considering that in the game I usually aim for another player, some lackluster zed or one of those indestructible rabbits I would have to argue about the game going for "realism" since I have never in real life had to shoot at zeds nor have I ever met an indestructible rabbit (we wont talk about shooting other players...) now that we have that all nice and clear - as an avid player I don't give 2 shits about any supposed "realism" I will however, be furious if I have to sort through 50 different calibers of ammo in the game just because "realism" - you can count me out of your "we" cause all I care about is a game that's fun I don't play em cause they are "real"

CR75 Worthless and Equip Weapons a Hindrance.

I would have to agree completely. placement is EVERYTHING in a firefight. as for the fun, well its hard to say no to the hard recoil and lavish BOOM of the 1911A1 (I had to qualify on one for the USN many moons ago but have still not bought my own). my baretta just seemed anemic by comparison but its hard to say no to the hi-cap mags...... maybe I'm just too conflicted over it all. for the money and hi-cap tho I am thinking a .40S&W is in my near future. -

ok so here is another article that lets us know the differences with the various 9mm rounds available... http://hunting.about.com/od/ammo/f/9mmluger9mmpara.htm I'm a .45 girl either way - it just does so much of a better job at stopping peeps than the 9mm. its like the difference between being run thru with a rapier vs being slammed with a Louisville slugger, i'll take the slugger any day. -

ok so this is a 5 year old posting but read the second post (the first post on that page is a good setup tho) http://policelink.monster.com/topics/64311-stopping-power-of-the-45-acp/posts edit: oops I forgot to mention... it's been my experience that the recoil on the 1911A1 is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the 92F - buts its been a while since I've been to the range. -

my late father-in-law was a Houston homicide detective - you would be astounded at how many 9mm rounds a body can take before it stops moving (likely the motivation for hi-cap magazines) and its worse when the person being shot is on certain drugs or tons of adrenaline. get a .45 that said.... there are multiple teams of devs working on different aspects of the game, the art team (all the pretty aesthetic appeal) does NOT work on performance issues - they do art, and they do it well. currently there is a team rebuilding the render engine and maybe its just me but it sure seems like working on the engine is a LOT harder than creating a new hat. perhaps you should keep up with the current development by reading all info from the devtracker and other sources that have been kindly made available to us so we have a better idea of what is going on. -

Ammo loss chance while reloading and sprinting
Elle replied to Damnyourdeadman's topic in Suggestions
hahah yeah this makes great sense actually - kudos dude - I feel like this happens to me all the time already, I swear when I am in dire straits and the zeds are a closing in I'm droppin shells like crazy just to get two more loaded in the shotty. (its really just that massive FPS drop I get when I get myself involved in close encounters around buildings but it sure feels like I'm a clumsy oaf at times) -
unless it's Lincoln's axe ;) side note: that was a pretty dumb movie but that axe was awesome oh and the art was really nice.

Character locks to servers once loot respawn in effect
Elle replied to Baklavah's topic in Suggestions
there is no rage - only disappointment that you exist. unless you are playing on US servers we are never going to be on the same server (experimental may be the only exception) I have played on a euro server or two and I really don't like the people I find there so I will just stick to my local servers thanks. as there are no rules other than what can and cannot be accomplished by engine limitations there is no "how its meant to be played" that's the fantastic brilliance of a sandbox - don't like it? go somewhere else. what you did was be an asshat and make false accusation while attempting to demean my home in some inordinate way. you sir, have no manners and are certainly not worthy of any further consideration. my sympathies to your fellow euro gamers. -
gee in over 800 hours I have never gone psycho on someone - I've seen it happen plenty of times however. I usually just die when psycho arrives - no time for that shit.

kinda hard for me to ruin your experience if we are not on the same server ehh sport? peeps like you are the reason I really have no love for the community overall. you can shove your false accusations up your backside. -

I will never understand the "we need fewer choices!" type of person. OP, what I think is - NO! I play solo and I play where I want, when I want and I sure as hell don't want the game to tell me where and when I can play - there are many many more reasons to change servers than loot, sometimes you just click the wrong server to join. I owe no allegiance to any group including the servers and their owners and I aim to keep it that way. stop trying to remove my choices. -
interesting.... I only play on US servers. not sure what that means but its darker in the game then it is outside when the times coincide.

funny thing about this is I have always viewed the piano houses as just such places. oddly enough there is some civilian clothes (sometimes a lot) and fair amount of food, weapons and ammo. I look for the piano house after I am geared for food, sewing kits and maps and before I am geared for everything else. every time I see a piano house I think of some rich ex-politburo that was fed to the zeds when the fall came. I am not opposed to having more evidence of rich people being fed to the zeds tho.

I have often wondered how far into the northern latitudes chernarus as a country is. when I join a server at 16:00 I don't expect any darkness but that's just because I am used to the day/night cycles here at home - it doesn't get dark here till around 20:00. my assumption is that chernarus is very far to the north for it to be dark so early in the evening during spring. pitch black at 16:00 to 17:00 seems unreasonable at first but then I just adjusted to it and went on.

Not sure exactly where I am, maybe Polana?
Elle replied to SheldorDayZ's topic in New Player Discussion
looks like polana to me. I took a pic of a soldier zed standing not too far from where these pics come from. you should be more or less facing gorka in those pics - I think. edit: makes me think this could be a good side game - I've seen a lot of posts like this - put up a pic and guess the location. prizes to be determined later. -
yup had the same myself - more than once sadly - splint or morphine solves it.

Default configuration at each game start (unwanted)
Elle replied to roguetrooper's topic in Troubleshooting
you can change your character's name from the first splash screen that shows your avatar and the game menu - your char name is displayed at the bottom right, just click on the name and start editing. as for the default config reset - I have no idea. -
why is it that "wit" always seems to lack something in text? I have to admit that I chuckled just a little when I first read the OP because bacon currently is the ONLY meat in the game unless you count powdered milk (some vegans will). I had actually been wondering where the higher end proteins in game were when they added the bacon. how in the hell is one supposed to exercise rule #2 without all the much needed proteins? I'm sure we will all know by BETA. anyways Sarge good call on pointing out the actual reality in game right now ;)

I will take umbrage on the "root-eater" comment but I agree 100% with the rest of this.

yup and sometimes when you think it is safe the zeds find you just as you click the logout confirmation. had that happen to me more than once. and occasionally my comp will crash while I'm busy chopping up a zed and my poor lil char just get the crap beat out of her, sometimes shes dead when I log back on and sometimes she just bleeding to death. in any case be prepared to loose EVERYTHING at any point in the game for any reason. that's what makes it so fun right? I forgot the obligatory "It's ALPHA" statement whilst I was typing it all up so just insert this one anywhere ya like... It's ALPHA!
-
good to know.... tactical bacon is not meat. interesting.
-
hrm maybe they will just wait for farming to be implemented then grow their own veggies - this of course just ignores all the fruits and veggies already available in the game.

It was late when it all started, when I began to have doubts about any success in solving my little problem. The sky was cloudy and somewhat angry looking and it had to be near sunset. I continued to press on to the west searching every house, shack, garage and barn in search of sticks for a splint. It was tedious, time consuming, and I would much rather had been somewhere else doing something else... soon enough I suppose. The pain in my arm had reached a point beyond annoyance, I'm certain its not broken but its not getting any better. I'm afraid I'll begin to attract unwanted attention with these frequent outbursts and my aim is in the shitter. I see a long barn ahead and my spirits lift briefly as I sprint to the large open doorway. I pause inside to catch my breath then go about a quick search of the open floor, no sticks. Outside again I notice the sky is much darker and my search will only become more difficult. With exhausted determination I turn myself west and jog up the low hillside scanning the horizon for any place that might harbor a bundle of sticks. As I crest the hilltop I realize that I have run right to Zelenogorsk. Sticks! Surely in all of Zelenogorsk I can find some sticks. It is at this point I remember there is a medical center here.... morphine perhaps. My mind having shifted gears with the fast approaching dark turns rapidly to the medical center and before I even realize I have abandon sticks I am standing inside. No morphine. Oh but there are garages right across the street near the water pump. Sticks! The dark is fully upon me now as I open all the garages, no sticks. I make my way through the house with a piano in it, no sticks. Looking out the window on the second floor I can just make out the outlines of the camo building on the little military base. Morphine again? Maybe sticks too? I'm thinking about the little base as I crawl under the wall and what other potential it might have. Never hurts to have an innocent look around right? I creep just a little to have a look down the way at the barracks and decide I should go have a peek at what might be inside. Damn is it dark. I'm making a fast creep across this small open area when I run smack dab into something I don't recall being there. A quick peek with the light reveals I have just collided with a zed in the dark. Needless to say much unwanted attention was attracted by that. Things are just little bit laggy as I turn my M4 to meet my latest obstacle when the lights go out. You Are Dead. Now I am fighting a minor coronary and major hissy fit so I close down the game and watch as Steam updates my game time.... 666 lesson learned, don't play on the devil's time.

aww thanks for the awesome responses, that was a really fun morning despite the fact that I lost a fully geared player - seems my endgame lately has been gear-up, scavenge hunt for maps (or some other bauble that has my attention), replace or repair all my crap that got trashed on the hunt for stuff then fix all the damage I take while searching which starts a new search for supplies/gear. I tell myself I should head over to berezino (cherno, electro, or...) and watch a gunfight or 20 as soon as I find whatever it is I am lookin for, but the search never ends, ever. freakin zeds trashin my stuffs.... to poster that suggested calling the medics, I was fully mobile at the time so I believed that my solution was just over the next hill or around the next corner. I had been telling myself this for almost two days looking for sticks or morphine (and people say there is nothing to do in the game but shoot at each other...) so it was only an annoyance but my char had started making noise about it in the game so it was time to get serious. Powell, yeah it was tough luck but its all good - after my little fits over these things I just respawn and do it all over again with a smile (crazy grin really) on my face :) so I'm havin fun.
