so then you add the options "open door", "carefully open door", "beat the effin door down" - having had a good look over most of the buildings on the map the only doors - and mean the only ones - that have any inclination of being silent openers are the ones in military areas - the rest of the place looks like it hasn't seen a drop of oil since before the 20th century. having said all that, maybe the devs could add a little oil can you carry in your pants just for the purpose of trying to open those doors silently.. oh and carefully.

from the thread header - Doors & NoiseStarted by DoctorWhy, Today, 03:25 PM I'd have to say its a new one.

Why do 'heroes' think all fresh spawns are new players?
Elle replied to Sebidee's topic in General Discussion
read your post, read muffin's post, twice for both just to make sure I didn't miss anything - I didn't - if I spoke to you in VC and got no response in either VC or text I would assume you were a noob or my mic was buggy, in either case I would go on about my business (which would be putting much distance between us) unless you broke into hostilities in which case I would put as much of my ammo as possible into you then go about my business (still putting much distance between us) - I have very little use for player interaction at this stage in the game as most everyone I encounter is a douchbag with a few exceptions. -
would be nice. I always close the door behind me anyway so I can peek to see that its still closed, the sound of it opening again would certainly get my attention.

pretty sure that if I use the TS app on my phone (which is sitting here next to me) that it can't be heard in game... maybe the devs shouldn't waste time and space incorporating things that can be easily defeated by simply switching to a non-affected device and concentrate on solving the big picture of the game - later if the modders want to do "whatever" to the game then that's up to them.
-
I already do the scavenge hunt for better gear and I don't care about the story, I care about the endgame and until the game is finished I will continue searching for better gear, keeping my girl alive and avoiding the public in general. for me, that's the challenge and its already much more difficult on experimental so I think the devs know what they are doing - sadly weapon scarcity is in the works but that's all in the devblogs you should read em sometime.
-
maybe you should embrace the deathmatch till the game is finished - at the very least stop trying to interact with people if getting shot is not your thing.
-
I'm with you on the ammo, seems to be an awful lot of it layin around considering, umm you know, zombies n all. I'm completely opposed to locking stuff up behind some something or other that requires me to solve some puzzle to get at it, there are enough games like that out there already and I don't like playing them or I wouldn't be here. I like this game - don't fuck it up.

umm there is a way to text chat in the game which can be accomplished rather quickly - if you don't know that then you are indeed a noob. edit: in OP's defense... he did resort to text once discovering the mic problem. -
if you think my M4 isn't valuable, come try and take it - I'll show you how valuable it is. you sure have a lot of suggestions for someone that's put in less than 40 hours of game time. you must get shot a lot to want to hide all the guns somewhere. by the way this is not an original idea and it doesn't get a lot of support.

Killing players makes all the gear they carry go ruined?
Elle replied to keklily's topic in General Discussion
yes. -
I'm with you on the beans situation - very frustrating when I know I can beat open a can with a rock. as for the weapons business, I usually have to open a door or two to find a weapon so they are not exposed to the environment and coming from very sad personal experience, I left a BL-22 in storage for just over 4 years (it was only supposed to be a few months but life sux sometimes) in what amounts to slightly better than a barn - it survived 6 hurricanes in florida and only has a bit of surface rust (which is highly annoying) but the rifle itself operates just the way it did before I put it in storage, which is to say its still a dream to shoot, if I ever have to store another weapon I'll remember to wrap it better so the moisture never gets to it. seems to me that with every server reset the apocalypse is just a few days to a couple of weeks past.
-
so if I find an M4 on a bunk because its previous owner zombied out and wandered off to join the ranks of the undead that M4 is now somehow broken?? makes no sense. edit: in fact it makes more sense to have that M4 locked and loaded, ready to go. instead we get to hunt for mags and ammo, but whatever.

Frosti answered the question appropriately - items get ruined when you kill someone so that you are encouraged to rob them instead. did that help? gees -
tada! and when it comes to how hard is it to find weapons - in a real apocalypse that would depend on the country you are in - we have a few here in the house, our neighbor has a few more than we do and it goes on and on like that across most of the US, some are locked up, some are not - I can't say how it goes in the sad parts of the world where humanity has been stripped of the right to keep arms.

hrm in your original post you make it sound as though you were pissed off at these guys - seems to me this thread just got real pointless. you wanna talk to people, go where there are people - just don't come here and complain if the conversation doesn't go the way you would like it to. surely with all of your 50 hours you have figured out that much.... just sayin. -

yeah I'm just trying to understand why you didn't just sprint off into the woods and go about your business instead of standing there like a new player... seems you were as much a part of the non-existent problem as the "heros". -
oh I see - someone posted the correction and its a reference to one the more famous "numbers stations" out of old soviet union

naa my great great grandparents were sooners and settled in the high grass plains just west Cheyenne - sadly we are the great invaders. in all fairness we do have one Cherokee in the family and my brothers and I represent a 1/16th mix, so there's that.

I've managed to glitch through that door before (if its the one on the first floor of the jail anyways), I was being a dumbass and overly paranoid, I had my back to the wall next to the door when I heard something so I jerked to the right and ended up with a clear view of the world around me - I was inside that little room. I didn't sprint to the wall but I was set for run so I took a little run at the wall with the computer on it and vaulted just as I hit the wall and came right out into the room. The sound I heard was just some zed that I had missed as I would later find out. Anyway all was well with the world after that and I took my leave of NEAF. Problem start to finish was only about 5 mins tops. If your leg is broken try just standing right at that wall and vaulting. Who knows you might even find a morphine injector in the cell or on the 2nd floor.

Elle replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
yes its just over 2 weeks now - that seems like a couple to me actually - not quite a "few" but after 3 or 4 weeks of no updates then i'll concede a "few" -
that was a lot of fun to watch - thanks :)

interesting... all this because the dev didn't want to push more bugs to stable so it was delayed a week so they can figure it out - I really don't understand why people like you buy an alpha release that isn't even close to ready and whine like little spoiled children when the devs run into issues that they feel will break the game overall and don't push out a very buggy update. maybe you should wait until final release to play and stop being a child about it. after all you were warned that this is an unfinished game and may very well be unplayable at times. deal with it and STFU or go play something else in the mean time. I am so sick of seeing these kind of posts.
