This is my newest life, my solo sniper build...need some more ammo for my FNX lol used em up
-
Yes ammo crates store I think 8 slots of ammo emptied out of there boxes, but ammo only. It takes up 4 slots. There's also the 1st aid kit and yellow protective case that hold 6 slots, but only take 4. On my current build I started off with the hunters back pack, then made my own back back out of a burlap sack, sticks and rope. It had 5 less slots then the hunters I think, but the 1st aid kit, yellow protective case and ammo box helped me to use every last bit of space. It also cuts down on my profile and helps blend in with the trees. I would love to see more stuff that we can make our selves in game. The only thing is, there WAS reports of game crashes caused by cases, and deaths. It was some sort of game bug, but I have not seen it happen in a long while. Here's the thing, having those huge mountain back packs and using them in game makes you stick out like a sore thumb to a sniper. If you have a red one way more so. So I think yes maybe players who pick them up can carry allot more stuff, but you profile is much larger. I learned this over time......I will confess the hard way, both being on the receiving end of gun fire and dishing it out. Ya may as well paint a red shoot me sign on your self. I finding I like the much much prefer the hunters and improvised much better, even though there are less slots. So I think people with out even thinking are making them selves much more visible, using blue, red, purple or even bright green back packs. So its not like they are getting some sort advantage lol Just packing that bag full of stuff. Then getting shot before they ever have a chance to use it. As far as zombies go, I would like to see them realisticly placed in the game. So say if it is one of the larger citys, there needs to be more much more zombies, but say smaller towns less. Also more of verity of them and maybe even make it so players can become infected and turn into one. That would be quite the trolling tool lololol
-
Me too. Those are the coolest ones! It takes a little know how to make one work out too. Like using ammo boxes, containers and 1st aid kit to add slots. Its also fun finding the stuff you need to make one. I def would love to see way more improvised items in game.

Third person exploits reached a new low today
CJFlint replied to liquidsnake's topic in General Discussion
It may be time for you to try Hardcore were there is no 3rd person. Simple solution. I'm not really sure if that is really considered an exploit, because it is not a broken mechanic. Many pvp games have 3rd person and yes you do have pros and cons of using it. Seeing over things is one thing. But if people are using to see through objects that is a game exploit. -
What I noticed more and more when encountering random people in game, is the more valuable gear they have the less risks they will take. They are more likely to take cover and fight battles only if they think they will win. Playing in a "Hero" clan I have noticed fresh spawns at times can be much more unpredictable then someone running with valuable gear, and much more likely to try something daring. Like attempting to get a knock out punch then take some ones gear. Or pull other crap. I have seen fresh spawns use as bait, and even used to set other players up. Another thing about random encounters is, is never ever assume they are alone, ever. Just because people are not clan tagged does not mean they are not talking to other players on team speak. Even if you shoot them more still may show up to take you out. Honestly in the encounter posted here, I would have saw the mask and assumed he was a bandit period. It would really depend on the situwation weather I would have shot him or not. If I were untagged and solo, my paranoid level would be high and honestly I would probably considered him a threat and not even bothered with prox voice. Un spoken rule in DayZ your wearing a pay day mask, your a bandit, most know that. If I was in a group he would have to deemed a threat or threat to other players 1st. There probably would be a prox voice before any shots were fired. If encounters were low in the area he was in.

Couple of Questions about Zombies Etc
CJFlint replied to Pixel Crisis's topic in New Player Discussion
I think in the last patch the Zombies have become more "OPed", if you will. Thee fire axe was the one hit zombie melee weapon of choice for a long while. It used to be, that one hit anywhere would drop them with a fire axe. Now its less effective. Unless you get a prefect head shot, it will take a few swings. My current strategy is to avoid them all together. Either from running from them at high speed, simply turbo running around them (zombies are really stupid) or sneaking around crouched and just avoiding contact them all together (this works best). I really don't like fighting them these days, they will cause you to bleed, get infections and slowly bleed you to death if your not careful. Its also a free ticket to have your close and equipment ruined. Real annoying pains in the asses they have become. Another thing I have noticed with the new patches, is the more people who have in your group, the more zombies that will spawn. One way I learned to keep zombie contact down to a min is pure stealth. Keeping low, not going in front of their line of sight, not firing weapons with out reason ect ect. To me it works the best, although sometimes they still will come after you. If you have to get one out of your way hit them from behind in the head. If all else fails and you don't feel like getting into melee with them shot them if you really have to. Just remember gun shots are like location beacons for other players and more zombies. -

Heroes, the undisputed champions in ghosting.
CJFlint replied to Rick1633's topic in General Discussion
This happens all the time it seems. People could be on TS together and tell a friend exactly were to spawn in. It is an issue. I saw this last sat when we took over an apartment bld and began getting in fire fights. The next thing we knew people started spawning inside the building all at the same time. Here's the thing though, until the devs fix this and yes it is up to them. It will continue to go on. Same with any other game exploit. What I think should happen is there should be zones were you log in. So when you log out, the next time you log in you go to the nearest log in zone. Or something like that. -
This is true, they are easy to de-rail which could create some fun for players who want to derail them. One could even make a run away train. Here's the thing, arma 2 has rail road tracks same with dayz mod and SA. But from what I know no one has ever even made a mod to use them. Or have they? The way I look at it is if the rail road is there in the game. Why not put them to use, give them a use other then looks. Its not 100% needed to have, but it would be a nice touch of detail.
-
LOL This would be asome!!! I'm one of those dorks who really likes Train Sim 2014, and to have it in Day Them In Day Z would be freack n cool. It would be a twisted dream come true lol A armored train! Locomotives are super powerful, imagine driving through a herd of zombies with a freight train locomotive!!! Holy crap that would be asome!

There is exploiters and then there is just plane hackers. Exploiters are people who really know the game mechanics or learned from some one else and are able to find loop holes or things to make the game easier for them selves. Like using player bandwith to determine if someone is close to you, server hoping, seeing through walls in 3rd person, using artificial barriers for cover ect ect. In every pvp game I have ever player in my life there are people who do this much more often then not. Many people do this and will never admit to it. They will come to the forums and complain about it, then do it them selves. Online gamers are some of the biggest hypocrites I have ever seen anywhere, there's a real false since there real IDs are not known so they can get away with and say anything the feel like saying. It is not really considered cheating maybe border line, its hard to prove, it is exploiting broken or weak game mechanics to your advantage. Not much anyone can do about it, its really up to the devs to fix these weak spots in the game. But it will always go on. Hackers are different. These people are changing or making tweaks to the game engine it self, changing scripts, and running 3rd party soft ware. It kind of worry's me sometimes. What if the can do more then that, like snag player IPs. This is a real concern and I hope that the devs are looking into this. Look what happened to SONY online a few years ago, millions of player got there personal info taken including card info...Which resulted in legal action.....serously bad for sony. In game hacking is just the begining of how this sort of thing starts. It's mainly the developers job to protect players form hackers and fix weak spots in the game which create game exploits. Its on them. Don't just not create a weak program then wonder why people are exploiting and hackers cracking into the game. Fix those weak links. Because no matter what we do, there is and ALWAYS will be a ton of ass holes in this world and people who always look for the easy way out. If you don't have much for road blocks, they will consider it open season.

I role with a booney hat and do not currently use a helmet. I love those booney hats. I'm going for camo and stealth though and my current build or life is set up as a sniper. I shot from a far and don't go into towns or city's unless I need food or I'm grouped. I think next time I'm looting when I run low on food I'll make some room in my pack, to carry one to wear in city areas or high pop areas. In urban combat on a loaded server the helmet is not a bad idea at all, if you know there's good chance for a nasty fire fight or surprise encounter. Go as protected as possible it just makes sense. Almost dumb not to.

After playing DayZ SA for about a 100 hours plus, I came to the conclusion that DayZ is just like other pvp games were there a high cost of losing. When it comes to pvp. Same typpe of bullshit goes on. Just like the other ones I played there is ALWAYS tons of complete ass hat dick heads that play (people who prey on the weak, take easy kills and wreck unsuspecting players game play). They are not even good enough to be bullys in real life so they do it in a game lol Just like the other pvp games there's harping on the forums about these ass hats. No matter how much you bitch, preach and try to think of game mechanic changes, it will not fix a fucking thing. They will still be there. So the best thing to do is figure out were they hang out most the time, either avoid it or hunt them The best thing to do is to practice, and become a decent pvper. Learn the tactics, and the game mechanic exploits. What I always find after playing enough to become half way decent, is most of the people who do stuff like, preying on unarmed player. Is that they really much suck and its the only thing they know how to do. They arent thee sharpest pencils in the box either. They will run in any hint of a fair fight. This goes for just about every pvp game I have played. DayZ SA is in a pretty buggy Alpha state, so buggy in fact I decided to stop playing until they do the next big patch. When ever the fuck that is. I prefer they fix some of the game killing bugs 1st and for most. After playing for a couple weeks I figured out that pretty much in DayZ the end game is PvP. You run around looting get the military gear, and weapons. Then you go pvp. There just isn't enough meat in the surival part of it yet to make it an end game. After running around collecting things on a few different lives, then doing pvp and giving fresh spawns food (which sometimes they turn out to be ungreatful). I thought to my self, "WTF now!? whats the point?" Theres also these really fucking lame death bugs that they gotta fix! The map is exactly the same is ARMA 2 only with new buildings. As a matter of fact I took up a helicopter in ARMA 2 and flew around on the default map. Its the same fucking map pretty much, and the graffics are not any better really. Just a few new buildings, and houses you can go in. So sometimes I wonder why is this really so popular anyways?? Honestly I wouldn't really give a crap if it all takes a nose dive and fails. I'll just go back and play arma 2 lol

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
CJFlint replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I think more then likely it will continue to get developed and all the things will be added. That just me though. There's to much riding on it now. Also I think if you paid for alpha you have the game for good, so probably you not have to pay again. -

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
CJFlint replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Well after playing dayz sa for 100 hours plus. I saw some things I found alarming. People getting really really upset, mad and sometimes even scared. DayZ maybe to much for some people too handle. There is a youtube video were a girl was screaming so loud while playing her next door nabor called the police on her. That's kind crazy. I almost think there should be a disclaimer "only meant for mature audiences". Then there's all the WOW freak out videos OMG. I thought I was bad for cursing at the screen. If you find your self getting really upset over DayZ or any other games, remember your not the only one. And just take a break from it. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
CJFlint replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Serous? Really? Anyone who thinks like that should not be playing games and should be in a mental ward. Its entertainment! People paid only 30 bucks for it. Me I got 100+ hours out of it. More then some games I have had for over a year. Its already paid for it self. And there is a disclaimer, that you read when you log making people aware that it is vary early in development. All they need to do is fix some of the really bad bugs, and the game is already pretty good minus all the new content that will be added. There's a major difference between DayZ and other violent game and reality. If people don't get that they should not be playing game, either because they are too young or they have mental illness. I really think they need to do a better job with age verification. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
CJFlint replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I heard that news too...kind of a a surprise. Well he said in his in one of his departing remarks, "Day Z is fundamentally flawed by design." I found that abit concerning to be honest. So who knows. There probably allot we don't know about thats going on. I just hope Dayz SA continues and finishes the rest of its development. I also hope the start really addressing some of the really bad death bugs like death by ladder or being pushed out of buildings or structures only to have you legs broke or die. Then after you die your try to run back to your body to collect your items that you spent hours collecting sometimes days, only to have a a server reset or you body cant loot you body because its half way through a wall. They got to fix that shit serously. I don't care if its alpha or no alpha they need to fix it first. To me those are nasty game killing bugs. There was a guy on hear who claimed he logged 100 of hours and still is on his 1st life, and has never died. I thought to my self, gee he most have been on a server all by all himself and has never been up stairs or ladders. I die more by bugs then zombies or other players. I hope they pull through. -
I have been following that story. According to what I read there has been a truce. The president gave in (so far anyways) to many of the protesters demands. So good for them for standing up for them selves. So I think it is vary possible it averted Chechnya type of conflict. Were old Russia refused to give up its grip. I don't think we need any more conflicts going on like that. Putin is proving himself to be a really nasty person. Between him having an ex spy shoot up with radioactive waste in a brutal way to kill a "trator". To having the band pussy riot arrested multiple times and beaten. He was also involved in the Chechnya conflict. The whole thing with Ukraine and Russia, is really similar. He makes Bush look like a saint. I honestly don't want to compare it or model a game after it. Its too early. They are people suffering, its real. But when I saw the pictures on yahoo, I thought the same thing. That looks like dayZ theres even people with back packs and motorcycle helmets. Allot of it is because much of ARMA and OFP maps are meant to portray eastern EU. A riot shield is a great idea for the game. That's could be vary useful. I just hate the idea of modeling a game after a current crisis. I know one thing after seeing all the pictures and reading about it, you really don't want to piss off the Ukrainian population. Holy Crap!

Whats the 1st thing I should do when I spawn for the 1st time?
CJFlint replied to parnell91's topic in New Player Discussion
After after having to re-spawn a number of times and testing out different approaches I figured out a method that works for me almost every time to get geared up and healthy fairly quickly. Allot of does and don'ts I learned the hard way which made me better. 1st step is to go to DayZ.com and look at the map. I have mine up on a different device then I'm playing on like a cell phone or lap top. You going to spawn on the coast either, some were east or near electro. When I spawn I ditch my flashlight if its day time(I normally find a head torch later anyways, which are not that hard to find). To me it saves space. Then I take my my tee shirt off and tear it into rags. Your not going to keep it long anyways. Then I get my bearings this becomes easier over time. I know if the coast is to the right of me I'm either west or north. At this point I HAUL ASS! I dont go to electro, there are normally bandits there that will shot you or screw with you until you die. For me I just loot the coastal "New Spawn Loot" towns just enough to get enough food to get me too were the weapons and good items are. I don't like hanging around coastal towns to long. I also try to find some sort of back back, even if its just a school back pack. My 1st weapons place I go for weapons is the ship, or NEAF. Normally if I loot those two area I will at least have a gun and some military items. I try to do this as fast as possible. I find that if your un-armed you are at the mercy of everyone, when armed you stand a chance. Normally that's when I go west. I also try to find fire axes, they are great for killing zombies. Food also has allot of value. Water does too, but it is easier to find, their are ponds and water pumps all over if you look at the map. Rice and powdered milk I find to be the best food items. They last forever. Try to eat and drink as much as you can and keep your self energized and hydrated at all times. Dealing with zombies can be a pain in the ass at 1st. I got beat n up by them when I 1st started. They slowly can bleed you to death. The way I deal with them now if I'm fresh spawn is to either sneak passed them or out run them and out turn them. Zombies are really really dumb. So as long as your moving fast (turbo run) you can easily get away from them. I don't even care if there chasing me anymore I just run past them and keep looting lol. Don't bother wasting your time trying to fight them if you don't have a axe or shovel. Other players are dicks! So be careful, there's lots of bandits and people who seem trustworthy will shot you in the back. -

CJFlint replied to MyPassword is Chickens20's topic in New Player Discussion
Yes this is true, also DayZ could be has some of the elements of a really nasty civil war with blured lines, or kind of like what the lawlessness that happened after Katrina for a short while. But its just a game, a realistic one, but still a vary much a CPU game. Kind of weird how us gamer's find this stuff fun, I think every one has that in them though, to want to see worse case with out getting hurt them selves. But if they were really in a situation in real life like the situation DayZ portrays, most people would in there right mind would want their old life back. It would really suck lol Whats scary is minus the zombies there are places in the world were its kind of like DayZ, lawless shit holes. Back to the whole friendly thing, I will say that making friend's with random TRUST WORTHY people prox voice can be hard. If I'm by myself I don't even bother trying anymore if I'm alone. If I do make contact normally its just a hi and bye, or do you need anything. I'm better off just looting and by my self, then bringing someone else with me I dont even know if I can trust. If you want friends, join a clan or at least download TS and log into the server channel if it has one. It takes some of the random encounter realism away, but its much easier to become friendly with people that way, then the meeting out in the streets of electro. Being grouped makes the game much easier, and if you want to help others being grouped is the best way. DayZ solo is a vary lonely exp in the world of gaming so it is also nice to have people to talk to and joke around with and share with. Although there's just something about being solo that makes the game much more intense. The pvp is also way more intense when no ones helping you. My alertness is way higher. In a way it becomes a much different game. -

For me its the adventure. But it is really nice to have good gear, lots of food and water. But, I'm not afraid to lose it, or get mad if I lose it. The funny thing is....and I really hate to admit it...Getting shot as many time makes as I have been makes me a much better looter ha ha. It used to take me a couple days to get geared up. Now like maybe a half hour to 45 minutes lol. I now days try to get geared up ASAP then that's when the game starts. -

In many ways DayZ is just like any other pvp game, I played but with a higher cost of losing. Another game I played POTBS was similar, you go out in the red zones, you can lose all the stuff you worked for in a flash if your not careful. For the most part what I have seen in MMO or multi player pvp games were their is a high cost of losing. Is no matter how much people complain, rant, wine and preach...or even try to make unspoken rules. There will always be ass hole players who play, there's is no way around it. Its almost by design. The only way to change it is by changing the mechanics of the game. Just expect it to be that way, and learn ways to deal with the ass-hole players. What I learned in other pvp games once I became decent, is most of "ass-hole" or bandits you will find out really aren't all that brave and kind of suck really. Its the only way they know how to play. -

The thing I noticed about DayZ as well is it is much easier to meet people that will be "Freindly" on the forums or on Team Speak then randomly in game. Also "No KOS" servers I learned vary quickly not really that much safer, some people do follow the rules of it. But for the most part I'm learning to be just as careful there as any other server. Although I have to admit one of the only times that I had a random encounter at NWAF that was friendly was on a no KOS server. So there are some nice people. -

So far have logged about only 90 hours in DayZ SA according to Steam. I have played mainly solo but also have been in groups. They are 2 vary different experiences. While solo after being shot in the back a few times, I learned to pretty much not trust anyone. I remember thinking, "So that's how this game is, alright then". People are much much more likely to try to pull crap with you, and even gang up on you so called hero or bandit. I pretty much have learned to avoid certain areas like NWAF, electro ect ect and go to places to get weapons and loot that are not as popular. If I do go to NWAF I'm in and out as fast as possible. As far as my engagement policy, If I see someone with a gun, I do not prox voice them unless the prox voice me 1st. I try to avoid if I can. If they come near me with a gun raised its KOS period with no prox voice. I have prox voiced armed people 1st solo and it did not turn out good. Sorry its just that I have learned the hard way not to trust people unless they say they are freindly, and seem like they are not going to pull any crap. I pretty much have a stealthy yet hostile paranoid mindset while playing solo, I hate to say. It sucks it has to be that way, but people tend to be hostile way more hostile toward solo players. In groups its much easier, because other people are watching your back. You can share items. Its also much easier to make prox voice with other players too with out the pulling any crap because you are in force. Its an easier life grouped for sure, and people well most people are less likely engage you just because they feel like being a dick. But being pined down is the one danger I noticed. Other group eventually will want to try there luck with your group. You also have much more presence and are more visible. As far as DayZ goes there is really no clear sides or rules even. If it were a real life it would be worse case. There's really no points system that I have seen. You don't get points for being nice or being mean to people. Its the internet so peoples true ID aren't known so they feel they can do or act how ever they want without anything happening to them. So it almost encourages people to behave poorly. I give props to people who keep there humanity even in a game like this, and have the patience for it and some times end up getting shot because of it. But at least they keep their decency.
