oh that blows - that's my go to for video problems too. hopefully someone else will come along soon with better info edit: it occurs to me that you may have to reinstall the game and then try changing some of the settings

sorry but this gave me a little chuckle. don't let it get you down too much, its a sad part of the game but its a part of the game none the less. you are of course free to adopt those tactics yourself and have a good laugh at someone else's expense as well (just so you know I would have been in your position too had I been there). the best advice I can offer is to resign yourself to constant death and hope that most of them are a good death and view your gear as something borrowed and not owned. oh and gear is just everywhere most of the time so all it really takes to recover is a bit of patience and maybe some stealth.

I'll just address a couple of these... as for sights/scope on the sporter (ruger 10/22) I'll just let you contemplate this http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_xQaq8IgtGgk/TAFNB98CdTI/AAAAAAAAAE4/u2fJHM18K3s/s1600/IMG_7003.jpg for a bit. it just needs it's scope added to the game overall. there have been many of these nice little rifles in the family and we scoped them all, even my browning bl-22 has scope rails and its an antique. you are 100% correct on the burlap wrap - looks more like white linen once its made and the grass does not help. the makeshift bayonet had me thinking along these lines... kitchen knife + duct tape + ash wood stick = "here let me poke your eye out". that's about all I have an opinion on but let me say you have some good ideas going there (I almost never say that by the way) ;)

ummm pretty sure we were discussing the game. it has an age gate for a reason, I simply wish it were enforced. and I find your tone to be a bit offensive. much like children playing adult games.

heh nothing like having the game play for you to your detriment whilst you are away. this is the primary reason I don't play state of decay anymore - the other reason is it was boring as hell but that's another topic.

interesting... have you been following the actual development? perhaps you should read some of the stuff here http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum/138-devtracker/ before posting and save yourself some extraneous typing. just sayin.

welcome to the forum, not too sure about the "mouse arrow" problem but if you are using the track pad I would recommend getting an actual mouse. to adjust the resolution properly for the game you need to adjust the "user interface" settings after you open the video menu in the game settings - there has been an issue that is apparently still around where the user interface cause the "rendering resolution" to max out at the default user interface resolution, in your case it seems to be 650x400. once you have the user interface resolution set the way you like (I always max mine) then you should be able to adjust the "rendering resolution" (I recommend the 100% setting, less is blurry and more is laggy) and "aspect ratio". this should fix the video problem. something to take note of as well. the game is of course not the best for overall optimization at this stage of development and it is very CPU intensive. windows 7 and windows 8 have an issue with core parking on multi-core processors and the game quite simply does not tell the OS to utilize all of the available cores on your processor (yet), there are settings that can be adjusted within the operating system to allow all cores to be available all the time (it will use more power so be aware of that as you using a laptop). sadly I can't recall the settings off the top of my head but a quick web search for "core parking" or "CPU parking" should bring up a fair amount of information about it. although this has already been addressed I have actually seen the sad reality. during my brief tenure in Haiti while the UN provisional government was in charge the blue hats were armed to the teeth - gotta say its kinda weird to see a tank painted white with the UN symbol emblazoned on it side. but that was about 20 years ago and it was Haiti, so theres that.

ok I gotta mention this again (yes I told some of this in another thread). I was heading into the base at veresnik and was startled by another player I had not noticed on my quick recon (my tactics have since changed) but he lowered his weapon and choose to speak so I lowered my axe. we decided to loot the base together. it had already been looted so we were really just going thru the scraps but when we came to the jail he rushed in to clear the building and then came out as I was just getting to the door. he informs that its all clear inside and there is still some good gear in there (I may have upgraded my backpack, don't recall for sure) but when I came back out he was standing a bit away from the door naked. I was rather startled and somewhat concerned when he speaks up and says "hey if there is anything here you need just help yourself", his gear had been neatly laid out in rows to make for easy viewing. wow ok so I check his gear and as I was pretty much geared up anyway and only looking for one or two hard to find items in the first place I graciously declined and he picked up all of his gear. did I mention we were in the middle of the base at veresnik? on a high pop experimental server? lunacy I tell ya. I gave him directions to zelenogorsk and we parted ways with a friendly wave. this was months ago but I will never ever forget that one. Phillip, again if you are reading this, you have provided one of the single most interesting experiences I have ever had in gaming and I have been gaming since Pong, thanks man!

maybe it can fit one slot paper items such as a map? however you are probably correct in that its useless ambient junk... something else to collect I guess ;)

maybe a nice place to put the map or some notes on paper without loosing a space in normal inventory?

nope we don't but we sure do spend our money on the game none the less.

duh, never occurred to me that "dime bag" might be exclusively an American tradition. yeah its a bag of weed that cost 10 bucks (at least it was 10 bucks when I was in school 30 years ago) so does this mean the age gate at the steam store will actually mean something?? is the end of the squeaker at hand???

ahhhh dammit..... halfway 'round the globe - that's a fantastic reason for boats! props for sharing however. I don't think I've ever seen the NZ experimental servers as I usually set my ping to 100, anything more is just dodgy at best. I have seen the AU servers back when I was desperate to play any experimental server and they were running over 300 ping to me so I joined a UK server at 180-200. the zeds were running in place and I couldn't open doors. maybe someday when optimizations have occurred and boats are in ;) for the rest I will agree to disagree and call it good at that.

awesome, thanks for asking :) found a hacksaw - woot! its possible that someone was just doing a little target practice. that's one of my favorite places to sharpen my ranging skills cause the view is awesome (kinda like my day) and there is almost always a zed or two at the edge of my draw distance (and the occasional player which I will usually ignore, usually) its only good for a couple of shots as the mosin tends to draw unwanted attention but one must keep ones skills sharp I'll make a personal note not to shoot red riding hoodie should I happen to see ya there.

hehe that's why I have a mosin w/ lrs... with a huge amount of luck (cause no skill will ever tell me what server he will be on) I will find him afoot in chernarus where I will kindly let the mosin do the talkin. back on topic - I do like the idea of small water craft 'cause islands.... just not a fan of the river idea but I guess that painfully apparent. tug boats would seem to be something ya might find too but yeah I agree with the whole not-so-many (if any) military boats. as a soloist I am not likely to ever be in the position to acquire an operational vehicle of any kind unless they solve the bicycle problem but I do have a penchant for observation and it would really interesting to see what people do with their boats.

you might change your opinion of large inland rivers once .49 rolls out then. I really HATE games that force you play with others by the way. many many people think I am terrible person but usually those people are insignificant in my life so they are kind of pointless overall. I do have to respond to his last post however - I despise having my words twisted by the ignorant. never said anything about killing everyone because someone WANTS to add something. did say I will kill everyone IF its added - massive difference. is your misrepresentation intentional? funny I read that as "handicam". I was expecting something akin to strapping a cam to a zed and letting it run wild..... I have to assume that you are not using an NVidia card as the drivers come with "GeForce Experience" which has ShadowPlay to record. if you are using NVidia I recommend using shadowplay for recording, it captures from the GPU which seems to be all but ignored by the game.

how do you enjoy ANY game when you depend on others to make it fun for you? you play your way, I'll play mine.
