you can turn on the fps counter in the steam app. go to settings, select "in-game" and enable the counter. I have NVidia for gfx so I use the shadowplay counter.

so about all our missing attachments... https://twitter.com/eugenharton/status/570646272249614336 would seem they will try to get them back for us.

aww come on harry its like magic (I apologize for finding so much humor in this by the way). duping is short for duplicating. its a bad thing to do (like necromancy) so don't do it. I wont go into particulars however.

rock on! still waiting for the setup to finish... silly me I should read more before jumping to conclusions. edit: can confirm, back in the game ;)

opps looks like it may be a trend... I've got this issue now as well. doing a full reinstall to see if that helps and will post back with results

the zeds have been chasing animals since we have had animals in the game to hunt. sometimes you will even find a dead animal that has not been skinned and a zed lurking nearby. I found a chicken like this just about an hour ago.

good story man. welcome to the forums and the apocalypse :)

.53 upgrade New item list? Let's start one!
Elle replied to danfinger (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
the shorter list for me is what I have NOT found... I have not seen: the mace the m65 jacket the canoe paddle the bayonet for AKs everything else I have examined and tossed except the flare gun and I died before I took the opportunity to fire it off... oh well, will try that again later. -
let me start by stating the game is NOT in beta it is still very much alpha. now having said that allow me to post from the steam description page that you should have thoroughly read before deciding to purchase the game... "This is DayZ, this is your story. DayZ is a gritty, authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game, in which players follow a single goal: to survive in the harsh post-apocalyptic landscape as long as they can. Players can experience powerful events and emotions arising from the ever-evolving emergent gameplay. There are no superficial tips, waypoints, built in tutorials or help given to players. Every decision matters, there are no save games, no extra lives, every mistake can be lethal. If you fail, you lose everything and you need to play again from the beginning with nothing but your wits, and your two hands. Fight the hostile environment, where every other player can be friend or foe and nothing can be taken for granted." so I am fairly certain that survival is a pretty important part of the game. as to your "suggestions" like its already been said, many of these things have already been addressed in the devblogs but you might also want to have a search thru the "suggestions" section of the main forum so that you will see everything you have mentioned has been covered (many many times) and most of what you suggest has been rejected. welcome to the forums and enjoy the search function.

For some perspective on lights at night... I spent some time on a ship in navy several years ago and all the of the hatches that opened to the weather decks (outside decks) had these interesting little black fabric maze contraptions that you had to negotiate to access the hatch. I asked about that and was informed they are called light locks (think air lock but for light) they prevent the inside light from leaking out after dark. Apparently you can see a cigarette flare up on a dark ship from the horizon (the reason smoking was forbidden on the weather decks at night), that's several miles away and just a cigarette. Do you still want realistic lights considering there is no other light to diffuse it and only the hope of obstructions to keep it from being seen? Just a thought.

oh my. I just couldn't stop looking. now if I could only find my eye bleach.... roy that was priceless ;)

IKR? I just walked to the kitchen while drinking my vodka IRL. So ummm realism...

OP I have to agree with Caboose on this one - if I decide to shoot out your legs and handcuff your ass, you are very much incapacitated but still able to call me all the nasty things you like before I decide to shoot you in the head for being an annoyance overall. In the event I choose not to bandage you while I have you incapacitated then you will bleed out to the point of unconsciousness where you will have the option to respawn if you so choose or you can just continue to die. If I leave you in this state and go about my merry way you might be found and saved by some kindly passerby or just continue bleeding out. In the event I decide I want to play with you some more I can bandage you to keep you alive longer and if you have passed out I can use an epi-pen to wake you back up for some more verbal abuse. All the while, as long as I have you handcuffed, you have the option to log out and die to escape the ordeal. Everything you have described is already in the game except not taking damage (really bad idea) and not healing (not sure what the point is). Now I have to ask the same question Caboose asked.... have you played DayZ? Edit: I need to proof read better...

How do you interact with others in this game?
Elle replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
your poll is flawed as there is no option for "I avoid everyone as if they were the plague" and "people tend to not see me as I make a point to avoid them" or "if people see me its usually my backside while I'm making for the north woods". some of us don't require any interaction to enjoy the game. I live by the notion that I don't need your stuff, I don't need your help, and I prefer to not have your company. I have been known to shoot the occasional passerby at range to keep my skills up however. -
I have observed zeds chase, catch and kill animals on many occasions, the most frequent victims of this are cows. I have to admit it is one of my favorite things to watch from the hills overlooking the orchards of berezino.
-
I have already but since you apparently haven't been able to comprehend it I will state it once again just for you... Yes to hordes and more zeds. No to everything else. OP stated a lack of things to do, I submit there are plenty of things to do. Did that help you understand my position better?
-
ikr - good thing it wasn't all non-stop playing but it did make for some long dayz since last January, at least I am creative enough to find things to do in the game so I don't whine for NPCs and hand-holding game mechanics. is it extreme? probably but I have friends that have logged over 2k hours in the game sooo maybe we just love the game.
-
hrm apparently you don't really want to play DayZ but something else that might have some zombies in it. as to how long can I play the game the way it is (bugs n all)? 1430 hours long. and I run solo 98% of the time and work my ass off to avoid other players (that's a whole game in and of itself). if you lack the creativity to find things to do in the game besides look for conflict in the player base perhaps this isn't the game for you. is this your first sandbox?
