Assuming walkie-talkie have 2km max radius (need to verify) Let's imagine an inner radius called "interference noise" (800m radius). Picture_1 As soon as a Walkie-Talkie interference radius reach an other Walkie-Talkie interference radius ; concerned Walkie-Talkies would both emit a strange sound. Even if not on the same frequency !! Picture_2 Sound should be played only once. To hear it again, both Walkie-Talkies should move away of their max range (just like Picture_1) and then get closer enough again (Picture_2) So that we won't be annoyed by incessant sound every few footsteps if interference distance is on the edge, and it would not be possible to track the other. Also it would avoid multiple Walkie-Talkie team mates to interfere within them. What is the purpose ? Once you heard that sound, you can be sure the other Walkie-Talkie owner heard it too. Both know someone with a (turned-on) Walkie-Talkie is somewhere at a distance of 800m. One could scan and try severals frequencies to search and chat with the other. And this time you could be sure someone will hear you (unless other ran away >200m in straight opposite way, or unless he shut off his walkie-talkie). But would he reply to your call? ...who knows. It would be a great part for negociation, or for announcing your coming, or to dissuade some ("stay out of my territory!"), or to set ambush, etc...

No, this is not. I mean it used to be in the distant past. So you want eastern stuff? get this popular relic from that time : The legendary "SSh-68" !! Or the 1981's "STSh-81 (Sfera)" !! PS : If you miss elite tacticool sh*t that turn you into modern "bulletproof tank", noway not for DayZ!

Don't get ahead of yourself (despite your RO2 story). -> It's probably not because of the thread. ;)

Player activity (statistics from SteamGraph) 12 February : Last stable update 0.35 provided a significant boost (climax D+3). Then fresh update has maintained normal activity for 12 days. *A bi-monthly update could be a bit too long ? Anyhow, past that 12 days time, activity indubitably decline... It is a matter of concern because alpha and later beta are supposed to grow popularity for build up final release day. I guess it would require greater updates content within a limited time basis* to winback users and catch up mid february activity. Critical time it is, redouble efforts now and you should overcome it. Good luck! -
A bright "specular map" for lens would be the best you could get. And it would not be a miraculous solution.

Indeed, it would have been almost impossible to headshot them.
-
I would suggest a compromise, a bunch of bullets in the torso to kill Z. While head remains vulnerable as we know. To not feel them as über machine, they could collapse at each shot in torso, then get up. (just like when you punch in the face).

@Emigrantes If it turns to a complaint because alpha-game doesn't seem to meet your needs... (well, you should try to post in "General Discussion"?) You are 1 of 1637302 customers, it's hard to satisfy everyone. I wish you great times on Project Zomboid

Making the Machete more of a "Machete"
JiJi (DayZ) replied to Holliday (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Could you post a sceenshot [machete in hand] ? -
Referring to Chernarus "ArmA II" endings, Z outbreak happen(ed) during year 2014. IMHO lore would be rather computer-based records (smart card, USB stick, HDD) than paper-based, so it would be an issue. But yes I like the idea, since I'm in Polaroid films I could work on a modern set. Even if DayZ is rated "M", I'm afraid it could be unbearable ...

No offense but it sounds too bushcraft folklore to me. Enlarge bottleneck (water plastic bottle) with any cutting tool, + rope, and voilà : a poor man's quiver.

I don't really know what to think about futur wallet or how it will works, so far I'm a little disappointed with books since it's just an unique background texture with text overlayed. No picture found. I don't mention paper which seem worst regarding its layout. I know it's alpha game, this is why I would discuss about it, if anyone have more info about what devs have planned to do or if third modder could consider the feasibility of inserting picture in .pbo files, feel free to tell me! I was thinking about writing a book ...in fact it would rather be a scrapbook (don't laugh at me!) with vintage leaflets collection that would display subtle tips and reminder for beginners - a kind of "roleplay ingame user manual" some could found among loot and read. Here a preview of few (still draft), I've many other I could work on if you think it could works out.

@ K20017 Keep investigating, I'm sure devs will appreciate your feedback  -
I'm afraid it would be pointless to attempt Walkie-Talkie to surpass or match voice chat software (such TeamSpeak,Mumble,...) since those items are quite rare ingame and imply drawbacks : limited range 2km, speaking in it could also be heard around, and anyone on the right channel could listen coms. The idea is to find other uses Walkie-Talkie could do and voice chat software won't. Walkie-Talkie currently has 8 frequencies : 87.8 - 89.5 - 91.3 - 91.9 - 94.6 - 96.6 - 99.7 - 102.5 ATC towers (airstrips+airfield) should also have VHF/UHF radio materials, let's assume their devices still work (at least receiver speaker) and let's suppose all Chernarus ATC only use 102.5 frequency. You could use your Walkie-Talkie to announce yourself, frighten, reassure, negociate, with anyone possibly inside - even if they don't have Walkie-Talkie. Fire Stations could work with another frequency (for instance 99.7), * You'd better specify which station you require attention if severals within Walkie Talkie range. Hospitals could work another frequency, and new police stations with another one, etc... "Why dedicate and sacrifice Walkie-Talkie frequencies while simple ingame voice chat could work aswell?" - Due to limited voice range you actually have to go very close to be heard, and anyone inside listening you knows you're right next to him. It's dangerous! Walkie-Talkie allow to extend this range up to 2km. If lack of available frequencies (8) for usual practice between team member, I think it would not be too difficult to add few more (?)

I so agree with all of you... ;)

Blur rely on post-process parameter, so if desactivated it would be worthless.

Radio transmissions | Add depth trough background story hints...
JiJi (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in Suggestions
I would be fine with random event through radio transmissions. However talkies are damn rare (not to mention range, frequency), and no one would camp around static radio emitter hours just for the hope to hear one. Russian langage ok, but no Star Trek universal translator for God shake! That's why voiced radio messages should not be prolix. Interco numbers (nadazero, unaone, bissotwo, etc) + name of cities (russian, don't worry it's quite understandable). I'm afraid you couldn't have both loot & lore system with that. -
100 Slot server. Will it somehow tend to reduce price/slot in the futur (Vilayer, etc)? If not it's gonna be quite expensive...
