites of passage. They should motivate you to explore all that the game has to offer, not just what immediately grabs your attention. Achievements should encourage you to wander off the beaten path, not repeat a task endlessly.

I have a lone box of 7.62x54R that I've been carrying around for a week in case I find an SVD, and I can't for the life of me remember where I found it. I have yet to visit any military locations in 0.57 Stable, so it had to have come from a wrecked truck or possibly one of the guard houses.

Hello everyone! As I embark on another journey to create fresh screenshots for the Locations section of the wiki, I thought I would highlight the larger cities here in the Gallery as their own series. My goal is to capture the feel of each city in a way that will make you feel as though you're touring it yourself. I'll try and post a new city every few days as I have the time to roam around. Enjoy :) Part 1: Berezino Part 2: Chernogorsk Part 3: Elektrozavodsk Part 4: Novaya Petrovka Part 5: Novodmitrovsk Part 6: Severograd Part 7: Svetlojarsk Part 8: Zelenogorsk Bonus Round: Chapaevsk Our first stop is the killing grounds of Berezino: http://imgur.com/a/mEOaG

Bonus round! We may have already visited Chernogorsk, but we didn't explore the areas around it... This week, Chapaevsk: http://imgur.com/a/KOBFx

Being that I hunt animals a lot (especially lately) and rarely run into other people, the Winchester is the rifle for me. If I find myself in a perilous situation that requires me to get a lot of shots off quickly, I've usually got a handgun or SMG on me (right now I have an MP5). That said, when I can't find a Winchester, the Blaze is an awesome substitute. It's equally effective at long(er) ranges and is satisfying to use.

They yield 4 steaks and a pile of 5 bones. Nothing more, I'm afraid. I really like the Hunting Backpack, too. The improvised leather backpack with the boar pelt is kind of the top tier for the "I refuse to go into a town" crowd. 054 112, at the edge of a grass field that overlooks the valley of Nadezhdino. http://dayzdb.com/map#7.054.112
