Artic weather would be cool to see. Would be pretty harsh for a new spawn though. You got 5 mintues to find a warm close and start a fire.......or you DIE LOL. The bitching on the forums would reach truely epic levels!
-
I think the temp system took me a little time to figure out to be honest, but really its just common since. Your cold find a jacket, dress for the cold. If it starts raining stay out of it for the most part unless you have a jacket that can keep you dry or you plan on starting a fire to warm back up, once you get to were you need to go. Pretty simple. Although I will say being a fresh spawn with nothing, your in a more cridical situation then before. Thats when its the hardest to deal with. Once you have the proper gear the temp is a none issue. I do think the rain is a little heavy handed though, I did get hypothermic after really only playing for 15 minutes, when I 1st started on the new patch. But I adapted and learned just stay out of it, until it stops If I dont have a way of staying dry. Or want to have to resort to starting a fire. In theory a gas stove could warm you back up too. Although I have not tried it yet. But the reality it take much more time then that to become hypothermic just from rain exposer. I mean it would have to be a complete down pour of freezing rain of freezing rain to even come close. Really that the only issue I saw with it, and it really isn't that big if one. Over all its a good add to the game, but I think needs some minor tweaking mainly with the rain.

For those of you that have lost faith in DayZ...
CJFlint replied to pabloottawa's topic in General Discussion
Heres the thing people have to understand including the developers about complaining here on the DayZ forums. You have to have a bull shit filter. There is real issues and people who bring them. Like latter bugs, ping issues and so forth. There is some minor broken mechanics in the game, but none of them in my eyes are a game killer. DayZ is totally play able. In fact I was one for a few hours and other then having long wait times to get onto servers, I encountered zero issue. Its running better then ever. Im serously not seeing any problems with DayZ SA other then having to wait a while before spawning in. So much of the complaining about "hackers" ect ect ect. Is quite honestly frustrated players, who quite frankly just dont know how to play effectively. Its hard for some people to take getting shot dead, after collecting gear for several hours. DayZ is a vary unforgiving game, and its perma death. Meaning you die, you have to start all over again. For some people it is a real blow to them to die. Some get really pist about it. Believe me I have heard the bitching on TS. There is also people who have zero understanding of small unit tactics, or infantry tactics, even in a vary basic since. They get shot and have no idea were it came from, so instantly to them it was a hacker. When the reality was it was someone who was well hidden several hundered meters away from were they are. There is real skill involved in DayZ in order to survive for a long period of time. I'm not talking light servers, I'm talking servers mid to high pop servers. There is learning involved %50 of it is real world common since, knowlege of basic infactry skills and survival skill. The other 50 is understanding of the game mechanics, were things are on the map ect ect. The game for players that have played a while and learned how to survive seems easy. But you have to understand there are people who have a real hard time grasping it. But instead of bitching on the forums, learn how to play. Serously. So it can some time s be hard to tell who really does have a legit complaint and who is just crying about something they dont quite understand, but have to much pride to admit it. Its so true. -
Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?
CJFlint replied to GriefSlicer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I don't give a shit if you rob people and will you not give crap about it. Just make sure you get a clean head shot other wise all there crap will be ruined. If that's how you play I don't give 2 shits. Just stay out my way, last guy in game try too pull shit with me got a whole 45 mag emptied out on him. Your not taken my shit there cheif. -

CJFlint replied to GriefSlicer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Hackers are the are the real assholes......But the truth is hackers are pretty rare. I have only seen maybe a couple of them I was sure were hackers. The funny thing is many people cry "Hacker! Hacker" because they don't understand why they were shot, basic infantry tactics ect ect. The reality is the person who shot you may have been 800 meters away up on a hill hidden under a tree completely out of site. That's not cheating what so ever. or even exploiting. That's skill its really is. There is so much mis understanding of the reality's of this game really is or the mechanics behind it. Bottom line is DayZ SA when you take away the zombies, and survival stuff...its a military simulator that stems from ARMA 2. There are no mechanics for ethics in DayZ. There's no mechanics weather your a hero or bandit. No score board. In fact much of these terms like KOS, Bandit or Hero is just spill off terms from the mod. All these terms are made up by players....that's it! Move beyond the hype. So cut this KOS shit out and bandit this and bandit that bullshit. Hero my ass...."hero" type play style suffer the worst. They are nothing more then bullet sponges in the Stand Alone. They try to help people just to get shot in the back...happens all of the time. Some of them get shot 2 3 times a play session. There is zero reward for it, other then you "help" someone out in a game with no ethics what so ever. Well hats off to them. Its all made up play styles...no one says you have to play that way. My advice is Adapt. Learn the mechanics of the game. Learn to avoid KOSers and people who play "bandit" play styles. Get the drop on them 1st...if possible. Don't use this Bandit, Hero and KOS this and KOS that as excuse. If you get shot dont have hard feelings about just re spawn and try again. Everyone had to do it. Take a break and play a different game if it gets to you. Just a dam game! End of rant! -
Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?
CJFlint replied to GriefSlicer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
If you shoot on sight why do you do it? I prefer the saying not taking my chances not KOS. I have learned over time, around 80% of random players I meet are either hostile are planing on dicking around. There simply no point in me taking my chances with anyone and losing all my gear I spent days collect. Plain and simple If I see with weapon in hand, to me your hostile period. If a player has no weapon in hand and fails to voice com freindly I will shot and I will not make the 1s effort to make contact period. If they make an effort to say "Freindly" I will not shoot but keep my distance, making the encounter breif as posible at a distance. If I see another player at a military, weapon or no weapon in hand I will shot on sight. Just becuase someone is fresh spawn dosn't mean there not dangerous, they can knock you out and take your stuff, even they should make an effort to prove they are freindly. They could be just be freshly spawned bandit. So I think KOSing can be mis understood. can you explain to me why you are not bad at the game if you shoot on sight? Becuase of what I explained in the 1st question. My reasoning is simple. It comes from playing 100s of hours solo. I just don't take my chances with people who are armed, or make any hostile actions towards me in game. To many times I have seen voice contact random players turn south. To me there is there is no good or bad in Dayz only Grey. What is your opinion on people who shoot on sight? It depends there reasoning. If its just for the sake of ruining someones day. To rob. Not too high. But if its out of being worried about the your own welfare, and for them to survive. I say they are playing correctly Do you think they are just pure douche bags that ruin your DayZ experience? No. The worst people are those who bandit or rob. Or kill to get loot. Or players who capture people and turture. Sadistic wierd power triping stuff. In its current state it is part of the game. There is no mechanics one way or the other. Should they be ashamed of themselves? Again depends on there reasoning. -
He was packing 2 rifles....thats right. He started off with the mosin scoped, then sks. When I get a mosin scoped I value it. It sometimes takes a while to get the parts for it. So I try not to get killed and stay out of towns. Instead shooting into them perched on a hill. So he must have been hungry LOL Not sure if he even had a game plan. Running around him circles was a vary good move on your part, and zig zaging. This may have all been cuased "ping kitting"....maybe he was seeing everthing later then you. This is a legit tactic. Regardless it was pretty funny. The funny thing about me and close end fights is I'm decent at shooting but not super good....but will confess being cuaght of guard close all skill kind of goes out the window. I have in the past been so shocked I forget to even aim in and just start shooting. The M4, MP5 and AKM are great spray prey guns if someone catches you off guard up close completly by surpise. You can just sprey. I have had players try to knock me out, and zig zag...it can be hard to hit them and vs versa. But if you are armed well for close end, its not really.
-
Give your self more credit then that man....Not everyone is, and if you know your not don't put your self in situations like that one LOL thats all He was using a mosin with a long range scope though for sticking someone up at close range. LOL That's just fucking stupid right there, or just lacking any game knowlege what so ever. Zero understanding of the weapons in game. Dumb as hell. If you going to stick people up use an akm, 101 or an m4. That way is your victim start zig zaging, you can resort to spray and prey if you have too. I have had to do it. Or an MP5. Or even a SKS. Or even a pistol. But a slow firing mosin set up for long sniping......thats just dumb. You know I have pvped abit in dayz, watched videos and seen quite abit. One thing I know there is great players out there...and there are some really dumb players out there. Either that or they just don't give 2 shits about there avatars survival. No skill what so ever. Then you got your wanna be "Morgan Freemans" out there, who toy with people thinking there funny...Lets be clear, the guy who does "Morgan Freeman" is funny as hell....but it dosn't mean you are LOLOL It's part of the reason over time I have become quicker just to not take my chances and shot people on the spot. Dosn't break my heart one bit LOL But videos like this one I'm shocked at the stupidity, luaghing and entertained all at the same time. It makes me feel so much better about my self!! hahahahaha

What an ass-hat! My God the stupidity! Gosh everyone has a twitch channel now LOL

When I here threads that start off like this one....It makes me want to let people know DayZ SA is not the only game or mod out there that use the ARMA2 engine. Let DayZ be.....well DayZ. Its a hard core survivor sim set in a zombie apoc. I mean this, its not every ones cup of tea. I think people play and like the engine it runs on and imagine other settings it should be in. Well guess what...there's tons of other games and mods out there that run on ARMA 2 engine and now there's super mods poping up for ARMA 3. So if ya don't like DayZ cause it has no rules and takes place in a zombie apoc...give some of the other mods a try and games too. Check out Bohemian.com or Armaholic.com. I say this because I seen threads that get sometimes heated about rules ect ect, When reality is it maybe some people are playing the wrong game, but enjoy the engine. So really there kind of no need for it. Because I am a purist when it comes to DayZ SA, I want a post apoc hell hole set in eastern europe, with no rules. I don't want it watered down. When I don't feel like playing in that setting, I simply play another game for a while.

For those of you that have lost faith in DayZ...
CJFlint replied to pabloottawa's topic in General Discussion
I have come close to just not playing till the game was completely finished. When .47 was put on stable I basicly got my CHR ruined do to the melee bug that I had alive for months. It pissed me off, because I had all my gear wrecked by a zombies then latter died. For no reason. Then exp wipes and many other bugs. I had to read up and do my own testing just to want to come back and play. You see I don't mind dieing in game; I just prefer dieing in combat or self-caused. Not because of broken mechanics. Did I lose faith in the game as a whole. No. Did consider not playing till DayZ was closer to full release...Yes. I have watched several interviews with Dean Hall....the guy is much different than most developers. He’s got a military back ground, and is a mountaineer. When I was in high school I was a JR mountaineer and I severed in the military as well. I did not climb Everest. But there is no better way to get outdoor skills and survival skills. I know, with that type of background, he has the knowledge to make a very realistic survival game. He also has a really different way of looking at game development then other game makers and has vary good ideas. So I'm pretty confident it will be, not even worried about that part. The main thing that concerns me is broken game mechanics, and bugs. Remember there’s nothing wrong with taking a break from the game. I do all the time, I’ll play sometimes for 2 weeks or 3 weeks then break. -
You mention morals and so forth. LOL Shoting a player to me is the same as shoting a zombie, I just don't care. Its a game. Its not real. No one gets hurt. Infact when I prefer being shot over anykind of death in DayZ. As long as avatar lived for a long while and I then get shot...I look at is well he had a good run now its over. For me there is no Pyschologic anything in dayz other then humor, thrills and fun. Example if I see another play 1st thing I look at is there hands. If they got a weapon in there hands BANG! or flee lol. I not even going to bother voice chating them. If someone makes a really good effort to show they are freindly, I normally ask them to keep the gun out of there hands and to leave one way I go another. Random in game players have nothing I need that I cannot find my self, they cannot provide any help I cant just do my self. They have nothing I need or want. So why should I be nice or try to create freinds in game, just to have them stab me in the back? I'm for dam sure don't care what there stats are. I don't care to earn anyones trust random, or vs versa. Look If I want freinds or want ot play with people I go on TS. Much easier that way/
-
I don't like your idea it just dosn't make since. It dosn't match the realitys in the game on a packed server period. Serously I played allot on packed servers, pvped and what have. Solo or grouped I cant think of one time.....one time were I thought about or wanted to trade stats with someone. Your missing the point of human interaction DayZ. There should be a mystery about people you meet randomly, trust should be earned over time. DayZ should be a scary, place were you have to look over shoulder. The idea you have is basicly watering it down. Look DayZ SA currently has allot bug issues. Lets not confuse the Devs too about ok. They already have enough work. You know I think you idea would work in like the City Life Arma 2 mod or something like that. Its not all bad, but it just dosn't fit DayZ SA.
-
Your thread been derailed before I even got here. My point is simple no stats ingame period, it takes away from Immersion. Simple to understand. Although I don't mind them in the menu. What the hell is this show me your if you show me mine LOL HAHAHA Do you really think that would apply in DayZ? It would not. Do you ever play on packed servers? People aint got time to be looking at each others stats. There busy trying not to get shot...or getting shot. Man I don't even bother talking to people I don't let alone want to see the stats...My god. Maybe in a different game.
-
I'm for the game showing how long you have been alive, how many zombie kills and how many player kills as well as other stats. Steam badges would be cool. But outside of game play. Like in the menu area. I also don't think there should be a leaderboard. Just for the player to see. BUT, I do not think it should be included with the game play itself, I believe it would take away immersion. Part of what makes DayZ cool, is when you meet a random stranger...you dont know who fuck your dealing with. It really adds the feeling of post apoc paranoia which is what makes DayZ SA specail. It should completly up to the players to decide if they trust someone or not. Not a game stat mechanic. I want it to be an organic exp. No infeirence from stats during game play at all. Look KOSing is part of DayZ! it will stay appart of dayz. Get over it! Learn to survive and adapt. Learn how to not be a victim of it. Check areas out before you enter, look for opened doors zombie agro, dead people laying around ect ect. Dont ask this training wheel stat stuff. Getting really tired of hearing all this KOS this KOS that bullshit! Of cource players don't trust each other! Of cource players are paranoid! Of cource people will start shooting at the drop of hat! ITS A ZOMBIE APOC! Its Gameplay Immersion! Buggy as Dayz is, and all the issues it has...its the one thing it really does well and makes it specail. Hey this game isn't for everyone, its not everyone cup of tea....thats fine. In fact I will be the 1st one to admit, I often take breaks from it, if there bugs I don't like ect ect. Sometimes I just feel like playing other games. But I will never ask to have it watered down. End of Rant! LOLOL

make this more like max brooks zombie survival guide!
CJFlint replied to Mangina's topic in Suggestions
I like the fact that Dean Hall is planing on adding this, in fact I enjoy lisening to his comentary on the development. Hes got some great ideas. But these ideas have to be put into practice. One day it will be a DayZ reality..........With that said I sure as fuck hope they get the mechanics of the zombies fixed before they add hordes of them for our sake.... -
ha ha ha ha ha! Boy oh boy...you sir have been coming up with pretty twisted ideas today, keeping me entertained here on the forums! We need to get you some help! But serously I'm all for game play realism, and allowing players to play how ever they like..I try not say my play style better then anyone elses here on the forums becuase of that. The thing to consider about your idea is for one, these are not true zombies in dayz, they are infected. There for rubbing zombie guts on one self may not be a vary good idea, just becuase you may cause your self to become gravely ill. As for posioning other players well that maybe an idea...a gross one..but an idea.
-
Your right. People get confused by zombie lore all the time. Zombie are dead people that rise from the dead. In dayz the "Zombies" are not true zombies by def. They are people that are "infected" with a horrible virus, they are not people who rose from the dead. Heres the interesting catch to the whole thing with "infected", is there is almost a moral obligation to try to find a cure. Now as far as rubbing "the infected" guts all over one self to blend in, well it depends if it would work. DayZ is steering towards realism, so could be vary posible that doing that could cause you to become vary sick. Would you not think?
-
I'm sort of mixed on an idea like this. Serously if you had your arm choped off by a bandit, and managed to some how escape, would not just kill your self so you could respawn? And why so sadistic? I'm guilty of what some may consider a KOSer. I think of it more as not taking chances. But I'm not sadistic, not into torture. Its alittle bazare to me sometimes, that there people who play that are into this sort of thing in DayZ. Whats Fed is is it makes tactical minded people like me even more likely to "KOS". Your not capturing me and pulling that weird shit, ya sickly prick ya lol Some players I sware get a weird power trip doing this sort of thing. I'm serous we have all seen the players who are into capturing people and feeding the rotten fruit til they keel over. Even making them fight each other. Me I play as a sportmen. On the flip side it would add realism and a since of horror to the game. Also I'm pro game play freedom. I think player should be able to play anyway they want, even as a complete sadistic weirdo.....to an extent. ITS A GAME! So I would say add it in the sake of game play freedom. BUT you sadistic fuckers should be ashamed of your selves! You sickly sick fucks!

List of things that bug me when playing DayZ
CJFlint replied to Evil Minion's topic in General Discussion
I do get 50 ping and below yes, def not all of them prob 20 % to 35% of the servers I see. I will log in on a a 65 even 70, but not higher. They are the best servers to play on, not nearly as many glitches. The game just runs much smoother. I think location is and internet connection may have allot to do with it as well. I just know for a fact if it says 65 or below on a refreshed list and I log in. The server gererally run much better. I know this for a fact, becuase I had many of the bugs and glitches listed. Many of the went away when I log in on lower ping servers and monitor it during game play. I watch the list and watch for changes in game play. I does go up and down from what noticed but not too ubbrupt and normally I good until I decide to log out. Also sure having more players effects player lag, but if YOU got good connection you will have good game play, and others around you will be glitching and you will not...hence thee old term pvp term "Ping Kiting". You have a huge advantage if you have good ping and good connecting, over someone who does not. Look if people want to discard what I saying, then complain that there game is still messed up on this thread, well quite frankly thats your fucking problem LOL your messed up game not mine. Im simply posting that was vary effective in helping my game preformance a great deal, everthing from glitching zombies, to bottons not working. It appears there are others seeing the same thing I saw, and I'm trying to help them by telling a way to crack down on some of these issues. Becuase it worked for me. There still is bugs, but its much more playable. Is it all there is too it..No. But it does help a great deal. I'm serously not here to debate about all the tech behind it. I'm trying to help players that cut down on really terrible game issues, becuase I know how frustrating they are. Not all, but many of the issues listed are caused by server issues. Its a way to sort through what servers to log into and what ones are not good. Get rediculed for trying to help people....only on the DayZ Forums.....Geezz -

If you play on a 80 ping server and then play on a 30 ping server I promiss you see a difference. But yes I do agree there is more to it then that. What solved many issues for me is to refresh the server list and pick a server with 50 or below. It works for me anyways pretty well do avoid terrible game glitches. Its pretty simple, and is not rocket sceince. 50 and below servers I have no problems on other then global audio noise really. But I'll will not rule out other things and other solutions. Look I'm not here to debate. I just stating what helped me to have better game preformance and does work. Also there is graffics settings and other tweaks. Many of the bugs people are complaining about from zombies glitching to not being able to draw a weapon when you press a botton are server related. That seem to be far more noticed after .47 -

Interesting I'll give interface responce a gander next time as well. So far if say I log in on a 45 ping server, theres a decent chance it will work good the whole time. Although Im sure the ping goes up or down. I check it probably every 5 to minutes. I do a player scan every few minutes and check it then. Anything to keep the game running well I'll look into too -

Just becuase its alpha dosn't mean we can't bring up shit thats just messed up. Alpha is not an excuse for the game to just completely suck. Its just saying keep in mind its a work in progress. Otherwise they should not have charged money for it. -

Right good point. I watch it the same way I watch whos coming on and off the server, by pressing the P. As long as it stays dosent go higher then 65 its still playable for me. It starts to get bad any higher....90 ping and higher is god awful. I 100% certain ping issues got way worse after .47 stable. At 1st I had no idea what was causing all these issues. I thought it was just a really bad patch...it wasn't. Much of it is server ping related. -
