Personally I agree with Grindstone... unless there is some special hide in your hands animation/mechanic to give it some sort of hidy tactical advantage... like maybe not showing up in inventory when people look (or something along those lines). One hit kill or something else etc. Then yes it practically is useless, sorry shouldn't say useless but as useful as a splitting axe (I would even debat a splitting axe is still more useful). Aka the second you find something better it goes out the window. I guess a crowbar would be a better example. Obviously role play or personal preference limitation players would find exception to this. Now if weapons are even MORE rare, while this would be one of the more common guns found then it would probably have more usefulness but even with the automatic weapon loot reduction they still aren't that rare.

Increase Chernarus size with the new engine.

Don't think running will be too much slower but I do see them adding exhaustion system where you can only run/sprint for very limited amounts of time and require rest between. -
I have pretty much decided I will only use the one drum mag. I tend to be a lone wolf out in the NW so any engagements are generally surprise and quick. Will see how it goes.

the bow is terrible at anything longer than melee range

True we need a super sports store like cabella's. Wonder if they could do cross promotion, sell advertising on the store signage in game. I would guess they would be more rare then rifles and handguns though. -

And a practiced shot, ranged, configured with a spotter. He even isn't that confident about it. -
Are these weather effects a bit too much?

Menial work that takes up the time it rains on raining servers TODAY is not the kind of mechanic that will keep players. I think the devs have it right for the most part... Gun goes down in condition, clean it with a kit in 10 seconds... as stated I think it just rains too much when a server is "raining"... At least for the harsh soaked/cold status as they are. -

I tend to agree harsher is better. yet I will point out that right now the weather is sort of weird... If it raining on a server it will be raining the whole time. If its sunny it will be sunny the whole time. I think night time in Dayz proved that using real time for stuff like night and I would say weather is not very conducive to a fun game. It would be much better if things were sped up and put into proper proportions to deal with the much shorter then real life game play session. Who wants to get stuck in a shack, have it stop raining... walk 100 feet and have to go back cause it started again. While realistic, its not fun. I agree with Sacha in that time sinks are not the solution. imo it should rain for 10 min and be not raining for a min of 1-2 hours afterwards. The rain should get you and your gear soaked if you choose to continue or not if you find shelter etc. Right now with the amount of rain, you pretty much have 2 choices on a cold server. Wear gorka or make fires every hour, I hate the fact the game pretty much makes me where something or something is so obviously better and useful in all situations. Hopefully the balance and tweaking will come... this is just the 2nd patch with weather. -
yeah the manual feed 10 round is pretty nice for that.

Will DayZ reach Beta or at least have the most wanted features in by the end of this year / beginning of next year.

+1 Switching servers for any reason really is server hopping to some degree. Some reasons more acceptable then others. Timers won't prevent hopping, nothing really will outside of 1 char per server. Even then it will still happen. The key isn't to stop hopping directly... its to make it less desirable to do so. Some ideas Respawning loot (already have), I would think in 2-4 hours loot should respawn. Long enough to deter camping but short enough to do a long looping loot run (say that 5 times fast).Loot spawn rates/types adjusted for population. Prevent empty server looters by making loot almost worthless on empty servers. (or PvE based loot).Home servers... Maybe have a home server system where you can have 1 home server and certain type of loot can only be picked up on home servers. -
Oh did not know about the reduced dex... will have to check that out.

Found my first drum mag... Had 3x 30 round mags... emptied them and got rid of 2. My assumption is with 75 rounds, no need to reload in 90% of fights or in prolonged fight probably would have time to just feed the drum more rounds. I am keeping a mag in a protector case just for damage back up. I have never had a gun/mag get ruined when in hands or slung on shoulder, so I figure risk of damage is pretty low and the capacity means I can do without other mags. Am I missing anything? I don't look for fights, I generally will avoid them if I can.

We totally need diarrhea... Could even use the bleeding animation but make it brown. Would be hilarious to hold someone up, then they fart and start to shit themselves. hmmm I wonder would having diarrhea in your pants ruin all the gear in your pants? -

+100 I used to have a canteen or 2... in case of "emergencies". Never used them ever, dark green hydrated comes quick but there is water everywhere and as far as I know none of it can make you sick (yet). Other important tip... Your body can store much much more food in your body (aka eaten), then you can every carry on your person. Light green energized is triggered or shown at some low amount like 25% of the energy you can store. So keep eating even when light green energized. Eat til you stuffed always, even then I think you only throw up in 3rd stage of stuffed so first stage is fine to keep eating you are just pushing it a bit. Water or hydrated status is sort of the opposite. There is very little extra room from when you hit light green hydrated to when you hit the "hydrated ceiling" where water is just wasting stomach space. I tend to just spam water till stuffed when I hit dark green hydrated. Priorities canned food first... they also give you some water. So if you are constantly eating canned food you find, generally you won't need to actually drink that often. Cans of soda are plentiful and they give you energy and water. I will generally eat all canned food first, then start on the cans of soda til stuffed. -

Honestly if this were true I would be more worried then excited. That would mean most features and mechanics in game now are the final vision for the game. I would not be horribly excited about that. Though on another hand... they have reduced weapon spawns which is step in the right direction... would be nice if they radically reduced food spawns as well.
