Can the leg pain status be ignored or does it get worse?
Elle replied to randmanq's topic in New Player Discussion
morphine or a splint - lately I've been using the splints as morphine is a bit scarce. the only effect I think I've noticed from this status is a shaky scope reticle but I could be mistaken, I just fix it as soon as I have sticks for the splint. -

Why do some players do everything possible to avoid interaction?
Elle replied to mithrawndo's topic in General Discussion
yeah well it makes my heart sink to witness people like you feel as tho your aggression is the moral high ground somehow. and I think we have the answer to your original post - people like you are the reason people like me will never surrender and work hard to avoid interaction. oh and do you think for one second that during the apocalypse I am going to stop and consider that at some point in history my ancestors beat the stuffing out of your ancestors?? seems unreasonable. edit: forgot to address the hostage situation - he was not your hostage until you had immediate control of his person. that did not happen until you shot him. -

he wasn't your hostage until you incapacitated him and cuffed him but he was your victim the entire time. maybe you should have just taken the 50meter shot. "gunboat diplomacy" (not actually diplomacy but rather a "my gun is bigger than your's" situation) may work between governments that have armies but it never works with smaller groups - someone always looses (a lot in most cases) - and I am sorry but everything you have described in your OP makes you the aggressor plain and simple. I and many like me will not negotiate - remember that the next time you corner some solo player and try to have your way with them. edit: oh and history lessons have no relevance in a video game that establishes an unprecedented event (albeit fictional) that destroys everything that was built on that history. welcome to the apocalypse. -

like I said - not being taken hostage, ever. apparently your victim felt the same way. the second you say anything that suggests I should in any way disarm or stop while I am running or anything along those lines you have just tossed diplomacy down the crapper. -

no worries I live around a lot of OCD. be sad all you want but I am not alone in this and you will encounter many that feel this way. as for your victim... his mistake was trying to flee - just sit tight and kill everything that comes thru the door or wait till the squad gets bored (patience, while not always providing a just reward, has much merit on its own) or opts out of the risk of loosing life or gear. soooo you've caught me on a base with my pants down and you are telling me to drop my wep or die - diplomacy just shit the bed. -

some of us are simply NOT going to be hostages. ever. had you cornered me in that barracks and I had no way out except at your good will then I am forcing you to fight no matter the odds - I don't want to chat with you at this point and I am certainly not compliant. yes you will likely kill me. I will do everything in my power to kill or maim as many of you as possible. the more it costs you, the better I feel about it. the biggest difference in the way I play vs the way you play is that if I have the upper hand on a military base I will almost always allow the other person to escape if I have not been seen and if I have been seen I will assure the other person that I have no intent to shoot (even if I have my wep pointed at their face) and we should part ways alive and unscathed. in an even match its usually a flight situation on both sides (as in no one had a wep out and we surprised each other) I tend to allow my flight direction to be known and I watch my six but I run. if I am on the loosing side no matter how many I encounter, I die. if you are alone I will likely leave you unscathed (and take my punishment for not being alert) but if you are in a group the odds of dick measuring is pretty high so.... at any rate once the shooting starts I am going to shoot up as much of your group as I possibly can and force you to kill me. once dead or unconscious I will respawn immediately so grab your cuffs or just keep em in your pocket cause I aint stickin around to hear you talk smack on local comms. -
I know right?? if I spend 6 hours gearing up I did it on purpose... otherwise I get geared up reasonably well rather quickly (of course it all depends on what I plan to do with that spawn). I will spend a ton of time just looking at stuff too so there have been times when its taken me days to gear up but that's all on me.

What can i do to draw more players into our server?
Elle replied to afr0n0me's topic in General Discussion

aww Irish that was cute :)

I have noticed that when I switch from the server list back to the main load screen my char will start her animations right off - yesterday I discovered that if I click and hold LMB while animation is playing I can release the LMB and the animation will finish and start over right away. might not be the same for you but good luck :)

its a bug and the devs are aware.

the last few times I was in that town I had run-ins with zeds so I guess they've been added. I have only run across 5 all together and I am sure that at least two of those were respawns. I've found them close to the fire station and near the new log house in the center of town.

disable post processing. you will get a performance boost as well.

this has happened to me on several occasions but I finally noticed a difference yesterday. I went looking for that new town north of the "new" town north of neaf (its not there yet) and I was heading back to the "new" town and came across a nice sniper nest. as I am looking this little location over I am steadily getting the message about my leg hurts (little run-in with a zed earlier) but I decided to have a good scoped look back at the town and my reticle was a bit shakier than normal so I deployed the bipod and went prone but I was still shaky. I make my back into town and find some sticks in a shed and do the ole splint thing to get rid of the message about hurting leg (that's how I normally deal with it anyways) but I tested the scope again and it was as stable as it should be. I had never noticed this difference before. I should note that I have used morphine for this as well but I prefer to use a splint cause sticks are easier to find than morphine. my conclusion is that it is almost a broken leg (equal to a sprain or some other similar stress) that causes some unsteadiness but otherwise does not affect your movement and cures with morphine or splint (have not tried pain killers). seems that it will affect your aim and your character will occasionally make some noise about it.

[VIDEO] Play DayZ! (A parody of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky")
Elle replied to theendoftime@hotmail.com's topic in Gallery
omfg I almost spewed whisky all over my keyboard when the saxophone playin started.... dude that was awesome :) -
in your left picture it looks like zero post process effects and in the right side picture it looks like low to normal post process effects. the bottom picture is not a scope zoom but binoculars, which I have not had the opportunity to test very well just yet, but again it looks like post process effects. disable your post process effect and see if that helps.

yeah I've never had a problem with zeds at night. I've only ever been attacked by one zed at night and that was after I shined my light in his face (was a pistol light so he died quickly). I have run right into them at night with no problems (yes actually running into them - no agro). the nights are just too dark and lights shine thru walls so I don't run at night anymore.
-
they are pretty recent - I found a pair on experimental yesterday but then experimental was updated and I somehow killed that character. did you find them on regular or experimental?
-
we have a winner!
-
well I'd have to say you are playing the mod and not standalone.
-
haha and about 80% of the time you will be looking for something really high to jump from so you can get your ass back to some place that makes sense :p well ok maybe only 50% of the time.
-
heh yeah you will likely be dead on respawn and you get to figure it all out again - part of the fun tho right?
