Is there going to be a feature to tagg people as friendly?
TwinSpire replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
While I understand realism... The fact this is a digital game throws a bunch of realism out the window right from the start. Sometimes a gamy mechanic should exist to sufficiently fill the role of a realistic counter part that can't be literally translated into a game. I can recognize my friends form some distance even if they are wearing different cloths. There are many factors into human recognition many of which is not realistic to this game. Height, weight, strut etc etc etc Does that mean more characters customization need to be built and cloths? That is one possibility. Another could be a friend system which flags view-able friends in a certain range. Aka if they are behind a building you can't see the flag or if they are farther away then is reasonable. -
Server hopping has gotten worse. (actuall analysis, not a whine thread)
TwinSpire replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
How will loot respawn fix the issue? I am confused by this "solution" always being brought up. Are you not finding servers that reboot every 4 hours (or less), respawning loot? Or do you think respawning loot every 10 min is the solution? I personally think faster loot spawns would make rarity of anything a joke and pretty much foster a "meta-gaming" mentality vs a survival work with what you got one. I personally would rather see a larger time penalty for joining different servers. -
This is part of the reason the gear is a bit goofy... Military gear is for the most part better, holds more inventory. There really isn't a logical reason not to wear military gear. Yet many consider you a threat for using military gear. On the the otherhand, unless you are a packrat, you really don't need to maximize inventory. I do it everyone does, but is there really a reason for having 500 rounds for your M4... I doubt you will get into a firefight that lasts that long. Same reason as why would you require 4 60 round mags... chances are you really only need 2. etc etc. I will wear hoodies, they don't look as military but only has 2 slots less.

Loot respawns need to happen WITHOUT restart!
TwinSpire replied to Kukui's topic in General Discussion
I don't get why people think loot spawning is any different then server reboot spawning. The only difference imo is that you have to reconnect after a couple of min of getting booted. I have NEVER seen anyone that says loot spawning has to be in game to "fix it" EVER says what timeframe loot should spawn? Every 4 hours? What do you know most servers reboot every 4 hours now. Every hour? Well now people will probably camp. Loot spawning won't fix server hopping... never will cause the only way to do that is to spawn loot every 5 min then the loot spawn hop for ya. -
This is the best new game I've played in a year.
TwinSpire replied to Colemanw26's topic in General Discussion
My friends think I am crazy when I tell them I have a ton of fun looking in houses for food water and "stuff". When you say it out loud it sounds stupid but when you run into someone or see them (and not sure if they see you) it just is sooo much more of an experience then just a FPS. Your heart really races... When you are looting a rubble and hear out of no where "freeze" you flip out and spin in all directions... thinking wtf wtf wtf, where tf?... Then figure out there is nothing you really can do but freeze lol. -
Is Spy Infiltration wrong ethics/cheating
TwinSpire replied to Dragor69's topic in General Discussion
I am confused... You seem to convince yourself that what you do is ok because they kill bambi's who charge them with fists (which imo is a perfectly justified kill). Based on your description the clan doesn't seem to be a freshspawn KoS killer group (well unless they are but you failed to mention). imo you are playing like a douche, lower then even a bandit and a step below KOSer (cause they actually have to find people to kill). Not only are you just going around killing people but then you are basically using wall hack cheat via your friend. Now I could understand a bit more if your clans were warring or something interesting like that... but you are basically just trolling them for who knows what reason. Don't try to convince us what you are doing is ok... Just admit you are a troll and just want to kill people, any people, by any means necessary. Killing people is part of the game... but freaking trolling them multiple times is just douche. What did they do kick you in your vagina? -
If you like dying, come to BEREZINO.

OP douche or dick-head... DEBATE! -
When using the dayzdb.com map, I disable the low yield spots, they rarely if ever have loot (sheds etc). There are even some medium yield spots that don't spawn loot (red and green small house, at least I have never found any).

FPS Drops after 30 seconds then Game Freezes
TwinSpire replied to chysgoda's topic in General Discussion
Some are reporting that painting m4 parts will fix the FPS issue as well... but you do have to do it every play session it seems. -

Setting up own private standalone Server
TwinSpire replied to MuschelInBlau's topic in General Discussion
Possibly but I would expect (hope), that your private server would have its own hive/db. Go to a different server and you would get a new character. Your private server character could only be used on your private server. -

Increase the server-leaving time (after Helis eventually added)
TwinSpire replied to Chaingunfighter's topic in General Discussion
What ever I probably would stop playing if there were helicopters especially if they had weapons. Imo I like the vehicleless post-apocalypic theme where going somewhere is an adventure and not a trip to the corner store to fill up. -
Imo volume etc is just too complex and not really worth the effort. That said I could see certain items having multiple storage areas equating to "pockets". E.g. pants can hold 4 1x1 items. Cargo pants could hold 2 1x1 and 1 2x1 item. Though that is as far as I can see it going if that even.

Good story... So true the stories and "real" events are what make this game truely unique and fun. I got my first kill this morning... was strolling into a small town of Dolina. Very low pop server (2, including me). Trying to find some yellow protection cases. While I scoped out the town for a min or two from the tree line, figured the odds of running into the other player was remote. Almost to the first house and see the red streak run from a tree to a tree, then behind a fence... By the time I figured out it was a survivor he was pulling out an axe and ran away form the fence... plugged 15 m4 rounds in him, 5 of which into a bush his feet were sticking out of... Suffice to say I was a bit startled and nervous, lost my m4 each time before being able to use it... very jumpy with most of the gear I wanted. Afterwards I had a small amount of guilt, he only had an axe and I should have communicated... it just didn't occur to me in the moment... live (or die) and learn. The most "real" behavior I have had in any game.

Timer- where is the daytime/nighttime status?
TwinSpire replied to DirtyscumbagLith's topic in General Discussion
+1 It says the time of day on the server browser list... 8am (8:00) to about 5pm (17:00) is day light. Seems like they are going for realism, less light in winter? -
To those who dislike the new combat logging timer
TwinSpire replied to africanhungergames's topic in General Discussion
Agree but simple solution is you have to be seated... Then door opens, you have to get up, grab weapon... blah blah blah... That is more then enough time for you to get killed. -
i personally agree, there should be a timer a player can cancel. Now I understand the needs to counter combat loggers... There is room for a solution for all imo. Like you have to sit to logout, which then starts the timer. If you get up the timer is cancelled. This will allow people to defend themselves if a unsuspecting danger arrives AS WELL as requires going through the sit/stand animation leaving players vulnerable if they should log during a fight. I can't tell you how many times I thought I was "safe" and had a zed warp through a wall etc etc.

DayZ Standalone Mythbusters -- EP1
TwinSpire replied to DayzMythbusters's topic in General Discussion
good video... The see if weapon is loaded is a good one but could argue that for the FNX it really isn't realistically possible unless you happen to look over their shoulder in the particular angle in the video... Looks like the model overs up the mag opening. -
My two first deaths, Typical or neigh?
TwinSpire replied to ZombSage's topic in New Player Discussion
Yup pretty typical... Some will be friendly, some will just act friendly and kill you... while others will just snipe/KOS you randomly... Be careful and don't trust anyone... ever. -
Fists/melee weapons making bullet ricochet sounds
TwinSpire replied to infiltrator's topic in New Player Discussion
yeah its annoying... swinging an axe in a building produces the ricochet often. -
Yeah containers are a bit risky to put down, completely understand why you do it (see all slots etc). I have found some servers/times are a bit laggy, when they are I don't dare put something down. Symptoms of a "laggy" server (don't even know if its actual lag) I have noticed... When you right click an item in inventory and it says "receiving..." before showing the other options like eat/drink/load etc. If you can read it things are slow, should almost not see receiving on fast server. When you open a food item it takes a few seconds or you have to move an item in your pack for the open can to appear. When you drop an item it takes a few seconds to appear on the floor. Hit P before putting something down and make sure your not desyncing. I haven't seen inventory revert like you described but I have had a server restart on me as I was organizing... Honestly I try not to mess with them as much as I can, try and use them for specific purposes, tend to use mine for long term storage... limit interactions with the cases so to limit the mis-haps.

TrackIR (head tracking)... essential hardware!
TwinSpire replied to -MadTommy's topic in General Discussion
I find it interesting that you feel 3rd person view is an unfair advantage, yet at the same time have no issues nor view using add-on hardware/software as an unfair advantage. At least with regular servers/3rd person view everyone can use it without 3rd party hardware/software to install and setup. Don't get me wrong, my opinion is that track ir just gives a different interface for functionality already there (Aka same as if I got a 10 button mouse vs 2 button) and isn't wrong per se. Not acknowledging advantage when you technically have one is imo mis-leading yourself and what I found interesting in your comment.
