I enjoyed the video, but how did you not die there? They had so many chances to kill you, yet somehow you managed to survive. I see now why your name is surviv0r. Well deserved! ♥

Would you support global chat being a sever option?

I was king of Barrens Chat. Hard to imagine, right? -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

Great post. -
It's nothing against you. Your heart is in the right place. It's just amazing what $90 doesn't get you in this situation. Cheers!
-
Right? I can just imagine the stimulating conversation that would go on in the "VIP" lounge, too. It'd just be numerous discussions vainly trying to justify why they wasted $90 on everything in the Supporter Edition, lol.

TIL that DayZ runs much smoother on Windows 10.

Who cares what Microsoft does with your data? If you worry about Microsoft someday becoming Skynet, then don't use a computer. -
This has worked since at least December of 2013 and has been discussed on these boards several times over the course of the Early Access. There was also a bug directly related to this that enabled you to have an unlimited, semi-automatic IZH. Still, good video bro.
-
Why would you even want that? Lol.
-
Right? It's actually pretty funny when you think about it. A lot of people who've purchased DayZ are obviously waiting for it to mature, but those numbers are pretty serious.

Cheers. Upgrading shouldn't even be an option, there's always an issue. Clean installs ftw! -
Orlok? More like OWNEDlok. LOLOLOL Okay, continue with your thread, guys. Also: feasible* ♥

r/Games AMA with Lead Producer Brian Hicks

You're not missing much. The odd interview like this, but that's about it. I saw this on reddit earlier, but I don't even bother commenting there anymore. It's slightly ironic, because in the Dean era, reddit was the only medium I really bothered to make serious posts on. I have faith in DayZ's development. It's been a little sketchy at times, but you can really tell through talking to these guys that they're very passionate and very involved with the project. Good read. -
This just in: TC hasn't even played DayZ, yet his diagnosis of its current state sends the forums into an outrage. Astounding.

I'm not sure exactly how it's supposed to work, but I have a legitimate copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and a legitimate copy of Windows 8.1 Pro. I was also part of the Windows Insider Preview long enough for Microsoft to give me a free copy of Windows 10 Pro, which is what I'm using. When I installed Windows 10, I just downloaded the installation tool from their website, installed it, and skipped the part where it was asking me for a serial key. After the installation, I logged into my Microsoft account and it activated itself for me -- on both of my systems. TL;DR: I installed Windows 10 on both of my computers simply by logging into my Microsoft account after installation. It seems that one serial is good for multiple computers that are linked to your Microsoft account. (I didn't read the whole thread, so that might not be what people were discussing.) -
The number of threads that somehow manage to gain momentum on these boards is staggeringly curious.

DayZ without PVP? What are you people smoking?
-
I've done that from time to time, usually when it's against multiple people who are well armed. Generally though, I'm too lazy to remove it. :T

It literally makes no difference. Someone running around at 5-800 meters without a backpack looks virtually identical to someone with one. In all my hours of DayZ, I can't think of one instance when I thought to myself, "Man, I'm glad that guy was wearing a backpack. Otherwise, I wouldn't have seen him on the horizon!" On top of that, backpacks don't even render outside of a certain range. Very often I'll notice movement a good ways out and as I peek through my scope, a backpack, gun, and ballistic helmet will snap onto the character. When I zoom back out, same silhouette of some new spawn running around. I'd even take it a step further and openly challenge anybody here to a 1v1 in a fairly open area of the map of their choice. I'll wear a red mountain backpack, and they can tell me how easy I was to spot after they respawn.

Base Building vs Advanced Barricading
Grimey Rick replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Exactly, seems pretty authentic to me. Not much I can't disassemble with a normal hammer. Traps would be a great addition to ensure your base wasn't fiddled with in your absence. Indestructible, aesthetically displeasing bases... yeah. No thanks. -
Base Building vs Advanced Barricading
Grimey Rick replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
That's neither a big deal nor a hard fix. Barricading should be extremely costly to a player. You should have to scavenge for hours before being able to barricade a building. Gaining access to a building should be roughly half as difficult as barricading it. That way, people wouldn't barricade a police/fire station, as it'd be much more likely to be ransacked, resulting in a lot of their time wasted. Players should only focus on barricading areas that see less traffic, like a lone house in relative isolation. Larger groups could control more buildings, as there would be more man hours available to them to fortify an area. Free-built bases look ridiculous, and I don't think that DayZ has the necessary tools to support structural physics, e.g. taking out a load-bearing wall results in the building collapsing. -
Neither is being spotted because of a backpack.

Base Building vs Advanced Barricading
Grimey Rick replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
It should just be barricading. Base building is really stupid. Unless they somehow manage to limit the size of the buildings to structures that would actually make sense given the setting, and they add in structural physics. If your clan wants to control an area and build a large base, it would be much more plausible to find a small abandoned town and fortify it rather than building an ugly ass, structurally impossible maze of randomly placed structures a la H1Z1 and Rust. Isn't this game supposed to maintain some semblance of authenticity? Do you really think that in an apocalyptic situation, survivors would build from the ground up? Maybe eventually when society was reinstated for the majority, but definitely not initially. Look at the Governor's town in TWD. They surrounded it with cars, tires, anything that would repel intruders. Anyway, whatever, if DayZ turns into Rust I'm tapping out. -
So what exactly does DayZ bring to the table at the moment? Those rankings are based on the present state of these games. We don't even know if DayZ will be that great at launch, we're all just blindly hoping. Please elaborate.
-
Maybe I need to try DayZ on a terrible computer. Playing at 2160 with all settings maxed makes spotting someone ten feet away from you in the forest extremely difficult. 1600 hours of constant PvP in DayZ, a handful of deaths to other players (not counting glitches/cheaters), and now I'm being told that wearing a backpack "gets you spotted". I love learning new things. (:

What makes DayZ so much better than H1Z1 and Rust? There's currently nothing at all to do in DayZ where there is in both of the aforementioned games. Those games are better optimized than DayZ as well, and believe it or not, that makes a difference to people. As far as Unturned goes, it had a major update fairly recently, and is quite fun for what it is. My son and I used to play it fairly often. As much as I love DayZ, I'm not a blind fan boy. It's currently pretty shitty.
