THE ACTUAL FIX: Launch game. Look in inventory for items that have flickering icons. Drop them and get as far away from them as possible. This has worked for both of my characters. The only downside is if you come into the vicinity of another bugged item. I did a test run through Cherno and Elektro with random FPS drops that I found were caused by running into the vicinity of another bugged item or player carrying a bugged item themselves. Predominantly bugged items: 1) Head Lamps 2) Weapon Attachments I'll add to the list as I encounter more. Cheers.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. After messing around with the new patch this morning, I found a few new items that I couldn't resist adding to my outfit; they really make the character that I was going for, but couldn't quite seem to finalize. I'd like to present to you Walker, Texas Ranger (the African Canadian version)!

New Patch Memory Leak: Possible fix/workaround
Grimey Rick replied to antykain's topic in General Discussion
My headlamp is flickering in my inventory. It's in pristine condition, though. I didn't get a chance to toss it away before I froze last attempt. Now I have 228 seconds remaining before I can try again. I'm such an evil server-hopper! -
This didn't work for me. On either of my characters. It made my attachments look grey, but that's about it. I still slowly lagged until my game froze.

I've noticed something kind of strange with the reported frames per second drops since the patch hit this morning. It seems that whenever I play my hardcore character, I slowly lose frames per second until my game locks up. Reportedly, this is due to a memory leak. However, when I play my regular character, the game runs fine. My hardcore character is currently logged somewhere in the vicinity of the north-western airfield, and my regular character is currently running around between Chernogorsk and Balota. I can run into Elektrozavodsk as well without this issue recurring. I'm currently making my to the north-western airfield with my regular character to see if the issue is isolated to that area. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Just got shot, fell unconscious, woke back up and then crawled away.

I took a Mosin round square to the chest earlier from maybe 50 yards. Screen went grey, character grunted, I ran. When I was safe I check myself out. The only thing that was ruined was my red flanel shirt. It had two SKS quick loaders in the pockets. One was still pristine, the other was worn. Go figure. -
Its not the Rain, there is a massive Memory Leak.

Both of my characters lag now. I was able to run around with my cowboy this morning for almost two hours lag-free. But now he's lagging too. Woe is me. -

Hell yeah! ;P Skip the machete, though. Worst weapon ever. I just kept it for aesthetic value. -
I hope he lags like a bitch the entire time.

I don't begrudge them their weekends, I just wouldn't have dropped a patch on a Friday for this reason. Patch days are better off dropped at the beginning of the week as more people are working and at school, and the developers are, well, working. Now we have three days with no game. It's a bad day to be an addict. :T -
Latest challenge: Survive the lag in post-patch DayZ.

When a Regular server has 3PP disabled, it shows up on the server list as Hardcore, even though it's not. It's pretty frustrating at times, especially now with the new server-hopping penalties. Oh well. Hopefully it gets addressed.

While I agree with you, the fact that they're leaving the game like this on a Friday is pretty bad. -
Yeah, they're going to be looking into a potential memory leak on Monday. That's definitely what it seems like. I'm just wondering whether or not said memory leak is somehow tied to certain areas of the map.

fix't That's what me and my buddies say, anyway. xD

I didn't even notice that, hah. I'm not sure... I think it's just the default stubble that he spawned with. That'd be sweet though. An epic beard and a brown leather trench coat would complete my look. :3 -
The new logout system is bad. Very, very bad.
Grimey Rick replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Yep, same. :3 November '04, baby. Warsong US PVP! (And, erm, Medivh US PVE too... -_-) -
This won't actually improve your frame rate. It'll decrease load times, but that's about it. I went from a 2TB W.D. Caviar Black HDD to a 240GB OCZ Vertex 3 and didn't notice any difference except the load times, as it should be. I agree with you about cities being very laggy, though. They have yet to be optimized, as far as I know.

Thank you for the advice. I will make sure I run at least five minutes at a full sprint before I next choose to log out near an airstrip. -
Nah, still stuck at "Please wait..."

Prematurely ending the World of Warcraft process results in your character remaining on the server in a vulnerable state for the remaining duration of the countdown. Again, not a fanboi, just saying. -
Logged out in house, fell trough floor and now im stuck!

How to escape from a wall: 1) Face wall. 2) Press "V" to vault. 3) Log out immediately after pressing "V". 4) Log back in. 5) While at "Wait for host" screen, repeatedly press "W" or whatever your forward key is bound to. 6) Profit. This works 99% of the time for me on the first shot. Sometimes it does take a couple of tries. -

Not true. Like I said in the OP, we waited for at least a full minute. Patch notes said thirty seconds. We figured we'd be safe. Not the case. This is not the first time I've been teleported to a random location after logging in; it's just the first time it's actually bitten me in the ass. The message I was/am trying to "conceive" (...?) is that the current system is broken/poorly implemented. If this is going to be hot-fixed, that's great. I patiently await to see what they unroll. The system is not sound. You're arguing in favor of something you're not a part of. You don't need to get offended when people complain about a legitimate issue. You're not a developer. Also, congratulations on your eighth post, all of which have been extremely helpful. /facepalm You win this thread. The patch notes claim you only need to wait thirty seconds. Therefore, your point is moot. Congratulations on your ninth post. Again, very helpful. I like the idea of going to sleep. I wasn't suggesting we copy the exact fucking source code from World of Warcraft, just the general idea. Your idea adds legitimacy and immersion. The current system is just a crapshoot as to whether or not you waited long enough to log out, which, for the record, was supposed to be thirty seconds. Congratulations on killing someone that you had no idea was combat logging. Also, you don't have "DayZ instincts". Another reason this system is stupid. Thanks. A helpful post as always. (No sarcasm.) I am also excited to see if this issue gets hot-fixed. And yeah, I am not a server hopper. There're too many people on these forums who think they know everything about everybody. When someone creates a thread depicting a fairly detailed situation with no holes in the story or blatant flaws, it's probably best to believe them until they're somehow caught in a lie. I don't know what kind of judicial system the rest of the world supports, but here in Canada, you're innocent until proven guilty. EDIT: I swear to God if I didn't love this game so much, the [mostly] shit community would be fucking intolerable.
