  1. Found my first drum mag... Had 3x 30 round mags... emptied them and got rid of 2. My assumption is with 75 rounds, no need to reload in 90% of fights or in prolonged fight probably would have time to just feed the drum more rounds. I am keeping a mag in a protector case just for damage back up. I have never had a gun/mag get ruined when in hands or slung on shoulder, so I figure risk of damage is pretty low and the capacity means I can do without other mags. Am I missing anything? I don't look for fights, I generally will avoid them if I can.

    New Derringer Shown!

Personally I agree with Grindstone... unless there is some special hide in your hands animation/mechanic to give it some sort of hidy tactical advantage... like maybe not showing up in inventory when people look (or something along those lines). One hit kill or something else etc. Then yes it practically is useless, sorry shouldn't say useless but as useful as a splitting axe (I would even debat a splitting axe is still more useful). Aka the second you find something better it goes out the window. I guess a crowbar would be a better example. Obviously role play or personal preference limitation players would find exception to this. Now if weapons are even MORE rare, while this would be one of the more common guns found then it would probably have more usefulness but even with the automatic weapon loot reduction they still aren't that rare.

Increase Chernarus size with the new engine.

Don't think running will be too much slower but I do see them adding exhaustion system where you can only run/sprint for very limited amounts of time and require rest between.

Any point of 2 drum mags?

I have pretty much decided I will only use the one drum mag. I tend to be a lone wolf out in the NW so any engagements are generally surprise and quick. Will see how it goes.
  5. True we need a super sports store like cabella's. Wonder if they could do cross promotion, sell advertising on the store signage in game. I would guess they would be more rare then rifles and handguns though.
  6. And a practiced shot, ranged, configured with a spotter. He even isn't that confident about it.

Are these weather effects a bit too much?

Menial work that takes up the time it rains on raining servers TODAY is not the kind of mechanic that will keep players. I think the devs have it right for the most part... Gun goes down in condition, clean it with a kit in 10 seconds... as stated I think it just rains too much when a server is "raining"... At least for the harsh soaked/cold status as they are.

Are these weather effects a bit too much?

I tend to agree harsher is better. yet I will point out that right now the weather is sort of weird... If it raining on a server it will be raining the whole time. If its sunny it will be sunny the whole time. I think night time in Dayz proved that using real time for stuff like night and I would say weather is not very conducive to a fun game. It would be much better if things were sped up and put into proper proportions to deal with the much shorter then real life game play session. Who wants to get stuck in a shack, have it stop raining... walk 100 feet and have to go back cause it started again. While realistic, its not fun. I agree with Sacha in that time sinks are not the solution. imo it should rain for 10 min and be not raining for a min of 1-2 hours afterwards. The rain should get you and your gear soaked if you choose to continue or not if you find shelter etc. Right now with the amount of rain, you pretty much have 2 choices on a cold server. Wear gorka or make fires every hour, I hate the fact the game pretty much makes me where something or something is so obviously better and useful in all situations. Hopefully the balance and tweaking will come... this is just the 2nd patch with weather.

yeah the manual feed 10 round is pretty nice for that.
  10. +1 Switching servers for any reason really is server hopping to some degree. Some reasons more acceptable then others. Timers won't prevent hopping, nothing really will outside of 1 char per server. Even then it will still happen. The key isn't to stop hopping directly... its to make it less desirable to do so. Some ideas Respawning loot (already have), I would think in 2-4 hours loot should respawn. Long enough to deter camping but short enough to do a long looping loot run (say that 5 times fast).Loot spawn rates/types adjusted for population. Prevent empty server looters by making loot almost worthless on empty servers. (or PvE based loot).Home servers... Maybe have a home server system where you can have 1 home server and certain type of loot can only be picked up on home servers.

Oh did not know about the reduced dex... will have to check that out.

i always die of starvation. i need help!

We totally need diarrhea... Could even use the bleeding animation but make it brown. Would be hilarious to hold someone up, then they fart and start to shit themselves. hmmm I wonder would having diarrhea in your pants ruin all the gear in your pants?

+100 I used to have a canteen or 2... in case of "emergencies". Never used them ever, dark green hydrated comes quick but there is water everywhere and as far as I know none of it can make you sick (yet). Other important tip... Your body can store much much more food in your body (aka eaten), then you can every carry on your person. Light green energized is triggered or shown at some low amount like 25% of the energy you can store. So keep eating even when light green energized. Eat til you stuffed always, even then I think you only throw up in 3rd stage of stuffed so first stage is fine to keep eating you are just pushing it a bit. Water or hydrated status is sort of the opposite. There is very little extra room from when you hit light green hydrated to when you hit the "hydrated ceiling" where water is just wasting stomach space. I tend to just spam water till stuffed when I hit dark green hydrated. Priorities canned food first... they also give you some water. So if you are constantly eating canned food you find, generally you won't need to actually drink that often. Cans of soda are plentiful and they give you energy and water. I will generally eat all canned food first, then start on the cans of soda til stuffed.
  15. Honestly if this were true I would be more worried then excited. That would mean most features and mechanics in game now are the final vision for the game. I would not be horribly excited about that. Though on another hand... they have reduced weapon spawns which is step in the right direction... would be nice if they radically reduced food spawns as well.

    Finally found a can opener...

Pre .49 it seemed I always had the best luck for can openers in either red brick pubs or military Jails.
  17. just learn how to run in a tight circle... You can do this for days and they will never hit you. Only time I have gotten hit is the crawler/jumpers, they seem to flip out and auto-jump in a circle too sometimes resulting in a hit.

    Heli crash sites

Wonder how far you can see the smoke... Thought I saw someone said the helo's are only viewable at about 1000m, and even if you use bino you won't see them unless they are "spawned" into view/area without them (even if just black dot).

    Finally found a can opener...

aaaaarrrrrrggggg... I hear ya... Haven't found a can opener yet post-49. I have a completed smersh vest/back pack, AKM, PSO1, 3 mags, full gorka, hunting, 357, ammo, couple morphines, flash and grenade. Honestly given that food is not rare I really don't care, I will take the food loss to save a space in my pack.

    Heli crash sites

Yes I found one the other day in a Mi-8 crash site. It was the site directly NW of Green Mountain in the open field (view-able from the green mountain forest). I have seen ALOT of screen shots of that location... Could be it spawns there more, or more people go through there and easier to find... guess we will never know (but thinking its the last).

Dying of hunger wayyyyy too often

Same here... pretty hard to starve. I find its pretty easy to find enough non-canned food to feed me until I find SOMETHING to open cans with.

    0.49 crashsites (& a few observations)

There used to be 70 sites, they removed all of the southern/balota ones... which brings it down to the low 60s I believe. Did not know there were only 3 car or heli spawns... Seems odd I haven't seen this anywhere else. I suppose it would account for the rarity lately. Did see someone say the cars don't seem random and there is always one in a certain location... but don't know much of anything about the cars.

    I am shaking...but!

Are you talking about the goofy temp/message variance that has occured since the weds .491 patch or has this been an issue since day 1? When .49 hit, gorka gear and a hat was all it took to be 100% weather proof. First day of .49 my char almost died due to hypothermia, fresh spawn locations were looted got hypothermia as I ran from town to town just trying to get a jacket (only to be soaked due to rain every 5 min). While I think I was close to death, my screen was getting grey, eventually I found some warmer clothes, hat etc and barely made it. My opinion is if its late fall in Chererus you would think people would at least have a hoodie or light jacket instead of t-shirt and jeans. The .491 patch hit and many people noticed chances, hard to track down, some people thought it was server or even by player glitch, maybe some season/weather settings? A server I played on consistently, I was instantly "cold" until today. Never died with gorka gear or got hypothermia status with hours of running around, just cold constantly. If you are complaining about the last path, I can understand. Either they changed something too aggressively or it is a odd bug which happens. Zombie Milkman has posted his opinion before and it basically comes down to they shouldn't implement anything until its 100% feature rich and be 100% authentic. If you buy into the "alpha" part of this game, then one can assume the weather and toon reaction to weather, clothing etc is just the basics and beginning. I don't know, the devs haven't come out and said they are done with weather, but I also haven't seen a road map or expectations for final product. The only thing I can tell you as a software engineer. You always set the simple building blocks first to ensure you base features function the way you expect. Keep it fairly simple, on/off, workie no workie. Then you expand, like with more robust clothes layers per se.

    0.49 crashsites (& a few observations)

They are there... I have been running the Green Mountain run... about 18 sites. Done it about 6-7 times and found 2 crash sites, both the mi-28. Found one smersh vest:) While statistically you should find one almost each run (18 locations out of 60 or so), but randomization doesn't have to be consistent.

Temperature effects are broken since hotfix

Or they are well aware what it takes and purposely choose to exaggerate the needs of the toon for balance, testing, or game reasons? Ok lets be "realistic". Do they set it so you only need one can of food every "real" 24 hours or your toon starts to die? People would be pissed, gotta hire a baby sitter for your toon when you go out of town for a week or two. Do they set it so you only need one can of food every in-game 24 hours? Is that time on current server, different server, what about restarts and time resets? 24 hours of gameplay? That would be either a huge hassle or very boring. You can certainly have opinions on how difficult/often/scarce items or practices need to be to be enjoyable for you or meet a certain game style, but its a faaaaaar reach in saying a GAME developer didn't consult blah blah blah expert because it doesn't match your experience exactly. They could have consulted Chuck Norris and decided gameplay was more fun to have to worry about eating more etc.
