I would simply unplug my mic and run TS on the laptop - there I've fixed your annoying always on mic and am forever muted in the game.

you have played the experimental right? it takes about a third as much time to "eat all" than it does to keep pressing "f" till there is nothing left. its a huge time saver and makes eating much less annoying.

heh I have a bad habit of using the M4 as a disposable "breach" weapon. when I loot a base I usually find one right off the bat then some ammo and I carry it in hand as I work thru the base and drop it on my way out the other end. I've found a ton of mosins which is nice as its my go to long gun and I HATE the magnum - its loud, only has 6 shots and is way too "dirty harry" for my tastes so my side arm is the .45 - I won't pick up an SKS unless there is no other gun around but will on occasion carry a sawed off in my backpack.

it is - I saw one today in a storage shed near vybor and tried it on - not my style currently but it is nice looking. typical biker jacket ;)

so is it really possible that a person can teleport to your location on the map? I've always just assumed when I join an empty server, and sometimes there are like 40 of them, that they join for the sole purpose of hunting me else they would join another empty server. however I've only been caught like that once. dunno if he teleported or not but its not like I was really hiding - there was really no one on the server but us. oh I did start watching my back a little closer after that.

yeah run run run ... been known to dance around em to grab some loot too but if I'm bored I might punch em around for a while - risky at best. I was outside of one of the sobors, novy I think, and attracted like 5 of em and let em chase me out of town then I sprinted to a tree line when they paused to look for me again I did the sneaky walk back into town and looted till I had an axe, they eventually found me again but hey I had an axe by then.

Of course there are but do they have zombie apocalypse??? The zombies and the sandbox were the draw for me the pretty keeps me here cause it sure ain't the survivors... just sayin.

wow maybe you should consider moving to umm say Vermont or Maine. I was born and raised in the south and I have never encountered what you describe. My 4 years in New Hampshire however were pure hell on earth - rudest people I have ever met (to be fair the New Hampshire peeps blame an influx of Massholes from Boston for that)

I kind of like the idea of dead players becoming zeds, kinda solves the "how to spawn new zeds" problem and if it happens quickly it could curb some of the KOS mentality, you should check the "bambi road" video from the 100 player experimental servers its rather horrifying but that would make for a dangerous road for the killers themselves.

I've run alone since I started playing so I'm pretty much used to it and no I don't wear feet as a hat (although....) but I digress... I've been killed by other players exactly twice and I've only had to kill one other player (douche makes all nice then tries to knife me so I axed him) I mostly kill my self through my own stupidity or fun glitches like falling 2 feet off a rock. I always plan to gear up all nice and head to the population and hunt the bad guys (or the ones that look like bad guys) and help the good guys (but I have yet to find any). Every single encounter I have had with another player has been bad so I take my time collecting my gear and questing for map pieces and the gear I trash falling off stairs and bumping into zeds. Currently I am in a heated search for a black cowboy hat oh and that other piece of the map I'm missing but I just recently took another fall down some stairs (curse the 3 level barn!) so I need to replace my pants now too oh and everything what was in them. Maybe someday I'll run into you and we can run together for a while, it might be interesting to see how the other half plays. Oh and for the record I don't shoot first (yet).

oh indeed it would. there would be a LOT of dead men as ALL the women in my family are armed to teeth and trained to apply such arms in time of need and we are not shy about it.

I'll have to give that a try. I've been just unloading my weapons before logout then I load em again after I fully load to the server or when I feel safe enough to make some noise.

I saw that guy once - pretty strange.

I had a browser open on my other monitor once that was running an activeX advertisement that refreshed every half hour or so and the game would minimize to the desktop as that ad grabbed desktop focus - I eventually figured this out and stopped leaving a browser open on the other monitor

oh I didn't know this - I will have to remember to stay logged on longer after I get killed - I did try to respawn back to the same server so I could offer some 'gratz but the server wouldn't load. I hope the guy enjoys the gear if he got it - northern map and all ;) otherwise its all a waste

well I have to agree with all the "this is now my favorite game" posts. as for being a woman in the game I have yet to have anyone speak to me at all so theres that. I've been gaming for a lot of years and have had a lot of different reactions to being in "man" country but yeah i'll shoot you if you give me a reason. I try to play a humanitarian game but sometimes you just gotta kill em. ohhhh and I found out the other day I will be a grandmother soon - I hope all you kids don't mind grandma watchin from the hills....

OK every encounter I have had with other players has been bad - I have considered the KOS mentality and soundly rejected it - talk first then shoot, what have ya got to loose other than your stuff and your location. I keep asking myself do I want to survive as a person or do we want to survive as a people. both times I have been KOSed I was on my way to the coast with basic gear for the not so fortunate... I want us to survive as a people. in all fairness I do tend to gear up rather heavily and have the appearance of someone that will shoot first. I've only killed one other player and he was after me with a knife so I axed him only to be cuffed and robbed while bandaging my wounds. OP welcome to the apocalypse. oh another note: I found a hooker zed (lady in fishnets) standing in a cemetery seemingly forlorn and looking over the graves, my heart ached and I wept a little then I sent her on to her ancestors...

interestingly enough I have found both the southern map and the northern map - just not with the same character :/ you can find a northern map and southern map that make a complete map also there is an eastern and western that will do the same however there are also NE, NW, SE, and SW pieces that you can find as well. keep looking and you'll find em. you might even find one on some unfortunate survivor (I really hope those guys enjoy that southern map I was carrying...)

Woot! just ran for about 2 hours on experimental - cuttin it up in electro first then off to cherno (minor lag sighting from the firestation tower was all) then off to balota choppin zeds all along the way with me settins on high and virtually no lag and no indication of the previous FPS drops we've been seeing and it was unplayable for me before.... there is hope! - me likes :) thanks rocket and crew ;)

OK just tried that and it seems to have worked so far - runnin a GTX 650

so i was up on the 10th floor in one of those fancy high-rises in dubky (not smart to begin with..) and as i was carefully making my way back down i went to step over the rubble on the stairs and jumped instead - right out the window - to my untimely death - very pretty view on the way down however. i have to admit it was a better death than the time i fell off a 3 foot high rock...

if someone spawns with a weapon that uses ammo and they are close to you, you will hear the ammo loading sound. chances are he just joined the server you were on in the same location as you and followed the KOS rule for military areas. just bad luck there.
