Why would you leave the North-east corner? Ever?
CJFlint replied to maninthewall's topic in General Discussion
That's I'm say n LOL They can have all that hobo gear, and the slim pickings at NEAF LOL I have to admit I love having the west free for looting and gearing up :beans: -
Why would you leave the North-east corner? Ever?
CJFlint replied to maninthewall's topic in General Discussion
When I 1st started playing DayZ SA, the bulk of the pvp happened in Electro, Cherno/Bolota area and NWAF. NWAF was a really scary place to visit. In the last few months, the pvp now gravitates in the NE, were there tons of basic loot but slim pickings of high end military loot. Other then the new town and the new city, I don't get it. One vary good explanation is its close to fresh spawn points, because the best military loot spawns are on the west coast. I have also noticed players arn't going all out gearing up either as much anymore. They just grab enough to pvp with. In fact the some people I used to play with they almost had a fatalist hero approach to pvp, why bother getting all geared up when your just going to die. Just grab the bare min. Then if when you do die, you spawn close to your body and you can just go try to loot it. They went from being geared up in the best gear in game, to looking like hobos with some random gun they picked up LOL This all started when everyone started pvping in the NE. I think allot of this has to do with is because many player want "Instant Gratification". If pvp near spawn points you get that its as simple as that really. For them it isn't as much as a survival game anymore and more of a death match pvp game. For me DayZ SA is a all out survival game still. My 1st goal still is to keep my avatar alive, healthy and well geared as possible as long as possible. PvP happens when it happens, If I got the itch then I go up to the NE. I think if they make spawn points random so it could be anywhere near the coast not just east coast. We may start seeing pvp hot zones every where again. -
Aww cool. Well even less of an excuse then LOL I think DayZ was abit harder on fresh spawns earlier before hunting, fishing and some of the crafting a player can do. A player can can really just make an improvised back pack, find a knife or axe and just a other few items. Then set off. I mean you can survive with out a water bottle even so long as you know were to find sources of water. Because there's apple's, berrys and animals to survive off of now. After that they could technecly avoid towns and live off the land, then head strait toward military spawns where the good stuff is, with out being bled to death by zombies or shot by ass hats. Until you get to those military loot areas lolol Were as before .45 you had you needed more food to survive with. Don't get me wrong, animals to kill can be sparse, but its great alt route to take early on in the player life. There is a bit of a learning curb there too. Honestly I have not had to kill my self in game for a long time. When I did it was normally because I was wounded really bad by zombies really early on and had no way of fixing my situation. Zombies rarely kill out right, they bleed you to death over time. Now days I don't hang out in towns unless I really need something or I'm looking for trouble. I feel I'm in much more control over my fate in game. That took some serous learning though.

I almost 100% sure I remember Dean Hall saying in one of his interviews this was going to be added down the road, I think they will add it. It does suck to get fucked over really bad then have to figure out a way to die just to re spawn. But these days it dosn't happen nearly as often as when I 1st started playing. I mean if you break your leg all you need is to chop down a tree, get some sticks and some rags or bandages...make a splint then your good. Just make sure you got an axe and some rags on you at all times, as part of your kit... Another thing you have to consider is the more of this type of stuff we add, the more of an adult game we have. Some pretty serous stuff were simulating, maybe not the best thing for a say a young kid to play around with. Were moving into 18 and up territory. The only reason I mention that is because there are quite a few kids who play. I know it sounds dorky for me to mention it, but kids are super impressionable and don't really have a good grasp on reality yet. All it would take is one kid to kill them selves and it just so happened they were playing DayZ and a major shit storm would happen. So it maybe time to put 17 and up lable on DayZ LOL

It more then likely was staged or RPing. People who post videos on YouTube and Twitch are rewarded for how many hits they get, some even get paid. The crazier the better and you better believe some of those DayZ videos are staged. I mean come on...the other day I saw a DayZ video were "Frankie" and "Morgan Freeman" had a chance encounter.......ya right.....regardless it was funny I'll give them that....but it wasn't a freak encounter. As far as "slave trading" being in the game currently and being wide spread, it just isn't supported with the games current mechanics. Its a server based multi player with a max of 40 player per server not really a massive multi player were something like that might be possible on a larger scale. So your not going to see complex trading, and mass efforts you see in a MMO RPG.
-
I have to say its really up to the players and there means to decide what the point is for them. For me I know really there is no real steam rewards, badges, perks, points ect ect to be gained. There is no ethics mechanic in place, or reason other then human interaction to be good or bad in game. So I deal with it one encounter at a time. I look at DayZ as a pretty realistic survival sim, ran on probably one of the best military sim engines built for gaming. My satisfaction comes from survival moment to moment, planing every step to keep my avatar alive, healthy and geared as long as I can. I find it to be quite an adventure filled with unforgiving challenge. I also get allot of satisfaction from pvp and living through one contact at a time. If you really like books, movies and video games about the post apoc genre really there is no better game. Although I must say Fallout 3 was not far behind. But if your not really into post apoc genre and have no interest in knowing what it might be like to survive such a thing, human survival in a harsh world or don't like challenging pvp, then honestly this isn't the game for you.
-
Here's the thing about DayZ, its complete game play freedom. there is no points system, no quests, no missions perks ect ect. Its all about survival, exploration and the thrill of player contact. Its really up to the player and there means to decide the game they want it to be. So anything can happen with in the mechanics of the game. So I will not completely rule anything out if it is with in the mechanics of the game. Is there a slave trade in game, and is it a wide spread thing you ask...I would say if there is a slave trade of some kind its on a really small scale, done by role players like freethink is saying. It is really not wide spread at all. Because there's no real game mechanic for it, other then people trading items maybe. The person playing the slave could simply log of when the are sick of the abuse. I have honestly never seen it the entire time I have played. I'm not done yet he he Were not out of the woods yet because, capturing other players, hand cuffing them, banditry, force feeding ect ect ect is more wide spread. That happens all the time. But that is more being taken prisoner the being a slave.

Get Overwolf and film your self playing. See if you can capture it next time. Its really the only way to make a serous case. Even if you don't get the name of the person, the evidence that there is "cheating" going on there and will be there for the devs to see. Then it would be harder to ignore or write off, they will have to address it somehow. I have seen cheaters at work my self, and have been a victim of it. Its not that common for me to see it though. I really only seen clear as day cheating or hacking a couple of times since I have been playing. There were other times I suspected it but wasn't quite sure. Many others have seen it too. I know for a fact it does exist, but you really have to have the evidence.
-
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Can you provide a film? If not next time you see it film it, because other wise it dose not go far. Also try to get peoples steam names. That's really your best shot at making any kind of case. I do know that many players get frustrated with DayZ SA because it is really unforgiving and often is not fair. DayZ is meant to be that way it survival of the fittest. Now we must not confuse this. But if you really did see some shady stuff in game try to film it. It does happen, and I also would like to see it gone too. Its really the only way to make a case and get something done about it.

Here on the forums some people tend to repeat things they hear, sort of lump everything into on category and stereotype. With really even knowing what they are seeing. Lets be clear, "hackers" or "Cheaters" are a pretty small % of players who play DayZ SA, that have make a big enough impact to get noticed. They down load really shady "Mall Ware" and "Spy ware", and put there own CPU surcurity at risk just so they can cheat. The 3 main hacks are "AimBot" allowing for really easy aiming. "Esp" which allows the 2 see every player and item with in 800 meters. There is "Teli port" which allows really fast movements across the map know as "Map Glitchers".Because when they are moving it looks they glitch, and it almost looks like a game bug. Theres a few others floating around on shady websites. This "Hacking" or "Cheating" is really bad for all party's involved. But it really is a pretty small group who does it. The AKM and M4 high cap mags commonly get confused with hacking, because players are ably to shoot and shoot with out reloading. 60 and 70 rounds in one mag is allot of trigger time. Now with that said, lets not get into blaming every death you cant explain on hackers. Don't just cry hacker every time you can't figure out why you died, because maybe your just not that good at the game yet and really need to spend more time playing and learning. Lets stick to the facts! Unless you know for a fact it was a hacker, got it on film, don't just start blaming. Because it confuses the REAL issue, that the people making this game are really are working on fixing.

I'm kind of the same way in regards to KOS. I really don't set out to just shoot other players for no reason. But at military spawns or high value spawns I am much less likely to try take my chances with people. I also feel that I'm not really a hero or bandit, but a survivor or survivalist too If I'm even to have a label in game. I play always in the grey area, and treat each encounter different. Seeing the reality's of the stand alone, I'm far more impressed with someone that can keep his or her avatar alive and healthy for long periods of time. For weeks even month's. Is able to survive danger time and time again, and is a really good at tactics when they do pvp. Then someone who just sets out to shoot other players, and that's there primary focus. I'm just not impressed by it at all. After shooting other players my self, I rarely felt rewarded for it unless it was a real challenging situation. I just don't care really because I know the person on the other end will just have to re-spawn, and the only real harm I'm causing them is to there ego if they choose to let it get to them. I generally don't care if I get shot either, because it bound to happen at some point. If I have had a long life in game and die, I feel satisfied that well I did good on that life in game. Next time I want to try to survive even longer. That's just me. DayZ SA has game play freedom.

I find it really interesting how these 1st kill threads keep popping up. Maybe I have been playing pvp games too long, but Its really not a big deal for me at all to take another player out or be taken out in DayZ SA or any other pvp game for that matter. The 1st time I killed another players avatar I remember thinking, "he fell over just like they fell over in ARMA 2.......whats with all the blood". Almost reminded me of the movie kill bill hahaha. I really was not that excited about it, prob because just before I started playing DayZ I was playing Iron Front and ARMA 2. I don't feel anything when I shot other players......because its not REAL! I just don't care LOL There no score card anyways! Don't get butt hurt about getting shot neither...... its all part of the game. I have been on TS many times with other people and heard people getting really excited, start freaking out, get really mad or scared and even yelling. I find it bizarre, and distracting. The only time I get any real emotional reaction from DayZ is laughing my ass off cause some funny shit happens in DayZ or when zombies sneak up on me. I then feel really annoyed, and sometimes it really pisses me off. PESTS! LOL As far as pvp in DayZ goes I'm pretty technical and usually focusing really hard on situational awareness. Which is not easy sometimes. I will say one thing that DayZ does really well better then many other games I have seen. It really does a good job of showing the "Fog of War", or confusion that comes in combat ect ect. I think it makes for a really intense simulation for some people. Its meant to do that by design. I think for many people it may vary well be the reason it seems like big deal to take out another player for the 1st time......

Bolata is a great place to loot. But be careful there. Ya see the problem with Bolata is its right on the coast. Directly north of the air strip theres a sniper hill and at the top of it several high rises that are great places for snipers to fire out of. If you take fire, its hard to get out of. If there are people camping it is deadly. But isn't every where lol Also for some reason lately it seems to be a more zombies spawn there then normal, but I have not been there sense right before .45 patch so this may have changed. As far as pvp goes I think it has died down there, and the current fad is to pvp on the east coast. So my last few passes through there were quite....but knowing this nutty game we play I would take that with a grain of salt. The ATC, barracks and PD are pretty good. Really my fav part of Bolata is not the airstrip it self. But the Tent city right south of it on the road. Long range scope seem to spawn there almost every time, and there's tons of other military gear that spawns there. Its dam near as good as NWAF. NEAF is my least fav airfield for finding gear, kind of skimpy there. Although .46 it looks like NEAF is getting re done so this may all change. When I say this I'm talking military gear. If you get a spawn near electro, it really just minutes away if you haul ass, But if you spawn more north, just go to NEAF there's also K town and the new town NW of NEAFand the new city NW of NEAF. which is a great looting spot. Or get just enough to live off of to get there.

It really amazes me how people inject ethics into these conversations, or making a big deal about shooting another player. There is no ethics in DaySA currently or a score card. The term "Bandit" or "Hero" is really lose term that spilled over from Day MOD were it was a player status. Now its just used to either make player feel good about him self or demonize someone he or she is shooting at. I do not care to use the term "Hero" or "Bandit" in DayZs current state because there is no mechanic for it currently. It also is just a game, no one really gets hurt....well except egos. I have played this game for a few months and seen quite a few different scenarios were I shot other players, beat them with fists, axes, even a fire extinguisher once....lol... was shot my self, captured people ect ect ect ect Both in a clan and out of clan solo. I have died more times then I care to count. I have also shot other players more times then I can count. Its pretty routine. It means nothing to me, and hearing exploits of other player shooting other players does not impress me anymore. What impresses me is a player who is able to survive for weeks even months playing. There ability to survive danger and handle ones self. DayZ SA is a survival game to me most of all.

Hi, Yesterday I was wondering around in the forests over on the east coast and decided to try hunting out. I waited in the woods for around to 10 minutes and saw nothing, then went over a hill and scanned with my Mosin. at the bottom of the hill about 300 meters out I saw a buck! I sighted in and fired 1 shot and down he went. I then using caution walked up to him, to skin this fine animal. I then noticed, "oh crap" all I have is an axe. No dice. I had everything I needed to cook the meat, stove matches, gas canister ect. But to my dismay I had forgot to to loot some sort of knife. I then looked at my inventory, and noticed I had pretty much everything I need to survive, can opener, compass, food water guns, ammo box filled to the gills ect. That's when it poped into my mind. For those of use who prefer not carry a giant mountain back pack and prefer say a hunter or improvised setup. We may not be able to carry every thing we need to survive, but just enough, unless we can find more several protective cases to maximize space. That's when I thought, wow wouldn't a multi tool be cool to have or a swiss army knife. You can open cans, cut meat, use at as a screw driver, a file, fight if you have too with it and the list goes one. When I was in the service I had a really good Leatherman multi tool, and never went anywhere in the field with out it. But this item should be a rare drop. Also I would like multi roles hunting knife. Also another item we used a in the service that would be a great add is the "E-tool". Its a small folding shovel used that was multi roled. It could be used as a hammer, a dull cutting tool, a shovel, brush clearing "maybe in dayz cutting down small bushes" and it was a great hand to hand weapon if needed proven in combat, I'm sure the Russians have a version as well. This would be great to see in game as well. In the .45 patch, there of course hunting and fishing added, and a way for player now to choose if they prefer to survive off the grid, and avoid towns to just survive in the woods. Or continue to venture into towns, if you prefer it. There are more options and this is cool! With this though I'm seeing the need for more survival tools. Keep in mind I want to see these as rarer drops, something you have to hunt around the map for and not just get in one of the coastal spawn towns. I also would love to see more improvised items, but that is a another thread. Thanks for reading!

Add a Rare Drop Multi Tool or Swiss Army Knife and a "E-Tool"
CJFlint replied to CJFlint's topic in Suggestions
E-Tools can more then likely be bought at a surplus store but are ment for infantry or ground combat units, and a multi tool any sporting goods store really But do to there multiple uses and small size, I do think they should be rare. Maybe only spawn in high value areas like barracks maybe. Due to the maps size and amount of players on server it should rare, or a harder to find item. Other wise it would defeat the perpose of some of the other tools. E-Tools really are vary common issue items in military units. But I really never see them in any military sim, or game in general. More then likely there really is no need for a tool like that in a CPU game, other then to just dig in or hand to hand, which in military SOP is a last resort. But do to DayZ SAs nature of running on military engine, yet being a survival game. Were in the future from all looks of it will be a way more crafting, hunting and improvising. It would have a real place. Same goes for a multi tool or Swiss Army Knife. After the 4.5 patch, I have to say if it keeps going this way. DayZ will be one hell of a survival simulator. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
CJFlint replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Hopping is going to happen though, they can only cut down on it with the timer. To me its in the grey area of cheating, when used for the soul reason to shoot another player. With Team Speak and team play its pretty common for players to move around on a lighter server to get right were they want, then log in on the heavy server were there team mates right were they are needed. In fact its pretty routine for clans or teams to do this. This does not count as hacking, hacking is something much different -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
CJFlint replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
I fell victim to a hacker about 2 weeks ago, and then just the other day as well. So 2 times that I know of. There is part of me that is amazed and part of me that is quite frankly alarmed that they get away with it. I guess even "Frankie" was even attacked and killed by a map glitching hacker. There also tons of youtube videos popping showing these "cheaters" or "hackers" in game. This is becoming a pretty big issue for DayZ SA I decided to do a bit of research to find out exactly what is behind all this "hacking". 1st off I don't think most of these people should be called hackers, they should be called cheaters. Hackers are innovative really smart people who are vary CPU savy, that operate on the fringes of the law or are down right bad guys. Most of these people we see in game are simply using 3rd party software that someone else made to crack into the game. Much like a mod. There's "aimbot", "esp", "teleport" and a new one to disarm people. There's a few websites out there were people can join and get them. Here's the kicker. The people doing this "hacking" or "cheating" have no idea how much risk there putting there own real life presonal info in. I have read that some of these "hack" programs these people are using are what are known as "Mall ware" and "Trogan Horse" software, really shady stuff. Meaning you want to cheat and use cheat programs, your giving up your IP and allowing someone else to have it and this someone else is anyone's guess. So some of these people will pay a heavy price at the end, just so they can cheat in a game. Ya see REAL hackers make these 3rd party programs, and cheater use them and put them selves and there privacy in complete risk in the real world. Its like giving a thief the keys to your house and betting he will not rob you. Its lose lose for everyone involved, it really is. I really strongly feel that the developers really need to get a handle on this stuff, before this gets more out of control then it all ready is. It can be really bad for DayZ SA if this continues in it current path, from all looks of it its getting worse and worse. So it maybe worth taking some time off from making DaySA and address these threats. Also it wrecks the game. Its already difficult survival game, were players have to really have to learn and try hard the game to be able to survive. It does get easier over time. The line between your avatar being alive or dead in game is really thin at times. The price of dieing in game is fairly high. So when you got these people running around with all these spyware cheat programs, shooting people and screwing up peoples games it makes it seem not worth even trying. Its also really discouraging for new players as well. It goes against every thing the game is about. Go play another game if you want to do that. -
Cap'n great you brought this up. The reality is there really is a history and story line behind Chenrarus. It was in ARMA2. Its vary much based off a post cold war Soviet break away state. Vary much like Chechnya or Ukraine. Also bohemian games has a long line of military games taking place in eastern euro or russia, taking place in the cold war and post cold war. There was the OFP series and the ARMA series, all had what I though were really good techno thriller story lines. Although many just liked the multi player. All of these games were open source and mod a ble. Some of you guys remember were all this 1st came from but here some videos from the 1st OFP, which is a true pc game classic. A really well done game for its time, it was epic. This is were it all started, it was what years latter evolved into ARMA 2 then Dayz mod then dayz sa. There's a part of me that would like to see OFP cold war crisis remade, but with all the new gaming tech. As far as CHR and role playing goes, I think my CHR is just some poor local rebel fighter who spent years fighting off the Ruskis then ended up in the Zombie apoc just to be killed by hackers lol or falling off a ladder, you pick.
-
Hey, 2 or 3 times since .45 patch I have had my CHR wiped. Has anyone else seen this? Is there anything I can do to keep it from happening? I pretty much went to a safe place to log out and logged back in my CHR was wiped. I know there are some pretty OPed zombies LOL but this has happened a like a few times now.

Looting wise. Balota tents and airfield are asome places to loot. I visit there every life to gear up. I also like the furthest southwest military base thats in the woods. NEAF really only has a limited amount of stuff compared to other mil bases or the other 2 airfields, unless .45 has new stuff I don't know about yet. I make pass through there almost every time I respawn as a fresh spawn. But NWAF is a great place to loot, you can get everything you need in one pass. All the cool kids now days like to pvp on the east coast now days. Its funny how the heavy pvp areas switch over time. But you know what I completely content with that, because its nice to gear up in peace on my terms, then go pvp in the NE on my terms. It all works out :)

I read the wiki page on this new cz 527, and it looks like we have another new long range over sniper/hunting rifle coming. Vary cool! 7.62 hopefully! We also have the bad ass SVD coming too, I really enjoy sharp shooting so this it will be nice to see more options out side of the mosin. Looking forward to it!

I think the whole "hero" or "bandit" thing comes from the DayZ mod and the language sort of spilled over into DaySA. In the mod it was a tag you would get for helping or shooting other players for there loot. There is a score card in DayZ mod, so there was a game of ethics. In DayZ SA there is no way of keeping track of anything. The game has no rules, laws, scoreboard or anything, its how well your doing moment to moment. Its also a recipe for people to be A-holes to each other period. There are no real rewards in DayZ SA currently other then just surviving, gearing and the thrill of pvp. So for me DayZ SA is not at all about ethics period. I don't see hero's or bandits, I see a game were its about survival and keeping your CHR alive, healthy and well geared as long as possible. And if you get into pvp try to have a good kill ratio. I see it vary much as a survival game period. The way I look at itIf you are armed and make no effort to make contact or show your friendly, I will consider you to be a threat that is getting in the way of me surviving. No questions asked. Depending weather I feel I have the advantage I will either kill, hide or flee. If someone makes a real effort to say show they are friendly then I will let them be. To me the whole "Hero" or "Bandit" thing is absurd in SA. Its just some really lose wishy washy unspoken rule. Its also a title people like to give them selves to make them selves feel better about them selves or a way of demonizing someone they are shooting at. Completely absurd. It just does not apply here, you have to treat every encounter different and be flexible. It took me a few months to come to this conclusion. I was what I thought to be a "hero", and tried to help others. The reality is you become a bullet sponge. I have handed people food just for them to come back and try to kill me. I have also had fresh spawns try to attack me after I tried to help them and was forced to shot them, several times. Being pinned down and ambushed is normal SOP. The reality is more then likely people you meet randomly are not friendly and will try to pull some kind of crap with you. There are some who are friendly. So I do not find this "hero" play style to be fun in the games current form. In fact I think its a pointless foolish endeavor in the games current state. When there is no incentive or score to be nice or bad for that matter. I do not find shooting fresh spawns for no reason fun. Or shooting a player who is clearly not posing a threat. That's even lamer. So I deal with people one encounter at a time one situwation at a time. Thinking of it as a survival simulator were anything goes keeps it really fun and interesting for me. Surviving one moment at a time.

My steam will not auto update .44 to .45. I checked the settings it seems to be set to auto update, will not download the .45 update. I have restarted steam several times, still no go. There has been no sign of any down loading or updates steam either. So I am unable to log on to any server. Is there a way to manually update DayZ SA? Or trick steam into auto updating?

Going to give that a try thanks for the info
