    Problems with current state

    To me it sounds like you are new to the game. Your not really discribing tech issues here or any thing new, or what I consider to be the main problems with dayz currently. When I was playing allot in .53 and part of .54 I had one main CHR on 3pp. No deaths. It took me quite a while to get set up to my liking. But basic civ loot is every were. There are newer towns that dont even have zombies....there is. The reality is you could surivive for months just hanging out by Novaya. Theres shit every where there. The real problem with dayz is the game is of out of balance (there should be less loot more survival mechanics and items), persistants just kind of works, trucks are crude with death bugs and the zombies are all dicked up (but there atleast easy to kill). Thats the real issues right now. Oh then there connection and ping related issues that can be can be managed. So yes there are some serous issues with the game that people should be aware of, so atleast the can enjoy the game at its current state. I dont blame anyone for not wanting to put up with it or deciding just to wait....I mean come on. But complaining allot of time falls on deaf ears, becuase this aplha.......then beta......then release. Were talking like over a year before its even close to release.....lol .........Man oh man.....early access............really starting to wonder about the consept of of all these half finished early access on steam. I mean god dam, like we really have any say so in how the game is going to turn out. Dayz devs have a plan and there going to do it, really the only they care about is about is us finding bugs, and playing the early access.....testing it....buying units. Its called we dont want to hire testers, so we will make the player base pay for the game and test it.....Dont think we dont know that. Its not just dayz either. People really starting to wake up to this steam early access trend and are getting a little bit sick of it. Its not like one or two games....its quite a few of them. Thats the real issues.

    How do you solve the heating problem with ghillie?

    I havnt played in prob 2 weeks, but my 3pp avatar has a ghillie suit. Even if you carry the top in a back pack it heats you up faster. When you were it its like walking a tight rope with body temp. If you are dry and you put it in you will go from norm to hot. Theres really no getting around it if your dry and norm temp. So the really the only way around it is to get wet. By becoming soaked, it will cool you off. Dont keep soaking your self. Just keep going til you become dry and it says you are warming up rapidly then do it again. Or you will become cold. It kind of has to be done in moderation. I would jog, and only sprint to cross wide open spaces like feilds, if I had too. I carried a rope and berlap on me too. So If I became hot or over heated I could craft a improvised back pack to put my top in. You really have to becareful with that suit. You can fuck your self over pretty easy. One of the problems with dayz right now. Is persistants kind of works at best....its wishy washy. I have even lost items by putting them on the ground I cant even count how many times I put items on the ground just for them to go into the either. Even building fires can sometimes takes a couple attempts, because a log goes away ect ect. Let alone leaving something on a server over night. My point is if you really want to have the ghillie suit you have to be completly prepared to give up some things. You cant relly on stashing stuff....it works sometimes sometimes not. Sometimes you cant even relly on putting things on the ground. So what you have on you has to be well thought out, and its never enough. I found most of the time I had the suit on I was more concerned with keeping my avatar healthy, and cool, then camping a hill. In fact I never wanted to stay in one place too long. This is coming from someone who plays solo and has done over watch almost the entire time I have been playing. What is ideal is to have a back pack to put it in to cover long distances. Were you going to put it though? You could roll the dice and hope that you can stash it on a persist server, maybe it will still be there when you log in. But In my exp, thats really wishy washy. Infact the whole game is wishy washy right now. The game is still developing and certain things that you would think should work dont. Basiclly its probably going to be a while before you can really have a ghillie suit and thrive, be able to have kind of a sniper hide to stash stuff....you cant do that yet....or at least not relly on it working. Really right now your prob better off just having the gun rap and hood, not even even bothering with the suit or top. Unless you really just want the challenge of being a minamallist. Its kind of wait and see what happens in upcoming patches. I think I might be better off just waiting til the game is close to beta then playing it. Dont get me wrong it isn't all bad, I have had people run like 2 feet away from me and not even know I was there. In a KOS area. If you got it painted and lay down in a tree line you are invis almost. You better have an eagle eye. An option that would work is to a have a team. Have players provide support for the person wearing the suit. Carrying ammo and so forth. Almost like a pit crew. But you know how dayz is, that can be like hearding cats haha...

    I could see that being fun on private shards. I dabbled in private shards and public servers. There is something about only having a avatar that can stay on only one server that adds realism. Server hooping simply does not exist. Persistants is what really needs to get going. I mean really at best now its a week you can kind of store something...kind off. I know its coming. It will really make private shards into there own worlds, you could have a clan war over resources. Or what ever you wanted. A real surival game like your saying. Public servers......I am not sure about or how it would work. I def know later on down the the road when presistants really does work. I will probably play on privates shards mostly.

    That is true, Surival is too easy, for most its why bother hunting when you can just search a couple houses for food. Dont get me wrong I want more surival mechanics. Thats a good point, the game is not balanced to be a surival sim. Sure if you wanted to one could completly survive off the land. But it is time consuming, and most players will not do it becuase there is food in towns and citys. I agree there needs to be some tweaking of the game. There really is just too much loot laying around. Those "PvP-fuckfest" players are also really predictible for the most part. They almost have a sheep like mantality, they copy each other. Look at cherno. Almost every time I have been there on packed servers. Snipers are easy to find, there always atop those factory towers, or apt buildings. Players....well just check the fire house or the police stations lol sure to be some ass hat in there. Ass hats always gravitate towards to tech building or hospitals too......LOL They are not tactical what so ever. If they were they would know urban warfare, is really not at all ideal. Its a death trap. But what ever. I am kind of sick of it, I am really to point were I just want to wait and see, not even play that often. I am optimistic sometimes. Maybe I should just sit back and watch, the development run its course. Sit it out for a while. I hope it ends up like your saying and they do turn up the heat on the surival side, tone back the loot. I want it to be a really gritty surival game 1st and mainly. Were pvp is something have to do out of survival. Not this instant grad crap it is now. I do want to see more survival mechanics added, there needs to be more incentive for players to really want to use them...hense lowering the amount of loot.

    I’m have got to the point in my SA player life were I have taken break and I’m really questioning, what is this game really about anyways? DayZ fancy’s itself a post epoc zombie sim. It by def is a game was goal is to survive; it’s about self-preservation and group preservation. To stay alive and endure............Right? But when I play dayz, more so in groups. Survival seems to be very much on the back burner. About 90 % of players I have played with survival is secondary. Really it’s just gear up, then pop for a quick thrill then die. Most players don’t take the game that serous really even care. I have known of players being cold or having a pretty serious problem with their avatars, and not even do anything about it. Or they will simply kills themselves. I notice players don’t fish that often, don’t hunt, only really build fires if they have too ect ect. It’s the truth. When I play I play to survive. I play like I am surviving an apoc. I play to keep my avatar alive as long as possible, but when I play group it always seems I am in the minority. If your a surivalist YOU are in the minority. I get the whole " don’t be afraid to die, or don’t get attached to your gear" broken record. To me that is an excuse not to play the game the way it was intended, and revert to playing it more like COD or counter strike. I have been ridiculed for surviving long periods by people. Like I am playing wrong because I survive much longer then average and I play on the same servers they do lol so who really playing the game right? You know whats Fed up, survivalist players in some cases probably have a much better pvp kill ratio the instant grad player do. The reason I bring this up is why bother? For most players they could care less about it. It’s true. They just want to run around and shot things in a somewhat believable world. They don t want more complex survival mechanics, they want more action. The majority of players play exclusively to pvp and pvp is the end game. They want to fight other players. So you going to add more survival items. You want to know something. When they added leather close, I saw no one in game and I mean no one bother to craft a vest, or any other item. I did, but it seems like no one else gave a crap. Thats just from my prospective. So you you’re going to add more items, that most players won’t use? It’s true. Were is this game really heading?....lets be real.... Heres the thing day z is a was intended to be a nitch game, but it is not anymore. It’s a mainstream game played by mainstream players now. They play it like a mainstream shooter. They find survival type stuff to be time consuming and boring.
  8. I had most weird zombie issues on high ping glitchy servers. You know were they can hit you from 10 feet away or ruin your gear with one strike. I noticed when I play on lower ping servers the zombies still go through walls but there is less of the other issues. I think maybe on the reason is on high ping servers, the server it self maybe sees it that you got hit more then once, but from your end you saw them hit from 10 feet away and ruin your gear....I think its connection related, and ping realated when that happens. Thats my theory. I could be wrong. But in the past playing on 70 ping and below servers I dont see as many glitches with mechanics, of cource minus the known issues. If that makes since. Its the same thing when you playing grouped, and you see your freind stuck in a animation. Dsync and all that other crap that happens. What you see might not be what everyone else see..... This game is wonky though. Its in alpha state, which is a part of dev that most of the time your avarage player dosn't even see with most games. Its this new fad of early access, which I am begining to wonder is even a good idea anymore. So many people just have a really rough idea of what that mean. Why not just finish the game 1st then release it. LOL I mean like I we have any say so what so ever in how its going to end up. The devs already know what there going to do.
  9. I just stoped by to read some of the .55 notes and happened to notice your post. Zombies have been kind of on my radar lately regards to this game, becuase of the upcoming changes to them. I am watching the .55 changes, to determine wether I even feel like investing any time in the SA or just to wait a while. Currenlty .54 stable and before the zombies really only had one major update that I know of. They are crude, and do not work correctly. The good news is there vary predictible and once you learn why there fairly easy to deal with once you learn why. 1) I expect them to go through walls and behave fucked up. This is big, they can go through walls you cant. So the best thing to do is get them out in the open. Kill them in the open. 2) Circle them they are slow, they raise both arms up to strike, and its pretty easy to dodge by circling. Simply hit them with a fire axe or or ice pick and it should only take one hit. Military zombies 2. There easy to kill. 3) Log in and out in the woods far away from were they are. You can log out and be attacked by them still for 30 seconds. 4) Make sure your on a lower ping server like 70 or below. 5) In your case make sure that the area is clear before drinking. The drinking mechanics, are crude in this game and sometimes hard to make stop or cancel once it starts the animation. Its croky, and kind of wishy washy. Best thing to do is just not drinky unless the area is clear. Its a game flaw. You know I used to just bash people who had problems like yours..."why you drinking out in the open for dumb ass" ect ect. How do should you know. I dont give a shit about the SA that much anymore so I will tell you a secret. About 70 % of playing this isn't how well your survival skill are our how good your manly instincts are. I know allot of players like to think so.....lol Its how well you understand the mechanics, and whats broken and whats not. The dev log and patch notes say allot, and you kind have to see what other players are saying is dicked up. Or how to get around issues. Its soo true.

    Afraid isn't the word for it, its more of I dont feel like dealing with bugs and broken mechanics period. So dont try baiting. DayZ is a time sink to play, at least for me. I spent allot of time playing. I dont feel like wasting hours playing just to deal with broken mechanics that are game killers. Its alpha...I am aware its not going to be prefect. Im a vary busy preson in RL and really my free time has allot of value to me. I'll have a look at the exp videos. .54 and before, the zombies do not work correctly and yes the can be agroes with out them even seeing you. There easy to deal with them. But hoards...no. Did I speak to soon...maybe. If indeed .55 does have new mechanics for the zombies, that work well, that will be a big much needed positive step for the game. But I am becoming disillusioned with the game in genenral. I havnt even logged in prob a week and a half, maybe on played 2 or 3 times this month. So the way I look at it if the game is playable and has some new features that strike my interest, I'll have a gander and play a bit. But I have decided, that maybe dayz for me (speaking only for my self) isn't really worth putting a ton of time into like I have been. I really feel like Im missing out on some of the other games I have. OK.......I will tell the truth...you know what caused my interest to sink to new levels. Was hearing what dean hall had to say recently, were stated his reasons for selling dayz. It was so wishy washy. Left allot of question marks in my mind. It really did. I did gain a kind of respect for him too....for being honest...but it left me thinking were is this whole thing going.....So really it isnt just about zombies, it kind of a combination of things latly....you know that feeling you get, when you start really questioning something.

    Well I bought the game. So as long there is forward progress I feel like I simply wait and watch if I want. I am glad to see zombie AI is finally getting attention. They need it. I'll have check out day z tv and catch up.

    So...zombie AI is finally getting addressed. That is good. I have been in wait and see mode because I was a little disillusioned with the .54 and everything else. Not pissed off though. Just burnt out and ready need a break. Are hoards' getting added too? Here's my 2 cents. I believe they should be added after zombies are fixed. When they work well. Then add the hoards in a realistic manor. That would be cool to see. My concern is they will be added in buggy. That's not going to be good. Just the thought of having 20 bugged out zombies chasing me around causes me to wamnt to play other games in my collection. Just sayin

    Sway in current day z is way over done. I have been around fire arms my hole life, and was in the military. I will tell you that from my prospective sway is no where near that bad lol. But there is factors too. Like holding breath bone support, using a sling for added support ECT ECT to drastically cut down on sway in rl. Day Z SA is not realistic at all. Its loosely based on reality, sort of a warped reality. In fact I would say it shouldn't be used for educational proposes what so ever. There's to many things that don't reflect reality even minus the zombies. That's why sometimes I have a hard time getting the "purists" in game. Purists to what?     PvP is not going to change with hoards, I will say this again. The reason for KOS is there is no acountabilty for players, or any rules in game. What do you think players are going to do? Man people dont care who they shoot in game. Its going to remain that way mark my words. All the zombie hoards are going to do is provide another thing to really worry about in game. Thats it. I played in 3 different clans now and played solo, one thing I noticed is all groups are kind of the same. Most players I met playing this game there end game was pvp. Even in the hero clan I belonged to when I 1st started, they set out to pvp. Really the heroing was more of a lure to get bandits to come out then anything. Thats not going away. Im really sorry to say, Im begining to lose interest and faith fast. Between the .54 stable being released basicly broken, now rushing out zombie hoards, filled with broken zombies I think its enough to make me not want to play anylonger. Only a small % takes suriving that serous, most just want quick instant grad pvp. Then die and do it again. That process is going to speed up even faster now. I took a week or so off from the DayZ SA during the whole cluster fuck with .54 release. While I left the game, I really could not help to think, why do I spend so much time playing dayz anyways. I mastered surviving...theres nothing more to learn other then bs. Theres nothing to gain from it. I came back and played it for 3 day.....Im just plain sick of it. Its always the same thing, and its pointless. I have done everything you can do. I have nothing to prove to anyone or my self in game. I was already close to just quiting. But man hearing this shit really put the final nail in the coffin. Hearing the hard core this and that bull shit......typical. This game is starting to seem aimless.

    I got this gut feeling that the SA is going to going through some uncharted buggy waters, filled with crappy game play and QQ. To be honest just the thought of 100s of existing AI mechanics zombies running around in a hoard is enough to make not want to play. Jesus that will be awful. Right now I can run 100 meters away from a town, and get zombie agro. They dont even half to see you and they will agro. 1 or 2 is not that bad....pretty easy really. 3 you might have to take a couple hits, but you will live. Now Fast foward to hoards added........ 20 eagle eyed broken ass SA zombies.....you know the onces that sometimes can hit you from 10 feet away...not one but 20......Just think about that for a second...lol....man you better run, and I mean like a 3rd of the way across the map to get them off of you. Your not going to be able to fight them off. Even if you did, your CHR will be all fucked up, like broken lims ruined gear....not even worth continueing. Better really watch were you log in and out at. Better have an ak with a 70 round drum. Sounds pretty shitty to me.....Being a fresh spawn....man that would suck lol When the PC GTA 5 coming out again? Pre ordered that shit :thumbsup: Man Im close to being done with the SA for a while....just not feeling it....starting to lose my interest.

    Not to harp to much. But again the zombies currently are fairly crude, and the mechanics really don't work that well for them. I think if they were to add hoards of them in there current state next patch, I probably will not play til they get the mechanics working right. Sounds like a bad patch and a cluster f. I already have put the game on the back burner because of the stable .54 issues...sure there was a hot fix. I may just go into wait and see mode, cause I really don't feel like dealing with hundreds of broken zombies. Its not that Im mad I just have no patience for it. I'll just wait and watch.

    I have played the game allot and know that the zombies do not work right. Infact I can almost predict what they are going to do and how best to deal with them..Its not that bad...All you to do is be like 100 feet and they agro though. Dosnt matter if your in there line of sight or not. It dosnt take much, they also can go through walls, doors up stairs ect ect. With 10 or 15 of them your prob not going to live through it, unless you run and run. It will be a cluster F if the zombie AI is not corrected 1st. It just will. Dosnt sound like much fun to me.

    Just not sure what to think of all this. .54 was released with some major problems. Theres some issues with dayz as it is. Lets face it theres allot of wonky mechanics in game. Why not fix the zombies and get them working currectly 1st. Get some of the existing mechanics working more smoothly 1st. Then do the hoards. I sometimes thing the devs are rushing out patches to quickly as of late. I dont want to sound like a nay sayer, but I can see this causing even worse issues. I hate to say this but it almost seems like its heading down a path of a another even worse patch.....

    I think if zombie AI is still the same and the mechanics, with hoards I can see this resulting in a masive amount of QQ. I am 100% sure of that. There vis range is pretty high right now, and with 10 or 15 of them at once, thats going to be hard to deal with. Even for a more exp player. I think the fear will shift from encountering other players to both players and zombies at the min. Just think if you went on a bad server with high ping, it would be pretty bad to say the least. I hope they correct some of the mechanics 1st. As far as player interaction goes, I think the route cause of "KOS" and shitty player behavor is the fact there is no acountibilty in game at all. I dont think it would change. Most players are well aware this is just a game, and by shooting someone your not really hurting anyone other then pride. There reallly no insentive to be nice other to someone other just to RP as a hero. In fact I could see the hoards to ones advantage maybe. I predict at 1st it might not go over well, but patches and zombie AI could fix it. So I predict some growing pains for sure. But at the end of the day it is needed, seeing this is a zombie epoc sim.

    I think if I ever got to the point were I felt I need to dup or cheat, I would just stop playing. It complelty defeats the perpose of dayz. Its ment to be a "hardcore surivival game". By design your objective is to survive. Wether pvping, looting, hunting, crafting ect ect. Its not ment to be easy, the fun is the challenge of that. Duping gear and cheating is not only wrecking the way the game was designed to be played, your also ruining or tainting other peoples game play. Hoarding......I dont do it. But in way testing persistants probably helps out the game in the long run. So like I said its a double edged sword. My feeling is I dont care if thats how you play, I just dont do it my self.

    For me I normally go into a new life with a plan, or want kind of config I want to have on my avatar. Example in .53 stable and .52 I went with sort of a wookie survivalist type build. I then loot til I get close to what I want then stop. If some of my gear is ruined or something or I simply need food, I will then loot again, to get what I need then stop. The reason I dont over loot is beacuse is simply becuase its a dangerous activity in dayz to loot in say a military base. Or in a city on a higher pop server. Even though you may think your good, you putting your self in a level of risk and without knowing lowering your guard. Becuase your focus shifts to looking for items vs scaning and paying attention to other players. At least in my case. In fact almost every time I have died in dayz it has been inside of military bases, or inside populated citys. I found by just going after the kit then avoid high loot drop areas, or be on the outside looking in, I have cut down drasticly on my own avatar dieing and have got the drop on other players with out them knowing Im there. It works super well for me playing that way. I have more of a pvp advantage and survive much longer that way. Before last wipe I had a avatar alive on 3pp for 2.5 months, my shortest life was 3 days on a 1pp, that was becuase of playing just for the sake of pvping. .53 I have not died once on 3pp. I haven't played .54 stable yet. I think being a hoarder can get you shot. Even on low pops. I know for a fact there are players that camp military bases and hunt server hopers. Its true. But in some case legit hoarders can be helpful by stashing gear and helping other players there freinds to get the gear they need. So its kind of a double edged sword. What is the measure of sucess in dayz is it to have the coolest gear? Is it to survive as long as you can? Is it to just have fun with your freinds? Is it just for a quick thrill pvp? I guess really its up to the player to decide..

    Stable Branch - 0.54 Discussion

    The reason I sat .54 out til now, is becuase of all the reports of poor game preformance, and really bad bugs and glitches, right after luanch. The dev team was really good about giving us all the heads up . It was left up to us if we wanted to play with the bugs there and deal with it, or just wait. In fact just based of what hicks said I decided simply just to wait til the hot fix came out then pick from were I left off. Theres something to be said for the way they were vary honest about the problems this patch was having right out of the gate, then keeping us posted on a fix. I like that. In my case its not too bad really. I gotta get a new LRS, comp and rap for my mosin. Cool thing is I think I already have a burlap strip or two. Not too bad. Maybe a game play session or too I will get it back. I gives me something to do for a while.
