    Warning Shots

+1 If someone shot at me without any communication about warning, I would assume I was being hunted. Just like the quote above I would for sure plan on an engagement if I knew where the gunman was (or reasonably sure). If I had no clue, I probably would retreat, cover/watch my escape route for pursuer, then switch positions and attempt to engage the area again. I may retreat completely if I thought I was outgunned for any reason, or if I was pretty much done looting...

What vehicles would you like to see in DayZ?

Here is a car for when they add pooping...

Why are you against many military items in game?

The main reason why I am against military loot is in games it is a slippery slope to a military pvp fps mmo... we are already seeing it. The military loot is the meta game, more inventory space, more bullets/capacity/rate of fire. Continue down the military road and you have little birds and c4 charges, LMG, NVG, heat scopes. imo it just can't be balanced in a "survival horror game" properly. You either make them soo difficult to find/maintain its pointless and no one will even use them. Or they are too common OP and hinders the survival aspect of the game and turns it into what we see now mostly pvp idiocy in elecktro. imo people are just unrealistic... batteries for anything like NVG are probably long dead they don't keep forever. Lets forget about the % of the population that would even know how to repair maintain tech, vehicles especially helicopters. Or even how stuff will corroed quickly without temp controlled buildings (that haven't been looted a year ago). While yes having some timeframe would be nice... if this was 2 years after "Z-day" I doubt you would find anything of use at any store or military base. Even a year... those are the first places people would go to loot. Some previous poster thought it would be cake just to walk to the gun shop and get "armed up"... but he forget about the gang with trucks loading up EVERYTHING shooting his ass as he got near with everyone running around looting. I can see small automatic arms like AKs and M4s but ammo should be scarce AND there should be wear on your weapons... so many shots you loose condition and chance of breakage. imo everyone should prefer to NOT use guns because the cost is so great you only fire as last resort...

Been killed twice by hackers in the last 48 hours

I suggest you search youtube... not hard dayz standalone teleport they do exist, I even remember a lengthy video where a guy with an axe was trying to kill a teleporter and he just laughed and laughed as he teleported 20 times all caught on youtube vid.

why are people doing this ?

Funny thing... I told my non-gamer friend about Dayz and how oddly fun it was to even just loot for food... He asked if there was a real penalty when dead like you couldn't play again for a day. If there is a 5 min timer for joining servers too soon, shouldn't there be a timer for getting yourself killed?

Been killed twice by hackers in the last 48 hours

Big deal I have been hacked by killers 3 times today.
  8. I would agree if "Hear Attacks" are some random thing... But it if fits with other mechanics already spoken about... Where if you do one thing you risk the other. Eat rotten fruit due to starvation you could get sick. You run for a 1/2 mile then get shot, loose x blood... heart attack. Always soaked and no rain gear... get sick. As long as there is a fairly specific way to get the effect and a way to resolve the effect then I have no problem. Yes having to take a dump is a bit too realistic imo. Also if you only ate cereal you have higher risk of heart attack... that is imo getting a bit too complicated.
  9. While I like his intentions for limiting various items, like military weapons.. I can't really see a static limit on quantity approach working. What happens when a clan manages to collect 50% of the stock? I can just see it, grab every m4 you find and just sock it away if anything just to limit someone else from gaining them. What happens when players who have said items quit playing before dying? While there might be solutions to the above, I am willing to bet they are more complicated then just having an extremely low respawn rate. Some other options include degradation of both arms and bullets, chance of breakage. Combined with even more reduction in ammo spawns. Finding a coupled mag should be rare, finding one with 60 fire-able rounds should be impossible. If ammo was extremely rare and there was a chance your gun would break with each shot, people would be waaaaaay more selective in usage.

Why the dayz formula will ultimately fail

I could argue the game can never fail. I would argue it already has succeeded before release. It has been on the top of the steam sales list for a number of days. I completely agree they need to fix what all evidence so far shows is a bug... loot not spawning in various/some buildings. As for the rest of the map, perfectly viable... I would argue that most players truely stuck in elektro will not last and really isn't the player this game seems to be catering to.

    Should NV/IR be implemented?

dunno night vision is a highly technical piece of technology... I highly doubt once broken they could EVER be fixed in a "real" apocalypse setting. How rare would be rare enough? With loot farmers, multiple ways to dupe etc imo it is just an item that is not needed and more trouble then it is worth. Just my opinion but NV is not a solution to night issues. While I respect the idea of "realism", this is an area where I think it hinders the game. Well especially right now where a lot of servers run GMT. If I get up and game 3am to 6am or so I can actually play during the "day". Really hope more servers adopt timezones at least. Ether make it semi decent to see at night (not as good as gama, but not as bad now), or reduce the day/night cycle to something where you can either wait it out and do something reasonable/worthwhile (rest/sleep, inventory tetris, craft etc). If you wanted to be a realist... most proper survival people wouldn't dare try to fully operate at night unless they absolutely have to. Way too dangerous just walking, could twist/sprain an ankle etc. NV goggles ultimately is a piece of technology that doesn't really have much a place in post-apocalyptic setting. It would just be another step to making a plain jane Battlefield mmo.

    Pants constantly ruined..

Haven't noticed my pants changing condition (have had them for a few days). Though I have had my legs instantly broken during a server reboot, I think I was sprinting when it went down and when I logged back in, red flash and broken leg (with ruined pants).

    Map Balance

Personally I like that loot isn't spawning in tents... There did just seem to be too much loot in one place. Where as now you have to hit all the bases a few times to get completely kitted out. Heck I just hit NW, Vybor, Zelenogorks, Pavlovo Military base and Green Mountain all on a freshly booted empty server. Not one single m4, a couple of stock m4 parts. Nothing "really useful" for a fairly well kitted out player. In my opinion this is how looting should be. If you want to "camp" a spot you might as well login every couple of hours... Or you can travel around the map.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

They could also add more guns for heros... Instantly shirt bambis from a 1000ft range

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

I personally would agree with vehicles on roads comment. IMO they vehicles should have HUGE penalties for going off road, risk of damage etc. This would imo make the benefits of vehicles more counter-able and risky.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

Sorry but in my opinion you are trying to make Dayz into something else. On the steam description of the game "DayZ is a gritty, authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game, in which players follow a single goal: to survive in the harsh post-apocalyptic landscape as long as they can." It is a survival horror game... not a "perform operations" or "Do things in military or PMC style" game. At some point a game has to be what it is, both your opinion and mine conflict in such a way that DayZ literally CAN'T be as open to "room for many playstyles". The only way it could would be to split off... DayZ Survival, DayZ Military etc. A game can't be everyting to everyone. If the Devs want to do military stuff like the mod, that is their right. I will just stop playing that is all.

    Let's talk about heavy weapons

As a player the only real thing I can do is voice my opinion and vote with my play. If heavy weapons and vehicles are added to the game I will just stop playing. Dayz appeals to me because it is at its core survival (though more survival needs to be added, I had more fun when almost starving trying to get to the next town). All the videos I have seen of Dayz Mod didn't look like survival at all. If I wanted a military based game there are tons of other options that give me that. Dayz gives me the fear of starving, fear of strangers not the fear of an attack helicopter. Back in the day I played SWG MMORPG, imo it was vastly more challenging before they added vehicles. I spent most of my game play running to the furthest corners of the planets to mine the best materials... Due to the mobility issues that gave me purpose on the server and I became a successful materials merchant and I had fun doing it while others had fun doing other things. The moment vehicles were introduced everyone threw up mining equipment and my job became worthless and not nearly as rewarding. I prided myself going through the work to find the best mining locations for the best materials... I fear even vehicles will do the same to dayz, part of the struggle is moving from location to location on the map, you get rid of that struggle and the game is just that much easier.

So where ist the loot respawn?

Sort of sick of hearing cries for loot respawn. Apparently this one simple feaure will eliminate server hoppers, KOS, and bring world peace. The only thing loot respawn will do it reduce the need for the server reboots and thus the horrible inconvenience (sarcasm) of having to reconnect to a server. If you actually mean a new dynamic blah blah blah loot system, fine then say so. Though imo what a waste of dev time, they just need to fix spawn locations and tweak % and where some stuff spawns. If you wish that loot will respawn every 10 min, to 1 hour etc gtfo cause then we may as well have microtransactions and buy our gear cause it won't be a survival game anymore. Go to servers that reboot every 4 hours... oh wait pretty much everyone does except for experimental ones.
  20. I am friendly and wear pretty much all camo. 1. Don't want to be an easy target for non-friendly. 2. Camo stuff pretty much holds the most gear. Yes I wear cargo pants if I can but at that point does it matter?
  21. Make sense... What happens is news gets out that it is a dangerous place to go. People looking for danger/deathmatch go to the closer locations of Electro etc. Add also the fact that there are a lot more military bases... NE used to be touted as the one to go to since everyone went to NW... Guess what now everyone goes to NE AF. (helps spawns are now closer). Basically rumor and common knowledge always "lag" behind reality. People avoid NW AF because everyone says it is dangerous (I have never been there yet), and now no one goes there. NE is known as being the Quiet AF, yet every-time I go there I run into people... It is just like American Cars... lots of people say they suck and break down... all from past common knowledge. Yet in the last 5 years or so many American cars reliability rating are as good or better then commonly known reliable foreign companies.

    Do people still server hop?

True but I assume the devs are no where near implementing a whole new "balanced" based on previous/historical loot system. Honestly it sounds too complex compared to spawning loot every couple of hours (2-4 I would guess) and increasing the locations that spawn these high value loot items + reducing spawn % + increasing similar function items.
  23. TwinSpire

    Do people still server hop?

More and more of this respawning loot business... Unless your idea of repawning loot is every 10 min then respawning loot as NOTHING to do with server hopping. IF you think loot should spawn every 10 min, then I don't want to play your game cause it won't be a survival game anymore. Why would a person NOT server hop if it takes more time to wait for respawn or run to the next high value loot spot. It is a numbers game... As someone has mentioned to really stop server hopping you almost have to have private hives but this isn't as big as a traditional mmo and the servers probably could not handle the numbers requires to force single server characters. Other options to solve the problem would be to reduce the productivity of spots that are commonly hopped. Spread loot around more, rather then having high concentration. Another solution would be to spawn loot based on population, good loot more likely to spawn at higher populations which then concentrates good loot in areas of even higher risk then jumping on empty servers.
