Okay, I've been looking for tents like about 20 minutes in these. Now listen VERY carefully. Whatever you do... DON'T fucking go to a balcony and through something... Just don't. I did it in Dubky and died with and M4A1. Very very very luckily I spawned in Cherno after 1 respawn try and took my gear back. Infact I haven't spawned in Cherno like since .50 or smth so I don't know how lucky I was to spawn in Cherno just when I fell from 5 floors.

I don't get how this ruins your gameplay really. I seriously do... Like, if you see a guy with an AKM and a Kashtan scope - do you automatically assume he is a loot farmer? I assume by loot farming you mean server hopping because I doubt people are waiting near their loot spots 30 minutes for loot to respawn...

Yes, I am a pussy player. I had been in servers of max 5 players. One of the biggest achievements I had was repairing and refueling a V3S by myself (which broke 5 minutes afterwards :( ). If I could repair a chopper by myself...

I never shot an SVD. I'm a pussy player. I only had one by killing 2 sniper bandits on Elektro. Took his SVD and hid it in a tent. Disappeared a while after... The sound of an SVD is an AK place holder I guess? I expected a way more threatening sound being it the best sniper rifle in the game (It is, semi-auto 7.62x54mmR)

Just lately at TwitchCon "Hicks said..." the BETA will be delayed in a month or (probably not) two. 5 months it is, and I really think it's cool. Let them take their time, make this game better. The BETA release will be some kind of a big milestone for DayZ, all way from November 2011 up until the release. Thinking about it, DayZ never left the "Alpha" frame, the mod has been in an Alpha stage and so is the standalone. Once the new renderer is fully optimized and implemented and, I just can't way to open some PBOs and inspect the changes to models, it will be a big change. DayZ will be a prototype game for future titles from Bohemia Interactive as the whole engine will be re-done and stuff from all way back to 2001 will no longer be part of the legacy engine. Just like you I guess, I really like those videos - I really enjoy sitting with my lunch looking at those long-ass videos that explain stuff which is, vital for people who wish to understand how to make their own game for example. Eugene's presentation about hacking, Chris' presentation about team management, Dean's presentation about DayZ development which is already 1 year old but it still shows the vision and future progress of where the development is heading (especially modding, yeah -- never heard the phrase 'space engineers' so many times in 1 hour lol). I especially liked Brian's presentation which I think was PAX Prime? I don't even remember anymore. You get to learn from the devs about the future of the game, about modding which is very important for me atleast and about the development progress as a whole. Anyway, the thing is - you take the whole DayZ development for granted in my opinion man. It's not some kind of a triple-A title like call of duty which is based on recycled technology with millions of dollars on budget. It's just BIStudio, and I say "just" not out of disrespect but out of the understanding that BIS is an indie game developer. They don't have a bigass publisher, big teams for individual titles and the resources EA and Dice has for example, the makers of Battlefield. My point is, be patient :D. I've been waiting for 4 years I believe and I will keep waiting I guess. So can you, and everyone around here :D. The wait is finally showing some profit, we can do it a little more. Edit: Oh yeah, and on-topic. Yeah, it seems pretty accurate. Sure some stuff are a little bit later and some are earlier (I think), but the general picture makes it look okay. -
The reason behind the grass is due to performance issues. Rendering thousands of vegetational objects will kill most PCs

No.. All the models for DayZ are P3D version 52 - ArmA 2 won't load these models. -
I feel that engine wisely .60 will have a better impact. I also think the BETA version will come out along .60 or .61 as Brian said the BETA release will probably be delayed to January/February. If Tisy and the chopper is implemented in .59 then sure, its huge progress especially for the vehicle part of the game.

The story is way different than what DayZ is standing for. The PvE aspect of the game exist and will keep existing. Once zombies are properly implemented you will notice it much more. This thread is just another anti-KoS thread as far as I see it. DayZ will not be a spear and stone based game and will keep carrying the bandit-like environment as you call it. In the end the goal of players is getting the loot they want, to get a weapon and eventually set camp. But people WILL be hostile to eachother because that's how it is. "Player Choice" as Brian calls it. Fuck me if I don't get that "I wanna shoot something" feeling every weekend while I am a friendly guy most of the time. Development for DayZ will continue, new features will be added in and once mod support is released there will be several gameplay themes players will be able to choose. Your story seems like a good idea for a mod, not the vanilla DayZ experience. As for an anti-game experience - The devteam has done a good job already on making ammo rare, and it will be even more rare in the future. Despite that, you already have a lot of anti-game features such as the need for tools to open food cans. Obviously if you have an old character with good gear you'll find it perhaps very easy "surviving".

The Tisy military base sounds very nice and than you'd need to risk yourself to get a chopper! The little bird seems very primitive but nice. Beards look really cool too. p.s rip dean lol so what do you think?

can anyone teach me a pro mlg route to loot choppers. I really want to loot some. . I haven't looked for any specifically but in the last week I've only seen 3 US ones and I've only spotted them due to smoke...

Exile is not better, it is a matter of taste. DayZ bring a whole different experience than Exile. I'm not the one to say what's better but DayZ vanilla will stay the same forever. That's what vanilla is for - the most simple and minimalistic featured gameplay which brings the whole player interaction to a different level. I'd doubt you'll see as many friendly players in Exile as in DayZ. Besides that, as said way before in a post I believe bonesboy locked already - making a game and making a mod is different. I don't think Exile will have any grenade launcher attachments. When DayZ releases mod support I doubt Exile will be anywhere near DayZ mods.

Guys need to learn to take a joke with all the Axe shaving thing. I can't believe half of the replies were actually serious. Besides that, with people rolling around with Mosins, AKMs and M4s - even a group of 3 shouldn't find it hard to aim for the rotor and damage it with some lucky shots. I mean sure you won't be able to take out a chopper from 800 meters away but as Brian said - if a chopper is following you, strafing you or attempting to land - all the 7.62 variants (including the .308) will come in pretty handy. You just need to know where to shoot. -
