apologists are delaying development.
Grimey Rick replied to pacific_coast's topic in General Discussion
I don't necessarily disagree with the OP; I generally don't hesitate to stir the waters if I feel it's necessary. But, this thread... -
How to play experimental branch?
Grimey Rick replied to joey123 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Turn off DayZ before clicking the beta tab. -
How I Appear as Friendly as Possible
Grimey Rick replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I have much better luck with camouflage gear and outsmarting people, myself. -
I feel like these guys have just finished reading C++ for U++.

Duct tape works. I use it IRL to gag my wife when we play so I don't have to endure her constant barrage of linguistic torture. "How much more running?" "I want to shoot someone." "I'm bored." "OMG I heard a noise. OMG I heard a noise. OMG I heard a noise." "Why am I playing this game? My Farmville is suffering because of you." "I want a divorce."

need more players on the first person servers!
Grimey Rick replied to qww's topic in General Discussion
You guys all realize you can look through any wall in 1PP, right? Just making sure you were all aware. I'm all for the "idea" of Hardcore, but at the moment it's just as broken as its counterpart. -
Where are the updates? **crickets chirping**
Grimey Rick replied to Spinnyd223's topic in General Discussion
So many stupid points in your post, but I'll just pick on the fact that GTA IV was terrible. Rock* even admitted it. Point being, you can devote 1,000 people to a game over a long period of time and it still has the potential of being fucking garbage. -
What music hits you when you play?
Grimey Rick replied to IReadTheAgreement's topic in General Discussion
I stalked some guys around Elektro today playing the Jaws theme music. They were freaking out, haha. -
[DAYZ STANDALONE] I need someone to come to a server and give me a wooden stick in the town of Staroye

LOL. So many beans. You win the forums. EDIT: Because edit.

Do you know what's really bothering me? The amount of grown men around here using My Little Ponies (or whatever it is) as avatars on these forums. Highly worrying.

Different types of shoes = More or less noise when walking?
Grimey Rick replied to rydekk's topic in General Discussion
This. Have a friend run away from you and listen closely. You'd be surprised how quickly his footsteps fade. It's also a good idea to test this with voice communication, not unlike the Verizon (I think it was?) commercials. Step, step, step... "Can you hear me now?" -
I don't mean to sound like a douche, but why do you have five accounts? I'm amazed that I even bought one.

Check list: Did i just got killed by an hacker or not?
Grimey Rick replied to rydekk's topic in General Discussion
The only thing I agree with in the OP is posting a video of the hacker in question. The rest is kind of silly. Definitely not a sticky. -
Maybe you should do a little reading on how the hacks themselves work before "dismissing them out of hand". A simple google search will reveal all. It was desync, but it was intentional desync. ARMA hacks force server desync to achieve teleportation, etc. If the hacker in question wasn't blatantly running at walls in spots where it makes no sense whatsoever, like in the pub, I might believe it wasn't hacks. Or if the person recording the video had obvious desync/lag on his screen while interacting with the zombie and his environment in general, I might believe it wasn't hacks. Every time he attempted to open a door, it opened instantly. If he was desyncing, that wouldn't happen. If you try the angle of the other guy lagging, then explain to me how he was able to track the guy recording the video with precision movements. When you're desyncing, you can't open doors. They appear as open for other players, but you yourself don't see them as such until your client synchronizes with the server. Have you ever lagged in this game? When you lag, you literally can't do anything but run away. You can't see other people running around, and if you do, they're running aimlessly in a straight line until your client catches up. No way in hell are you following a guy who's doing the old slip 'n' hide, bobbing and weaving through houses, walls, etc. Anyway, think what you want. I'm not trying to be snide, I'm just amazed at the level of credibility people give desync. When you're desyncing, you're not able to do any of the shit this guy does in the video. Period.

Due to a combination of extreme boredom and mild curiosity, I thought I'd try to amass a massive zombie train of death in Chapaevsk after a server restart. The results were... disappointing. The maximum number of zombies I was able to have board my train was four at any given time. Once a fifth zombie started chasing me, one of the original zombies would stop and refuse to continue the chase with a sulky look on their face. Fun.

Cool, I wonder why they lowered the limit. After all of the server optimizations, you'd think they'd raise the limit.

This wasn't lag/desync. All I do is hunt and kill people. Sometimes I'm killed, but not very often. Most of my deaths are from shit like this. As someone else pointed out, the zombie acted normally and wasn't skipping around at all. The guy recording the video wasn't rubber-banding. The guy who was chasing him was blatantly running through walls, he wasn't ducking corners or anything, he was running right at them. If you can't tell the difference, you shouldn't be giving your opinion. There are so many hackers in this game; too many of them get dismissed as desync. He didn't desync for three minutes straight. My opinion: hack.

Can you die for an injury to your ... backpack ?
Grimey Rick replied to tmbt's topic in General Discussion
This is 100% accurate. I just killed a guy who was camping underneath one of the jail floors in Balota. He was attempting to open up a can o' whack-a-mole on people coming into the jail by crouching through the floor, shooting, then laying prone again. He shot me, ruining my shirt, breaking my arm, and causing me to bleed. I dashed upstairs and fixed myself up. I then watched from upstairs through a little vantage spot through the railing as he was crawling around downstairs. At one point I saw his Hunting Backpack so I just sprayed the area. He died. I mocked the mitochondria straight out of his eukaryotic cells, baby. +1 for this thread. EDIT: Because bored and playing with MSPaint: -

I guess I'll go back to using the Improvised Backpack. IIRC, it's the least protruding backpack. -
The reason why you shouldn't use a Ruger 10/22 for PVP

Because they haven't bothered fixing it since launch. I use it too. -
Balota no longer spawns tac vests/certain gear?
Grimey Rick replied to exomonkeyman's topic in General Discussion
The OP was referring to the Tactical Vests. A couple of posters on the first page for some reason brought up the Press Vest. I find Press Vests often, but haven't found a Tactical Vest for the last few patches. -
Yeah. I'm aware of that. I just wanted to see how many would actually chase me in their current state. Really? Even brushing shoulders with them, as soon as that fifth zombie started chasing me one of them instantly stopped, no matter how tightly I ran circles around it. Could you post some pictures by any chance? I'd be interested to see your technique. :3

Balota no longer spawns tac vests/certain gear?
Grimey Rick replied to exomonkeyman's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't spawn at the moment. I challenge ANYONE to provide a screenshot within the last few weeks of them finding a Tactical Vest. I have server-hopped like a mother trying to find one. I know where they used to spawn, but they just don't spawn now. The same goes for the claims of people finding the Riders Jacket on stable. If someone can do that, I will humbly admit their eliteness. -
If each of the now 80 or so developers since it was doubled (let's assume it's 80) made $50,000US this year working on this project, you'd already be at $40,000,000US just paying their salaries. I have no idea what they'd make working on this project, my point is, $30,000,000US is pocket change these days. Last year I made $292,000US running a crane. Sitting on my ass FOR THE WIN. Who needs university?
