Anyone else experiencing teleporting players in combat?
Grimey Rick posted a topic in General Discussion
I've been in a few close range fights since the patch dropped, and I've experienced people flickering around me when in melee range. This hasn't occurred when I'm shooting from a decent range, only up close. It obviously makes defending yourself extremely difficult. Anyone else experiencing this? -
Ballistic helmet painting not working?
Grimey Rick replied to korpisoturi (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Why would you be able to fix a ballistic helmet with a sewing kit...? The same goes for any vests with kevlar. You can't fix kevlar with a needle and thread... I don't follow your logic. -
That's what I meant when I mentioned their pathing. They can walk through walls, they can block you in rooms now, they spawn randomly out of thin air; all of that combined with the new "melee system" makes playing this game a headache. I seem to remember many forum members here claiming that zombie AI and pathing were going to be one of the last things worked on in DayZ. Let's see if the same people defend the developers' decision to add a fuckton more of them while they're still broken as hell.

They shouldn't have added more zombies/respawning zombies until they fix the zombie pathing. It's extremely frustrating playing the new patch as it currently stands.

That sounds reasonable. I just tested it with my wife; I had her run around me with her gun out, and it appeared like she was flickering in and out all around me, Dragonball Z style. I then had her strip naked (in-game!) and do the same thing. It didn't occur when she had no items on. Also, on a completely unrelated note, saline bags and blood bags give me the "there is nothing left" message when I try to use them on others. -

New Patch - Who's still having fun?
Grimey Rick replied to makomachine's topic in General Discussion
I liked watching a guy who kept shooting at me run away like a little girl with a parade of zombies behind him. -
Don't waste your breath on him, he's a troll. You can explain things to him until your fingers are numb and he'll come up with some nonsensical dumbassery to further rile you up.

Dean stating mouse acceleration fix is coming:https://twitter.com/rocket2guns/status/438641262967930880 There will be movement penalties for using different weapons, but mouse acceleration is not how it will be solved. DayZ is a twitch game (as is any game that isn't turn based):http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitch_gameplay Mouse acceleration unreliable: http://www.ddgamers.com/archives/661 Some Quake players use very small amounts of acceleration for rail-gunning effectiveness. e.g: Cooller and Cypher use ~0.150 mouse acceleration. Not very much at all. They also use raw input. Virtually no professional CS or SC2 player uses mouse acceleration as building a muscle memory through raw input is crucial. Also, CPL wasn't an event you could walk into and register for. It was on an invite basis. Anything else?

Obvious troll is obvious. Again, for the fourth time, the dev team has acknowledged the current wonky mouse movement as unintentional/problematic. I swear to fuck you guys would argue that the world is flat. It's amazing. Also Weedz, please explain to me how I have no idea what I'm talking about. I played competitive CS for four years. I attended CPL with Malicious Intent and Pernicious Vengeance. We competed in upper seed CAL-m and CAL-i for our final season. We did pretty fucking good for having zero sponsors and all going to school at the same time. If you used mouse acceleration, you didn't make it to upper league play. It's completely unreliable. TL;DR: Mouse movement is currently a work in progress and has been admitted as such by the dev team. NOT WORKING AS INTENDED.

You either didn't read the article, didn't understand it, or are trying to defend your earlier comment in vain. Any game on the market except turn-based games like Final Fantasy are twitch. Twitch encompasses many genres, predominantly that of FPS and RTS. Like I've already mentioned, there are varying degrees of twitch. Obviously games like Quake require faster reaction time than games like DayZ (usually), but that doesn't mean the latter isn't twitch. TL;DR: Twitch gameplay == any game that requires sudden reaction/movement. There are varying degrees of twitch.

Your whole argument is hardware specific. Different hardware reacts differently with various software settings. I've yet to see a professional gamer use a high sensitivity; you're shooting yourself in the foot in so doing. The development team has even admitted the mouse response and acceleration is wonky. You're defending one of their errors when even they recognize it as a problem. DayZ is a FPS first and a survival game second, you need only look at the mod or visit Elektro for proof.

Find a flaw in my logic, because this seems too simple.

Why not just automatically assign a player to a server within their latency preferences when they click "Play"? That way we'd have more full servers, we'd eliminate server hopping, and it'd be impossible to ghost. If you wanted to play with friends, implement a user interface for groups on the main menu. When you're in a group, click "Play". You're all assigned to a server within your parameters. If a friend logs on, leave the server and add him to your group. OR, implement a way for your friend to join your group while the rest of you are playing, and put your friend who just logged on in a queue to join your server. -

Those are some crazy statistics, dude! This is a survival game. If people leave DayZ because it's too hard, good riddance. I requested this thread be closed. Hopefully they extend the server timer to an hour (as per a suggestion made here), then you guys can server hop once per hour and be merry. -

You obviously haven't read the thread. Fuck. I've integrated two points of constructive criticism into my idea. The rest of the thread is people just flaming. Show me which post I have neglected to incorporate, and I'll think of a workaround. EDIT: I could quote many times where ghosting was possible since the inception of the timer. If you're pinned down in any area for more than ten minutes, ghosting is plausible. Fucking tryhards. LOL GHOSTING IS A NON-ISSUE IF YOU GET GHOSTED YOU'RE BAD. Yeah, maybe if there's only one guy and he spawns in right behind you. EDIT #2: You're using a very loose logic, there. Just because you "can" currently run around and gear up on a low population server doesn't mean it's working as intended. That's the next best thing to server hopping. -
How often does the Epi-Pen work?
Grimey Rick replied to OldWolf (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Epinephrine currently only cures shock. If you were knocked out due to blood loss or anything else, it will not work. They are changing it so that it works on everything except heart attacks in a future patch, I read. -

You're stuck in a jail. You have three people surrounding you. One of them decides to ghost inside the wall. He logs back on your server, spawning inside the wall. Meanwhile, you are unable to leave the jail as you're still pinned down by the other two players. You can be shot from several places within the wall. What do you do in that situation, dude? Seriously, I'd like to hear it. Do you run outside the jail? No, that'll get you killed. Do you wait inside the jail? No, that'll get you killed. Let me know. The 290 second maximum timer is nothing in terms of ghosting. Most standoffs take longer than a few minutes. I've had some take as long as a couple of hours. -

The game is meant to be played on full servers. It's not meant to be played skulking around a deserted server without any sense of danger whatsoever. The queue (with the current number of servers) would be non-existent as 90% of them are empty already. If people want to play on private hives, and they end up being introduced, that's fine. As long as they're separate, that would in no way impact the suggestion I have brought forth. It would only apply to public servers. I fail to see your "logic-crushing". I don't really give a rat's ass what they decide to implement, as long as it works. It currently does not work. The game is an alpha, I understand that, but when one makes a suggestion about potentially improving the game, he's just trolled by a bunch of people who do nothing more than sit around the forums denouncing anything they don't agree with. There are no counter-arguments with any validity whatsoever. There is just constant attempted berating. Ah well. C'est la vie. -
I'll accept your challenge when you can produce a horde of flesh-eating zombies. This is a game. The mouse movement is an obvious mistake on their end; they've admitted as much. It's the clunkiest movement system ever. I don't want to have to swear at a game when I'm trying to turn around or fit through a door in a building. It's not realistic. Also, competitive FPS gamers generally use very low sensitivities. They generally can't do a 180º spin without a metric fuckton of wrist movement/effort. Hence the reason why these exist: http://www.xtracpads.com/products.php?prod_id=5§ion=1

I don't server hop for loot. I also like how you use overzealousness to try to prove your points, though. It's indicative of someone who's not very skilled at conveying his ideas in an intelligent way. But, that's cool. The in-game threats are cool, too. Reading some of the stupid deaths you've suffered (and unfortunately felt the need to articulate on the forums) basically removes any credibility from any threat you could make, haha. Also, bra = . Did you mean, "brah"? Link me to a developer saying the way they intend to combat these issues is with an increased timer. That's news to me. It's also the worst idea ever. There are too many factors that can take place to justify using an "exponentially" longer timer: client crashes, admin kicks, etc. There's no failure of understanding, I follow the twittersphere and other forms of social media pertaining to DayZ quite closely, and I haven't seen that mentioned. So yeah, toss me a link. "Hey guys, what's the best way to fight the current exploitive behavior behind ghosting and server hopping?" "LOL LONGER TIMERS." The memes were accurate and depicted what I could've wasted more time typing to you in a few seconds of Photoshop. A picture's worth a thousand words. You should follow suit. Again, you're contributing nothing. Your trolling is weak. -
Fuck man, you misuse the term "twitch" in every post you make on the subject. This is a twitch shooter. ARMA is a twitch shooter. Unreal Tournament is a twitch shooter. Just because they're not played at the same speed doesn't mean the former isn't twitch. You're saying you don't need fast/"twitch" reaction time in DayZ? If that's the case, you must die a lot. Read this, and learn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitch_gameplay

That is the nature of this project thus far. It's their game and we've already given them our money, so they don't give a fuck. Mouse acceleration has been an issue since DAY ONE yet they still avoid solving it. It can't be that hard of a fucking fix to fix the X and Y axis values. Jesus Christ.

Server hoppers do ruin everything. We need to design a game for the future, not tweak its current state. Current state DayZ is a joke. We all know you server hop, you've made a thousand threads about it, but it's not working as intended. Argue it all you want, broseph. No? 1) Not when it's considered exploitive behavior to do so. In the alpha it's not such a big deal, but gearing up on a low population server only to switch to a full server when you're ready to actually play the game is once the game's released. 2) Then add them to your friends list. If you don't want to add them to your friends list, obviously you don't care that much about playing with them. 3) This game is 100% designed around player interaction. You're not only robbing yourself of the game's core intent when you run around on a deserted server, you're using a weak excuse to supersede a gimmicky mechanic. Me too. This. That would be an easy fix by the time the game launches. Once these badmins are actually policed and server rules enforced, they'll be fixed easily enough. I do too, it's all good. But what's to stop you from farming your clan's server for loot and then switching over to full servers to do whatever it is your clan does? It doesn't matter if you're murdering or medic-ing, still exploitive. If you're a serious clan, I'm sure you already have a website/forums and a Team Speak server set up. It'd be very easy to organize with those tools. I'm not going to flame you, I just don't want to be tied to a single server because sometimes it's full, sometimes it's not. -

Shit is broken. If you debate that, you're obviously part of the problem. Server hopping happens. Ghosting happens. People run around on empty servers gearing up, then switch to full servers to kill people. WORKING AS INTENDED. Cute meme reference. They hurt, don't they? See above. I feel that's the direction BI needs to go if they're serious about DayZ. Having private hives for a game like this in its mod version is one thing, but this is its own product. Unfortunately, this isn't Counter-Strike where you just jump on a server and kill people; we need some sort of stability from the producers of the game and can't continue relying on the public (because the public isn't moderated, and stuff happens, e.g: kicking for no reason, server restarts when you kill an admin, etc.). -

You haven't found a flaw, you're acting as if you came straight out of Elwynn. QQ? Really? I've been trying to come up with an actual fix to the current state of the game. My suggestion has nothing to do with loot respawn. Loot respawn will not fix the server hopping. If loot is random, hop to where the most loot spawns (Cherno/Elektro) on a low population server. So yeah, amazing idea dude. I've been taking people's suggestions and implementing them into my thought process; so far I've been able to address the two main issues stated: Persistent storage, and;Differences in latency with friends due to location So far all of your posts have been pointless. But keep farmin' 'em.
