pretty much any of the buildings in the smaller inland villages should be safe for a trade but I've never really bothered much about the safety of the location as I have traded in the open on the streets of berezino in on the front steps of more than one police station. if I had to pick a town it would likely be tulga for the overlook, lots of concealment and cover for a sniper watch and not too many zeds

the wind blows out matches now. good thinking on the flares too it makes good sense. would like to see flares next to gas pumps blow up the pump after a few mins burning too (maybe just drastically reduce the amount of ammo needed to blow one up) but I wont hold my breath.

M4 mags spawn at helicopter crash sites and I usually find AKM mags at the military tents but sometimes (two or three times now) I see them at the construction sites.

hahah yes of course, I do not engage players in combat therefore I avoid players more than zeds ;) I will shoot if I have to but I really don't want to. omg just today I was on the phone with my son so I was using just the mouse keep an eye on things. I was crouched next to a small bush near the lighthouse at cherno - just sitting there talkin to my son - some guy comes running from a house about 400 meters away toward me. I brought the mosin up for a better look, saw the expression on his face, did not pull the trigger, put the mosin back down (not on my back) and watched him run right past me right on the other side of the bush. I was astounded. I turned and watch him search a car then look up at the lighthouse and hurry off to cherno. edit: oops I forgot to mention that I die more to my own stupidity than I do anything else in the game including glitches (I step off edges and jump through windows) although glitches are a close second.

so it was the server, I'm pretty sure they get distracted easily so someone or something (another server perhaps?) distracted it while you were just running along at some point earlier and by the time the server remembered it was supposed to be keeping track of you, you had traveled far enough to be halfway round the world. of course the server has no idea where you are now so it just figgers it will pull you to the place you need to be (half way round the world) and you die a swift but horrible death while making your way through the center of the earth (servers apparently don't study geology) and that's why your friend saw you just disappear - you got sucked into the center of the earth. ok enough levity.. I've been trying to think if I have had any suspicious deaths outside of the usual ladder-of-certain-death and I did recall it happening on the rocks at Veresnik. I was maybe a meter up on the rocks peeking into the base for movement and once satisfied that I was alone I went down the way I had gone up and "you are dead". this was like 2 months ago though so I don't know how relevant it is (of course it could have been a sniper but I was certain that I was certain that I was alone). I do get a lot of glitch death overall. I will note that on experimental today I was in the metal building with the blue doors on the ends switching out my backpack on the catwalk when I flashed black and white and got all of the broken leg messages twice (both legs I assume). it ruined my pants and all the gear in the pockets. I had been crouched and not moving with the inventory open for almost a minute when it happened. luckily I had an axe or I would probably still be there. so that's new for me. ...and people think I am silly for carrying extra pants...

heh I've died more from ladders than I have from players and quite possibly zeds. ladders are more dangerous than KoSers.

yeah damage is weird - I stumbled across a couple of guys outside of electro once that apparently spotted me while I was slowly making my way around them so they open fire. one was using a mosin the other an sks. my screen flashed black and white about a dozen times as their rounds made contact, they managed to destroy my tac vest and shirt but I never bled. I managed to loose them in the woods and checked inventory to discover that I had some ruination and more damaged goods but I was fine other than that. later that day I would fall through a roof to my death so.... crayZ DayZ

so one day I was in a field outside of a small town somewhere not far north and a little west when I found a cow so I paused for a closer look and the cow took a little run away from me. I followed for a bit when I realized I was running away from the little town I had spotted across the field so I turned to head back to town. as I approached the town I discovered I had attracted a zed and being more or less a fresh spawn I was not too prepared to deal with it via combat so evasion was my best option. I turned and ran back to the cow. luckily she hadn't gone far before stopping to graze so I stopped just past her and as I had hoped the zed lit on the cow. I made sure to keep my distance but I watched to make sure the cow continued to run away from the town and I went back to go about looting. so theres that. :)

this is where I fixed it for mine - setting it back to default after the patch seems to give unfavorable results but its all fixable from the ingame menu.

yeah that one always scares the shit outta me too. I suppose I could agree with BadAsh on this one about rotting branches n such but I still hate that one the most.

first of all you don't have to be an asshole about shit. I am not a PvPer so I rarely encounter other players. zeds do NOT insta ruin items every time they hit you, I should know I get hit a lot by em. they will badly damage pristine items a lot and if you are properly using your containers they will often damage or ruin the container and damage the contents but not ruin everything in them. maybe you are just doing it wrong. at any rate it gives you something to do besides hunt other players, now you can go find better gear. I never said it shouldn't be fixed but I am also sitting here with the understanding that the zeds are STILL placeholder items in the game, there is an entire studio now working on that. I also never equated quirky zed behavior to hacking, cheating, or game breaking bugs (this zed prob is not game breaking by any stretch) - you did that. if you find hacks or cheats report them. buggy zeds have been reported since release. edit: I forgot to address what I want in this game - I want it finished, no more no less, and bitchin and whining about shit over and over again will never get it there.

umm I use my sewing kit all the time. you have already admitted that instant ruined state is random which means a lot of the time its just getting a little damaged, I am surprised you are not crying about the one-shot kills by zeds too but again they are pretty random and lately rare. just chalk it up to the fact that sometimes the zed gets the better of you, I mean after all, players do that to each other all the time, zed is just another player in that respect.

hahah exactly! I always plan to make it back to the coast for people watching but rarely ever make it as I am usually having to find and replace all the freakin gear that gets damaged by the zeds I encounter on my rather meandering route to the coast. and they say there is nothing to do endgame, hell there is no endgame.

heheh this is a funny thread... why don't ya'll just pretend the game is hunted for now (it will add to that tension) and it will all seem reasonable - that's what I do and almost every time I hear some weird should-be-a-player-made sound I stop and check my surroundings, I am almost always alone - chances are if you are hearing those sounds and there is someone nearby they haven't seen you else they would not be making all that noise (unless they are just suicidal). now all of this does NOT mean that it shouldn't be fixed but I seem to recall reading that in the last month or so in addition to the new studio purchased for the zed/animal stuff that they also hired a team specifically for the ingame sound stuff so I am sure this will be address before too long. spend some time on a farm well away from the sounds of industrial civilization and you will hear those sounds - unless the farmer has secured every last little bit of loose articles on the farm or the wind doesn't blow - gates will swing in the wind as will farm implements hanging in a barn if the door is open oh and barn doors will also swing in the wind and occasionally slam shut with a little gust. when I hear those sounds in the game again I will stop and look around and usually I find that I am very near an agricultural area or some small village is just over the next hill. I do not recall ever hearing the random gate/fence/barn door in the woods well away from any buildings. in the woods I usually only hear the wind, birds, that funny twig breaking, sometimes crickets, and the usual "the game is hunted" sounds.

sooo OP admits to being a camper laying in wait for easy prey then cries about a bandit that attempts to combat log (OP seems to have been successful in stopping that) and now insists that the log-in sounds that were already removed be returned to the game. ummm NO. combat logging and server hopping has been marginally addressed with the log-in/log-out timers so its apparent that the devs are concerned about this and are working on a viable solution. in the mean time stop suggesting that the things we hated to begin with are added back just to suit you. if you want a legitimate fight stop camping high traffic areas that will frequently spawn players that are just looking for some starter gear.

gee I just left a crash site and it was all helmets, handguns and ammo. there were no mags or attachments oh I did find a beret too. I have seen video from the crash sites from experimental that do show mags and attachments however so there is hope. in case ya haven't done it yet I highly recommend helicopter hunting. it takes you far from cover and concealment and leaves you well in reach of M4, AKM, Mosin and SKS. nothing like standing in the middle of a field feeling like a fly on a piece of typing paper... took almost 40 mins to get the courage to fast run that wide open space too.

I'll bite... I paid for a game that plays in 1pp and 3pp switchable, I would not have bought the game if it were only in 1pp I HATE fps games a la CoD, Bf4, etc. I play the game as a zombie survival sim, you know, the one they advertise on steam. one of the conditions of my purchase of the game was to be switchable from 1pp to 3pp, this was in fact the deciding point that allowed me to overlook the general state of the game's community overall - I avoid you people like the plague in the game and would be personally satisfied if it had a single player mode with a shit ton more zeds, but I digress... I am sure I am not alone in this as the server lists plainly show a preference toward "regular" game play. what if they were like me and 3pp was the decider? suppose there were no 3pp at all and the 75% of us that like it or prefer it didn't buy the game? do you suppose BIS would have made enough money to make the progress they have so far? having made the financial point... back to the community: I used to play on the hardcore servers too but I have read too many of these hateful threads against the 3pp people. I choose to now avoid the hardcore servers because I really don't want to play the game with you 1pp missionaries and all of your hate. please by all means keep the community divided.

this put coffee all over my monitor and keyboard, well played and beans to you sir. on topic: major agreement on special skins for bad guy/good guy, that's just wrong. telling lies is part of the game. I'm also not in favor of too much "realism" ie: shoe sizes, clothing sizes, every weapon caliber on the planet, actions like tying shoes/boots. I should note I would not be against taking a little longer to put on boots vs shoes if there were a real benefit to wearing boots vs shoes like less sound on some surfaces or runs a little faster on the road, etc..

very nice :) I love playin with road flares, its a shame that you can't see them from farther away tho, it would be cool to see artificial lights glowing over the horizon.
