if you are in svetlo you can put the water to your left and follow the coast to the ship at riffy and if you keep going you will end up in berenzino (largish town lots of loot). the water will be to the east and you will be running south.

they don't want our fingers getting fat from lack of use....

love the intro - welcome to the apocalypse. you will still get ganked at spawn from time to time and loots don't respawn yet so surviving on full servers can be a challenge but it can't be all bad or there wouldn't be so many of us here ;)

I use a toothpick or a paperclip.... would love a key for it tho.

I would suggest a SW route from svetlo/benezino - pretend you are running to zelenogorsk - and search every building you pass. you would be amazed at how many random buildings there are out in the woods. as for the berries make sure you are eating the right ones or you will die from berries not starvation.

experimental is where I play the most and I have no problems surviving (minus the occasional asshat with a gun or axe of course) - hell I even spend tons of time running around in the spawn towns just to see the madness and when I get bored with that I head inland and start stocking up on supplies with no problem. I've died a lot due to zeds, players and alpha but I have never starved to death in over 600 hours.

soooo was just playing on experimental and I get me some zeds comin in so I tells myself "no biggie" cause I'm packin me trusty ole fire axe. the first one arrives and I give it the usual nasty whack to the head.... then again and again and again.... by now zed no.2 has arrived to join in the festivities so I am whackin em alternately till they die - took around 5 to 7 hits each (mind you not all of those were headshots as I was busy steppin to avoid injury to my person and belongings). they linger as a corpse for a while longer now too. on a brighter note, they seem to be just a tiny bit slower. after all the fun I have 3 ruined inventory items, a ruined jacket (was pristine) and a badly damaged backpack (was also pristine). so I guess I now have new objectives - gear replacement.

hrm looks a standard KoS rant to me but I'll play..... KoSers are roleplaying from their perspective, they just play as homicidal maniacs, some with creativity (handcuffs et al..) and some with none (BANG! yer dead). to survive on a full server that's been up for a while get the hell out of the city and off the coast - once you are well inland there will be more loot, also you can pick berries for sake of dealing with hunger. so to recap: spawn, stay in town, die or spawn, run like hell inland, survive. to address the testing aspect - the KoSers are also testing so don't worry to much about the testing not happening, I assure you it is. on realism - what may be realistic to you may not be realistic to others, keep that in mind before leveling harsh criticism and insult to others for not playing your way.

hrm i'll have to try that again then - seems the last time I tried that it was only max zoom with + and least zoom with -

a lot of the sniper videos show a zoom that does not exist in the game, they zoom the image of the video to show better detail. the LRS only has two zoom positions so its possible you have witnessed the video zooming. on a side note I typed the word zoom so many times in this post it now looks funny to me....

seems like he wants helicopters back in general too..... someday we can make our own helicopter crash sites. :)

well at least he spoke to ya - the ones I hate are the ones that don't say anything and just go psycho as if shooting fish in a barrel constitutes fair play. but hey - its DayZ

hrm makes me think flash-bangs or grenades should be allowed but extremely rare - that's how real tac units work right? lacking items to even the score however, maybe you could simply overwhelm them with numbers - go up 4 at time with 2 facing forward and 2 facing back while shooting the whole time and concentrate fire once your target is identified - you might loose 1 or 2 people but you should be able to clear the upper floor (unless you are just grossly outnumbered to begin with). the biggest problem is the stairs themselves, no way to actually run up them, speed would be critical. good luck and have fun.

the part that says we wash ashore as a castaway at sea. it was something mentioned by rocket but I'll see if I can dig up a link and post it. official lore would be awesome tho because its tiresome searchin the net for the reasons behind DayZ.

ok so when this proves to be a problem with servers, address it, until then don't waste time tinkering with the code to fix something that isn't broken. wilderness spawns go against lore. change the lore and I will change my opinion on spawn location.

too true on the gear-up at svetlo and it is such a pretty town.... my issue with it is really hardware related - I get driver crash and recovery (leaves my game with black screen with all the sounds but no picture) and the occasional BEX error that's apparently a DEP issue (we tinkered with settings for the BEX error this morning so I need to test that out) but other than that svetlo is awesome I just don't get to enjoy it much and spawning there is a gamble for my system.

wth for?? if I don't like my life in the game I end it. my choice and it hurts you not at all. actually kinda hoping you are being sarcastic cause that's effin draconian. apparently the game can handle some kid jumpin from a tower/building/cliff 30 times so whats it to you if the kid chooses to?

so I was on an 80/80 server this morning and it ran just fine if not better than the 40/40 servers from yesterday. the 100/100 servers run pings just a lil higher than I like so I skipped em in favor of the 80/80 with less than 100 ping.

I see a lot of servers that say "No KOS" I don't see any that say "PVE Only" (not that I really look that hard for em). I will say this however - I get a good chuckle from the "No KOS" servers cause its not like you're gonna get kicked or anything for it (as stated by the OP). I do have respect for the server admins that try to keep it friendly though and I think that being able to express that in the server name simply makes good sense. kudos OP for running a friendly "No KOS" server and good luck with the enforcement of that policy. oh I almost forgot - I agree with the OP on the definitions of "PVE only" and "No KOS"
