Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
Fuerii replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
I've read several of Taco's posts in the last month or so. I have yet to see anyone match his level of knowledge and understanding of ballistics. I wouldn't bother questioning him on something like this. /shrug -
Can you elaborate on this? lately ive been having a lot of desync issues. I was carrying probably 4 or 5 protector cases that were layered one inside the other. Are you saying that causes desync? I got hit especially hard with the desync and a zed destroyed my backpack so I ditched the containers and havn't had a problem since.

adjust your mouse sensitivity through windows, or mouse drivers. come on people. this is just the first iteration of new code to handle mouse events, bare with them for now.
-
and what is the DPI on your mouse? I'd bet it is high. If that is the case...configure better. I have had no problems adjusting my in and out of game settings in order to get back to basically the same sensitivity I had pre patch. The only difference after properly configuring is the change in mouse acceleration and what seems to me to be a generally increased response time.

Zombies in latest stable - remove them or fix it!
Fuerii replied to timedance's topic in General Discussion
I have had no problems headshotting them with the fire axe. And when overwhelmed shoot them then lay low and look for bandits. Stop crying. Learn the hit arc of the axe. Not to mention, if you strafe back a bit right before each of their swings they will almost never hit you. -
In the past I have avoided Bolota because I play lone wolf most of the time. As such I have little experience at operating safely in that area. My question is this, can anyone recommend a decent entry pattern/overwatch position to get an idea of what I am headed into? So far I have not found an insertion method that leaves me feeling comfortable. Maybe there aren't any truly safe methods but I thought I would try asking. I appreciate any feedback!

are the binoculars working? I couldn't seem to get them to work. I do have a set. No long range scope yet.

nice story :D I only briefly played the mod and I don't think I ever got the chance to use satchel charges

I'll have to try that. I was trying to insert from the opposite side behind the hangars and jail. I felt completely vulnerable and ended up not moving forward on that. I'll give your method a try. I am doing this on experimental so it's a completely full server at all times so I am being extra careful. thanks!

sounds like you are being headshot to me. :P

I guess I am just asking if anyone has found a good spot to view the area from. I don't have a buddy. :(

anyone notice their stuffed status not going away? at one point I stopped eating drinking just to see and it still did not go away. As for the map, I assumed it was intended that the map did not tell you where you are. What paper map does that? Not very realistic. :)

Recently I was in a firefight where I had an sks and my opponent tried to KOS me with an m4. My bad for letting him get the jump on me. :( I won't bore you with the details but the main point is that he opened up on me and landed two body shots. I didn't get knocked out, I didn't get any fractures, I didn't even bleed. I had my back to him so I can't say how close or distant he was but I know they were body shots because my jacket and vest got ruined.. Due to the lack of injury I was able to recover and end him. So my question now, is that normal for an m4? Typically once I have mp attachments I start rocking the m4. But if that is how 5.56 is performing right now then I am thinking that the sks is a better choice for rapid fire engagements despite its lower ammo capacity. I have never at any distance had two rounds not take someone down. What do you think? p,s, when talking about the m4, i am talking about a fully kitted m4. MP parts and the like.

I can't speak to that wiz. But I will say I've never needed more then one double tap during 50 to 100 yard engagements. At greater distances there would be some drop off I think. I remember one time ending someone in the control tower at nwaf, I was at the third hangar from the firehouse. It still only took two shots and I'm fairly certain they were body shots. Any drop off must occur at greater distances then that. Unless he was wounded I guess.

Don't get me wrong, taco, I love me some real firearms..but how much of that is reflected in Dayz? I was looking for in game impact of distance on the m4
-
Does anyone know at what distanced the 5.56 cartridge starts to lose it's stopping power? And the rate of that decrease? I can't seem to find this type of ballistics information in any of the popular databases
-
my understanding is that the attachments greatly impact the dispersion, but not the damage. I tend to agree with your overall points though. I am lone wolf lately, and the sks just seems more reliable to me.
