point taken I don't really like boys much but if they ever add this maybe I'll apply for the job of "lookout" ;)

in your very first post you suggest hiding loot behind some locked something or other that requires the player to play some silly mini-game just to get at it - that gives those players the advantage over the majority of us that have no interest in your silly mini-games or do you just not quite get that?? personally I like having my loot on the floor, table, bunk, or some poor sod that got in the way. what you suggest would defiantly make my game experience different than it is now. if you want a quest I suggest you read this post... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/168707-the-ccsd-chernarian-creepy-stuff-department-needs-investigators-for-the-radio-transmission-mystery/?hl=%20green%20%20mountain%20%20numbers%20%20station no skipping to the end and do be aware that I personally participated and that this is all player driven - the way the devs intended. -

now that there is funny ;) I could use a LRS come to think of it.. -
you're incredibly naïve to think a couple of lookouts will keep the place safe - the only way to guarantee the safety of such a location is from within the game mechanics itself and somehow I don't think there are any plans for such - some modder might do this later on but its certainly not a feature I'd like the dev team to mess with, we have more pressing issues. edit: oh and you are still trusting the people that server as your lookouts to not turn bandit and rob everyone blind - temptation can be hard to resist at times

campers waiting and watching the entrances/exits to said underground... while i am not opposed to a trade system, in the end its all about trust (of which there is little in DayZ) so far i've had exactly one trade experience and it went pretty good - i was surrounded by heavily armed players (not with me, i play solo) and i managed to trade for a hacksaw with everything going on the ground, i left with my saw and they left with a bag of rice or some such. i think a seperate trade window will simply add more time to the transaction once stable is updated, instant drop is on the way ;)

perfectly safe right? -
hrm in a real world scenario I can tell you my name is anything and I can use a different name with every person I encounter - of course in a real world scenario I am an individual by appearance so I can be identified by how I look but I can also attempt to wear a disguise and change my look as much as possible with whats available. just a couple of things to consider based on "realism". on a side note it would be nice if there were some identifier that you could allow for the sake of clans and such.

for starters I am not a guy nor am I young - you can stuff your generalities where the sun don't shine - this is not my first sandbox game, the first sandbox game I really enjoyed began to fail miserably once a questing system was implemented - just go play WoW if you want this kind of crap in a game and stop trying to force it on the rest of us. one would think that after the resounding NO to your suggestion that you would have just dropped it by now and yet you insult us because we don't like your idea. go pound sand buddy. see ya in cherno. -

ok I'll add something useful - you don't like the game leave it. what you are suggesting is a system that will reward some people with better gear for choosing to play the "mini-game" while leaving the rest of us with just the basic gear for not choosing to play the "mini-game". as the game is now the only advantage you might have is... well there isn't any advantage to anyone, that's the point. we are all equal as characters and only manage our survival by using our actual wits, some are better at that than others but that is something the player brings to the game. oh and crafting recipes are not "quests". edit: I've already admitted that I am on my personal scavenger hunt, call it a quest if you like but the game sure didn't dish it out to me - I chose to search for the things I want and for the record I found the green paint and a better compensator..... now if I could only find that scope -
so apparently it's based off some location in the Czech Republic - you might enjoy this post... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167224-a-google-street-view-tour-of-chernarus-updated/?hl=chernarus%2Bmap

huh, I'm currently on my own personal scavenger hunt, I'm looking for a better compensator, LRS, green paint and some more map pieces. some of these items take me to some very dangerous places and some do not. the quest is easy, stay alive, find better gear, kill zombies and/or players. I can see what you are getting at however, but I find some of the appeal of this game is the lack of directed structure. it's my life in the game not some NPC's. -
rock on!

it was the 1891 with the old soviet marks stamped over the old tsarist marks - its biggest problem was it had been "sporterized" meaning the much of the fore stock had been cut away to make it appear to be a hunting rifle which greatly affects the barrel harmonics (and the collector value sadly). oh and it kicked like a mule, the steel butt plate bruised my shoulder after a mere 5 rounds. the rifle I had been using up to that point was a British .303 carbine but it had all the original furniture intact and fired like a dream. edit: good to know some of the history on the Obrez, thanks :)

remember children... always be energized, hydrated and healthy before venturing in to harms way.... just sayin.

yeah stairs are a bitch... I was up on the 6th or 7th floor in one of those tall apartment buildings in dubky once and as I was comin back down the stairs when I came to the place where there is some rubble on the stairs so you have to kinda vault over it to get past, well I guess I was in a hurry cause I ended up vaulting right out the window... nice view goin down tho.

hahah fair enough! - have some beans sir ;)

Christ it'd break your wrist... have any of you ever actually fired the mosin nagant in real life? I know that there are actual specimens of these "pistols" out there but why?? I've owned a model 1891 and while its a beautiful rifle the 7.62x54r has the recoil of a rhinoceros - it hurts to shoot.
-
maybe they could just forego the "realism" for nighttime and hang a permanent full moon - nights under the full moon with normal gamma and brightness are beautiful and not to crazy dark
-
oh yeah and to the OP if there is a soccer field across the road just kind of head towards that and keep goin in that same direction - should take you back to khelm/berezino area
-
I'd have to agree with you on that one - if there is a soccer field across the road...
-
oh I am quite certain that it will happen at some point and at which time some poor individual gets to suffer some blood loss and broken bones (I'm not one to just outright kill someone just for being there) if I am in a good mood I might even offer some assistance after a bit of disarmament - then again it could all go south and I start off on the coast again ;)
-
oh. you rent a server and the hosting company provides the equipment (at their location of course) while you as the renter get admin access to the server. some are cheap, relatively speaking, and some are not. good luck and have fun :) as a side note you can look over some the server names to get an idea of who is hosting

shoot em in the leg - in almost 430 hours of gameplay I've never had anyone log on right next to me and I do tend to watch my surroundings quite a lot. but hey whatever floats yer boat dude.

Why Private Hives should be limited when they become available
Elle replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
Oh I see, makes good sense and that would kinda suck. I find there are a ton of empty to low pop servers for stable already.
