This. Your gear from pre-patch is fine, just look for items in your inventory with flickering icons. Get rid of them.

You can still pick up bugged gear... several hard hats and cowboy hats I've picked up have caused the issue, as well.

Not my thread, sir. I am merely posting in it. -1 For the fifteenth time, my entire point is that releasing a patch on a Friday is a bad idea for this very reason. No one is around to fix it for three days. That is not good business. That's the only thing I've been trying to push in all of my posts, but people don't seem to be able to grasp that. You can't post "LULZ ALFER" when someone complains they released a patch that caused more problems than it fixed the day before the weekend. That has nothing to do with the alpha. That has everything to do with a bad call. I freaking love this game; I've got 300 hours logged already. I'm going to give my opinion. If you don't like it, don't read it/reply to it. As for the fix, I actually discovered how to fix it on my own and then posted it in someone else's thread where they were suggesting modifying .pbo files which only helps in the cases that the problem item was a weapon attachment. The problem can be anything: head lamps, hard hats, beans, weapon attachments, etc. I've personally experienced those items causing grief myself. So yeah, I'm good. But that wasn't the point. Now that everything is blown way out of proportion because we have so many forum sheriffs on here trying to make themselves appear all-knowing, I'm just shaking my head. My apologies for swearing, but I hardly view "fuck" as offensive when used as an adverb. No one's gonna read the post anyway, so what's the point, eh?

For those of you posting that people need to get a better computer, you're idiots. A memory leak will slowly cause any computer to crash. Unless of course you're running that new infinite memory computer that just came out, /facepalm. The people who aren't experiencing the problem have just been very lucky. The issue is caused by certain items in your inventory that have flickering icons. Drop these, and you're fine. If you're around someone else with the flickering icons, you will lag the same as if you had it on your person. Anyway, enough time wasted on this.

Or am I the only one who thinks that? I'm all for them fucking up and having to hotfix something mid-week. That's cool, because it's the best they can do. This wasn't the best they could do; this was poorly orchestrated.

It's funny how you guys are so fucking brainwashed. Only on the internet can you convince people it's acceptable to charge money for 15% of something. We're all aware the game is an alpha. But you charged money for it, so at least keep it fucking working. I don't care what you implement; I just want the game to run when I want to play it. If it's in such a terrible state that you're not even sure it's going to run when you load it, don't charge money for it. Then you have the right to tell people to shut the fuck up when it doesn't work. I paid $30 for a game that I know isn't yet complete. I expect errors along the way. I anticipate problems. But dropping a fairly large patch on Friday, grabbing your coat at the door and telling people you'll get it working Monday is borderline retarded. Release the patch on a Monday when your staff is, y'know, working. This isn't a couple dozen people you're fucking over, there are hundreds of thousands of us playing DayZ. Keep ridin' them nuts, guys.

I'm really getting sick of these condescending posts. Way to point out the fucking obvious, besides the fact that you said "pre-alpha". It's not "pre-alpha", it's "alpha". If you have nothing better to spew in a thread than "LULZ ALFER", kindly keep your trap shut. We realize it's a fucking alpha, but we did pay some bones for it, so it should at least be moderately fucking playable. Dropping a game-breaking patch on a Friday is a huge blunder. Period.

The Mosin kickback is currently worse than letting my ten year old fire it. Apparently our characters have zero upper body strength.

Look closer at your icons. I guarantee this is the issue. It worked on my computer and on my wife's computer which have two completely different configurations. It also worked on a friend's computer. I had a hard time tracking down the flashing of icons on certain items. e.g: the white hard hat. You could also be in the vicinity of an item that's glitched. it doesn't necessarily have to be on your person. Even if another character comes close to yours who has glitched items, it affects you as well. For the weekend I'd recommend experimenting with your friends to see if you can play together, otherwise adventure solo until Monday when they begin looking at this issue.

I don't KOS all the time, just... most of it. Me and DeatHTaX just ran all the way from Cherno to NWAF to give a guy who posted on the forums here morphine to mend his broken leg. So yeah, we only do it 90% of the time. ;d

Haha, golden. I keep an extra Long Range Scope in my bags for this purpose. However, I find it more effective to stick it in the back corner of a hangar and wait for someone to come along, then reach out and touch them. ;3

Was just playing with the wife and a friend. We decided to quit for dinner after making our way from Berezino to the north-eastern airstrip. We ran to some pine trees in the field just south of the airstrip, waited for about a minute in-game, then logged out. Upon logging in an hour or so later, my character appeared just in front of the prison on the hill in plain view of basically everywhere. The first sounds I hear? The FNX popping off, followed by, "You are dead". Yeah. Fucking awesome. This isn't the first that this has happened either; it just happens to be the first time that I ended up taking bullets to the face because of this terrible system. I definitely waited long enough. We were there for at least a full minute. Fuck. I agree that we need a valid logout system to deter combat-loggers, but this is not it. I've seen negative feedback when the World of Warcraft logout system has been mentioned, but... why? Find somewhere safe, click exit, a countdown timer appears, after the [20] second countdown, your character is logged out where you fucking logged out. Not ten feet from where you logged out. Not a mile from where you logged out. But exactly where you logged out. Crazy, right? I'm posting a screenshot of this system from World of Warcraft that I just took in case there's some confusion:

YOU ARE DEAD FIX: 1) Exit game. 2) Launch game. 3) Make a new character (seems to have to be a different model than your current character). 4) Change in-game name to something different (bottom-right corner of the main screen). 5) Open server list. Choose a different server than the one you died on. 6) Cross fingers. 7) If it didn't work, try it again. I've had to do it more than once a couple of times.
