well done. appearantly this thread was taken serious by the devs.
-
I don't want to tell you how I know that because I'll probably get wrecked by BIS but there's an Mp5 planned for future versions and it's not that military since it's aim is pretty shit.
-
No. No sidechat. It will ruin the whole idea. Make side chat OFF on official servers and when (if) server files will be released make it a variable that turns it ON and OFF while the default is OFF. Also let people mute the SIDE CHAT'S VON (not the whole VoN thing but only the Sidechat's one while keeping text chat on)

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
Yuval replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
To be honest, despite my extreme passion to edit DayZ SA to something more unique when (if) it will be possible. I wish that dayz sa will stay in his current state as much as possible! The fact that there aren't vehicles and not many guns is great. When vehicle will be added, half of the map will be building their base and the other will be DMing each other across the map. The devs job is to balance the features in order to make this situation impossible in the future. If they do that dayz will be the greatest game in history (after pacman champion edition). -
I didn't feel bad about paying 30$ for a bugged game. I didn't feel bad about character wipes and glitch deaths But now, you can't pull the alpha card: "Save 15% on DayZ on Steam" ... shit.

My server is stuck at "Setup complete, please wait".
Yuval posted a topic in Server Owners and Admins
Okey, I've edited the DayZ spawn selection system. After I've edited the display itself (with custom *.paa files) it worked fine. But, after I've added spawn locations, my server is stuck at "Setup complete, please wait" forever, and my console is stuck, (when you connect and the mission start the console gets spammed with "HiveExt (0)" lines right? So mine is stuck after I've only edited the following files: RscDisplaySpawnSelecter.hpp (config file, it might not be the exact name) - To edit the textures. (I also deleted the old textures and added the new one) -------------- Until this point my server worked fine. ------------- init.sqf - Added an array with player spawns server_playerSetup - Edited the code that sets position with this: if (_randomSpot) then { private["_counter","_position","_isNear","_isZero"]; if (!isDedicated) then { endLoadingScreen; }; _findSpot = true; _arr_spawnPos = (survivorspawnpoints select dayz_selectedRegion); while {_findSpot} do { _position = _arr_spawnPos select (round(random ((count _arr_spawnPos) - 1))); }; _worldspace = [0,_position];};The red array is the spawns array in init.sqf. Which is scripted like that: survivorspawnpoints = [ [[X,Y,Z],[X,Y,Z]], [[X,Y,Z],[X,Y,Z]] ];If you get what I did here, can you please tell me what's wrong and why am I stuck on "Setup Complete, please wait" (It happens after I select a position, but before I tested the positions and got into the server - My character was alive and I was still stuck in this "Setup Complete please wait" thing). Thanks for helpers. EDIT: Well, I reverted back the server_playerSetup to the original one and I could spawn. So the problem is in the new setup_playerSetup I put, can anyone tell me what is it? The only thing I've changed is the first code I posted here. -
DayZ Server Files 1.8.0.3 Ready-To-Use So yeah! After more than 2 hours I finally managed to get the server files working. These server files are optimized for use, including the SQL files, start_server batch file, BE filters, server config, basic config and MPMission files which aren't included in the official release version. It might sound easy to set up if you're skilled at making servers in ArmA 2 - but as a guy that doesn't know anything about it - I found it hard to set that server up. With these files every dummy could set up a dayz server! Download 2 mirrors. Don't break them because it gives bad luck. Solidfiles - http://www.solidfiles.com/d/b82c21f904/dayz-server-files-1.8.0.3.rar Mediafire - https://www.mediafire.com/?xrvbdg5923w1ewo Installation Step 1 - Create a new folder - we will call it "server" only for this demonstration. Step 2 - Copy and paste ArmA 2 directory's content into "server" folder. Step 3 - Copy and paste ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead directory's content into "server" folder (Replace files if needed, OPTIONAL - Remove folders that starts with '@', they are not needed and take a lot of space). Step 4 - Copy and paste the server files into "server" folder. (Replace files if needed). Step 5 - Setup a mysql database, with the following information: - Database = dayzdb - host/ip = localhost - port = 3306 - username = root - password = (Blank, no password) Step 6 - Go to "server" folder, and copy all files inside the "SQL" folder to the newly created MySQL database. Step 7 (Optional) - Inside "server" folder, go to "cfgdayz" and edit the server.cfg file however you want - make a backup file of it just to make sure you don't screw stuff up. Step 8 - Inside "server" folder, open the "@INIT_SERVER.bat" file, wait for the server console to load and you're done! If hosting the server from your own computer, the server's IP should be localhost:2302 for YOU, and <YOUR IP>:2302 for others (Write down "What is my IP" in google to find out your IP). If hosting the server in a dedicated server, it should be <Server IP>:2302 for you and others. Found mistakes? I'm pretty sure I have already stated I know nothing about AO/dayz servers. If I did any mistakes please PM me or reply so I could fix up the Installation guide / files (incase something's wrong or missing). Thanks! Enjoy. Can I get the server files for 1.8.0.3? I don't know where to get it except for those 'Private Packs' that contain useless addons I don't know how to remove. I just want them fresh as a baby's bottom.
-
Well I didn't see your post before I actually tried. Amazingly I spawned! I took cfg files, SQL files and MPmission files from Pwnz0rs pack and I did it! 1-0 to Stanley. I have won the buggy complicated ArmA 2 OA server! I did it (kinda) by myself. Thank you all for helping me out with making my own server now. All I need is to port napf and I'm done. I'm totally adding this to my life biography. p.s - 0 percents skill in ArmA2 scripting. 0 percents skill in server stuff. 100 percents logic use.
-
Any chance you paste here the original MPMissions/dayz.1.Chernarus files mission.sqm, description.txt and init.sqf. And in addition, could you tell me if Pwnz0r's SQL files will work on a clean dayz server?
-
Yeah thanks. Now can I ask you a question? I know it's long to explain but I know how to do it (partly). I want to set up my server now. But I can't seem to find proper SQL files, and I also want to know how to set up the batch file. I already got A2, A2OA and the server file in the same folder. I opened an SQL (xampp)server but I couldn't find the SQL file(s). I also need to know how to properly set up the batch file for the server startup ^^. If there's a guide or video that shows how to setup a fresh vanilla server (no packs / epoch / etc..) it could be great.

I am interested in your opinions on these 2 islands - Napf and Kellu. Napf is more known around dayz players and I'm pretty sure Kellu wasn't ported to DayZ yet (I don't know really), but if you'll have a chance to play DayZ in both of them - which will you play on? Here are some Screenshots of these Islands: Kellu Napf

Community Choice - Best Island out of 2!
Yuval replied to Yuval's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
That's interesting. Do you know how to work with Visitor3 and programs around it for sat/layer masks and etc..?Could I also ask you what would you like to see in DayZ maps? -
Community Choice - Best Island out of 2!
Yuval replied to Yuval's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Noooo man don't get me wrong!! I didn't mean to change your mind. And I actually agree with your opinion. I know napf seems better but I want more opinions.I don't have any thing for/against any of these Islands. I just want to know the community's opinion. -
Community Choice - Best Island out of 2!
Yuval replied to Yuval's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I want more opinions, and detailed explainations on choices but your opinion seems real. I am aware of Kellu being small in one hand, but in the other hand it seems solid. You have no idea how many islands exist with missing parts and textures and roads and etc... Kellu is just smooth as baby's bottom. It has proper villages and towns in it. No airfield though. (This island is really peaceful). Napf, seems to be much bigger and maybe even better. With cool looking cities and great mapscale. The views are great and the map is generally awesome. But I wish to know what the community thinks because personally I can't choose. -
Yeah! I was bleeding, searched for a shirt for like 10 minutes, luckily found a bandana when barely seeing anything! But then, when I wanted apply the rags on me I couldn't get rid of the zombies. Why? Because the pickaxe (In reality would do MUCH more damage than the axe, since it got a POINTED edge) couldn't kill them, but that's not the problem. I coudln't lose them! I was in a city where I should lose the LOS while zigzaging buildings but guess what? They just go through buildings! Imagine me, zigzaging to death while zombies literally put their wallhacks on going through buildings. I prefer the mod's AI really. They can also beat you while they run! Like come on that's a total OP!!! Yeah, Don't post any hate comments saying 'you are a noob' or 'learn to handle zombies' because you must be better than me at losing zombies, so what? Does it mean it should be hardcore? I bought this game and I am not so good at dodging and losing zombies, and I'm sure 60 percents of the players can't. I just want to point out advantages and disadvantages over zombies in here - Zombies do a respected amount of damage. Zombies can hit you while you're sprinting. Zombies spawn between 50 to 200m from you right when you kill another zombie. Zombies can see you through walls (means no way losing them inside cities, because the more you try, the more zombies getting egro'd. Zombies can go through walls (means that even if you try your best at breaking lines of sight they would punch you through walls. Zombies cannot die by 1 melee hit with ANY melee (Firefighter Axe isn't useful anymore). Zombies are fast, running from them takes atleast a 5-10 minutes run. Zombies respawn delay is OP Zombies respawn location is OP Killing 1 zombie in a town will egro 5 more, and will spawn 1 more infront of you. Zombies can see backwards. Zombies can hear you from more than 30 meters. Zombies won't drop any loot (like they do in the mod). Zombies might sometimes spawn inside the floor in buildings, making them almost invulnerable while they can still hit you. Female zombies aren't sexy. Zombies can't climb ladders Zombies can't go upstairs You can't really argue with these facts, especially the last one in the disadvantages. Zombies are too OP. If I find a Mosin and a Pickaxe for example, I wouldn't be able to lose zombies except for running a LONG run away from a city. You said you will FIX stuff in the alpha, but appearantly a few good months ago towns were actually lootable.

I wanted to give my series a nice start by making it's first and second episode in Origins MOD. Have fun, watch in 4K! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIUjcgE4l9A

The whitelist is fairly easy and it totally worth it. The community is good and KoS is 5 days ban. That's what you wanted...

Those guys who says alpha will probably commit a suicide at beta launch when 5%of the bugs will be fixed. Bugs are fun. Everytime I die by going down the firestation's stairs with fully customized m4 and a mosin, food and drink supply for 4 months and shitload of ammo I laugh like theres no tommorow. What about the ladder-bug in the firestation that served us from Day 1 of ArmA 2's release? What about the zombies that attack you once while you're actually get attacked twice in the same animation? When a DayZ server restarts and the database decides to take you 3 kilometers back? When a server with 39/40 players in it is full, no matter how many times you refresh. And I ain't even talking about glitched zombie sounds when the server has more than 10 players? You guys really need to take it easy. Bugs are everywhere and that's what fun about this game. Its PvP(layers) PvE(nvironment) and PvB(ugs). That's the whole point - you never know what's next. The bug reports section should be renamed to DayZ funny stories and the suggestions section should be renamed to science fiction stories. Welcome to Real Virtuality game engine. The only engine with an unnamed scipting language (they just literally called the scripting language "scripting language" LOL) Note: if you actually take what I just wrote seriously you need a doctor.

I wouldn't open my opinion on KoS here but let me give you a tip an old man named frankie said once - you only get killed on sight when you're on sight. Elsewisely play DayZRP mod. Which is really cool and no KoS
-
I'm pretty sure the OP doesnt have the mod. I play the mod alot tho.

RP servers can't give 100% no KOS. They can't enforce their rules. They aren't allowed to kick or ban player unless they are hacking. Until private hives come you wouldn't be able to find proper RP servers. That how it works. Incase you didn't realized it yet - buying your own server wouldn't give you anything. You cant spawn items, you cant teleport and you wouldn't be able to do anything for your advantage. You can only kick and ban. If you ban/kick someone for something that is not hacking your server will be disband. Private hives will allow server owners to do whatever they want on their servers. This my friends, will destroy DayZ.

Just give girls some money and a shopping bag. They will do the rest. Killing zombies virtually is not their thing P.S- Once a month when I actually get to know a girl, shes from the US. So I need to stay awake until 3AM to talk with her.

So yeah! Lets share our scariest experiences in DayZ My scariest is- when I was playing when it was night IRL and I had no light in my room. It happened to be a night server too. I was looting the shipwreck. When I entered a room with some beds (everything was dark) a fucking freshspawn jumped on me with a freaking axe. My heart went to 600bpm and I unloaded a 60rd. STANAG mag at his face. The jumpscare I had was so loud that my dad woke up naked and he unplugged the internet. LOL.

Yes. It was horrifying. For those weed guys - you made my day
