Shadow, you can bring up the chat by pushing the "/" key (next to the right shift key).

Does everyone else die that much? I have only been playing for a week, tend to join relatively populated servers, and have only died 2 times. I don't actively look for PvP on the coast, but do a fair amount at the air bases and Cherno because it tends to find me. Is it normal to get killed a lot, even on max polulated servers i don't see that many people in the major areas.

You can also just look in your inventory to see what direction the compas is pointing. Helps when you are playing at night.

I've searched the new player area for info on this, but can't find an answer. When i use my right mouse button while having a weapon equiped my character just does the normal zoom, but will not utilize the optic/iron sights. In order to use my iron sight or optics i have to double click with the right mouse button and hold it. To resume normal view i have to double right click, hold the button down and then release. I have tried binding the right mouse button under weapons, but it still requires the double click and hold. Is there a way to bind the right mouse button to automatically use the iron sights or optic with a single right click and hold instead of the double click and hold? Thanks for the help!

Thank you all for the help. I was able to get it to work last night by defaulting the settings, deleting the default settings, and then redoing the right mouse button setting. Now it works with just one right click instead of the previous double right click and hold. Thanks again!

I haven't had any problems finding food so far, the only trouble is forgetting to eat before the "i'm hungry" comments pop up. I would head to construction sites and hospitals, they tend to have more food than you need.
