List of things that bug me when playing DayZ
CJFlint replied to Evil Minion's topic in General Discussion
So true. I learned this my self, low ping servers have much less game play bugs and issues. The one were you press a assignment key, and nothing happens...That only happens to me on high ping servers. So when sellecting a server I shot for 50 ping and below...no higher then 65. Lower then 50 DayZ works perfect, above it is were more and more lag realated issues happen the higher you go. Ping is vary important when sellecting a server to play on. So its not really setting you need to worry about, just what the ping is. DayZ SA was more effected by ping after .47 hit stable, before I was able to play on higher ping servers, now I have to really watch it. -
This isn't adding more of a challenge, this idea would be adding more of a pain in the ass. When we say we want challenge we mean WHILE WERE PLAYING LOL Im not trying to be a jerk or anything like that. But when I play I play period, when Im loged off I loged off. I do not want to come back and my CHR is half dead or a fresh spawn because I have a real life and wasn't able to log in for 2 days. Some of us have jobs, spouces some even kids...Some of us are fucking busy. Sounds like a recipe for a mass exit. When I log out we have to sellect a good spot to log out, then a 30 second timer. Then when return our CHR is exactly how we left him or her. Thats good enough. But its all good and no hard feelings, I encourage ideas on here. But if they are not going to work and no one likes it, then so be it. Its all part of creative process I supose. One of the forum admins said rocket tried this out, and it failed.

I think when I'm playing I'm playing...I don't like this idea at all. I'm a busy man and sometimes take days off from gaming. So not signed. And no your not "hard core" for coming up with this idea. But......this idea maybe applying presist items it would be interesting. Leaving items laying on the ground say like a gun, come back a couple days down the road and its rusty...or plants dieing or doing well..... and stuff like that.

You should try out Arma 2 mod Chenarus Life. Its the same engine but not in a zombie apoc. It's pretty like cops and robbers, and has all the mechanics for it. In fact there are a quite abit of mods for ARMA 2, that are quite good. DayZ Mod was a super popular one, so popular they made the SA. But theres tons of other ones. The even have a Vietnam one, and I saw someone was working on a WW1 super mod.....there already is a WW2 one...Then theres Iron Front which is a great game. These ideas you have are not bad, its just not the game for it. In the world of Dayz its a complete break down of goverment, rules, society ect ect. Its a apoc. It should have no rules and completely up to the player to decide how they want to play and how they want survive. Complete game play freedom with no safe zones. It should be complete anarchy. I dont even want to see trading npc's. The whole map should be a pvp hot zone. I also think the spawn points should be all over the map not just the east coast. Leave it up to the player to decide wether they want to be good or bad....or maybe there is no just good or bad anymore...its all grey. This is a post apoc simulator period with perma death and everywhere is a pvp zone. Players must either learn how to survive or get used to being a fresh spawn. Sink or swim. Kos epedemic LOL hahaha. Welcome to dayz.

Ok....DayZ SA spawned from Arma 2, which came from the Operation Flashpoint series. These are some of the best combat sims ever. It is not a lottery, in fact Arma series is based off real small unit infantry tactics. Is it buggy in dayz on high ping servers yes. Is there lag on high ping servers yes. But its not a lottery. You may be suffering from a latency or ping related issue...or it maybe possible that you still have some learning to do...I don't know you so I will not pass judgement. From what you wrote also it maybe vary well be the server you were on had hackers on it. Berenzino is were they spoted from time to time. The person that ran at you from "4000mph" sounds like a hacker. Using the teleport cheat. The good news is if this was hackers you saw, there not that common...infact rare. If it really was hackers you saw then it is not a lotery that just plain cheating on there part and shame on them. Lately when I hear whats sounds like an m4 rattling off 1000s of rounds....more rounds then anyone in game could carry...or see someone zig zaging and glitching all over the map...I just log off the server. In fact racently I was camping Novo up on a hill and I heard allot of shoting going on in Novo then heard an M4 going nuts like were talking hunderds of rounds...more that seemed posible with games current mechanics. Even more so seeing there are much harder to find. My gut said stay and see what happens...my better judgement took over and I just loged out. Becuase if they have unlimted ammo, they probably have teleport and esp. They have the upper hand in every way. Its pretty lame feel the need to cheat.

Good point! -
Leg + arm broke ramdomly cant do anything
CJFlint replied to brownie1992's topic in General Discussion
All you need is an axe and some rags. Crawl to a tree. stand up and chop it down. Then you will see a log appear. Craft the logs into sticks. Then use the rags to turn the sticks into a splint. This also fixes "leg in pain" as well. If yor have a morphine you can use that too....I tend to save those for a last resort. Edit sorry Cabose didnt see you already posted splint option. -
DayZ is something in its own category. I think there is misunderstanding of what PvE and PvP means. PvE means you are playing by yourself or with other players and there is no chance of other players attacking you or vs. versa.....None. PvP is means your player vs player, open season on other players. The entire reason for it is to fight other players. DayZ is PvP and PvE both. Anywhere you go in DayZ other players can attack you at any time. There are no safe zones. But if you tend to play on light servers, the chances of being attacked are much less. But the threat is still there. So unless you have your own server by yourself, it is not really a true "PvE" game at all. Case in point. I used to play Pirates of The Burning Sea...a MMORPG. It had pvp zones on the map were people would fight each other, unless you were in one of those zones, or in a skirmish or duel it was pretty much a pve game. It was vary clear were could fight other players and were you could not. DayZ SA once your in the game pvp can happen anywhere, same with pve for that matter. There is no serpration

No one want to play because of the reset...
CJFlint replied to kircheschm's topic in General Discussion
2 3rds of my steam freinds list are dayz players....lately I have only seen one or 2 on. Everyone seems bugged out or in a holding to play dayz again. -
No one want to play because of the reset...
CJFlint replied to kircheschm's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I started to think it was a rumor, becuase I havn't played experimental this patch and did not remember seeing the warning. I think this means the 10th....hopefully. -
No one want to play because of the reset...
CJFlint replied to kircheschm's topic in General Discussion
Who cares really. Part of the fun for me in day z is starting fresh, running around the map gearing up gathering then keeping my avatar alive keeping my avatar alive as long as posible....its what makes DayZ....DayZ. I really enjoy it for just as much as pvp. Then you live as long as you can, pvp or what ever, die and do it all over again. Everytime I do it its different. Its a perma death game, my avatar has a terminal illness (reset). If it wasn't for all that well it would be just arma 2 -
No one want to play because of the reset...
CJFlint replied to kircheschm's topic in General Discussion
So this means possibly the 10th of sept, well ok then we have to reset, we will se what happens. Does it state this on stable to or just exp? I would prefer not, but I kind of don't care either way that much...Gearing up is I have done more times then I can count, Im kind of become a DayZ hoarder. Looks like someone collecting parts for a mosin :) -
No one want to play because of the reset...
CJFlint replied to kircheschm's topic in General Discussion
I might be wrong, I'm beginning to think it’s just some sort of rumor. I looked through the .49 notes and there was nothing said about it what so ever. I also could find anything official stating a reset will happen or heard anything. I hope this whole reset thing is not just like the 14 page rant thread; it’s just some out of control speculation due to the dev. team not really talking about what they are doing. Growing pains of a prerelease. If I’m wrong about this can someone please post an link to were the developers are officaily talking about doing this? -
Making me feel really old.....and I think this game is alittle bit mature for 12 year olds...right? Anyhow. Much of the time younger players tend to be quicker on there toes with games. But whats crazy is that does not appear to be the case in Dayz, from what I seen. I think much of this is because in order to survive in dayz for more then a few hours you have to think like an adult. Like being able to plan, knowing when to get into an engagement when not too, navagation, how to survive ect ect. I know I know it comes really easy for those of us who have played for 300 hours plus, but maybe not easy at all for new players for super young players. This isn't COD. I'm sure there are exceptions, in fact there are some super young kids that are vary smart for there age. Heres an example that sums up almost every encounter with kids (that should not be playing this game)LOL. I while back I was running down by east of electro heading east around the bend on a meduim pop. I was armed at the time with an M4. I suddenly saw a a some what new spawn with a bright red shirt with some items, and then a voice....sound like a kid! I told him to please keep his distance. He put up his fists and then tried to attack me, saying really childish imature stuff. I then shot him. I remember thinking, "WTF did he do that for!?". Thats shows lake of judgement that he did not seem to have yet LOL but no hard feeling to him I'm sure he will grow up to do wonderful things.

Well private servers I have know idea, its really up to who evers hosting I guess. But you know exactly what I'm talking about. Before .47 we high ping servers were somewhat functional. After .47 high ping wrecks game play to the point it just not playble. Its easly corrected, just don't go on high ping servers, no if you can't find one theres a another issue that needs to be looked into.
-
Hello Boneboys, If you read the post that started this 13 page "ranting" thread, it’s because a player is upset about bugs. I personally have seen the exact same bugs and for quite a while was quite frustrated by them, which turned into a little bit of a resentment toward the games. But I really wanted to get back to playing, so I experimented and did some forum research to figure out what might fix some of these issues. 90% of the bugs were related to "HIGH PING" and server bandwidth. I know this because ever since I started going on 65 ping and below servers all those game glitches went away...stuff like zombies that invisible, zombies going through walls, disappearing items ect ect ect. In fact on lower ping servers the only bug I saw was the weird pitter patter noise while running crouched not aimed in. So much of these bugs are not really bugs, they are ping issues. The problem no one from the DayZ staff has explained this to the players, or at least not enough. They are left to figure this out on their own. Which as we can see here allot of them haven’t which I don't think is there fault. I think you guys should make an effort to let everyone know, otherwise we get these stupid 13 page threads that was originated from seriously easy to fix game play issues. After .47 stable DayZ became much more effected by ping. Just letting you know.
-
DON'T LOG ONTO SERVERS WITH HIGH PING!!!! IT WILL SOLVE 90% OF YOUR GAME PLAY ISSUES!!! :beans:  NOW SHUT YOUR CAKE HOLES AND GET BACK IN THERE.....  IT CORRECTS 90% OF THE BUGS THE PERSON WHO STARTED THIS THREAD LISTED......em k THE REST IS JUST MINOR ISSUES.
-
Hey Rouge Hunter and others that are having game issues, You know I experienced some pretty nasty bugs my self. More so after the .47 release then .48. It can be frustrating and no one really explains how to fix it for the dev team. Prob because they are trying to figure it out them selves. But in the last week just through messing around and exp I can figured out how to have functional fun game play..DayZ SA does work, those issues have more to do with servers and server ping then anything I swear. What I found is that large % of it is caused by high ping, I'm 100% certian. I noticed on 50 ping and below the game works much more smooth. So recently I have been watching ping like a hawk and it is helpful. I think that the buggy zombies and everything else gets effected. When I go onto lower ping servers the zombies preform more like they should, controls are nice smooth, I can put items on the ground NP. Zombie path find, don't go through walls ect ect and are easy to deal with. When I go on a server that has say maybe 80 or 90 ping thats when I start running into issues. High ping makes the game almost seem completly broken, and zombies do not act like they should. Slow responding controls, items disapearing ect ect ect ect. It's becuase the connection from you to the server is not send information back and forth fast enough, which distorts your game play really badly. Thats the best I can explain it. As far as hearing zombies screaming when known are around that is "global" sounds, cans opening, ammo loading ect ect. I'm not sure why those are there. There is also the broken pitter patter sound when your running crouched aimed not aimed in. Aimed in or weapon up and it goes aways. Honestly on 50 and below server those are the only bugs I notice that much. Also "persist on" servers I have been staying off of..Only normal ones I log onto. But honestly bro, just reading through your listed problems it sounds much like it is high ping. I know this because I seen it before. Try always going on 50 and below servers for now on...max of 60...70 at the most. I felt the same way you felt a couple weeks ago, but It's vary playable.

Starting to think I'm too nice of a player.
CJFlint replied to OptimumVision's topic in General Discussion
Let me make something really clear for you....In dayz it is hard to trust anymone you meet randomly. Let alone Airfeilds and Military Bases they are KOS areas period. When I go into military areas if I see someone I shot or flee. I treat everyone in those areas as hostile, unless I'm in TS with them or some how know them. I certainly am not giving them ammo. My 1st month playing I learned 80% to 90% of players I ment randomly did not have my best intentions in mind what so ever. They are either noobs that will get you killed just out of pure stupidity or it some sort of set up. Theres KOSers, or people that are paraniod that will shot at the 1st impression there is a threat. Theres also tons of trolls that play that like dicking with people..everyone wants to be a morgan freeman or frankie. Then you got your so called "hero" players...they will try in help other player, which much of the time results in them being shot. I tip my hat to them. Maybe when the game has better mechanics and some sort stats system..people will appreciate that play style more and add insentive to play that style. So I just have a I don't trust a mofo policy and found that my avatar lives much longer. I also learned that if you really want freinds to play with or meet people join a clan or reach out to a group of people that play to together on Team Speak. Its much easier that way. -
Positive posts only: what feature are you looking forward to

In the short term I want to see the SVD rifle. -
Got my first two PVP kills in dayZ today.
CJFlint replied to OptimumVision's topic in General Discussion
I some times have large gaps of time were I don't kill anyone. Some times a week or more, then theres gaps of time were I don't even play. Im so fucking cuatous these days I practicly have to look for trouble. Then there are times were its none stop pvp. I can relate sometimes the pvp gets really intence and super fun. High Octane pvp. My 1st kill was a mercy kill LOL some player ran up to me and asked me to kill him so he could respawn LOL My combat kill I killed player that was harassing me with a fire exstinguisher haha About 2 months ago I had day of pvp I'll never forget in DayZ in an apartment building in barizino. My group had been running around in the streets moving from one building next. We were slowly getting picked off and getting in fire fights left and right. Half the group logged off, people were getting shot. I came up with the idea....lets take over an apartment building and snipe out it. So we did. I took up the top floor other player in the group watched the stairs. With in 1 hour I shot 4 or 5 players dead, and fired at serveral others. But it didn't take long for people to figure us out though. Players started spawning in our building LOL we were drawing allot of attention and fire. There were players shooting at us from the 2 apartment buildings across the street too LOL so it turned into this masive gun fight....so much fun...The best part that gave me the most satisfaction and confidence boost...was all the pvp we saw that day I survived with out a scratch. The vary next night I was shot through a window up in kelm...and died..I was not able to recover my gear so I had to start from scratch..DayZ has a way of bursting that ego really fast LOL But what I really took from that day, is the mosin with long range..can be fucking deadly in game if used properly. It became one of my vary favarote rifles in the game from that day forward. They say its nerfed now....I think its still effective. -
The thing about DayZ we both know is it comes from ARMA which came from OFP. These engines In are some of the best military sim engines available for us gamer's. So by nature it will have a good combat combat system so I don't think we have to worry. DayZ SA so I think on its current course will have a really good combat system, sandbox system and survival system if they keep there shit together. But they have much work ahead of them. When I say survival in this thread it goes for everything intense combat survival, surviving off the land or how ever, health, 1st aid. I really want it all. Complete game play freedom in an post apoc eastern euro hell hole LOL.. So the more options the better. So maybe not completely like cod...a combat survival sim is more what I thinking. The thing about dayz that bugs me more then anything right now is bugs. I really hope at the min at the end of development it will run close to seem less. I think if it all works out DayZ SA will have room for lots of different play styles. I think it will be interesting for sure. Bandits and Highway men make it interesting...same with some crazy fucker who lives up in the hills hunting bears...or heros too...from the sounds of it there will farming for god sakes. If people want to call me a KOSer that's there biz...I just know DayZ and know its hard to trust people out in the open map. I had shit pulled on me enough times and seen enough to know don't trust people that you randomly meet. I'm quick to start shooting if someone is running around with weapon out. Or flee even. I don't bother taking my chances.
-
You know what Mr Zod, I don't take my chances with any random person I meet in game period. If I see someone in my general area with a gun out or weapon...even pointed down and I dont even bother with voice com anymore what so ever I consider them hostile...I shot them or flee. I'm not getting dicked around by people. Ive played dayZ for a while and know most random strangers are not freindly LOL Wanna be my buddy hit me up on steam or team speak or at the min have the gun out of them hands LOL I serously dont consider my self a KOSer...more a DayZ player that knows better. So in since I understand what your saying, maybe I just have a slightly different perspective. Play how ever you like
-
It is part of the survival system still being developed. You know I'm willing to bet the water we can get out of those green colored ponds, will not be clean for long lol. Almost evey 1st aid kit has water purity tabs. I agree for the most part its not complete and still crude. I sure it will get more challenging down the road. I def want to see more veribles and in .49 we sill see weather effects, and even wolfs..possibly bears. Speaking of hunting being easy....I found prob 20 cows, out in a feild the other day....Some parts of the map there is no sign of animals whats so ever. But I found were all the cows hang out lol Free stakes bitches! Serously though I think the whole SA is still early on I'm somewhat confident we will see a lot more features.

I have only seen what I was pretty certain was hackers only a few time since I have been playing the SA. 2 times I'm pretty sure of. They are rare but out there. Most of us are not dumb enough to put malware cheat soft ware on there PCs, just to cheat in a game that has no score board......just don't get it. Death by Crowbar pretty much listed most of the known hacks that are seen. I did some research to find out what's behind all this "hacking" a few months ago. What I discovered was these "hackers" really should just be called cheaters. They are using 3rd party software what is known as "Mal Ware" like "esp" and the like. These programs are not at all like mods, its serous bad news stuff. These programs are made by real hackers. In a nut shell if you want use one of these "hacks" your giving up your IP address. Then the hackers will enject key logger and god knows what else onto your system. So these people who cheat in Dayz may pay a vary heavy price at the end. Complete loss of privacy and digital theft. Its the truth. Don't do it, don't mess with that type of stuff. You may as well hand someone you don't know whos quite shady the keys to your house and hoping nothing will happen. In DayZ I just don't understand why people want to cheat....the game has no badges or score card....or leader board theres no way of keeping track...must be just low self self worth. Or they just like wrecking other people's fun and challenge... Whats the point...I just dont get it.
