PSA: Game development takes a while, but...
Grimey Rick replied to Beizs's topic in General Discussion
Seriously? Who do you think? Yeah, that's fine, but I guess my point is, you're never going to get through to the whiners. You're literally just wasting your energy. I, and many others here, agree with you, because we have some semblance of common sense. Unfortunately, most people who post here don't share that attribute. I like to compare the DayZ community to a horde of first graders on their morning recess. They're running around like crazy people, yelling and scream, and more than half of them are going to be crying at some point. -
PSA: Game development takes a while, but...
Grimey Rick replied to Beizs's topic in General Discussion
What do you hope to accomplish with this thread? It'll be done when it's done. If people don't like it, they can move along. Haters gonna hate. -
Update to the latest Nvidia drivers if you just installed/upgraded to Windows 10. One of the first drivers for Windows 10 I used caused stuttering in DayZ and World of Warcraft.
-
TIL that DayZ runs much smoother on Windows 10.
Grimey Rick replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
YMMV, I guess. I saw and felt a performance increase in both of my rigs. Also, not sure why people are hating on the user interface. I'll post pictures of mine later. It's super sexy. -
Why aren't zombies carrying anything?
Grimey Rick replied to Sperglord's topic in General Discussion
It's not unreasonable for people to want a feature as simple as being able to search corpses for useful items. Things like matches or keys to an Audi A8 would be extremely useful in an apocalyptic situation. -
After watching the video, I feel that you should change the title to – The Best "WEE" To Get An M4 Dayz SA 0.57

Does it really matter? Who gives a fuck? The OP's post, even though it contained several good ideas, was a pain in the ass to read. Does that even matter? Not really. But, if we're going to nitpick, you can't really compare the OP's post to that of the guy who complained about it (albeit unnecessarily) in one sentence. Jesus.

UN Helmets and beret spawn fix info ?
Grimey Rick replied to Regwilliam's topic in General Discussion
If it makes you feel better, I've killed a metric fuckton of these guys. Me and DeatHTaX even wore UN helmets to infiltrate their group in Cherno one time. It was hilarious. -
Yeah, I'm a revolver fan boy. I've pretty much used the revolver (Magnum) and Mosin since DayZ released. I've recently moved to the Winchester/B95 though. This game still has too many network problems for me to get into CQC if I can help it. After the first twenty times of unloading an entire magazine into someone's back, then turning around and spraying a magazine into me, and us both dying as a result, I started sniping.
-
All I do is snipe in this game. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've been spotted when I didn't want to be. I still don't understand this profile thing people keep going on about. Can you provide some sort of link displaying this rendering issue that a backpack supposedly makes worse?
-
You sniper without a backpack...? There are a handful of camouflage backpacks for this very purpose...
-
Everyone would always pick the closest spawn to Balota or Cherno. Don't you remember any Mod server ever that did that?

Right on, good stuff! ♥ A couple of points: Congratulations on using MX-4! If Jesus ever built a computer, it's what he'd use. Your i7-2500, if an unlocked "K" variant, has plenty of life left in it. Very few games benefit from hyper-threading, and the 2500 has been known to hit ridiculous speeds while maintaining stability. Hardware is so far ahead of software at this point that it's borderline hilarious. An aftermarket cooler and mild overclock would do wonders for your gaming experience. My old system (with the 2600K) didn't need to be upgraded at all; I just get an itch to build a new one every few years. The 2600K didn't bottleneck two GTX 980 Ti video cards running in SLI at all. If you even pushed the 2500 to 4.2GHz, you'd be good for at least another year. From a performance standpoint, DayZ is a very strange game. I wouldn't worry too much about hitting 80ºC while it's running. Your processor is perfectly fine at that temperature. Have you tried upping the settings? The GTX 580 (is it the 1.5GB or 3GB version?), while not a top-tier card, is certainly no slouch. It can handle DayZ quite well. If you bump your video settings up a bit and offload some stress from your processor onto your video card, that very well may help keep it running cooler.
-
Well, first of all, the stock cooler is literally a paper weight for the 25/6/7/00(K) processors. What aftermarket paste are you using? Most people recommend AS5, but I've never been a fan of it. It takes a week to fully cure, and is no better than most other pastes. I'd recommend using MX-4 as it cures within hours and performs better than AS5. If you end up looking for a new CPU cooler, I'd recommend the Thermalright Silver Arrow Extreme or Noctua NH-D14. I ran the Silver Arrow for three years cooling a 2600K running at 5.2GHz. That's pretty impressive for air cooling. Also, it didn't hurt that I lucked into a great chip. :D Any of the new Corsair H series liquid cooling units are great, too. They also look better and take up less space (so you get better air flow through your case) than those massive air coolers. I'm currently using the Corsair H100i Extreme on my 5960X and all is well.
-
I didn't really read the whole thread; did you mention what CPU cooler you're using?
-
80•C isn't even that hot for a 2500 under load. The 580 will be safe to 103•C, too. Your components aren't in danger, bro. Take it from a guy who ran a 2600K at 5.2GHz from 3.4GHz stock for THREE YEARS. :) Currently have my 5960X at 4.6GHz from 3.0GHz stock. Have fun.

Learn to quote. Lord, that post was a mess. Someone with so much experience on a forum should know better! Monetary investment can and generally does represent passion. Money is important, and I throw a lot of money at a passion of mine. You're a guy who rides around on a bicycle and is surrounded by billionaires. I believe you. Really. "As far as you're concerned" doesn't overly concern me. It still doesn't detract from the facts to which you will remain unaware. ;)Personal banter aside, your views pertaining to killing on sight are pretty inaccurate. The game will be a survival game. Right now it's not. Even when it becomes a survival game, killing other people for their stuff will become even more predominant. It's a viable survival tactic. The only way I'd work together with other people in DayZ is if they added some feature that gave me real life money for so doing. To remain somewhat on topic, I support cash81's decision to lay waste to all cyclists in this video game that isn't real. Still with me, bro? It's not real. :)

You're my new favorite person on the forums, and a fellow Canadian, to boot. I spent several years in British Columbia (beautiful province, btw) erecting powerlines for Valard. My first few years as an apprentice crane operator, actually. Ah, memories. :beans:

I've been around since the Mod launched, just... not as the Grimey bastard I am now. ;) Shooting someone without a, "Hey, g'day, mate! 'Ow's it goin' today, then?" does not equate to griefing. I don't want to talk to people. I don't like people. I shoot them because I want their stuff. If being shot/blown up without being properly greeted ruins someone's day, maybe they should consider a game that doesn't include assault rifles, grenades, and fucking land mines. I'm passionate about motorcycles, jiu-jitsu, and cranes... but not to the point of making myself look silly. I spend roughly $20,000 a year on my Hayabusa with which I frequent the drag strip. That's pretty passionate, considering I've got almost $40,000 sunk into it before the annual costs. But yeah, passion, right? That was just a jab at your "rugged masculinity", ha. The wife's doing fine. I make lots of money, we have a big house, and we go on half a dozen trips a year. I don't get the last comment, though? When you kill someone in a video game, you don't generally masturbate. I mean, I don't. Maybe I'm weird? I just quickly loot them and move on. Because, y'know, I shoot people for their stuff. Not to send them to therapy.

I consider a post constructive if it: contains pertinent information;is funny;is a well-executed, subtle troll;doesn't make the poster look like a massive douche.Your last post that I quoted contained none of the above. And in all actuality, I'm the first person who should be name-calling; I have to put up with ridiculous posts like the one you just made every day on these forums. Do you know how mentally fatiguing it is to read something that's such a monumental fail? Like, did you actually read your post? Did you even think about it while you were typing it? We all understand that you're into bicycles. A little too much, apparently. We're all now aware that you flex your tight little spandex covered booty more than the rest of us. Congratulations! I stopped riding a bike when I was thirteen. Whatever floats your boat, bro. As far as his "troll play style", shooting on sight is by no means trolling. If you see someone defenseless on a bike and lay waste to them, you just saved yourself a lot of time and energy by getting yourself an easy kill. And trust me, at this point, considering the average IQ level of a DayZ player these days, you'd be doing them a favor. The loot is much more valuable than some half-wit you'll meet in this game. Anyway, since you're so "rugged" (LOLOLLL) and have so much manly energy, can you go plow my wife for me so I don't have to? kthxbai

Rofl, the level of douche you achieved in one post is astounding. 10/10

winter clothing = some snow areas in the future?

No, I think it hints at tropical islands being added to Chernarus in the future. -
TIL that DayZ runs much smoother on Windows 10.
Grimey Rick replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
They ran benchmarks on two shitty laptops, then played Tomb Raider for a little bit on an average computer. No one was/is expecting an operating system to suddenly double the frame-rate, bro. Astounding comparison of Windows 8 and 10, even though I was discussing going from Windows 7 to 10. I've stuck with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 for six years because all of the actual improvements Windows 8/8.1 offered over its predecessor were far outweighed by just how awful the operating system itself functioned and interacted with the user. Now, gamers have a viable upgrade path to Windows 10 that combines the best of both worlds; don't like the Metro styling of Windows 8, but want the improvements to DirectX (one of the reasons I purchased and installed Windows 8 was the rumored increased performance in Battlefield 4, a game I played the shit out of) it brings? Will you miss the stability and familiarity of an operating system theme that's been going strong for twenty years? If so, get Windows 10. And I definitely wouldn't call what I experienced with DayZ a placebo effect. If anything, I was going into my initial trial of Windows 10 as a supreme cynic (go figure). I didn't expect anything much to come of it after the letdown that was Windows 8. But I was pleasantly surprised. I format my C: drive every three to six months to keep everything running peachy-keen. I've never, ever experienced such smooth game play in Windows 7. In DayZ, it feels like I have Vertical Sync enabled, but I don't. Again, I wasn't running through the streets shouting, "Everyone! Have you heard? Windows 10 is here, and it's amaaaaaaaaaaaaziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing! It makes me want to sing!" The best part is, this was literally right out of the box. No backups to install from, I didn't have to sit there for three hours letting the piece of shit that is Windows 7's Windows Update pick and choose what updates it felt like installing in apparent random order since Service Pack 1 launched four years ago. Just install Windows 10, download Steam, download DayZ, and fire it up. Anyway, I'm gonna go inject some more placebo into my bloodstream with this random syringe I found labeled "Micro$oft".
