Greetings! Unlike seemingly every other thread complaining about KOS, I've created this thread specifically for those of us who partake adamantly, or at least dabble, in this play-style. Does every player you see scare the shit out of you? Do you kill other players strictly for their loot? Do you enjoy the tears that emanate from your victims from the Great Beyond (a.k.a. the forums)? Whatever your reason might be, I feel that this completely legitimate play-style should have its own abode. Hell, there're dozens of threads complaining about it. Medics hate us. Role-players hate us. Sometimes we hate each other. It'll be an uphill battle the whole way, but I feel that the KOS Creed will triumph in the end! Post whatever you'd like here: your favorite KOS experience, viable KOS strategies (e.g: camping locations, ways to lure others into the open, etc.), or anything else. There are no rules, just like in-game! Feel free to flame us, berate us, yell at us, cry on our shoulders (yes, we'll listen, there there little buddy), menstruate on our carpet, ANYTHING GOES! Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. KOS shall free me.

I believe the bug is actually with the server list. When a regular server has 3PP set to "disabled", that server then shows up on the list as hardcore.

The SKS is amazing... :T I'd say most of my kills since its implementation onto stable have been via SKS. The PU just makes it sweeter.

I haven't noticed this posted anywhere yet, but I just came across this while playing hardcore with my kid: We both tried picking it up and equipping it, and we could both see that it was displaying as purple instead of the normal red and grey on each other. I haven't noticed this before. As a matter of fact, I literally had a red hoodie equipped the other day and didn't have this occur.

Wow, yeah, I totally am. I forgot my hardcore character was female. It's the only female I've ever rolled; it made me feel like a creep so I switched my default character back to male. xDIt's strange that a red and black hoodie would display as purple just because I'm a chick, though. #datrealism

There is no effective KOS deterrent as long as Rick has his trusty golden bottle:

When filling multiple canteens, you need to drag them individually into your hands. The quickbar automatically selects the first canteen in your inventory starting with your shirt and working down.

Cheats are currently everywhere. I play both regular and hardcore on popular servers (ARC, KK Gaming, ZombZ, OCN.net, etc.) and I've seen a metric fuckton of teleporters, people who blatantly see through walls, people who can knock you out from 50m away with their fists, people who move through walls (I've heard via some .pbo file removal?) among other things. Until they're fixed I've been avoiding the more popular areas like airfields and cities. A bandit I may be, but a cheater I am not. :3

We don't care if the persons partaking in said transactions end up being scammed, we don't want another pay-to-win game. This is a game based on realism. I'm fairly (although nothing would surprise me with this development team) certain that this is not the direction DayZ will ever take. Literally 50% of the game is spent scrounging about for items. If you take that away, you're inviting a plethora of people who solely want to play this game like a legitimate first person shooter.

While this guy is terribly aggravating within every thread he posts, he's actually correct in this case. SLI/CF support is generally one of the last things to be added to a game. The Real Virtuality 3 engine is pretty terrible from the ground up, but for some reason Rocket swears by it. You know it's terrible/terribly optimized when you can run current generation games at maximum settings and still achieve 60+ frames per second, but fire up an ArmA title and you're running at normal or lower settings just to squeeze out a few more frames.

Pay-to-win can suck my banana. It ruins games. If you're not willing to play the game the way it's intended to be played, don't buy the game. If you don't like gearing up, don't buy the game.

With a rig like yours, 20-30 frames per second in the city is pretty low. After I overclocked mine, I went from that ballpark to 35+ and my rig is three years old. I was just trying to be helpful, kind sir. :3

I care because this crap needs to be quashed at the onset. This type of crap ruins games. You were looking for money dude, don't deny it. If you're looking for "in-game friends", why would you post your email? Totes creepy, brah. What could someone possibly offer an "experienced, geared player" who has just started the game? Um... hmm... yeah, money. Discuss.
