your opinion about what makes it fun is just that - your opinion. I run solo almost exclusively and I have no intention of changing that. If the map become some fucking frak fest over bridge rights I am gonna snipe everything that moves on every server I join just to reduce the odds of having to deal the asshats at the bridge. there are enough obstacles on the map that attract the clan mentality and it already takes too much time to avoid them. again, no thanks.

yeah lets just add a shit-ton more choke points to the map so no one can just run from one side to the other without a fucking boat or by having to cross a KoSer laden bridge - no thanks. this, with the exception of your boat variations, has already been brought up more than a few times. the search function is your friend - if your suggestion becomes reality I will not be.

I just gotta be honest.... it's highly unlikely that anyone here will believe that you are not a cheater and having said that you should probably get your answers from BattleEye.

so if all the toons look alike and there are two bandits and one friend of yours on the ground all pretty close together how do you how do you know whose pulse you have just checked if the game doesn't tell you? maybe they should restrict the ability to perform any actions on another avatar that is awake, free, and healthy without their consent. you could of course do whatever you like to the dead, restrained, or surrendered. of course this excludes basic combat actions such as shooting, stabbing, or beating someone into submission or death.

I have thought about this often and something I came to the conclusion of is that if your avatar only rendered what was above the grass in your immediate area then your avatar would not render when you are below the top of the grass line. So if the grass doesn't render at distance and you are prone in the grass neither do you until you stand up and then only the part of you that is actually above the grass would render. It might look a little funny however if you see half a person running across a field at distance. on a lighter note.... I rather like the idea that my ass doesn't look big when the grass doesn't render as indicated by your first picture (sorry I couldn't resist) and what the hell is she shooting? those shell casings are huge, I'm guessing a .50 of some sort.

Welcome to the forum. Could you be a little more specific about the problem? If your server list is blank you might want to check your filter settings, try adjusting the ping value up from the default 100 (if you set it to 0 it should show them all). Sorry I couldn't offer more advice but this is the first thing I could think of based on your post.

I met a friendly at veresnik once. we were outside of the wall and I bumped into him just as I was about to rush a zed next to the barracks building I was aiming for. he scared the shit outta me too but we decided to raid it together. he said his name was Phillip (so if you are reading this Phillip it was on experimental and we did meet again) and he was pretty well geared up. he was very polite and even opened the doors for me and cleared the rooms at the camo building (jail for some). when I came back out of the camo building he had spread all of his gear out on the ground and asked if I needed anything but I was after an LRS and some other little mucky muck thing I can't remember and he had none of that. I thanked him kindly and we parted ways after I offered directions to zelenogorsk. I went behind veresnik hill and logged out to contemplate a friendly at a military base. the next day was not so kind. as I had logged out so close to the base the day before I decided to raid it one more time before moving on. I found the LRS I had been looking for and figured I would check one more barracks before leaving when someone stepped out and shot me in the head without so much as a fuck you. I respawed in svetlo and considered suicide as I hate that place when I ran into another friendly.... yes it was indeed Phillip again and as before he had gear to spare and offer, this time I kindly accepted his charity :) so sometimes you find a friendly and sometimes you find a saint.

I have often wondered this myself. I mean everyone knows a towel is more useful than duct tape ;) edit: curious thing about dayz duct tape is that its crazy useful in the real world and does absolutely nothing in the game. some day....

sir, with all due respect it is the ONLY answer for the current state of the game. of course that will change when the state of the game is "beta". if none of this is fixed at release then you have reason to be upset until then enjoy your status as a tester and don't forget your responsibility to the community to report any bugs you find - in the bug reports section of course, because posting them here is pointless. as a side note: for all we know "alpha" is the answer to the universe, I challenge you to prove otherwise.

I found a kiwi the other day that I couldn't pick up, or so I thought. I double clicked on this lil fresh fruit maybe 5 times to pick it up to no avail so I opened my inventory and low and behold I was loaded with fresh kiwi. yes I ate them, no I do not regret it. was it hacked? no. the server was acting very strange and lagging with almost every action altho there were only 6 or 7 of us on the server. I was the only one with a ping less than 100 (30 to 40 if I recall) the rest were from 150 to 300. a note to the peeps that like to join non-local high ping servers... Thanks for the kiwi! the endless soda is a glitch that was present a couple of months ago maybe longer so its likely a unicorn ala mosin with bipod. the pending wipe will take care of all that remain I am sure. to the peeps that cry hack over every irregularity... says it all. ummm I read the disclaimer and I went into the game with no disillusions and I have no issues with the current dev state of the game - I will still tell the idiots that failed to inform themselves as to the nature of this game's development to shut the hell up if their only problem is they don't know how to READ. if you fail to inform yourself of the nature of the product you are buying you have only YOURSELF to blame if the product doesn't live up to your uninformed expectations. its the equivalent of buying a red car and expecting it to be blue on delivery and then bitching because its red. so no they are not "well within their rights" to expect a product they did NOT buy.

OK both of you have mentioned "if" the weather etc... on the current experimental build this is already functioning and trust me its not hard to manage but it has absolutely changed the way I approach the game overall - experimental and stable are not just two versions of the same game anymore they are almost different games entirely thanks to the environment becoming deadly. if the new environmental effects do not change your opening moves.... I can't even finish that because it will change your opening moves or you will not survive. having said all that, after several hours of getting healthy enough to ignore most of the environmental effect I realized I wasn't even thinking about other players.

so I guess the development of a 64bit server based platform wasn't a feature... I guess that silly ragdoll wasn't a feature either... oh and by the way I guess loot respawns and navmesh additions/improvements and hunting system and persistent storage/items are not features either. that's all on stable now by the way. experimental has a shit-ton of new non-features too. and this doesn't even touch on all the new content. do you even play the game? peeps like you and the OP really make my head hurt.

if you open the steam overlay in the game and select "view players" it will display all the steam IDs on the server you are on.

I have to agree that encountering a pile of unsuccessful survivors in various states of decay would certainly add that uber creepiness. I remember the day I found that pile of bodies next to the bus beside the road (not a mod player so I had never encountered those before) and as I stood there looking it was hard to not imagine one or two of them still moving about somewhat. I gotta say it was hard to turn my back on that sight and move on down the road and that wasn't even a first class rendering of potential aftermath gore. so yeah, moar dead bodies pleeeese

gee I sure am glad at this stage in the game that its still in ALPHA and the global loot economy is a huge work-in-progress at the moment... and to those of you that want to know how it feels to have to conserve your ammo in a firefight - maybe you should just jump right in with the PvP as soon as you have a magnum and a box of ammo instead of sneaking all the way out to some military location for the specific purpose of tooling up for a worry-free PvP experience (yeah I know that no one else will do this so why should you). just a thought. anyways patience peeps - balance will come at some point but its not really even a game yet just a working prototype of a game. oh and OP welcome to the forums.
