    Worst losses.

Well I have known of many players that have been dicked over by those trucks since they released them. Now even more so its seems in .54 (which Im not playing til the hot fix). Your lucky I guess not to ever have died from one beofre .54. I haven't either, I have heard enough horror storys to make me not want ride in one. There was one time my game crashed while riding in one and another time were the truck struck a object and completly buged out, was luckly when it stoped it was above the map.. Me I stay away from them while there running, and never hit any objects with them. But I know many players that have died due to truck bugs. Its been a problem.

    Worst losses.

The truck buggyness is not new. They have been really wonky since Day ONE It has to do with the trucks are still in a vary crude state of development. They can kill you really fast. Simply hitting a object the wrong way can send you underneath the map. Also if the engine is running dont touch it.....you can die. If you jump out while its moving, its 50/50. You dont know how many times Ive been on TS, "I found a truck! Yes! Then 20 mintues later....WTF Im dead." Happens all the dam time. I dont like riding in them right now, unless I am freshly spawned were it dosnt matter if I die. I sure as fuck hope they fix those death bugs before they allow transport of more then 2 people. There will be intire clans dieing at once, like 10 at a time lol Fuck! The QQing would be epic holy crap There has been some issues with .54, like major issues, you may have noticed. The dev team seems to be well aware of it, and are working on a hot fix. So really theres no point in complaining about it, its not going to do any good. Im doing my self and my avatar a huge favor and holding off playing until they release some sort of fix, and then see verification that it is fixed. So this patch is screwed up right now, I advise maybe waiting til they fix it. I would rather have to wait, then play a glitched out game buged out game. Shits Broken! Come Back Later!

    0.54 Issues

.......ohhhh boy............... Well I think I may as well hold off on playing until we get word on a possible hot fix. All part of the development process I guess. No worrys Good Luck Devs, hope you all get it figured out!

    Missing Weapon Attachments after Patch

Now I gotta run all over the map looking for a LRS, rap and comp. Is there just no attachments what so ever, or are they still in the game just missing off our inventory? I think Im going to wait on this one and see if they do fix it. Looks like there is some sort of issue with the naming of items according to what I read.

    Compass always wrong?

Heres something I do...it still is usable. Dont equip it. Dont hold in your hands. Click inspect, then look at the picture of it, on the right part of the compass there are 2 buttons. Between the 2 it is the correct direction. Its off to the right. So were what direction your going in is to the right not the front. Make since? Its a bug but still is usable.

    Crafted Leather cloths

Your feeling the pain. Your right it is counter intuitive in a way. I mean the leather stuff, you would think that would to encourage players to survive off the grid. But for me lol it caused me to spend even more time in a urban setting to find the lime. So seeing a alt method to tanning or preparing the leather for use would be nice. Funny thing is I started my new avatar on 3pp when .53 came out. I intended on, just getting the things I needed, ghillie, and a modest kit, then to pretty much live off the grid. But it seems Im spending allot of time in urban areas looking for things, like having to look for another pot that was ruined for example. Man oh man, it has took me quite a while to get set up to live not have to go into towns, almost starting to wonder if its even worth it. Its really my own fault though I should have checked out some videos of the changes like I normally do instead of just thing it would be easy hahaha hey at least I admit it. The reality is my avatar is doing pretty good, and I really should not piss about minor stuff, it could be far worse.
  7. CJFlint

    Crafted Leather cloths

I crafted a leather vest on my 3pp, its not bad, holds 10 slots. Just wish it was a little darker for camo reasons, its almost lite tan. Lugging lime around gets kind of old fast, fucking takes 6 slots. So its probably best to do it early on or when you can spare 6 slots and get over with quickly to lug around that huge bag around. When I made mine I had to make room for that un godly bag of lime lol I hope to see more alt methods put in the game for stuff like tanning and lighting fires. Things were if you if you know what your doing you could survive off the land right out of the gate as a fresh spawn. Deer seem to have the most amount of leather vs say a boar. So boars produce 2, cows I think 3 and deer 4 peices...Pretty sure thats right. Off the subject, Im still learning things about dayz to this day LOL Funny thing is, with all the new changes with .53, I learned about stuff the hard way a couple of times, like the cooking changes ways to do it right and the old ways that do not work anymore. I ruined 8 peices of meat, and a pot just by putting it on a fire, when I should have built a oven. I was kind of annoyed it took me probably 30 minutes to hunt the 2 animals. By the time I got the found a nice place to make a fire then get the fire made I invested prob 45 minutes maybe longer. I was hoping to have enough meat to last me a couple sessions, in a nice pot that only takes up 4 slots but carrys 8 (nice add!). But nooooooooooooo my pot and all the meat was ruined...god dam it all to hell! :o God dam this game! rant rant rant...I going to play go play skyrim! I will never ever ever make that mistake again haha

    Death by Overheating.

Regardless If a player is in a critical state like freezing or overheating its time to take action. Its one reason why I carry everything I need to construct a fire or improvised backpack. You can't just keep playing when your character is overheating you have to stop and fix it. Ghillie is all about temp management so like you saying, sure being wet can back fire or vs versa. You have to monitor the status bars. And adjust according to what your says. I have deliberately made my self wet, and was able to cool off, then able to move much faster. But its a balancing act. If your not careful yes like you said it can backfire.
  9. CJFlint

    Death by Overheating.

I don't know how good of an idea to give tips on ghillie suits on the forums...because many would rather not many people have them but I will tell. If you want to cool off while wearing it get soaked. Seriously lay in water and soak your self. That will keep you cool for a while. I carry a rope and extra burlap so I can also craft a a improvised pack to place it in if you don't need to wear it. When you want to put it on again, put the suit on then take apart the improvised pack and take the rope and burlap with you and leave the stick behind. Drink lots of water and eat too, try to keep healthy energized and hydrated as best you can it helps too. Hydration helps. So I have def noticed being wet, is not a bad thing when carrying are wearing the suit and hood. Being dry you will over heat, even still. Try to also only sprint when you have too, that heats you up too. If you really have to cool of shed your close lay in water. I silly as this sounds my hole play style changed when start using the ghillie stuff. You def have monitor every thing more. How much food you have, are you heathy, temperature ect. You can only carry a limited amount. So I think it may not be everyone's cup of tea being a wookie.

instaghillie, SKS and "in hands" items

Really if your already used to concealment before ghillie suit. The hood and rap is just fine. Really the top really just seals the deal even more for me.

Two more guys that just can't play the game

Well regardless, that was a shady dick move on their part. Clear exploiting. Happens to often. Stuff like that turns what would normally be nice and decent players into hostile players. I personally would like not to have to worry about random players as much as I do in this game. But I never forget when I 1st started playing, there was no welcome mat rolled out, there was people quick to shot me for no reason. Tried the hero thing, just to be shot in the back. So I pretty much trust no random really and refuse to be dicked around, as much as I try sometimes there is no stopping it. That was NWAF a known kos area as I'm sure you know too. Both of us know regardless players are more def more hostile there. But still that was a exploit or hack. Which breaks what few rules this game has. Probably was a good thing to have posted this, I wonder if that was hacking or the player was exploiting some sort of building bug. I wish I could tell you. Maybe you should submit the video to one of the staff you have a good video of them clearly shooting through the wall. There is no question about it, and legit prof of cheating of some sort.
  12. CJFlint

instaghillie, SKS and "in hands" items

Before the wipe and now I went with the ghillie top, rap and hood. I prefer the top over the full ghillie just becuase it covers most of the body anyways, and takes much less to make. I like hunter pants bottoms or anything else cammo and brown jungle boots to cover the legs. Now there is a over heating issue, what I do is lay in the water and become soaked, as crazy as that sounds to cool down. It works for a while. Also I carry a burlap bag and rope so I can craft a improvised back back to carry extra items. When I want to wear the ghillie top I just take apart the pack and carry the rope and burlap bag with me. The when I want to take it off, I put the improvised back find sticks and put it back together, put the top in the pack and Im good to go. Im going to try stashing this patch too on perist servers. Maybe store a hunters pack with extra food somewheres, picking it up every tuesday. No big lose if I lose it. I like the ghillie. Not only does it hide you really well, it also forces you to be more of a survivalist and minimalist. I dont have vary much gear at all really just the bare min to surive. At least for me it does. I enjoy it and thrive.....I just dont get hoarding anymore, It dosn't help me to live anylonger at all. All I need is just may 10 or 15 items and food Ill live til they wipe again. 60 to 100 rounds for the mosin, 1st aid kit, compass (It does work your direction is to the right), stone knife, fire axe, matches, canteens, some repair kits...thats all I need. The bush rag it seems like you have to give allot (your back pack) just to get alittle extra camo with the hood. Thats just me. Also I a while ago decided I dont like carrying more then one rifle. Its a pain in the butt. I always end up losing one lol Dayz is so god dam corky I really dont like leaving stuff on the ground at all if it is important. As far as finding everthing to make the top, gun rap and hood. It takes a while at least for me, but I wasnt hoping. This time I found netting faster then all the burlaps. I also made sure I kept 2 cans of green paint on me this time too before I made it.

Guns you can't wait to see in DayZ?

SVD and the .308 You know I would really like some attachments for the .357 too, I always liked that pistol.
  14. CJFlint

Two more guys that just can't play the game

Why did you go into that jail......I would have not done that. That guy sounded shady as hell. It seems your instincts were spot on, you knew they guy was un trust worthy and something was up. When something dosn't seem right it probably isn't. That was a clear exploit too. Kind lose lose if you will. Yep Dayz is filled to the gills with complete dick head players like that. Cant trust a mofo
  15. CJFlint

To the two that KOS'd at NW last night.

Emu, your a nice person, seem to be fairly smart. Im going to tell you something becuase I care, and want to save you future head aches. Heres the thing Dayz is filled with players that are not nice, pretty much un freindly and some really not that smart, at least not in game. Think of it like having go through in a really bad naborhood filled with shady people and criminals. Its true. Go into it expecting that. Sure sure we all met a nice random player here in there. After playing this game for over a year now, I can tell you about 80% of randoms you meet in game are not at all freindly, and do not have your best interests in mind. You see most dayz players, play shooters outside or before they played day z and there whole game is to shoot other players. Its the sad truth. I find I surive much much longer, pretty much not making contact with anyone in game, unless I really have too. My policy is with randoms. If they got a weapon in hand, unless the just killing zombies, I pretty much consider them hostile. I either kill them or flee. Quote from the red baron "only fight battles you think you can win". I find that quote really applys to the SA when playing solo and to survive. Fits well. If the player does not have a weapon in hand and seems to be just going from one place to another, I will leave them alone but making sure I keep and eye on them and make sure they cant see me. If some one does make contact with me I keep it vary breif, then leave the area quickly. If someone makes contact with me, then trolls me or tells misleading information, I consider them hostile and either shoot or flee. I just dont trust randoms. http://youtu.be/0OnpkDWbeJs I feel like francis playing dayz toward random players in dayz all paranoid. hahahaha Infact many are that way. But serously though dayz really is a hostile game, players tend to complete dicks to each other if they dont know each other. They are hell bent on wrecking players game play and shooting players. In fact QQing or complaining about KOSing only provides them entertainment and makes the do it even more. Its not going to change either, best thing to do is adapt. Dont fight the grain. The best way to make freinds with players is outside the game, by joining a group or making freinds on steam or TS.
  16. There is no honor or anything like that. This is a video game. Most of the shooting of players that goes on in game is players who get the drop on other player 1st before the other player does. Its really that simple. For many players killing other players and pvp is the end game period. The reason because before days they probably played other shooter games were there was a score board or leader board, so they play day z with the same mindset. They don't care if people get butt hurt about it, infact it provides them entertainment. They have the mind set were pvp and shooting other players is the end game. Its a mind set that many players have that play shooter games. We also at least in a society that if left unchecked and parents don't do there jobs glamorizes violence. I have played with many players in this game, and for most players I have seen survival is not there goal, there goal and end game is pvp. I think its a survival sim, so that's my goal, were pvp is either something I have do to keep survival. I really don't get any satisfaction from it, maybe a rush. Mostly I feel relieved when its over if I live through it. If you go into this game thinking its a friendly social interaction game, because you saw Morgan freeman or Frankie videos that don't really reflect the reality of the game. My opinion you got a uphill battle, some learning curb hurdles ahead and frustration ahead of you. The game is already hard enough, but not knowing the players who play it makes it worse.
  17. Losing faith.... I think once you understand and come to the conclusion that the SA when it comes to random players is pretty much survival of the fittest and in some cases sheer ass hat behavior, the better off you will be in game. Sure there are nice players....sure....cough cough...but there the minority. Come on really. Do you really think for a second that a game with no rules, no score board, a crap ton of guns and no accountability, that every one is going to just run around and pass out flowers to each other? Come on really?? What the hell. What do you expect people to do. Its a game...and has no rules. Its a prefect storm for players to be complete dicks to each other. I don't expect any random player to ever be nice. There just not. I large portion of players that play are players who like shooter games like cod, arms, counter strike ECT ECT. THEY LIKE SHOOTING OTHER PLAYERS! What do you expect. Its the nature of the game. It is not everyone cup of tea. I will say I don't blame players for taking breaks, or even people who find out its something they don't like and move on. Its cool. I completely understand people wanting a social game were people are nice. Dayz people tend to be dickish, ass holes in game. On top of that its unforgiving and perma death. Its also in development and on its best day is corky and kind of fun game, on its worst day it ha broken mechanics, lag and death bugs. I can see it being extremely frustrating for players that have no idea what there getting into.

    Barret 50. cal?

ops lol dam cel phone, I men't taking out. Regardless though, the barett I don't think currently has a place in the stand alone. Maybe later on, not now though. We will see. Were are we going with this game? I kind of wonder sometimes. I understand the desire to have the high military weapons in game. Lets face it for many of us this isn't our 1st game that we played from this company. Many of us also played ARMA series and even OFP. Many are players who like 1pp 3pp multi player shooters. They kind have that COD, counter strike mind set. Lets gear up tp pvp. We know this from just playing, most groups and many players pvp is there end game, basicly they just gear up to pvp, and die.....with no score board...just for kicks. About 1 hour to maybe 3 day life cycle give or take. DayZ, is considered and meant to be a survival game were pvp is all tied in to the survival. At least that was the impression I got. There other players like me that would prefer it focus on post apoc survival were pvp all part of it, its something you have to do out of survival, not nec for a score or pride. IF that is indeed the case, maybe it should be focused less on high end military fire power, more on survival type stuff, were if your lucky maybe you can get your hands on some military gear. Were you are more worried about just making it through and keeping your avatar and your friends alive then looting all the crash site for hours to get that decked out m4 and high end gear....just to lose it. For me when I started thinking of it as a more of a survival game, were my primary focus is self preservation and group preservation, not instant grad pvp, I tended to live much much longer. I think there almost 2 schools of thought, on what dayz is all about. Or maybe its just pure gameplay freedom. Speaking for my self, I have ARMA 2, I have other combat related games that if I have the feeling I want to see pvp or pve combat, I play em. DayZ I always thought of not in the same catagory, its different. The way I look at it, dayz just barely even has vehicles, only vary vary crude 1st baby steps toward base building. Persistants kind of works. This weekend I tested it out, its still vary wishy washy right now. I am sure everyone else who messed with it saw the same. I sometimes get nervous just placing something on the ground, let alone leaving it there for a server restart lol. Were a long way from any kind of bases or serous barricades, that a gun like a barrett would be well suited for. Stuff like breaching or blowing holes through walls. We dont even really know what base building is really even going to be yet. Really all the finished features the devs just gave us a ruff hint of it is going to be like. So I say maybe its best to wait and see on this one, maybe it will have a place maybe not.

    Barret 50. cal?

A 50 cal sniper rifle......well in DayZ there would be no real benefit currently other then getting a 100% chance of killing with one shot. The game Im pretty sure does not have mechanics in place to say blow a hole through a wall, or destroy say a engine block, and there no light armor in game either. Maybe later on they could add a really high caliber sniper rifle either nato or warsaw or both to the game if there ever those types of mechanics added. Lets talk about some real world stuff here. The barret is dam near a crew serve weapon system (meaning a crew to operate) its right on the boarder line of that. Meaning there not something at all ideal to be running around with. When I was in the service I saw them in use in combat training exercises. There huge massive guns, vary loud. Def something that has to be fire prone. The military uses them not just for killing, its a breaching weapon and can destroy light armored vehicles. Not really something that ideal for talking out troops in the open if you will. They def are prepose built. I know I know naval seals the movie, and what ever movie you saw some guy was ramboing/ Or what ever other video game they were in lol Its not at all the reality. I mean if they put one and game realisticly and it had all the real world pros and cons, I prob would prefer to carry something more like the SVD, mosin or a .308. Your going to be lugging around a massive gun you cannot not run and shot with, you cant move that fast with it. The ammo would take up a large amount of your slots. Maybe later on, when the game is closer to complete maybe then revisit the idea, right now I just dont think it would be a good fit for this game. Lets face it theres no real defencive positions yet other then just trying to hold an area, theres only one fairly crude vehicle.. DayZ right now as far as combat goes is a fast moving battlefield on foot pretty much. I mean even if I camp something, I will get up and leave to a new area the minute I open fire and all the shooting stops.

    I feel like an asshole

You know, I think in day z your pretty much fair game to any thing the moment you log in. I just don't expect random players to have my best interests in mind while playing. Man I know better. My 1st 2 weeks playing I got kosed more times then I can count. Good deeds bad deeds, karma, didn't didn't seem to mater. I adapted my game play and learned the ways. I learned the does and don'ts. BUT regardless I try to treat everyone with a certain level of respect and video game sportsmanship. Days simulates complete apocalyptic chaos so there are no rules, so really the only thing I frown apon in game is hacking, insults or general ass hat behavior in game. You play how you like and believe what you want to believe. Maybe you are effected by karma in a game, didn't know that was possible. But really I think you may want to dumb down the spiritual superstition because I suspect It might be more of a liability in your case to think about stuff like that then anything in a game. But do and play how you like, its your day z experience not mine. Anyhow happy gaming
  22. CJFlint

    I feel like an asshole

Wow you played for a long time and never killed a player. That's pretty crazy. Interesting Anyhow killing players in day z seems to be put way up on a pedestal by many players. For me I never really got a since of achievement like some do that play this game. I have to confess most players I have shot in game I saw them 1st. Much of the time it feels kind of like a relief that they fall over more then anything. There no longer a threat and I dint have to worry about them. Its never really honorable. I have shot players that were un armed, inside vehicles, in the back, point blank and far away. I don't really care, because its a game and I know good and well they would shoot me too. Its just a reflex, really. To me its something I do out of in game survival, which is my end game. But yeah its never some kind honor thing. I don't lie to my self and feel the need to put a label bandit, on someone to make my self feel better about doing it. I just do it. I don't need an excuse. Don't feel bad, you shot someone in game, and it happens all the time. Think about it this way, most players average life is about 1 hour. If there were karma I would have never would survive nearly as long as I normally do, this is a game. Luck and karma have nothing to do with it. Don't psyche your self out so much, your over thinking it my friend. Its a game! So if it wasn't you it would have been something else. They will go back to the coast and start fresh. I think that player was really stupid for being afk were he was.

    Comparing DayZ to similar games.

I only played twice this week, I have been revisiting Skyrim. I'm making like a ultimate mage character. I even have the grey beards out fit lol. Big as wizard beard, hell yeah! My character is un armed and I only relly on magic and shouts. Kind of funny I always play Bethesda were I play it for a while then put it down. I bought Skyrim in 2010 and am now I think 70% complete maybe. I did finish the main story, but there are so many side activities it insane. I want to finish doing my avatar build in day z over the weekend. I got kind board or burnt out last time I played. Just wasn't feeling it. I take breaks when I get that feeling. Just wanted to play something different. Last patch I played way to much. I spent a whole day playing, a couple of times. Its getting to the point were its seeming easy and kind of routine. I spent allot of time figuring out stuff like survivability and so forth. Dos and do not's. Sometimes I think even the players get predictable. I know what they want, I know were they pvp, seen were people gravitate. Military bases and big city's, pds, Baracks is, fire houses, oh....and check the industrial tower and apartments in cherno, that's were the snipers hang out. Then there's the campers...lol Really many players do the same thing as each other. But there are some that are really unpredictable, cunning those are the ones you gotta look out for.

lol Honestly that was my max, Greek food only got me 14 yesterday. Half the cost of day z. Ha ha
  25. CJFlint

    Comparing DayZ to similar games.

The game is a early early access, and with early access games there is growing pains. The game works well is some areas but in other areas or corky at best, down right crude and buggy in others. You guys are aware that BETA is like a year out? I am pretty sure thats what I saw anyways. Thats kind of a long time. May as well be patient. Heres how I look at it, a year ago I paid 29 dollars for Dayz SA. Thats what like what it cost me for lunch, or the fancy craft beer I enjoy. I mean not to sound like an ass, but thats not really that much money for a game. The whole time really I have only been somewhat active, sometimes I just dont have time or play other games. I got I think close to 600 hours, thats allot of time for any game. I know of players that have 2000 hours....no shit. Even if the game went belly up today, completly went away I still got my moneys worth. Its not pay to win, you buy once. In fact most games I buy I pay 60 bucks for and prob only put 200 hours in at the most. So you cant say there ripping anyone off here. Another thing is in all the interviews with Rocket or Hicks, they were completly honest about pretty much everything with this game. Steam makes it vary clear this is early accesss, its not finished. Pretty much in the past every thing they said was going to happen, up til now happened. They also never said it was going to be prefect. So to me they got a year, if this game is still in the same state is in now 2016, Im writing it off. But Im pretty sure it will be much better. If you dont like what you see now, but like the consept. Just wait and comeback later. Hell when gta5 comes out on pc Im prob going to take a long break. I mean theres only so much you can do in dayz right now before it kind of gets really blan and boring. The thrill of pvp weres off, you been every where on the map, and have met all the people you care to meet. What left is there really. I dont want to get so sick of it I dont want to play anymore this early.
