Here's my current build. My current life I have been alive for over a month, since late sept. 3 really close calls with certain death, to 2 pvp close calls and one poisoning.were I went all grey. Its been my goal to survive as long as possible and I never gave up. Had to re gear a few times, but never once let him die. I did group pvp and solo pvp with this life and been all over on this build. Its been a real adventure. I been though some crazy crap one this build, well that lived anyways. These are my latest screen shots from the .50 build with some of the new items. I traded in my hunters for the new back pack and my boots lol...found one of those leather repair kits....haven't had to use it with the jungle boots. On my second gurka helmet now lol 1st one I lost when I was tipsy playing....left it on the ground and logged out lol... I am hoping to survive the next patch. But dayz is dayz so who knows may die next time I play...so its important to atleast show this far. Ha Ha before I fall off a cliff or get shot.

Is it considered bad form to server hop at military areas?
CJFlint replied to zombieland78's topic in New Player Discussion
Server hoping on military bases can come at a cost. Even on light server you can run into contacts at military bases. In fact light servers are were people loot the most. So if you start server hoping it increases your odds of running into another player. Wether you want to or not. Players get shot all the time just spawning next to a barack, the guy inside hears foot steps and gets into a good shoting pos. Then the door opens and BANG!! "your dead". Also it is time consuming to server hope. Load in times, and timers. Is it really worth it is the question. As far as server hoping goes, Im not 100% against it. In fact I do not even consider it an expliot. The only effort the devs did to combat this is adding a timer. The really just put a road block timer in place, which doesn't stop it, it just cuts down on it. I think its really funny how people complain about it so much, and ghosting too. But just about everyone does it, or has done it at some point. Also ghosting is really common too. Lets be real honest. I played with quite a few people on TS and will tell you just about everyone is not above doing it. They just will not admit it. I don't server hope all the time infact once I find a good server I stay on it. I have done it before though, and will tell you there is an advantage to it, your likely to at some point find what your looking for, if your in a good area. But its time consuming and your at some point going to run into contact. Some times I find I'm better off not doing it. So I dont always do it becuase I think its bad, I don't do it becuase its not always ideal. For me and looting though, I find the best way to do it is in a small group. You can trade items back and forth and get geared up much quicker. That in my exp is the best way to get geared up....not so much server hopping. -
You know I am totally for more military grade gear being added into this game, the more the merrier. I know there are many here who feel we should not have any what so ever. I'm not one of those people. Now should it be rare? I say yes. So signed!

Wells not working? What's persistence?
CJFlint replied to Shotta (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Even if they are broken, water is still every where if you look in the form ponds lakes. I would advise in future to carry at 1 or 2 water containers. I currently have 3. I have been collect water tabs, becuase I know dam well they will at some point in the near future make it so we have to use them. Yes yes I fully intend on being alive next patch, its a goal. I survived most of the last one. In past patches you could get away with not having water bottles what so ever. Instead just going well to well, water source to water source. I think in the future this may become even harder. So having water containers is now something you must make room for. Along with an extra pair boots, or boot repair......lol Were running out of space quick huh!? I would say only travel with in your means now. If you don't have a way to repair footware or really good footware, a basic survival kit, and water. Don't travel to far until you get these items, unless you really have too. The reason I say this is because some areas of the map there is not that many water sources. And if its not raining out you can screw your self over. Even if it is raining out, if your not water prof you can get wet collecting water...So you have to think about this stuff. I think wells should work randomly, thats what I think they should do. Its an apoc for god sakes, not all public services work anymore. But to have all of them not work I think is going to far. I know I'll be fine. It gotta be hard being a fresh spawn right now.....geez. Between footware, water and weather effects (which don't seem as bad as before) is seems like if you don't have your shit together with in 30 minutes your odds of making it are pretty slim. Make sure them feet are taken care of bitches! -
Is there any foot ware effect videos? I would like to see which are the best currently. I logged in on stable just now. My avatar is still good. But I have military boots that I started with pristine, went to worn only after running for maybe 5 to 10 min. To me that seems like it will become an issue, or will it? What boots currently are the best? Were is the best place to find leather mending kits? The reason I ask is because on any given session I can cover much ground. I have to say I really like the changes to the mosin rap! Vary nice to see those colors darkened! That I am pleased with! Aww no water pumps, shit now I know why I carry 3 water bottles. That is good to know! I will make sure to stay close enough to ponds and lakes
-
Hmmm havn't even logged into .50 stable....can already tell there is balance issues. How bad is it is the question. Shit like this is the reason I wait now :P
-
Interesting, so I currently have mil boots on my stable avatar, still waiting for my patch to download. How long will they last?......God dam I just hope this isn't going to be like that weather hot fix..end up getting dicked over looking for boots all the time LOL :o I did play not play exp for .50, so I'm kind of excited to see the new mil base. I will NOT be exploring the new bunker thank you vary much!

I would be down, I'll be keeping a close eye on all of you! :P

I would say neutural for me. It treat every encounter different. Person by person. Server by server. I don't care for tags in dayz, I don't believe in "Hero" or "Bandit" tags. I don't care for labeling players. But if I had to label my self I would say I am a survivor and a sniper. Thats pretty much my play style. I really think we need to move beyond this "Hero" and "Bandit" labeling of players. This isn't the mod and its not in the mechanics, its sort of limiting to just keep using these dumb labels. Lets move past this. The SA allows for many play style types, and as it develops there will be even more. So why is it always "bandit" or "hero", thread after thread? Its dumb. This game is 100% game play freedom with in the confines of its engine, why do we keep limiting with these dumb labels? I'm glad I don't think about labeling players when I play, I think it increases the duration of my avatars life by allot. When see other players its 100% posture and body language Im looking at. I could give 2 shits what there play style is. Last thing Im thinking about is this player is a "Hero" or "Bandit". Its all about there actions at that vary moment which causes me to react. If they are making an effort to show there freindly by voice prox and body language. Or they have there gun out and posturing like they are going to shoot..Thats what I'm looking at and weighing in my mind that could cause me to engage another player or let them be. DayZ has no rewards, no badges. Its you live moment to moment, encounter to encounter. I do not consider ethics what so ever when I play. Just Say n

How do you interact with others in this game?
CJFlint replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
Me neither. Its because we both know we prob will not live through it, even if we do we know we be allot worse off then before the robery. Its not like real life. Your better off putting up a fight or trying to flee. There's also weird sadistic players who capture poeple and force feed them, caddle prod them ect ect. Fuck all that shit LOL Weirdo players LOL I rather just get a dam respawn! Regardless though I have the mind set that I am a wolf anyways. No one has tried any of that crap for some time now. -
How do you interact with others in this game?
CJFlint replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
For me most of the time I have had random interactions with other random players is when me and the people I was talking to were not armed. They were norm just quick conversations. Only once did I ever make freinds with random armed players. They asked me to come out with my hands up, I refused. Then they told me they were freindly and ment no harm and put away there guns. I ended playing with them for about an hour lol loged into to there TS. But these are expections, I would say about 80% of the time its hostile. Its to the point that I am surprised that when players are freindly. There for I have a vary short fuze when it comes to dealing with random players....vary. Keep the gun put away! To me thats body language that says more then any voice prox. It tells me your looking to shoot someone. Normally I won't say a word, I just start shooting or fleeing. Or if your wearing a one of those dumb ass payday masks....your telling me your out to rob....I will shot on the spot, gun out or no gun out. Call me what you want, I call it playing safe LOL I'm like one of those crazy paraniod guys that lives in the woods when I play dayz....Im vary nice in real life though :D The thing is if you have your gun put away...and I see you and you don't see me...I'll let you be. So that should be a lesson for people on here. When you got your gun out your sending a signal...your looking looking too shoot. If your clearly dressed like a "Bandit" thats sending players a signal too. -
Cooking with stove, insta-burnt - Fixed? Plans?
CJFlint replied to voxframe's topic in General Discussion
The stove should be a high piority fix. I SHOULD be able to provide heat and cook food with out burning it. -
I say you do not need advice, you should be giving it. I say as much as you can carry. Having the 3 green bars are really important. It means your making blood and really heathy. It means your doing a good really good job keeping your avatar alive and healthy. When you are well geared gun, plenty of ammo, 1st aid, food and water. When you have all three green bars. You have huge advantage over players who dont. It means you don't have to venture into towns too loot, you go at your leasure if you feel like it. You can easlily avoid other players and get the drop on people at your leasure not theres. You don't have to do things out of pure desperation. Deperation kills in dayz. You call the shots. Theres tons of adavantages. So to me your have the right idea. Its what I do. I have kept my avatar alive since late Sept. I have survived a few really close calls and was able to walk away each time becuase I was prepared. People who are ill prepared in dayz are normally are the onces that die quickly and only live a few hours. People who take the time to prepare by putting together a good kit, are patient, and have a good understanding or the game. Tend to live much longer durations then those who dont. Hell I have to go look for trouble lol Also another killer of players is being a sheep to a group, that dosn't really know what there doing. Other players that act and talk like they know what they are doing sometimes really don't. They will dish out bad orders and advice. I have seen and heard this before in groups. You have to becareful your not just being lead into a death trap for a quick COD thrill. If things seem off, and just don't feel right. Sometimes you just have to make the call your self. Just don't be a sheep. The biggest problem I ever had, is not trusting my intincts and my own knowlege of the game mechanics, and leaving it to someone else. Don't get me wrong there are some really good groups out there and group leaders.

Well if you look at the south west part of the map. Even with the SOME of the military loot being taken out of bolata. You still have a control tower and a pd, and just nw of there is another mil base in the middle of the woods, with 4 baracks. Then just north of that Zelen. There still is more military loot in the south west a part of the map then almost anywhere else. The only other place there is more is NWAF. So my god its not like we got cheated or anything. West coast of the map is loaded with mil spawns. Also when .50 patch hits there will be an all new military base added, with death bunker. I think when this is added to stable, we will have more military spawns then ever before.
-
Your right, its not a standard barack, its kind of a curved shape building with bunks inside, thats were the mil loot spawns. I see gurka helmets spawn, and once an akm. There wooded hills both east and west, and the tent city is right out in the open in a feild. If more people went it would be pretty deadly snipers could pick people of from either east or west.
-
Hey, tent city is north slitghly west of zelen now. I was just there sat night in fact. You have to go through a the forest to get there. Its really funny, no ever goes there either, no one seems to know about it...never see anyone there. Never anysigns of looting. There is one barack and tons of tents. Really theres a little bit of mil loot and a ton of food. Its in the middle of a feild in the middle of no where, almost on the edge of the map. Really it ideal for getting loots of food, and maybe a mil items or 2 No zombie's either. .....oh dam cats out of the bag now..me and my big mouth. My secret loot area is now known lol

Me I'm not that into RP with dayz, I don't think it really needs it. Thats just me though, and I will not knock people who want to do it. Also there are others who seem to desire human interaction when they play dayz, infact recently there was a thread about the lack of a socail exp in dayz sa. So I really think there is a place for your idea. I would go further then just setting up a server, I would make a group. In order to be a member they have agree to RP. And put a password on the server so only group members can get in. Other wise your just going to have KOSers or people like me log in and just start shooting people who could give 2 shits about RP show up wrecking the RP. Just saying its an RP server isn't enough. So from a group, and put a password on the server to avoid almost certain problems. There is also CITY LIFE mod for arma 2 that has much of what your talking about, and same with arma 3. You may find your better off just playing city life. Its pretty popular.

Honestly there are so many variations of the Kalashnikov and so many dif countries’s that produce them, that really this itself could lead into an endless debate. A huge can of worms that kind of doesn’t need to be opened yet. I think the devs should do, is exactly what they did. They picked 2 Kalashnikovs one 7.62 and one 5.56, this covers a wide spectrum. The 2 rifles they selected cover a wide spectrum of what aks are, and I think were a wise choice by the devs. Basically in the real world most Kalashnikovs come in 7.62 and 5.56 mostly...not all mostly though. Do we really need to nitpick even more? Hell they even added a shortened one. Of course there is the saga...not including that in this debate. And let’s be clear the game is somewhat realistic, but let’s be honest....it’s not 100% accurate. So what difference does it really make if they add more of them right now, that are off on realism anyways. So really do we want to nitpick right now? I say maybe later down the roads, when the game is released add more on then. If you read the wiki, and read the hit points and specs on each weapon. It’s a pretty dumbed down rep of reality for gamers. When I read through all the specs on stuff, they LOSELY based it on reality and works well for a video game standpoint. This is not a dis, they made realistic in areas to make it work in a moderately realistic setting. I can tell. My thoughts about dayz changed when I went through the wiki. I went from expected 100% realism, to being just happy with a system that runs smoothly, have a decent amount of content. Because it’s just not 100% realistic, it has just has system that gives someone who doesn’t have allot of knowledge about fire arms ect it does. So I know longer brow beat about how 100% realistic it is...it never will be...its not ment to be. But for what it is, it dam well works. That’s the important thing. So let’s not get too hung up on the really fine details, you find yourself disappointed.
-
Instead of swaping the 101 with the 108, how about just adding the 108. The more the merrier......regardless though...we all know that the Kalashnikov was made all over warsaw, and beyond. So there are so many veriations of them we could sit here all day posting, post after post. Its really kind of insane, how many were made.
-
I know 1st hand how confused things can get in the heat of pvp. You really have to com well with each other or you could shoot one of your own team mates. I know the costs of not having it together on team speak. Thigs can quickly turn into a train wreck. It happens all the time. But one could say this is what makes DayZ SA pvp so raw and un scripted. Adding tags would take away some of the raw unscripted feel of the SA. It adds confusion and choas one would expect in a post apoc type world. So Im kind of tworn on this one.
-
Just an example. Tonight I was playing and I hunted a deer. I then went to skin the animal. I of course dropped my pot on the ground to collect the meat.....server reset. I was unable to log back on the server, or able to recover my pot which had 3 pieces of meat. I have had this happen before when I have had gear on the ground. We should really have a warning that says, "5 minutes server will restart". It was not a huge loss, but its a little annoying. I also had it happen while I lit fires too. Its not a huge deal really, and honestly It was not a huge loss. But this has happened to me a few times so far. Its one of the reasons why I no longer carry 2 rifles. You just sometimes don't know. Sometimes its easy to predict sometimes not at all. Its a legit request. Maybe its been brought up before not sure. Before weather effects this was not as big of a deal. You just knew to keep your crap on you. Now we sometimes have to leave items on the ground. Then a server restart, and there is sometimes no way to recover them. So a warning would be really nice so we know to keep are stuff on our avatars til restart. The problem is we can't always log back on the server that just restarted. That's IF persist is on. Its become a bit more of an issue sometimes. Also if there is anyway to completely avoid this sort of thing for the time being, please let me know, I know there are others who had the same issue so it can help them too. Things like this is why I always say 50% knowlege of game mechanics, 50% real world common since.
-
That makes since and explains allot of why some servers are easier to predict the others. If thats the case then last night was probably a crash, there was no warning. Afterwards I was unable to log back on the server too, prob becuase it was just down for a while. Its been happening since I have been playing, Im just notice it more now that we have items we use on the ground for durations of time.
-
I love the cooking pot! Thought I was the only one. Just wish it was 6 pieces of meat it carry's instead of 5!

Signed. Washing ones ass is important! :beans:

That building is cursed Ill tell you!
