  1. Sorry if this has been covered, I had no luck with the search function. Since the last update I have found many ak74 and aks74u, but not a single akm or ak101. Are they still spawning in barracks? Barracks seem to not be effected by the loot explosions so maybe I've just been real unlucky. Thanks!

    How long has water born illness been in game? I've been spam drinking dirty water for months because I thought they hadn't added it. Never been sick. I guess I got really lucky
  5. What you're describing is a inability to discipline yourself. There are two ways to deal with this. One is total avoidance which is what you have chosen by uninstalling dayz. The other is actually learning how to stop playing at appropriate times. By avoiding the game entirely your not learning to deal with your addictive tendencies. If your okay with that then that's fine. Just be aware this will always be a potential problem. It sounds like you're a young adult going through what all adults go through. Which is learning how to force yourself to do what you might rather not be doing. Welcome to life sir. If you're interested to know, i wake up 2 hours early every day so i can play whatever game before it's time to shower up and head to work.
  6. I know there's never a guarantee, I'm not looking for one. Just trying to determine if loot spawning with persistence on is the same as it was in the previous version. So the issue of loot Getting concentrated into a few locations (aka Christmas buildings) has been fixed?
  7. So how does loot spawning work with persistence now? Does it respawn on resets? Are we still resetting every 2hours? I'd appreciate any feedback. I don't want to risk visiting high value targets if they're going to be empty. My last experience with persistence taught me to not bother with military. Trying to make my game plan, thanks! Also, Helicopter crash sites were previously invisible on persistent servers. Sounds like it was fixed but it certainly was no myth! :p Thanks for great server
  8. if it's 10-15 minutes then I am probably joining too soon. I will try again now. As far as I remember this never happened to me until the most recent patch. So if there is actually a problem it'd be a relatively recent one. I'll post back my experiences.
  9. If the problem is widespread then it is something to do with private hives because I havn't had this issue on the public hive, nor my friends.
  10. I am having the same problem as Back Sabbath. For the last 3 lives I have played on just your server. After resets I come back to a freshie. At first I thought I logged on too soon after the reset and force reset myself.(known bug) So after that I would wait atleast 5 minutes, sometimes longer before I come back on only to have it happen twice more. Happened last tuesday and then just now. I decided to check this thread to see if it was just me. Since it's not I'll probably be taking a break from the server for a bit :( Keep us posted because I love this private hive.

    Gorka Helmet uses?

    Stats Ballistic helmet- 90 bleed, 1.5 ballistic Gorka helmet with visor-95 bleed,.85 ballistic I think they both prevent knockout but aren't sure. Gorka is worse

    Can we get a sneak movement?

    These noisy things can be packed in such a way that they don't rattle. I am not trained in anything and even i can imagine how to start doing this. Packed tight, and using internal/external pouches, elastic bands(Easily scavenged), careful arrangement. I'm sure someone in the special forces could explain it better then I. All I'm saying is that our packs shouldn't effect or sound level unless there's a way around it other then running light weight. As for stamina and running i completely agree. Weight should impact our travel times. I expect it will, someday.

    Can we get a sneak movement?

    A properly assembled pack does not rattle or clank. If you wanted a quiet pack you could make it such. Crafting burlap sack into "straps" or something could then be used on backpack to bundle/tie stuff down. This could then enable stealth movement. Or we could just assume our guys have figured it out along the way. And skip all that. Tldr, packs don't have to rattle.

    Bring back tool belt

    Bring back the toolbelt like we had in the mod! I know we have much more inventory to work with in general now but I still feel like it would be a nice thing to have. With hunting, fishing, and fire starting now in game there are more and more items becoming useful. For those of you that have never played the mod version of Dayz, there are many tools in the mod that have not been added to the standalone yet but that almost certainly will be. Going forward we can expect to see tools associated with both vehicle repair and building structures/fortifications, and that's just what we know is coming. Who knows what else they have come up during brainstorm sessions. With the variety of inventory spaces we get through clothing and backpack I expect some people will say this is not necessary. To them I would say that right now you might be right, it probably isn't needed. But in the future when we start needing toolboxes, wrenches, hammers, e-tools, and whatever else we get, you might be wishing you had a tool belt. Let me know what you think! P.S. I know toolboxes can't fit on tool belts. I'm willing to overlook that for the purposes of gameplay. Realistically a toolbox could easily take up half or more of a backpack and I don't think we want that. Another way to do this would be to have the toolbox fill the role that the tool belt filled in the mod. That would work great. Like a protector case but with many more slots.

    Bring back tool belt

    I agree that it should not be something you start with. Also, the more I think about it the more I like the toolbox version of the idea better. In the mod you had a toolbox inside a tool belt..it didn't make sense. If we instead use the toolbox as the container we preserve the immersion a bit better.

    Unarmed Weapons

    I was about to make a thread on the idea of brass knuckles or other kinds of fist weapons. Did a search instead and saw this thread. I normally don't necro threads but this is an awesome idea and would be easy to implement. The punching animation doesn't need to change. Weapon just needs a texture to go with it and a damage increase. Could be done in less then a day probably. From what I can tell it takes about 4 headshots with normal fists to kill a zombie. My suggestion would be to make it take 2 with fist weapon. That would bring it inline with some of the other stronger melee weapons. 3 would be fine too. Really I just like the precision of the punching as it stands now and would like to see that extended into fist weapons.
  18. What dagwood says in his first paragraph is exactly why I play hardcore. I wish it was called something different, though. I'd be willing to bet many players on the newer side avoid hardcore because of the name when in reality the only difference is the disabling of third person perspective. I don't know if there will be more differences in the future. I find myself having much more fun knowing that if an enemy can see me then I can also see them. Looking around corners with a third person camera really undermines a lot of tactical behavior. Hardcore for life!

    ballistics protection

    Is the press vest and ballistic helmet the only clothing with ballistic protection? I saw some very detailed testing about melee damage on YouTube but nothing about ballistics. I am wondering if I should be doing anything shirt/pant wise to maximize my chances in a firefight. Any comments or advice is greatly appreciated, Thanks.
  21. In my experience yes, but only if your backpack is nearly full. When your items get rearranged and for example the bottom row of your backpack is the only empty space, even though it's technically enough slots they are horizontal, not the 2x2 needed for a case. In that situation it goes poof. I've only had this happen once or twice, and only when I had two ammo cases ave two protector cases. If what I'm saying is the true cause atm then the moral of the story is to limit the amount of 2x2 objects in full bags or the game won't be able to fit the puzzle back together on log in. I try to avoid this by keeping say, ammo box in pants, spread everything out. Not shirt though Thsts just asking for a nice big ruin.
  22. I'm currently carrying about 5cases one inside the other with a med kit at the bottom and have had no problems. I do this way because otherwise when I log out they start disappearing. Something to do with how the items rearrange in your bags on login I think

    Is there an ETA on ambient sounds ?

    Appropriate sound effects will come. Music? No. You don't hear music while navigating a forest.... And calabam, the reason that happens is because a lot of the ideas thrown around on these forums are bad. Either they go against the simulator spirit of this game, or against the "play how you want" sandbox. Music breaks the simulator feel in my opinion. Realistic ambient sounds would be great though.

    And by the way, wobo proved that less items is better when testing the back packs. He goes so far as to suggest ditching unneeded items. If I got this stuff wrong let me know. The more I think about it the more conflicting memories I have about those videos.
